I really hate giving bad reviews. That being said every once in awhile it's necessary to let people know the truth about a place. We were customers here for three and a half years which in the long run didn't matter to them at all. We rented an 5x10 unit from early 2021 to late 2024. At the beginning we were being charged $150 per month but by the end it was over $330 per month for the SAME unit (that we took great care of). Without getting too ranty, they constantly raised our rent and even fully charged us for our last month (Dec.'24) even though we had checked out by the 3rd day of that month. I attempted to contact the site manager, district manager, and customer service about the last months rent but was ghosted after many, many phone calls. They passed the buck between the three and NO ONE really helped us out. Here's the skinny, it gets extremely hot inside the building during the summer and very cold in the winter. The cold isn't too bad but in the peak of summer we couldn't even go in, it was that hot! The office is always closed and if you need something you MUST make an appointment via email. Extremely frustrating when you have a quick question or just want to pop in for supplies. If we didn't live two blocks away we wouldn't of stayed for as long as we did but in the end they really didn't appreciate our business at all. I've also attached photos so you can see the rate increases over the time we were regrettably there. I could go on but thinking about our time there brings back bad feelings and I'm trying to just forget it ever happened. Stay away or stay only for a month or two if you must because there is nothing worth staying longer than that. read more

Would give zero stars if given the option First off the $1 for the first month doesn't exist and they come up with some bogus reason. The woman who initially got us the unit made a seriously inappropriate comment to us but we shrugged it off because we needed a space for the next few months. The woman who gave us our unit didn't show it to us- didn't show us the gate. The entire time we had thought you enter and exit out of the same gate and wondered why the code never worked. It wasn't until another renter pointed out the hidden exit gate on the other side. I set up the cancellation weeks ago for today. I'm always charged on the second. Today being the first I had thought I was good to go. NOPE. They want to charge me for a whole other month and will not prorate the ONE day of the month I am here. THEY HAD WEEKS TO MENTION THIS TO ME. Supposedly they were set to call me today. Such a legitimate scam. Had I gotten an email, text, or phone call with that information I would have taken the day off of work yesterday and MOVED all of it from the unit. But wait- the store manager can't even transfer you to customer service agent! And when you call the number there's no way to speak to an actual person other than your property manager. GO TO EXTRA SPACE STORAGE. They are SUPER up front and call you with all info ahead of time. Had they had a space that was closer to me I would have and now I regret it completely. Just moved out of our unit after 6 months. If you need a hand cart or dolly and don't have your own, beware. They provide them as a courtesy only. You can never find one if they are there and I was told that they frequently get stolen. As a business we need in and out access and convenience. This is not so convenient if you need to provide your own hand cart. Additionally, the "LOCK" they require you to buy is yours to keep, yet it fits nothing but a PS locker. Seems they should just provide the lock or charge a deposit and get it back. Overall, the move in was fine and the move out was easy and location was convenient. Sadly, my issue is the facility itself. The hand carts are a big issue as almost everyone uses them. I had to provide my own to move out. read more

They say you can closeout your unit within the app but not really...can't find it. They make it hard for you to close out if not in person. Otherwise, the place is clean but not cheap. Rent keeps going up and up. Access hours are reasonable but not 24 hours. After hours, it's hard to reach anyone to help you unless like to listen to a recording that directs you back to the app. Depending on the personnel, some have attitudes. Just ignore that and go about my business. read more

The price increases at this facility each year are outrageous. Just be aware if you plan to store anything for an extensive period, your rate will probably double within a couple years. I found that he took the stress out of the rental process from day 1 by explaining everything required, from my initial visit to each following visit. Last summer, in my first experience with Public Storage, I showed up when the facility was scheduled to open that morning. I had already reserved my unit, and I needed the manager to help me get situated. I had already spoken with him, and he told me the hours he'd be there. The manager showed up a half-hour late. He's the only person I've seen working there, so there was no one else to help me. When I told him I was waiting, he told me he had to make a bank deposit. When I show up at a storage facility that is scheduled to be open at a certain time, I expect someone to be there and be professional about it. Yesterday, in my last experience with this facility, I had just cleared out my storage space when I ran into the manager and informed him that I wouldn't be needing the unit anymore. I went right to my car and drove straight to the exit gate. The manager had already canceled my code before I had time to exit, so I was locked in. It took me 15 minutes to find the manager after that, which made me late for my next appointment. I told him he locked me in by canceling my passcode before I had enough time to exit. He only responded by saying that I told him I was through with the unit. That was actually his response. I was upset, and he eventually offered an apology. However, I found it to be very smug and insincere. I never want to use this facility with management like this again. This is the first time I've written a negative review on Yelp. I hope no one else has this kind of experience. read more

UPDATE: After going through my things, I discovered that my tv was stolen. What is the purpose of having insurance forced on a customer when there are no security cameras to prove it was NOT an inside job? Got a call from a rep the other day that the lock was removed from my unit. Payments on time/uninterrupted since Day One and no one else has access to my storage unit. While this is still being investigated (they called me near closing), the male on the other line made the strangest comment - "It doesn't look like anything was taken...". How the heck would you know whether or not something was taken unless YOU looked inside prior to the call?????? Btw, I used my own padlock. According to Leslie, this type of lock is most likely to be cut by an outsider. She also said that cameras only show what goes on OUTSIDE of the facility. Funny, the Hawthorne (I had an account there prior to moving to Torrance) facility's camera's show everything throughout the premises. Also, whoever is on the job will do a check throughout but according to Leslie, there is no way to narrow down who visits. What's the sense of creating a security system? He needed his general managers approval for approval. 3 hours later he called to inform me I would not be allowed to access the unit I already paid for until the following day. This us a horrible storage facility. They bait you to come in by advertising first month free. Then when you go to reserve it they tell you it's based on availability and they have none available. The manager Lance was extremely rude. Horrible customer service skills. He was very nosy as well. I thought it was on that he was always lurking around trying to see what I had in my storage. Apparently there's been some break-ins over there. Hopefully he doesn't have anything to do with them. On top of that it took me four times to actually catch him in the office. He always had a sign out front saying that he would return in an hour. This happened four times in 1 day. I guess they take really long lunches over there. Terrible customer service from management and the district manager. I had a storage unit for nearly 2 years and when I vacated the unit, they messed up on the paperwork and now they can't be bothered to send me an email or letter stating that the mistake has been corrected on my account. I contacted the manager Christine (local manager) and Jeff Imai (district manager for Southern California region). I contacted Jeff 3 times over a two week period and he can't be bothered to call back to remedy the issue. Save yourself the headache and go to another storage facility, the customer service is terrible and they don't get off their butts to do anything to provide service to customers. I came into Public storage today to look at some units because my mom is planning on moving soon and she wanted me to give her some storage options. Walking into this location I was greeted by a very nice and respectful employee by the name Karen I believe it was. She responded to all my questions with poise and excellent knowledge about her job. I was given a tour around the area and I have to say it was one of the better taken care of places I've been to with plenty of options when it comes to storage space. I'm definitely putting this place as my #1 option for my mom when she does decide to move. read more

I hate giving bad reviews but this place just rubbed me the wrong way. First impression was a man standing in front of the door chain smoking. They didn't ask him to step around the corner. He just stepped aside for us to walk in then planted himself right in front of the door. I had called two weeks prior to my moving things into storage and the people on the phone talked about how it was a great deal and they're known for their prices. We reserved everything they even called me to remind me. I triple checked the pricing with them and they told me I was good to go. When I got there the storage unit was different from the size I reserved. So they went to show me the unit that would fit my stuff asking me to give them a list of everything I was putting in there and the girl started writing it down (I thought that was a little intrusive), the other lady then went on to tell me that it would be triple the price of what I was told initially. I told her I had the email stating what the pricing was and she told me that they don't give the full details over the phone. I'm sorry? What! Your company and the people on the phone basically don't work together or you're scamming me. She looked at me like she didn't know what to tell me. I grabbed my things and walked out. So I walk in today to get quotes on a storage for my business, and as soon as I walk in I am greeted by this very inviting smile and beautiful woman named Leslie. Instantly she made me feel very welcome and important. So as I began to describe to here what I needed she instantly showed me the perfect storage at an unbelievably affordable price. I was blown away by the way she catered to my every need and questions. I thought maybe she would be over me by some point because sometimes I am a little much. I am writing a review on this location because I had TWO units here for a very long time and I just have to let people know that Public Storage is a glorified SCAM storage company. If we did what they do we would all be in jail. They PRICE GOUGE, INTENTIONALLY RATE MANIPULATE and take ZERO RESPONSIBILITY. They increased my rate on my unit even though the published rate decreased. When I question it they stalled and did not call me back. Then they take ZERO responsibility. With my move in I was satisfied but after that I'm really dissatisfied with a costumer service... So I moved in in the middle of march. They explained to me that for the first month it's going to be $1 plus $22 moving in fee (or whatever) plus $9 insurance that I Must have. Okay. I get the invoice through email and there is $3 balance that was as of march 11.. Wierd cuz I moved in that day so what are you charging me for?! Plus when I called to the location noone would pick up the phone for 30 mins from 4 to 4:30.. When someone finally did she tells me to hang on cuz she has a costumer and leaves me on hold for 7 mins, I got tired and hang up. Excuse me, am I not a costumer?
