Even though I had already approved an online purchase of a unit I'd never seen before, she immediately reassured me that my happiness came first. She told me that if I wasn't satisfied, she would personally make sure I got the perfect unit -- and she did exactly that. She helped me switch to another storage unit, and I am *beyond ecstatic* with my new space. Because of her kindness, patience, and genuine care, my horrible, stressful moving-out situation became lighter, calmer, and surprisingly meaningful. She reminded me that good people still exist and that kindness truly matters. Jessica even mentioned how she regularly walks the property and checks on units for safety, which instantly made me feel secure and comfortable about storing my belongings here. She went the extra mile and gave me her business number so if I ever had questions or needed help when no one was around, she'd be just a call away. Pretty solid Public Storage facility in NoHo aka North Hollywood. They do make getting in and out of the gate a bit of a project with the keypads not super accessible for driving up, however, the customer service is smooth and friendly. Located on Sherman Way just past Lankershim before the Home Depot shopping center and adjacent to Salsa & Beer as well as miscellaneous small local businesses. Everything is accessible with your code including the elevators. They usually have doll carts around or available whether you're loading or unloading storage. It's never busy and even when it is you rarely run into anyone near your unit with a good amount of room to spread out, reorganize or organize, etc. Highly recommend! read more

Public Storage - Self Storage Near Me - North Hollywood, California

Haven't seen anyone in the office for a while now so no one is monitoring the homeless people that seem to pop in and out of the building. Bluetooth connectivity for gate access hasn't worked for the past week. This caused cars to line up to get in and out, especially near closing time. I was out 2min after the cutoff time and got a nasty note that after-hours exit is not permitted, even when it's well known and even mentioned when moving in that the gate will work for up to 10min after the cut off. They stated that there was plenty of time to access with their "convenient" hours, as if a 5pm cutoff on Sat evening is convenient. I'm in a new place with 24hr access now so never again will I need to deal with Public Storage. read more

Avoid this storage facility at all costs. I was paying several hundred dollars a month expecting secure storage, and instead, multiple boxes were stolen from my unit. These weren't just random items--they included irreplaceable sentimental belongings and valuables totaling several thousand dollars in damages. When I reported the theft, the staff was completely unhelpful and dismissive. Instead of showing concern or taking immediate action, they told me I had to go file a police report before they'd even consider reviewing the security camera footage. So not only was I the victim of theft, but I was also the one being burdened with the responsibility of doing their job for them. There was no apology, no sense of urgency, and no effort to support me through the situation. Just cold, robotic responses and a clear lack of accountability. Bait and Switch Public Storage has been nothing but difficult for me. You get sucked in with a good rate and within two months they raised it 25%. After a year, they've raised it from that amount, not the original, 33%. And you get thirty days notice in August and when you try to take to them you can almost hear them laughing at you in the background. They say that's the market rate, but it's determined by them. It's not based on an industry average or government average for the area. If you went in thinking they were really going to use a real metric, you're screwed. Sort of like, if your new neighbor moves in and pays a higher rate, now you have to as well, regardless of you lack time there or lack of any improvements. And BTW - it's not well air conditioned if you care about that. I wasted so much money dealing with them. My other place raised their rates right after I rented a second unit and moved, thinking how great Public Storage was. I should have stayed with the same place. Definitely taking advantage of people further down the financial ladder. But hey, I may have just helped their stock price. When I worked retail, it was a bad thing to hold the customer in contempt. People got fired for it. Seems Public Storage is the new model of social selfishness. read more

I absolutely hate their business model. It's scammy and more stress than a relief. I com here to remove the stress of storing my things only to have them raise the price of my hot clammy unit by 60.00. They will essentially force you to move out right after you get there. within 2 months they will raise the rate so high that its stupid to keep your stuff there. They know you have all you things in there, and use that to have you essentially stuck with either moving your things or pay the amount. It's hot in the summer and crickets every where On top of that, the attitude you get is more condescending than helpful. I hated my experience, and will not ever go back. read more

The way this company increases rates to loyal customers is despicable. About double what it was when I moved my stuff in two years ago. And the rates increase quickly from the beginning. If they told you how much they were going to increase the rates at the beginning no one would use this place. Instead, after you've gone through the expense of moving everything in, you're now faced with having to pay to move everything out again or pay their astronomical rates. The people at the front desk are friendly and easy to work with, however that doesn't make up for the amount of money this corporation rips people off. In most businesses, loyal customers who pay on time are rewarded. In this case they just try to swindle you out of your money. The longer you are there, the more they will try to rip you off. At the moment, they are offering the exact same space I'm in for $117/month. They are charging me $254/month. That's a fact. The rep says well we've increased the price to market value. The market value is at the most, what they are currently charging! $117! Find another place. read more

They are selling chairs that they know are going to rip or fall apart within months. They provide the adjacent address for 11628 Sherman Way but then they direct you to a unit in the parking lot of the public storage. They have hundreds of duplicate ads on craigslist to scam people into buying damaged chairs on their last leg. The guy running the operation is named Marcial Oliveros. Do not use this storage facility. We had movers scheduled to deliver to our storage room but when we arrived the closest elevator to our storage unit was broken. We had to use an elevator much much farther away adding significant time to the load in. And resulting in us having to pay the movers more due to the increased time. When I went to the office to discuss with the property manager, the office was closed even tho it very clearly stated the office would be open til 5:30. This was at 2pm. When I called, I was told there was nothing they could do. When I asked for a discount off the first month to account for having to pay my movers more, they said no. Nothing offered. No solution what so ever. Just bad bad customer service. Strongly advise to not use this company. read more

Honestly, renting storage units is stressful! I want to know my stuff is safe. I want to know there aren't any bugs and I want the staff (when I do have to talk to them )to be really chill and friendly. Well! I found it! Everyone is really nice, my stuff has been here for about 6 months and so far- so good! I only come back every so often to grab random things for traveling and I never see trash or loiterers ever! I've had at least one unit here consistently for the past 12 or so years. I chose this location for the individual alarms, the cleanliness, the security, and the climate control, and was ok paying a little extra for those benefits. But over the last 6 or 7 years, the billing practices at this location have become so random that I can't keep track of how many times a year they raise my rent. I pay during the grace period. Usually before the 10th. Sometimes I pay on the 8th and they tack on a late fee. Sometimes I go to pay on the third, and they've raised my rent. At the same time, units even larger than my very large unit are available for me to rent on line for at least 60 dollars a month less than what I pay for my unit. So i call, I talk to the district manager. He'll agree to reduce my rent increase a bit, never explaining the increase or justifying why it happened in the first place, Why treat loyal customers SO badly? The price for that new, bigger unit I could reserve? That's what I initially rented my unit for 12 years ago---so they wouldn't profit if I left. It's bad business and unfair business practices. I'm a good tenant. I never go there. The stuff in my unit is worthless, but it's organized and neat. I don't bother the homeless guys who live out of some of the units, and my rent has never been delinquent. Even if I was the worst tenant, I just don't see how its fair or ethical to raise rent without notice, reason, or any consistency. Obviously though, they do this at will, because I see in all the bad reviews, I'm not the only victim. I've always felt safe there, until reading that recent review by Terrance that the newer manager Felicia broke into his unit and robbed it. What an awful thing. DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE $1 Promotion. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE. We got a storage unit here, going with the $1 promo. Then it went to $171 a month after the promo ended. After that, almost every month, public storage raised the monthly rent and now just one year later, the monthly rent is up to $246 a month. ONE YEAR. Absolutely obnoxious. And of course they can do this because you have all of your crap in storage, and who the heck is going to want to rent another UHaul to move to another storage locker. This place is ridiculous. Absolutely Obnoxious. They have you cuffed and they purposefully suck you in with the $1 promo and then raise rents again and again and again. I mean, what exactly changed? NOTHING. We keep our things stored. Rents haven't changed in the area for homes, why the heck is storage rents up so high? We don't use additional electricity, no additional space, no additional services, nothing. Needless to say, after one year of absolutely being ripped off and abused, we are done. We are taking our things, putting it online and selling it. Getting rid of our crap so we can get the hell out of public storage and stop paying this money pit. read more

Beware of storing valuables here. My spot was nicked pretty bad, and they took absolutely no responsibility and offered no apology whatsoever. The security footage is useless because it's erased within a short time. I'm more critical of the management of the company than I am of any of the employees at this location. If all you have is furniture, household stuff, etc, alright, it might do, but if you have valuables, even with extra insurance, beware of this place. read more

I have used the facility twice now and both times have been amazing. Both Phelicia and Haden helped me with my most recent needs for a unit in June and they were both nothing but helpful, kind and courteous! The transaction was fast, but at the same time they were very personable and down to earth. We spent a few minutes chatting before I was walked to my space and they didn't rush me or get annoyed when I asked questions. The people at this location are top notch and if you're in the market looking for storage, you need to check this place out. This location is clean and was convenient for me, but what they do is that you can get good deal to move-in, then after 6 months they almost doubles the price. I am an active duty service member and currently in overseas deployment, so I can not move out my stuff so far. I spoke to store Manager and she really does not care who and why. She straight refer me to a district manager. I tried a few times to reach that guy and left a few voicemails, but never got response back. After my deployment I will deferentially move my stuff out from that place only reason that they doubles the rent every 6 months at least that's happened to me. So that's what I am experiencing right now, so be aware what might happen to other people too. read more

Johanna was so helpful and friendly ! Very knowledgable and easy to work with. After having my stuff in my SUV for two weeks in the California sun she was such a relief to have help me. The lot is clean and very safe. Easy up navigate and air conditioned (again California heat lol) . The price is fine at base level but after "admin fees" (I find to be such a joke), insurance and lock it shoots up a bit more than expected. Public Storage is an awesome company with the best deals, and this particular location was my silver lining in a total nightmare of a move! I took advantage of the $1 for the first month deal, and the unit I got was climate controlled and a little larger than I really needed. When I found out that I was going to have to overstay my month by 9 days, they pro-rated my account so I only had to pay $60 more total. So, all together with taxes and insurance, my storage for 40 days only cost me about $85 out the door. Additionally, every time I called they were always kind, knowledgable, and eager to help. Anytime I called or stepped in there I felt a sense of calm and security, which is absolute GOLD to someone going through a stressful move. That location is also never packed in my experience, so there is always immediate assistance available, as well as a free dolly for any transportation of goods. Thank you Public Storage!!! read more

YOUR STUFF IS NOT SAFE HERE. YOU WILL BE ROBBED. A month ago I expressed concern that my unit had been tampered with but was told by public storage that the tampering (a huge hole in the door) was from a previous tenant -- they refused to show proof and were obviously annoyed that I inquired about it. A week ago, my unit was robbed. I lost $20,000 worth of vintage clothing I spent the last decade painstakingly collecting, as well as family items of priceless sentimental value. Neither public storage or LAPD is doing anything to help, not so much as an expression of empathy or gesture of understanding. Instead, I just got an email notification today that my newly robbed and now mostly empty storage unit is getting a rent hike starting in September (I won't be there anymore but wtf how is this real life?). Phelicia helped me out with a couple of really odd situations from a long ago storage unit in another place that Public Storage acquired and she went above and beyond even though that wasn't her building/contract.
