We stoped here to pick up potato salad which I had read in an article that it's supposed to be one of the best. Lidl seems similar to Aldi stores. You can either purchase bags to put your groceries in or bring your own. We were on a time crunch and luckily found the potato salad in the first aisle that we went down. We didn't get a chance to go through the rest of the store. We had the potato salad for dinner and it was a unanimous vote that the potato salad was pretty good! read more

Let's be clear. Lidl is the cousin of Aldi. German owned and the store is similar to European model grocery stores. Don't expect to find big box brands here. Everything is private label. The store places special emphasis on Dairy and baked goods. Prices are very low. Lidl has a helpful App that offers coupons and helps track weekly deals. I saved $5 my first purchase. I love the quality of the paper towels here, baked goods, meats, dairy and the WINE selection ! The Apple turnovers are the best. The baked goods remain in a warmer for the entire day. Unheard of. They have a decent selection of international items. Italian pasta, sauces, Indian, and German gourmet items at very low prices. Let's talk about the cheap wines. The Australian Shiraz and Country Cream ( a knock off of Bailey's) are awesome for $8.99. I am not happy with the layout of the store, terrible produce and weekly finds. The store needs to work on managing the weekly finds section. Always sloppy and I have more fun shopping Aldi's Weekly Finds aisles. read more

Honestly if you have been to one Lidl you have been to them all, and to me that is a good thing. You know what to expect, and are not going in wondering where everything will be and if they even carry something. This store has ample parking and is easy to get into and out of, even being located on Wake Forest/ Falls of Nuese road. The store is clean, there carts are not left all over the place and the items are stocked. Only issue as with all Lidl's I have been to there are never enough registers open. And remember bring your own bags, or be ready to pay. read more

I love Lidl! But you have to into Lidl with the expectation that you might not find some of the more specialty items like specific spices. They carry their general staples (eggs, milk, bread, produce, flour, etc. ), but if you're looking for that ground mustard seed spice, they probably won't carry that. I love the fact that they carry more European export items like Jaffa cakes and select cheeses. I also like that when their produce are on sale, they're on sale! (Like pumpkins for $2.49). They also have a great variety of different food there so you can get potstickers and Indian food there! read more

As others have said Lidl is basically Aldi, but nicer and no need to dig out a quarter for your cart. I was hosting a baby shower and thought Lidl would be a great place to get a few of the essentials at a good price, they did not disappoint! The produce section was awesome and you really can't beat the prices. A whole bag of gala apples for $2.49? Sign me up! As I was shopping on Saturday morning it looked like the staff was changing out the discount signs, I wouldn't have been thrilled if I grabbed something thinking it was on sale and when I got to the register learned it ended yesterday. That would probably be a good thing for the staff to do right before they open to avoid any confusion. I took a look at the cheese section and it was quite expansive, but for the price I felt like you could get a better deal for the variety at Trader Joe's. If you are looking for wine and beer this is also a great place to go! They had a large section devoted to it! Event had some beer chilled to grab and go. They organize the wines well and have a section for each variety. I picked up a few bottles of Prosecco for $6.99 and they were a hit! Like Aldi you have to bring your own bag or pay ten cents per bag (which is reasonable if you forget yours). When you check out the cashier basically has two belts and when one person is done ringing up he/she switches to the other belt. You do feel like you have to hustle though because as you are packing your stuff they keep pushing the belt forward for the person behind you to get going! There are two exits so if you need to go left onto Wake Forest just exit towards the back and you can get to the light! read more

This is a customary thing that happened quite often when I do my shopping at this store. This time I complained to one of the managers and I was advised to do my shopping to another store if the noise is bothering me. I intend to follow her advice. I'm not going to compare Lidl to ALDI. That's just not fair. They are similar but are no different than comparing Kroger to Food Lion. With that said, the trip (Ok not really that far) from Cary to this Lidl off Wake Forest Road was awesome !! We will be back. A Saturday morning probably isn't the best time to come. Next time I'll come on a weekday. It was crowded but not so bad we couldn't go up and down each (and every) aisle. First comes produce. Some SUPER deals here !! We stocked up. They also have a great selection of cheese and lunch meats (like prosciutto). We didn't buy any fresh meat but the selection was good. I could go on and on about each aisle but .........it's a grocery store ! Prices on some items are fabulous and I saw some prices that weren't so great. I only had a very short first trip to this place, but it was a nice surprise. not only did it out do aldi, it is now up there in my top 5 affordable grocery stores nearby. Sorry aldi. This place wont have everything you need. But pretty close. I'd start here and if you need one or two things afterwards, get them from the bigger stores later. I'll be honest, I was super skeptical at first about shopping here. I'm used to shopping at big chain stores and organic food stores. So the thought of shopping at a discount food store made me nervous. They have some very quality items here. Their produce is pretty good (no issues last time or this time). They have some really good discount wine that doesn't give you a headache! Their meat section is pretty extensive and they have a ton of grass fed/organic chicken and beef. The seafood selection is large as well. It reminds me of a bigger Trader Joe's. This is one of the stores that you have to see for yourself. I'll just say, their store brand doesn't really taste like "store brand". They do have some name brand items. I have been hearing about Lidl for months and was happy to find out one location opened up close to my place. As I walked in for the first time, I heard one gentleman saying Lidl is basically Aldi but on steroids, and oh boy, was he right! I love going to Aldi for my groceries and especially $3 wine. One big downside of Aldi is their limited selections of merchandise. Lidl, on the other hand, has a plenty of selections for everything! I felt like I was shopping at a regular grocery store. I love their wine section also! They also have $3 wine but with more options! I will continue to visit Lidl for my groceries from now on. I love the selection and the cleanliness of the store. It's conveniently located near both Walmart and Aldi. In case I need something from all of those places, I can get my groceries done real fast! read more

This is the third Lidl location I've been to in the last few months and I have to say, you're really winning this Aldi customer over!! I was so impressed with how well this location is running since they'd only been open less than a week when I came by for a visit. The shelves were well stocked, the employees are nice and helpful, and the check out was a breeze!! I was surprised it wasn't very crowded for a Saturday afternoon, but that was to my advantage, so no complaints there. This is the first time I've purchased some of the fresh bakery goods and were they ever! The donuts were delicious and the price is excellent!! I also purchased several items that I normally get at Aldi and so far the quality is just as good and in some cases even better! I highly recommend paying Lidl a visit. Meanwhile, I'll be very excited when the location opens in West Cary next year, which is right in my neighborhood! read more

This is my new favorite grocery store for certain items like wine, beer, snacks, and produce. The selection is really good, lots of stuff you can't find elsewhere. But the downside is a lot of the space in the store is taken up by non grocery items. I'm not exactly sure why they have so much of this stuff, I don't really see many people buying it. The other downside is the store is a dead zone for cell service and their wifi never works, so the Lidl app is basically useless in the store. Also there never seems to be enough cash registers open. Fix these issues and it will be a 5 star experience! read more

I like Lidl's because of their pricing and frequent sales. They're not real nice with customer service and they don't seem to give refunds, so make sure you get what you mean to use. And as we sadly learned, each store sets its own pricing. You need to make sure to use the circular for the store you are going to. When we first visited Lidl, we had no clue what to expect. We'd never been in it's sister (or should I say brother, since that's how they both started, with two brothers wanting to sell different items) store, Aldi. Looking like a CarMax or an airport from the exterior, the aesthetic is sleek, clean and modern. That style carries through to the interior. The aisles are wide enough for two huge carts to pass by with feet in-between them. Everything is neatly organized, and the checkout lanes are quick and efficient (when there are enough open). They always have something new, and your favorites are always in stock. A few tips: - BRING YOUR BAGS, because they do not give them out for free (which I love and wish every store did this) - The weekends are busier as to be expected, but the mornings are calmer - Try their fresh baked goods, especially the butter croissant and chocolate chip cookies, of which you get one free chocolate chip cookie on your birthday if you sign up on their app! A must try, and you'll save more than 20-30% on your grocery bill. Seriously. Hummus is off-brand Sabra, and is $1.50... tortilla chips are $0.79, and a legit pack of knock-off thin mint cookies is $0.89. Incredible! read more

What a terrible service I got from Lidl! Today, I went to the Lidl store in McLean, VA and purchased a lot of the stuff. During the check out process, I did not scan my member card and the cashier did not remind me either. As those Lidl customer might know, customers are not able to see the item prices and did not know if discount on certain items were applied or not. By the time, I realized the issue and return to the store requesting for adjustment of the prices. The cashier was very rude and impolitely asking me to stand aside. I asked if there is a customer service desk where I can seek for help. No, the cashier said, "We don't have customer service desk." The attitude and manner that the cashier conducted was so rude. At that point, I decided that it is not worth of my business here and just left. Customer might not always be right, but customers needs to be treated right. It might be just one time instance. But, it only happens in Lidl. Comparing to other local supermarkets, Giant and Safeway, it is like night and day different. The cashiers and customer service from those two store are always respectful and friendly to their customers. I just can't believe that Lidl don't think their customer service is important. 0 star for Lidl. read more

The prices are low. The store is light and bright. They have a good selection on most things. So why only two stars? The staff. I was HORRIFIED when 2 young male checkout staffers engaged in a very offensive conversation in my presence. They were saying harsh and judgmental things about certain types of female customers. I tried calling the store manager, but wound up in a call center loop and never spoke to a human being. Really don't think I'll go back. Update December 2018: I haven't gone back!!! So I finally took the drive from Chapel Hill and mannnn on man. I could kick myself all over Raleigh for procrastinating so long. This place is organic affordable healthy living heaven!!! Yes Whole Foods has a wider variety but also "wider prices". The prices here for organic products were unreal! This is seriously Aldi and WF got married and had a Lidl baby. Ha! See what I did there? Too much? Okay moving on. They had mostly everything I needed, including natural laundry detergent. Natural meats, organic cereal, canned goods, produce, frozen items, drinks etc etc and I didn't break the bank! I know I'm fashionably late to the party but better late than never. I plan to make this my regular grocery store despite the drive! May use the money I save to invest in this place lol! read more

Don't forget to bring a bag! They aren't free here, just like Aldi. That being said, there are few other annoyances at Lidl. It's easy-in, easy-out if you're going north on Old Wake Forest/Falls. Zip in and get what you need for dinner that night - fresh, inexpensive, good quality. The produce section is a little lackluster. Sometimes they have squash, sometimes they don't. I find this to be the case with a few fairly standard vegetables. But the prices are hard to beat when you see a bright orange sign on anything. It is important to note, not everything is cheaper here. The general expectation is that you will find everything at a discount, but that is not the case. Just watch your prices and you'll come out a winner. Cheese, wine, snacks, crackers, chocolate, nuts, dairy in general, house brands - are all fairly low priced. Any national brands are ones you have to compare prices on. I mean, it's so close to Walmart that you can swing in if you're making a massive grocery run and need to get something you couldn't find at Lidl. Overall, I'm pleased and will be back. The bakery is SOLID. Cheap, delicious. The Rosemary Olive Oil bread is killer, as is the walnut bread. Croissants are inexpensive. Everything is reasonable in the bakery that I've tried. read more

The inside is clean, clean, clean. The staff is great (though the checkout is a bit slow). The produce is excellent and often incredibly well priced. When on sale, the meat is a bargain - and look for those 30% off tags for stuff that is going to be outdated in a few days. Lots of organic crap for those that want it. I've yet to find a Lidl branded product that I haven't liked (unlike Aldi - I'm not a fan, and Trader Joe's - who often sells products that I don't like, but they take returns so easily.) They do carry some national brands, but don't count on it. The inventory changes regularly. Two things that are amazingly good: The Lidl brand ice cream (peppermint year round - YEAH.) And the norwegian salmon - fresh in the cryovac like packaging. Keeps for 7-10 days in the fridge and tastes TERRIFIC. read more

Just stopped in last week with a friend to see what it was all about. Had planned on picking up a few items, but ended up doing a whole grocery shop. Went mid-day and it wasn't crowded. This store smelled so good walking in, as the bakery is right near the entrance. Picked up a loaf of farmers bread and walnut bread, and split with my buddy...you can slice to your specs in a slicing machine. We loved this, and the bread was delicious. Everything else i purchased was top notch, and the pricing was outstanding. The hummus was particularly good. They have decent options for a ton of stuff...ie: there is lunchmeat for a great price, and an organic option for what you would pay for nonorganic at FL. So this is a great store if you are on a budget, pickier, or both. I am not a fan of ALDI's product selection and found Kroger (RIP) pretty expensive on some items i want, so always looking for deals. The local FL is generally unpleasant, And I wont hit the WF unless won a scratch-off or need something weird. This store hits the sweet spot. I can focus more on just getting everything I need for the week rather than running all over town to satisfy my household or budget. You can find the basics as far as groceries go and some random interesting finds throughout the store. Located on Falls of Neuse next to Walmart, this Lidl is a great addition to Raleigh. I used to shop at Lidl in Germany and went to the Sanford and Wake Forest locations before this Lidl opened on 11/16/217. The parking lot was busy so you may have to circle a few times. The bakery is right when you enter and I love the German sourdough bread. The bread slicer has 4-step directions and you pick your Bread, select the width, put it in the machine and take it out the bag it. The pretzels are my favorite and only 69 cents each. The meat and cheese select is very gourmet with prosciutto from Italy, cheeses from France and all kinds of international treasures. They also have the German lebkuchen this time of year and all the festive cookies. The prices are very reasonable, the quality is high and everyone working greeted us with a friendly smile. I also like the T-shirts that "hallo". Between Aldi and Lidl, you can get done really gourmet products and not break the bank. read more

Lidl is everything the local Aldi isn't - fresher produce, brighter lighting, better stocked shelves and a small but varied selection of freshly baked items both sweet and savory. It very much brings to mind my beloved European grocery store experiences, especially during the holidays. What a treat to find proper marzipan at a reasonable price! You'll be able to find everything here from raw ingredients and everyday pantry staples to frozen palak paneer, falafel and German praline candies. Many items are routinely carried but some are seasonal/limited supply, so if you see that indicated on the price signs I recommend making your move because chance is it won't be there when you come back for it. At the time we went some items lacked shelf stickers but the employees are friendly and ready to answer any questions you might have, such as price checking. The major downside to the Raleigh location is that getting out of the parking lot requires maneuvering around traffic on one of the most annoying roads in town; it would have been ideal to have the entrance/exit area placed at a traffic light or opening to a side street adjacent to a traffic light instead, as is an option at the nearby Costco. Still, the prices and selection are worth the mild inconvenience. Bring your reusable bags, grab a cart and hope your favourite item isn't sold out! read more

We were in the area for lunch and decided to swing by. I've been to Lidl's locations in Europe and remember the discount chain being fairly complementary to Aldi's as far as value. I haven't been to the local Aldi's since the makeover, but would say that on initial blush Lidl's does seem more upscale and has more amenities (such as a bakery and broader wine selection). Prices are competitive but not always the cheapest so it behooves shoppers to keep this in mind. Since Aldi's and Trader Joe's are much closer (2 and 5 miles respectively vs 30...) I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to include Lidl's in my grocery rounds unless I happen to be close. Hopefully they'll expand to Cary and provide even more competition to the delight of shoppers who seek the best value. read more

First time to this store today and I was VERY impressed! It's very similar to Aldi & Trader Joe's, where they have items for lower prices vs a traditional grocery store by having "off brand" items or items made specifically for their store. They do carry some name brands, but even those are at a discounted price. I felt like the store was closer to Trader Joe's as far as the quality vs Aldi. I was also impressed by the fact that they have a bakery, so their baked goods are fresh, unlike Trader Joe's and Aldi's. They also carried a lot of organic items, which is great! You don't need a quarter for the carts (unlike Aldi's), but you will need to bring your reusable bags (you can purchase bags at the store for $0.07 for paper or higher for their reusable bags) and you also have to bag your own grocery's, but I'm okay with that! read more

What grocery shopping should be like. While traveling I've come across several of these stores, and they are all the same design, good for quickly knowing it is a Lidl grocery+ store. The inside is clean, right away you notice that, you get the aroma of fresh baked goods, pretty much from the outset as the bakery is located to the side as you walk into the store. Fresh vegetables and fruit also catch you eye, quality is very good, and their is organic choices as well for both fruit and vegetables. What really gets me is the pricing, this place will make other grocers take notice to the way in which clean, quality products at much better pricing then the other big chains, and the customers are a wide mix. Couldn't help but notice that there were a lot of international shoppers, from european countries. One lady pointed out to me, as I looked at a german raspberry chocolate cookie, that she got those cookies in Germany all the time but could not find them here, she noted they are less expensive here than Germany. I bought two boxes and now keep them stocked in my cookie vault. I now make this a regular shopping spot when I get to North Raleigh or Sanford, as both stores are about equal driving time from home near Jordan Lake. read more

I stopped in here this morning for the first time and I was very impressed! The atmosphere has European vibes, the aisles are wider than most small grocery chains, and the prices were great! They had lots of fresh produce, including organic, and lots of fresh meats. I was bummed with the eggs though; the cage free selection were all ready to expire, along with cartons of the "Better than Eggs" egg substitute. The beer and wine selection was impressive; bigger than the selection at ALDI, not quite as large as Trader Joe's. The employees are all very friendly and helpful, and checking out was a breeze. I brought my own bags and they have counters similar to ALDI's where you bag your own groceries. Also, the parking lot is large and the carts don't require a quarter. I'm looking forward to adding LIDL to my weekly grocery shopping routine. It's also cool that you have Trader Joe's, ALDI and LIDL all right down the street from each other. read more
