MOUSE INFESTED DISASTER. Do not, do not, DO NOT rent from this facility or company if you have anything of value. We rented two units for a little over a year and recently moved out. 30% of our possessions were destroyed by a mouse infestation. Mouses feces and urine covered every box and piece of furniture. Many boxes were "occupied" with contents destroyed. The Property manager "Raven" said she was "sorry, but there was little she would do" and even refused use of the dumpster, meaning we had to transport mouse "infested boxes" to home. We have confirmed at least three more units have also had mouse infestations. Insurance? We were told our homeowner's would cover ANY damage; however, our claim was denied because "rodent damage" was not a "named peril." Fine print to avoid paying the claim. Public Storage also hides behind the fine print in the contract to accept any responsibility for their filthy, rodent-infested property. The property is rundown and in disrepair. Other unit door seals are worn out and have partially rotted away, leaving plenty of space for hordes of mice to enter from the woods and fields next to the property. We contacted the "we (don't) care" support department, submitted a request. Even spoke with the district manager Scott McBride who promised to help and said he would graciously refund 1 month rent. Little did I know, he was lying and has stopped answering his phone. Public Storage has a saying, "Extension of your home" ... "100% satisfaction" ALL LIES! AVOID this company and especially the St. Charles facility at all costs. They will do nothing to fix your problems and take care of your property like it was stored in an old shed in the woods. read more

Fool you with cheap first month. Then proceed to jack up monthly rate as much as they can. Rate now $183 a month, when can get the same 10x10' unit for $86 online... What a joke. Will be using another storage unit from now on. read more

I originally thought I'd need a bigger unit, but it turns out I could get by with something smaller. This place was great. They treated me well and were helpful and accommodating. I got my first month free which was a good value. I was able to switch units without any problems. read more

Very nice and organize storage area. However, one little minus it's a self-help place. so there's no one that can help you I wanted to return my lock provided by public storage because I wanted to use my own. I couldn't. I was told through the phone to go to a different store to return the lock. read more

I can hardly believe the lack of customer service and provision for a situation that is unpreventable due to the covid19 virus. We are not able to get a piece of registration paperwork because the government office is shut down due to this virus. Public storage is unwilling to work with us. Stating "policy is policy". In a time of history that is so unprecedented I am completely shocked and appalled by that type of leadership. Very poor decision making makes me not want to work with this company at all. Had storage unit for 6 years, was disappointed to not get a refund of unused portion of the rent for the last month, should have been about 60% refunded. During the loading process toilet does not work, have to stop everything and leave to use a toilet. Asked for unit to be cancelled, was advised it would be done that day. Checked today and still on autopay. Stopped autopay and did online checkout as office staff apparently is useless. read more

Honestly, the price increase is just getting ridiculous at this point, but stick around to hear the worst part. I started off with a 7x10 indoor unit, for $99 dollars, I am now renting the same unit for $145 (both include insurance). I never go to the storage unit just because it's not on the way or near where I currently live. But the last time I did go there, I found a dead baby mouse in my storage unit, by the door. Luckily, it looked like it just died, so I was able to remove it before it started decomposing and smelling up the indoor units. It was hot out so It would have really stunk up the place. Upon removing it, I noticed a completely decomposed mouse right outside someone's outdoor unit, and right by their door (I have pictures of both). I noticed some marks on the floor of my unit (as if something had previously died there), which makes me think that, that wasn't the first time a mouse had died or visited my unit. I have everything boxed and wrapped so I'm glad I took the extra time to make sure none of my items were exposed for mice to get at. I understand that mice do get into units sometimes, but I feel like for the money that people pay, the least they can do is take the time to make sure mice are being kept out of storage units (or do a little more to ensure they stay out). Also, I know that some storage facilities argue that the reason for the increase in price is due to demand. However, I did check online and noticed that the same storage unit (7x10 + climate control) at this facility is available for $86, actually, the 10x10 climate controlled are cheaper than my basic 7x10. Doesn't make sense, but they get who they can. I am in the process of looking for something else and I can't wait to get out of here. I do want to add that the workers there are very polite and kind, so I have no complaints about that. The only thing that's concerning is that google reviews shows negative reviews from years and years ago. Which is weird considering I have seen the indoor unit hall have water (leak?), the outside units have opening for mice to sneak in, and overall It just doesn't look very well kept. Visibly there are a few units that are not in the best shape. Sorry for the negative review, but that's the honest truth. If stuff gets damaged that's your problem, and they are not liable for rodent damage. So in other words, If you plan on storing valuables or things you care about don't leave it here. They know that there is a very high chance your stuff will get ruined, that's why In their terms and conditions they emphasize that you don't bring valuables. It's ridiculous. You basically are taking a chance here, and the chance of your stuff getting ruined is EXTREMELY high! read more

My husband called and got a quote for a storage unit. The next day Russ left a voicemail to follow up to see if we were still interested. We were out running errands so we stopped by around 2:30. Russ greeted us even though we didn't have an appointment (no one else was there) and talked about showing us some units. Before we could go take a look, he answered a phone call. He proceeded to take the phone call (seemed like a personal call from a colleague) as we waited. We ended up leaving because it didn't sound like he was ending the call anytime soon. read more

Easy move in. But terrible service upon moving out. Upon move out storage unit was fully cleaned and emptied. Office was notified of move out, no further instruction was given upon my notice that I was moving out. Placed call to office following month after moving out, because was auto billed for additional month. Only then was instructed needed to leave storage lock unlocked (locks were provided by company). Informed them I will remove lock and requested a refund for month of storage since unit was emptied and cleaned, was not informed or given instructions upon moving out. Request was denied. Requested for prorated payment as it was not even the whole month additional month. Office person said no refund and nothing more. I would rather go to the previous company I used in the past even though it is a little further. Prior storage company used I did not have any issues upon moving out and clear instructions were given to me prior to moving out. read more

Had a good experience here until my move out. Upon moving out we found mouse droppings in the unit and paint had been peeled off the furniture due to the high humidity in my "climate controlled unit". Also, there is no dumpster on site for guests to use. When asked, the manager said it would not be worth it to spend hundreds of dollars to have customer trash removed. I would spend your money elsewhere. Not a great price and you really do not get much. Denise was very nice when we signed, not very nice when we left. This was my first time renting a storage unit and Denise made the process a breeze! She was very professional on the phone, and flexible regarding when I could schedule an appointment to sign all my paperwork. She was also very patient with me upon my arrival as I was juggling a work phone call and a small child... She was helpful and answered all my questions. The storage unit itself was clean and dry with a nice lock. It was also convenient to have moving boxes on site for purchase - saved me a trip to the Home Depot. Great location! read more

Placed my apartment in storage here for a few months. When I went to recover my belongs they all were wet and covered in mold. All public storage said was that they were not liable. Basically the spot took 70 bucks a month from me to ruin my belongings. read more
