First pass through produce and I'm already mentally planning three meals. Chinese broccoli (gai lan), Green papayas, Green mangoes, Garlic chives, Thai eggplants, culantro--stacked like they knew I was coming. And then the unexpected jackpot: baby mangoes. Not something you casually stumble upon, and definitely the kind of find. The store itself is clean, well-organized, and surprisingly easy to navigate given how deep the inventory goes. Because seafood is put on ice for purchase in the grocery portion of the store, that area has an odd fishy smell but otherwise I enjoy browsing the shelves for goodies. Review for H Mart H Mart is one of my favorite Korean grocery stores--ever. I remember when they first opened locations in the Bay Area in places like San Francisco and San Jose, and I would gladly make the trek just to shop there. I've never been disappointed. The stores are always clean, organized, and full of incredible food options. What really makes H Mart special, though, is that it's more than just a grocery store--it's an experience. Inside this massive market, you'll find a bakery, authentic Korean food stalls, and restaurant-quality meals being made fresh. It's honestly amazing to walk into a grocery store and have access to food that tastes like it came straight from a restaurant kitchen. Because I travel frequently for work across the Southeast--covering a pretty large region--I'm always on the lookout for an H Mart whenever I'm near one. I've been lucky to have access to locations like Cary, North Carolina, and the one in Buford outside Atlanta, which serves a large and vibrant Asian community. Whenever I'm within a reasonable driving distance--usually within about 10 miles--I make a point to stop in and enjoy a delicious, authentic Korean meal that's made to order and very reasonably priced. I've brought friends and colleagues with me, and they've all been blown away by the food stalls. My personal go-to: * LA galbi (Korean short ribs)--if it's on the menu, I'm ordering it * All the little banchan side dishes--I absolutely love them * Fresh seafood options, including live crab and fish that can be cleaned and prepared for you * A stop at the bakery for dessert--think croissant donuts, almond pastries, or a beautiful layered crepe cake Some locations--even the ones I visited years ago on the West Coast--would steam or fry seafood for you right there, which makes dinner incredibly convenient. Another thing I appreciate is the cleanliness. This store truly rivals places like Whole Foods in terms of organization and quality, even while handling live seafood. The parking lots are typically spacious, well-maintained, and easy to navigate. I also love browsing the aisles for specialty ingredients you can't find everywhere. For example, they carry my favorite laksa noodles, which remind me of a Malaysian dish I fell in love with while visiting a friend in Mauritius. It's always fun to discover unique items like that. The staff--both in the grocery store and at the food stalls--are friendly and helpful, which makes the whole experience even better. Bottom line: If you're anywhere near Cary, North Carolina--or even the Buford, Georgia area--do yourself a favor and make a beeline to H Mart. LOVE this place. Such a large selection in the produce and meat section. I am also a huge fan of tofu and they have a whole case dedicated to tofu! There are several places to get food in their food court, have a Tous Le Jour bakery, and much more. I bought Lychee fruit, sweet potatoes (they looked perfect!), some oyster and hoisin sauce (since I love Asian cooking) and a few other things that are hard to find in regular grocery stores. It was clean (although they were a bit busy restocking shelves and some aisles were a little cluttered, but was not a hindrance. I'll be going back for sure, love their fresh options here. read more

H Mart is a local Asian market located in Cary NC. They sell everything from fresh produce, fresh meats, and fresh seafood. They have a variety of Asian snacks, sauces, and Ramen. Basically anything that you may need for a great Asian meal. I always get my fish and shrimp here. You can get your fish cleaned before you purchase them. There is also a small bakery located in the store where you can purchase Asian bakery items such as milk bread. Popped in HMart today (Friday) afternoon. The HMart is extremely crowded at this time. I wanted speciality items that I knew I could locate here. It's really difficult to communicate with the staff here and they can come off a bit passive when you don't speak their language. There is also a lot of stocking going on in the aisle while we're shopping which is a bit much. I found what I needed and got out the way. It's definitely an adrenaline rush shopping here. The store can use a deep cleaning in some areas. There are a variety of items here, so that's the positive side. read more

Our attempt to find Asian markets in NC proves to be a challenge, but it's great that we've got H-Mart! It kind of feels like there's a bit of home out here. This H-Mart is not too far, but also not too close from where we are. Still, we are happy to have one! You can find live seafood, frozen seafood and meats, fresh veggies and fruits, Asian condiments and dried goods all here! There are also a few food court options inside too, but we mainly come here to do our monthly grocery supply run. Aisles are stocked well, and the store is overall clean! Weekends are packed with families and college aged kids. If you're buying anything on sale, make sure you pay attention to the register. We've noticed a few times when the cashier rings up an item that was supposed to marked down but didn't. Even if you take photos of the sale price, the cashier will go and verify the price in person before fixing it for you. So, be vigilant as your items are scanned! read more

I love H Mart! This is the first Asian supermarket I've ever been to and it is truly an adventure and delight to try new products that you can't find elsewhere. I love their Soju and Sake selections. They also have a huge selection of Ramen and this has fueled my obsession with Buldak Ramen because they have so many kinds. I don't come here very often because its far away, but it's always pretty crowded when I visit (probably because it's so awesome). read more

Solid place to get my groceries, I do think that it's a little overcrowded for what it is and it's not a spacious. The staff is never exceptional, but you get what you expect at a place like this. The food court is nice and has lots of options, but I'll still say it's a little overpriced for what it is. The value isn't really there but the novelty is. The supermarket has a wide selection, it's obviously Korean focus but has a good array of other Asian ingredients that you'll need. Need. I would say it's a pretty clean place overall. read more

This is a giant Asian market. It is broadly East Asian; there were a handful of Indian subcontinent goods but nothing compared to their selection of Japanese, Korean, and Chinese items. There is also a food court where you can order some freshly prepared food from multiple vendors. As is typical for this sort of market, some things are fairly horrifying to the Western gaze, but it is also a good place to come for niche vegetarian items. I didn't find everything that I could have wanted, but a nice set of flavored oils and a few other goodies got me out the door. read more

I came here with family and we were here almost 3 hours. We are in the food court which was not kept clean at all. I had something from three different vendors. I got a green tea from one, a chicken dish from another and sushi from one . The sushi was good and a good price The green tea was bottled. The chicken tangsuyuk was good but difficult to eat no spoon or napkins given. It came with rice and radishes and had a great sweet sauce and lots of onions. The pieces of chicken were big and very tough but the sauce made it good. The store had tons of fresh vegetables and so much more. I got some green tea , a cabbage and some dates! Most of the items are too expensive for me, especially the bakery. There's a lot I would love to try but it's just too much. Cashier was not very nice or attentive. HMart is by far the largest, cleanest, most extensive Asian Market in Raleigh-Durham. Their selection of produce, meats, frozen, and shelf goods is remarkable. If you need to shop for Asian foods, there's a very good chance they have what you're looking for. I had some of the best fried chicken in my life here, the honey garlic drums blew my mind, I wanted a second helping but the wait time being almost 45 minutes per plate was the only deterrent. Came here for the first time, people have talked about how cool this place is and has places to eat inside which is an awesome plus for a grocery store. It's not just a stop it's an experience. They have an extensive vegetable, meat, fish section all designed around Eastern culinary delights. Honestly we were blown away with how much they have, the fish selection was just awesome. When you get to the frozen section... ya that's going to take you some time to digest what's in that area. Now the middle section with a huge selection of noodles, sauces, oils, curry's including certain appliances. Places like this are a delight to have around especially when typical grocery only carry a limited selection at times of certain items, this place allows you to have an extensive selection and should give you what you need. This is a big Asian food market that focuses on a lot of Korean items. They have a great food court with many amazing options to select from. I have been to MANY other Asian markets around the USA which usually had a focus on Chinese, Vietnamese or Japanese items while this was my first experience with Korean focused market. This place was really jam packed with shoppers but they still seemed to get people taken care of very fast at both the market check out and at the foot booths. We visit H-Mart in Cary, NC once or twice a month to buy ingredients for Asian foods and eat in its "food court" of concessions, mostly for Love Bao Taiwanese Kitchen (See my Love Bao review for that for more info). This H-Mart is very convenient, complete with Korean and other Asian imported products. Seafood market is 1 of the best parts of the market but most of the seafoods are pricey, and they close a few hours earlier than the entire store, so if you want to buy seafood, make sure to arrive here before 7PM. However, there are frozen seafoods you can get beyond seafood closing hours. During opening hours though, employees can clean off the fishes and weigh shrimps, crab & other seafoods. You can get ice for seafood if you need. They also have a fresh Sashimi; we usually get the salmon/tuna sashimi for around $20+ and the cooked eel for $20+. Both are delicious but they're not cheap. H-Mart is the most convenient and probably the largest Asian grocery in the Triangle, NC, especially for Korean ingredients like fresh kimchi, fish cakes, seaweed salad, gochujang, ssamjang, tofu, and other fresh sides that go well with beef, chicken, or pork bulgogi and galbi, which they also offer. They have well-marinated meats and frozen meat for hot pots, soups, and other Asian favorites. They also have an entire shelf row filled with instant ramen and another with various noodles and rice. Another aisle for canned goods, sauces & spices where we get spicy tuna, soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, seasame oil, yellow & red curry sauces, gochujang, ssamjang, etc,. The have a wide area for frozen foods where where we buy miso, pre-packaged Dukboki & lumpia wrappers. We're not a big fan of frozen foods but if you enjoy them, they have a lot of frozen dumplings, noodles & frozen seafood. They also have freezers filled with mochi ice cream & other frozen desserts. We're not a big fan of the imported snacks & sweets H-Mart offers but they have a great variety of chips, pastries & biscuits/cookies. H-Mart's market section has a great selection of fruits & vegetables. Purple potato is 1 of our favorites here. H-Mart also has the best Kimchi section, offering sliced or whole kimchi in various sizes. Prepackaged soup, tofu sauce & imported alcohol are also found close here. You can find Japanese beers, soju, and sake. I won't go into detail about H-Mart's "food court" since I already talked about 2 of the concessions in their respective reviews here on Yelp, but I will say this: While it's better than its competitors' food-eating areas (such as LiMings in Durham & Grand Asia in Cary), the foods in most of its concessions are either overpriced and/or lacking in quality. Nonetheless, we enjoy eating Taiwanese food from Love Bao here, and it's nice they provide compimentary water (cold or warm). Grocery aisles of H-Mart are always clean, well-maintained; they rarely run out of stock of the products we buy. Customer service is generally fine but there were a couple of instances when cashiers were just unfriendly & negative. The Tours le Jours inside closes too early, so if you enjoy curry bread & other baked goods, try to come here early. There's also a Yaya Tea inside but we rather go to a a better milk tea cafe nearby. There are definitely a lot of reasons to visit H-Mart, and while its customer service, food court, and pricing are not perfect, the ultimate convenience & delicious offerings make it a must-visit for Asian food enthusiasts. The raves about H-Mart are well deserved. While in town visiting friends we needed some ingredients for a few favorite dishes that can be hard to get. We got those and had a great lunch too! So I will write up a few things about the lunch and then talk about the market. LUNCH / food stalls When you enter the store, heading to your right you will begin to see various vendors... hot chicken, sushi, etc. we got two buffet dishes to share. I chose beef bulgogi which was awesome! So tender and flavorful. He got champpong a spicy seafood & noodles dish. He loved it. I loved the flavor too but honestly was glad to have the beef to give my tastebuds a break from the heat! Prices were really reasonable the portions were great. It was crazy fresh and tasty. I will absolutely be back and if I lived nearby I would make a habit of going there! MARKET The selection in every area of the store seems unmatched. Produce, meat, noodles, frozen goods, etc. we came here because we thought we could get everything we needed for a few special holiday dishes and we got great quality too. And we got mochi ice cream just cause! One area I would like to spend more time in was the housewares because you can really outfit a kitchen. read more

H Mart is the place to visit when looking for a variety of produce, spices, + an impressive selection of meat and seafood options. The store includes a beauty/skincare specialty area, an arcade, Kung Fu Tea and a food court. The store is a whole experience. From the variation in foods, to the surprise of the arcade to the delicious drinks at Kung Fu Tea. One of my favorite sections in H-Mart is the kimchi section. I enjoy eating kimchi with rice, so I am always in this section. I also like the snack area. It's always nice to try something new when going to H Mart. Definitely give this store a try. H Mart has a good reputation among Asian communities in bigger cities, so you could say it's kind of a big deal that there is one in Cary. We've been several times and although we've never tried items from the food court, we've purchased groceries and other items from noodles to snacks to dumplings, etc. It can be pretty busy on the weekends and like of Asian markets, it can be hard sometimes to find exactly what you're looking for. I absolutely love H Mart! It's a huge Asian grocery market with a food court and bakery attached to it. As it is in Cary which is 35 minutes away from me, I do wish I was closer. That being said, I still do make an effort to visit frequently as they have items and foods not found at my local grocery store. There is a great selection of groceries with produce, meats, seafood, frozen food, kitchen ware, and more. The prices are usually comparable to other places in the area and the store is very organized. The food court has a great selection of Korean foods ranging from Korean fried chicken to jjigae to Korean corn dogs. I have tried the Korean corn dogs and the kimchi jjigae. Both dishes were fantastic and were a great way to round out my grocery trip. Overall, this place is a must visit for groceries, but also I would highly recommend the food court as well! read more

HMart is a national chain. This location seems to be suffering. The store is filthy, chaotic, and poorly organized. The staff is so 'passive' (as one reviewer recently observed) that they come off as being condescending especially if you don't speak their language. I'm not sure what they're trying to prove by acting like speaking English in North Carolina is wrong, but they're certainly trying to prove something. Perhaps cleaning the filth would be a nice start. So too would installing an exhaust fan to get rid of the smell of rotting fish. Or maybe just be nice and helpful. My wife and I stopped by H Mart today to check out the wares, and we were really impressed! All of the produce and meat seemed very fresh, prices were reasonable, and there was a huge variety of different Asian goods available that I haven't seen in any other nearby grocery store. Of course, there's also the food court that has quite a few offerings, but we focused on the grocery section today :) The parking lot was pretty busy but I didn't feel like the store was overcrowded. I used to go here all the time when I lived in Apex and now that I've moved back to Wake County, of course I had to come and see what was new! The claw machine section was new to me and although it was really fun and the prizes were so adorable, the claws are definitely janky and I would advise you to not spend ANY money on them. I selected $5 in tokens and it charged me for $10. Besides that, I had an amazing experience shopping here and left with a wide variety of things such as marble cakes, ramen, and preserved tea. The food court was absolutely delicious. I decided to eat at two restaurants, Ktown and So Gong Dong Tofu House, and they were both a 5/5 for me. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

Not only is their produce quality suspect I cut into $20 dollar papaya just for it to welt and spoil few hours later didn't taste nothing like a papaya. When I tried to address customer service rather than speaking on quality what was mentioned was "not being able to afford it" Discrimination is allowed here steer clear if you care where your $ goes. I love coming here! I go to Hmart to find items I can't find anywhere else. Some of the items I regularly buy are fresh branzino (they scale, clean, and gut it for you), dried herbs for tea, calabaza, wagyu, bulgogi beef, the list goes on. You just can't find these items in a regular grocery store so I appreciate being able to get them. With that being said, I do carefully inspect each item I purchase because sometimes the quality isn't there. Very hit or miss. Also, be prepared to stand in line for some time while checking out. It doesn't matter what time of day I go, the lines are always long. read more

The presence of H-mart is a necessity when considering where it might be bearable to live as an Asian American. Clean, fresh Asian produce satisfies a multitude of palates, with a food court that can scratch most itches for Korean food. I've never had a problem interacting with staff here either - a notable addition to HMart's great reputation. The only downside is that it might be a decent bit more expensive than the mom-and-pop Asian groceries you might find in places with a greater Asian presence, but I've yet to find a satisfying one in the Triangle. read more

H Mart is a great shopping venue when you need any Asian comestibles. It's not easy to make a quick trip, either. There are so many foods to look at that a good slice of time should be afforded! The variety and often lower costs for meat and produce makes this a great place to shop. The carry high end products and their staples are priced very well! If you're in the area and need Asian supplies, then H Mart is the place to go! The restaurants in the place serve some nice foods at average prices. We decided on lunch at the Kang Nam Town spot in their food court. It was quite good but my only complaint about was that the beef bibimbap we ordered was pretty sparse when it came to the beef part. A portion of maybe a 1/4 cup was hidden under the egg and while it was tasty there wasn't quite enough. Regardless it was good. I highly recommend H Mart! read more

Always love the food court -- my kiddos love the Korean corndogs, and my favorite is the ttebokki -- but there are tons of yummy options. The bakery is also great, and we always find tons of great stuff in the grocery. I enjoy the concept of Hmart but the only problem I have is the customer service. I have been coming here since the day of their grand opening but the customer service is lacking, not all the staff but enough that it's noticeable, a few of the cashiers have a scowl on their face and appear annoyed you are in their line and make sure you don't have a question because that is apparently too much for them to handle. One was so rude yesterday to my mom because she handed her my Hmart card upside down. I know they were busy and maybe she was stressed so I didn't say anything but it's ridiculous. read more

My family and I love coming here whenever we're in town. As far as Asian markets go, this is definitely one of the cleanest ones that I've been to. On the weekends, it seems to be more crowded than our weekday visits. I think it is because of the food court. Which can sometimes, be hard to find a seat in. Especially if you have more than 4 people with you. Hence the 4 stars. There is a Kung Fu tea inside the store, but not in the food court. If you're looking for a quick meal or snack, and not in the mood to wait for food in the food court, there's a hot bar with food wrapped to go. The produce, meat, fish, and food aisles are always stocked... if you don't see something asking may be helpful. My recommendation: Try something new... there is always something! read more

Fun times at the food court at this H mart! They have various Asian cuisines from Korean, Japanese, to Chinese and Taiwanese. We tried the ramen and udon noodles at the Korean shop, the hot dogs from the Japanese place, and crispy pork from the Taiwanese place. I honestly liked all of them. Special note on the crispy pork, they are said to be cooked with a special technique which makes sure all the grease in the meat are grilled out, and topped with their secret sauce . Unbelievable flavor and texture! In terms of ambiance, this is more of a casual and cozy food court, good for family and friends. Not much service needed, you have to make sure that you put the bowls and trays back to where they came from. read more

My first visit was in 2018. I was on a 30 day work trip and needed some utensils. They had it all. I bought a knife, a bowl, a plate and some chopsticks. Fast forward to 2024 and it's only improved. Their small wares section is even better. The food stalls are a great addition and obviously the product selections throughout the aisles are what drive the foot traffic. You've got a gem in Cary. I personally enjoy going to H Mart. I like seeing all the fruit & vegetables that you can't find in normal grocery stores. The meat selection is 5 star alone. Many small restaurants within H mart to choose from and most of them are hits. If you don't want to wait for food from vendors, there's plenty of premise food that's packaged in a specific section. You really can find whatever you need as far as Asian items in there. They also have kitchen supplies/tools/utensils. A big plus is their coffee/bakery. The most amazing looking cakes and different breads and pastries that are constantly put out and restocked. The workers work hard indeed to keep up with the demand and hustle of the day. The only dislike I have is how crowded it is and how things can be out of place a lot....but that's more uncontrolled by the employees and more on the patrons.
