Visited this location plenty of times and received exceptional customer service. Tonight the checkout seemed extremely transactional. Jada had ongoing conversation with the bagger while checking me out. Never saying a word to me during the entire transaction. Very weird. This came off as a colorist experience due to the lack of interaction or even a simple "Hello" from this cashier. Almost like I had did something to her. Definitely felt driven by the color of my skin especially when I noticed no issues interacting with others. The bagger slid a scripted have a nice day in there at the very end. This is the best grocery store on planet earth in my opinion. The people who work there have become an extended part of my family over 10 years. They have seen my kids grow, they have lived through hardships with us. They are just the best of humanity. The prices are excellent and when I see someone with a whole cart of groceries at a harris teeter or a lowes, I shudder to think how much they are spending. We buy almost all our weekly groceries here for a family of four. They also have the best return policy ever. They dont always get it right but they honor returns with or without reciept. This is my all time favorite Trader Joe's store. As outrageous as it might seem, I consider myself responsible for bringing Trader Joe's to NC. Here's the story... In 1993, I built a house for my Mom in a subdivision behind Shoppes of Kildaire (where TJ's is). At the time, there was a Winn Dixie grocery store where TJ's is now. The main reason I chose the location was because I thought as my Mom got older it would be great to be able to walk to a grocery store. Imagine how disappointed I was in 2005 when the Winn Dixie closed. The Shoppes of Kildaire kind of went dead afterwards. I wrote to Trader Joe's and suggested they open up a store here. I had heard that Fresh Market was one of their biggest competitors and that's why TJ's didn't have a presence here, but I couldn't confirm that. At the time, TJ's didn't have much presence in the southeast. I got back a cute postcard that said: Ahoy Maryellen! We don't plan to drop anchor in your area anytime soon..." Oh well, at least I tried. About 8 months later, rumors started circulating about Trader Joe's opening in Cary. I did my best sleuthing to confirm the rumor but couldn't get any confirmation. Finally in 2006 TJ's opened. Hallelujah, hallelujah...the skies parted, angels sang...the grocery gods had smiled upon us! They broke up the old Winn Dixie into two stores and the other half became Staples. There was so much pent up demand when TJ's opened, the store looked like a hurricane had been forecasted every single day. They couldn't keep enough inventory. The employees walked around sincerely apologizing for the empty shelves. And if you grabbed the last can of lentil vegetable soup you felt very fortunate, maybe even smug at your grocery-shopping skills. There's a book called The Trader Joe's Experience. After I read that I realized that people will go to extreme lengths to get a TJ's in their town, like write their Senator extreme. TJ's is definitely an energy force. I love the people at Trader Joe's and I always have. My Mom could not understand my excitement about a grocery store but once she experienced TJ's she understood. Now she's 94 and having a TJ's across the street from her house has improved the quality of her life and helped maintain a high property value. Who wouldn't want Trader Joe's as a neighbor? By the way, in case you didn't know, Aldi's is also owned by Trader Joe's parent company but Trader Joe's is like Aldi's fun, younger cousin. And guess what? Very unexpectedly, I now live in the house I built in 1993 and it's a great lifestyle to walk to TJ's almost every day. I don't have to do big shopping trips all at once. It would be nice if they installed a box by the door with a crown in it. I could put on the crown when I arrive, maybe wear a flowing Hawaiian theme robe with the TJ's logo on it. Time for some beautiful fresh flowers! I love this location. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The location is great with plenty of parking and the store is very well-kept. I love they always have something new to try with a great variety of things to offer something for everyone. The best part? Their flower selection. I truly enjoy choosing my flowers from their location. The pricing is good, the selection is good, and the quality of the plants are good. Not something we see in a lot of places. The only downside to this location, for those that want to visit - when it's busy within the area, this parking lot can become a nightmare - plan accordingly. read more

I haven't visited TJ's since leaving New York and today I stopped in while at my nail spa. It's located around the corner from the spa so that's always convenient. I'm not thrilled about this parking lot at all. It's located right off of Kildaire and that is a nightmare on weekends. I love how much variety TJ's offers. Their fresh flowers/ plants and health & beauty products are worth the visit alone. I ran out of body butter so I've been dying to try the Grapefruit body butter a few influencers have been raving about. I also picked up a rose water facial toner for hydration. I love the pre-made salads you can grab when on the go and who doesn't love their collection of kombucha and yogurts ! Get that gut feeling happy in no time with probiotics. If this location wasn't so busy I would make this my weekly guilty pleasure. read more

I LOVE Trader Joe's. Not only do I love TJs, I love this location especially because A. it's convenient, and B. the employees are as nice as could be. I used to be a very frequent Trader Joe's shopper until covid hit. I have only been into a handful of grocery stores since March :O I finally made my way into Trader Joe's last week! I was so excited to be back there, having to find the willpower to *not* buy everything. If you've been to TJs then you probably get what I'm saying... Anyways, when I walked up to the entrance, I was pleasantly surprised to see an organized, single file line of socially-distanced customers waiting to enter the store/receive and a sanitized cart or basket. The store still seemed busy inside but definitely not anywhere close to how busy I've seen it get in past years. I hurried to buy what I came for (6 bottles of wine) and maybe a couple of other staples that I've missed having. There are a billion Instagram accounts that are dedicated to sharing Trader Joe's staples/new items/reviews these days so if you're looking for more recommendations, they're out there! By limiting capacity, requiring masks, encouraging social distancing, offering hand sanitizer, sanitizing between shoppers, and probably more, this Trader Joe's location really seems to be doing an outstanding job with covid safety and I appreciate that a lot. I find that my dollar goes much farther than when I shop at other stores. I have found the produce is fresh and rotated frequently. I like the meat selections too. The rosemary steak bites are so good. The salmon is at a price that can't be beat. The frozen section is my favorite. This is my favorite grocery store hands down. The workers are friendly. There are new, interesting and usually tasty things to try often. Price points are fairly reasonable for most things. I do not come to Trader Joe's often so I'll share some of their COVID practices and features through the eyes of a newbie. Before entering Trader Joe's, follow the signs and markings on the ground that wrap around the pumpkins. If you arrive at a busy time, there may be a line. Luckily there was no line when I arrived so I followed the signs, was greeted at the door, and provided a clean shopping cart. They set it up this way in order to provide each customer with a sanitized cart and limit the number of customers inside. Once inside, there did not seem to be directional arrows so you can go to any aisle and any direction. This way is preferred in case you miss something. I started in the produce section (far left), picked out a pumpkin, then checked out seasonings (I recommend grabbing a jar of Everything but the Bagel seasoning), selected a dozen eggs, perused the frozen food section, briefly walked down the nutritional supplement and snack aisle, and finished at the wine aisle. Specialty items are cheaper here than at other supermarkets. More common items (such as grapes and spices) seem to be more expensive. They do have fewer overall options to chose from so it is less overwhelming and they have more organic options. Their cashiers are incredibly efficient and friendly. Although it seemed crowded, as soon as I walked up to checkout, one of the cashiers was open and I was able to check out right away. Upon leaving the store, I realized that an employee follows you to your car in order to bring your cart back for you. They do inform you of this before doing so. They do keep their distance and wait patiently as you load your car. They then return the cart to the store for it to be cleaned. Recommended items: cookie butter, everything but the bagel seasoning, pot stickers read more

I love coming here mainly for their frozen foods. They have many good organic items and produce as well as specialty products but the frozen foods here is where it's at peeps. Out of the huge selection they have, get the Kung Pao Chicken from the Trader Ming's brand. You'll thank me later. Easy to prep in less than 10 min. If you served that to me blind taste test I would legit say it came from a high end restaurant like P.F. Changs. The Honey Walnut Shrimp is pretty bomb as well. Both very affordable at about 6 bucks a pop. Much more cost effective than paying 15 bucks at a sit down restaurant. read more

What can I say, TJ's is one of my most favoritest places to go food shopping! For those of you who are unfamiliar with TJ's, it's a specialty grocery chain that grew out of SoCal into a national chain, primarily on the West coast and Northeast. While it's not an all-organic store like Whole Foods it has quite a bit of healthy food stuffs and is mostly private label. A lot of the items you find there can only be found at TJ's and at a good price. And the whole store is based on a nautical/island theme. It's a smaller grocery store but has pretty much everything you need except for good fresh produce. They tend to do quirky ethnic flavored items which are great for single people and young families. There's a ton of partially prepared and frozen meals that make it easy to whip up a tasty meal quickly. They keep things cheap by cutting out the middleman but will sometimes run out of your favorite items. TJ's is also known for its cheap wines (Two Buck Chuck)! They've also got a good selection of beers and liquors if wine is not your thing. Some of my favorite items include: dried fruits, almonds/pistachios, french roast coffee, korean bulkogi, orange chicken, rice bowls, peanut butter pretzels, you get the idea! The store is a snacker's heaven... But you can also get the basics there like eggs, butter, milk and sodas. Everything tends to be really good so TJ's shoppers tend to try out all the new items that show up. Sometimes I've gotten a disappointing item but it's been pretty rare over the years. The place is busy on the weekends, there are only two stores in the state of NC. Best time to go is after work and they're open until 9pm every day. When I first got to NC in 2005 it was pretty depressing not to have a Trader Joe's around so I wrote to the company pleading for a store. Who says you can't always get what you want?! read more

Who doesn't love Trader Joe's !! It is located near my gym so I will pop in often for a few things at a time. Milk, eggs, and sometimes veggies. I find Trader Joe's to be quite pricey on some items. Their wine selection does not disappoint. I am always able to find a reasonably priced bottle that is tasty. If you find one that you like be sure and stock up soon because they tend to rotate bottles and may not always carry the wine you just fell in love with. Samples in the back of the store are always nice. One thing that I ALWAYS buy at Trader Joe's is their vanilla ice cream. The taste simply cannot be best by any other brand. Every staff member I've come in contact with here is so friendly and I drive out of the way to go to this store instead of competitors like Harris Teeter or Food Lion. This location usually does specials and food samples every day. I'd recommend keeping track of deals going on, especially on foods that are in season. Trader Joe's has prices that are hard to beat. The quality of the products is great and produce is usually dirt cheap here. Also, it helps that the wine is $3 ;) I try something new every time I go to Trader Joe's and I've never been disappointed in any products. Update July 2020: It pains me to write an unfavorable review but as the world has endured rapid changes to our daily lives, I felt I needed to provide an update on my personal experiences since March 2020 to date. After all, I am "Cary's Honest Critic". Trader Joe's took immediate steps to adhere to executive orders as the pandemic unfolded. While not perfect, TJs has remained steadfast to keep up with their mission and vision = 4 stars. The location to route people through a line to enter and get a cart is a good idea. Execution remains at the employees on shift. There are many people both employees and patrons who act ignorant, illiterate, or blatant disregard to follow simple guidelines and suggestions. Overall = 4 stars. Trader Joe's could have created a few new positions to help those immune compromised and might not have assistance to wait in lines or even shop for themselves. TJs could have someone take a call and get list of groceries which person could pay possibly a secure method. I realize these are challenging times. Then offering either pickup curbside or reserving a few nearby parking spaces, as a suggestion. Above and beyond would be to drop off to the customer. Of course, not ideal but a suggestion for someone who may be at risk or exposed and no way to get food and supplies for themselves. Please consider, even partnering with local organizations ie churches to pickup and deliver. My biggest gripe is employees are NOT properly trained how to bag groceries. There is no discrimination as it is from older to younger employees. Why do you pack a bag with frozen food in 100 degrees vertically? The items are displayed horizontal and should be stacked just the same when bagging. Everytime, I need to repack it myself. Or, if I skip bagging and leave in the cart, muffins are tossed upside down. A second person to do this or get another cart is disrespectful and reckless. 0 (ZERO) stars. I had a pleasant conversation with your employee, Shane, who was waiting at my car to retrieve the cart on one occasion. I did not take my frustrations out on him but made some eye-opening suggestions. My first job while in high school was a cashier at a grocery store. My lines were long because I took care to bag, manually key, scan, deduct coupons, etc valued employee and minimum wage was under $5/hour. It is called a strong work ethic and pride....101 Bag training needs immediate implementation such as no soap products with food EVER! NEVER. Since COVID, I stock up and shop when necessary every 2 to 3 weeks. Please understand it is dreadful each experience nowadays. Earlier this week a female employee followed me around the store and asked if I was baking. I was shocked, and said "NO". If you must ask a question, please be considerate and courteous. Actually, I was mailing a care package to a military veteran who was recently diagnosed with COVID. I purchased boxes of broth, some oatmeal, jars of honey, almond butter, cans of coconut milk..... simple ingredients for nourishment, strength, and stay hydrated. If they lived in state, I would have delivered a carload of groceries and dropped everything off (period). No, the veteran did not ask me to do anything....I just do it because it is the right thing to do! Use this as an example to be an unsung hero to ALL customers every day. Hopefully, a training is offered to treat this as a learning experience. An ideal response as a suggestion which is more appropriate: "Are you looking for anything specific?"; "How can I help you?"; "How are you doing?"; or a simple "have a good day and stay safe". Not all your prices are competitive. Pre-COVID, your employees were fantastic to me and my family especially taking on caregiver duties with limited time and even helpful ordering products and holding them until I returned to the store. Customer service hands down was the best. However, today is a far cry and I have not had any positive experiences since. Now, I re-evaluate and shop elsewhere regardless of prices, based on recently experiences or convenience. read more

This has been our regular Trader Joe's since moving here in January 2019, and yesterday they really went above and beyond. With the new pandemic regulations in place, and it being a smaller grocery store, I was a bit wary of shopping there. Usual weekend days there usually give me high anxiety with the number of customers in close proximity. Well, yesterday the store crew did an outstanding job with social distancing. They ensured a proper number of customers were in the store at any time, staggered entrances so that there wasn't a cluster of people at produce, and had aisles and cashiers properly marked to ensure that there was distance between people. The store was well stocked, and I'm very glad that they were open for us (this is the only store that carries my daughter's favorite snack, so I'm willing to run through hellfire if needed to keep the peace with the toddler). I have been coming to this Trader Joe's for years and I am finally writing my first review. And to share with you the most amazing pizza with ALL TJ ingredients that has me wanting to open up my own pizzeria it's so good! Everyone I've made it for has raved about it and crazy thing is that it hasn't so much to do with me as it does the amazingly fresh and delicious TJ ingredients. It has taken me a while to perfect it and I'm continuously trying different combos, but this is my go-to pizza. A MUST TRY! if anyone you make it for doesn't like it, literally stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life. TRY THIS RECIPE and PLEASE let me know what you think: (This can easily feed 3-4 individuals and sill have some left overs) 1. 1 bag Pizza dough (garlic herb or whole wheat are my faves. Only $1.29 EACH!!!!!!) 2. Pesto (the refrigerated one by the pizza doughs). Literally THE BEST pesto I've ever had 3. Jalapeno chicken sausage (any of their chicken sausage is delicious but last time I made the pizza I tried the jalapeno chicken sausage for the first time and it was delicious). I usually cook the sausage first so it doesn't have to go through the entire cooking process in the oven with the dough 4. You can also try their pepperoni, it's really good 5. Regular goat cheese 6. Mozzarella +/- whatever other cheeses you'd like (3 cheese blend perhaps) Following the baking instructions for the dough (and cooking the chicken sausage ahead of time), your pizza is ready in 10-15 min. Feel free to message me for specifics. But check out the pics too. They don't really do the pizza justice but I promise you you'll be the hit of the party AND it's cheap!! Next time I'm making it with gouda! I must admit that I didn't come up with this recipe ALL on my own. One day I was planning on making pizza when the cashier lady noticed as such and strongly suggested I try the pesto on my pizza, and YAAAASSSSS!!!!! That's where and why and how my addiction began, right at this location. TJ's has them. f) They seem to have brought life to this shopping center which wasn't there previously. g) No "Deposits" to borrow a shopping cart. A+ Trader Joe's location. The staff are all super friendly and helpful and they always have what you need. Their produce is superb. Gluten-free options here are plentiful and tasty. I have come to really love Trader Joe's and this location definitely helps that. Trader Joe's is my favorite grocery store, and I ventured out to this location this afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they were controlling store traffic in the time of Covid. They have a line outside the store that moves fairly quickly, limiting the number of people inside the actual store. The employees were all very friendly and kind and were wiping down each cart and the cashier counter after each customer. I had a very pleasant experience at this store today and was able to stock up on my favorite salted caramel hot cocoa. read more

Absolutely love Trader Joe's! They have great food options and great prices. They always have free samples of a meal in the back with simple recipes to make. Last week I went in with one recipe in mind and a list of ingredients to get, but after trying their sample I left with all the ingredients to make that instead! They also have a variety of unique things that are only sold here that I love! The staff is always very friendly and helpful here. It does get overwhelmingly packed on the weekends, but that's pretty much expected in any grocery store. The check out lines move fast and they always have most of them open. Whenever we need our fix of fresh salsa, this is our go-to place and my bride and I will drive the 30ish miles just for that. Where else can we a get a 18 oz box of puffins (cinammon flavor) for cheaper than a 10 oz box of Puffins at one of the regional larger competitors? The varieties of lowfat options are terrific here and easily identifiable. Grapefruits have been very juicy lately. There's almost always fresh coffee brewed for sampling. Less Guilt Pita Chips - MMMMMMM! Trader Joe's Peanut Butter Pretzel bites are great for road trips. I have to disagree with the folks who think there's a poor beer and wine selection. The selection here is not your average selection - it's more of a microbrewery type of selection for both the wines and the beers. One doesn't come here for bud or coors. Granted the beer selection at World Market might be a bit better, I certainly have no complaints about the selection at TJ's. Charles Shaw is cheap wine, but it's still comparable to a $10 bottle of wine from the average grocery store without giving me that gut rot feeling of indigestion. Getting the Trader Joe's Reserve Cabernet for $10 is a treat and it's a smooth wine. This particular TJ's may be small but it's worth the trip any day of the week. read more
