You ever feel like you're going to turn the corner and run into a zombie? This is how I feel every time I come here, not because it's dirty or because they have scary people here. It's just so damn quiet and cold. Feels like a morgue, a place where all the stuff you don't have space for goes to die, or be sold off lol. I've had this storage space since 2004, lol way before it was a public storage. I started paying at $69.00 and now I'm paying around $170 plus taxes etc. they hiked my prices up $10 every year using lame excuses like maintenance fees and cleaning fees etc. The thing that bothers me the most is my storage has a pipe that runs through the middle of it and even though my sq footage is compromised I still pay the same amount as someone who doesn't have the pipe running through the middle. I rented this storage out of convenience because it was so close to my home, now I live on the other side of the country and if I had enough time when I visit, I would probably find somewhere closer to my parents with better rates. The plus side is that it's conveniently located between my parents and the places I frequent when i am in town, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Anyway, can you guys give me a better rate? I should have seniority on a price. I've probably paid 3 times the amount of what I'm keeping stored by now. Thanks for the stress and safe keeping. Horrible customer service. Takes a 1/2 hour on hold to speak to anyone. They then raise your rent on your unit rapidly. They have doubled the rent on my unit and then offer the same unit on line at less than 1/2 the price. They take advantage of their good clients. read more

My initial experience with Public Storage was not the best. I was assigned a storage unit that was up for auction, and currently being utilized. The office was closed, so I was stuck with my things and no where to put them. Luckily, Sharon was there the next day. She seems to be the only competent employee that works there. She was able to fix the mess up not only at this location, but also help me with a matter at another location where they never processed my refund on a unit that I never used. Sharon was competent, kind and fixed the matter professionally. I'm very glad she was there, because honestly if she did not help me I would have likely taken my stuff and left, never to return. She single handedly fixed my problems at two different locations and was so kind about it. Public Storage needs a lot more Sharon's. Because based on my experience, the employees at Public Storage are inconsiderate and incompetent outside of her. I reserved on line thinking that it will be easy to use the storage specially it is in my neighborhood. I'm 65 years old and to my surprise, I had to use ladder to access the storage. I did not see any info that the storage is located above another storage. Also, why don't have any choice to waive insurance. Very disappointed. DO NOT RENT HERE! Pros: The staff is very nice. Cons: They work for a corrupt company whose CEO must lack a soul! They're doing the devil's work for less than $50k I'm sure. This is a classic tale of American capitalism, deception and greed! There are many loopholes in the safety and security here. If you must rent here, do not buy their insurance! IT IS A SCAM! Bring a homeowner's or renter's insurance policy with you when show up. Their insurance company will give any bogus reason to not pay out claims. I'm curious to know what percentage of their claims are actually approved. I've been renting here for 3 years. My storage unit was recently burglarized. MY LOCK WAS NOT BROKEN OFF; BUT MANY ITEMS ARE MISSING! Because I've been paying for their insurance policy, that I was told that I had to have at the time I moved in, I filed a police report and insurance claim. Needless to say, they denied my claim. The goal is to get as many consumers to buy coverage, only to deny claims when things happens. Their reasoning for denying my claim is that there is no proof of forced entry! No, my lock wasn't broken off but clearly some really savvy thieves found their way inside. It could've been the mesh ceiling or wall! In my case, it is believed that the tenant next door to me removed the screws from the adjoining wall, then took just some of my things in hopes that I wouldn't notice and put the wall back. The district manager sawed the lock off the neighboring unit and went inside with police officers and detectives to see that the screws in that unit were mixed and matched. Some were even missing. The wall was also somewhat misaligned. The renter had virtually nothing in there, which proves that he uses his lawful access to the facility to steal from other tenants. Because I am missing two big luggage sets, that wall seems to be the best way that thief was able to take them, along with other things. Two of the items that I am missing were placed in the unit on April 17th. They were gone when I returned on May 2nd. The insurance company wouldn't accept footage of me dropping items off just weeks before as proof that I had it there! When the employees of Public Storage reviewed the alleged thief's access history, it was found out that the man had been there regularly and spent an hour or more in the facility on occasions. The security footage from the parking lot shows him leaving with nothing at all even after staying there over an hour. Another video shows him putting several things in his car. However, the surveillance video is so poor, especially compared to the technology that currently exists, that we couldn't make out the items that he loaded into his car. The police could barely make out faces on the footage. Since his personal lock has been sawed off and he's been locked out of the unit, that tenant has not been back to fight his case. This speaks volumes about his guilt. How is it that he'd been there regularly in the past, but now he's missing in action? Weeks have gone by and the same lock that was was placed on his unit by management is still there. What makes matters worst is that when the city of NBV police arrived on the scene, they noticed that their unit, which is on the other side of my old unit had been burglarized also! The wire ceiling above their units was cut open. The staff told the officers that they didn't know how long their ceiling was cut open like that! So they don't even check regularly! I was given a new unit to make me feel more comfortable. The one they gave me had a wired ceiling that was already busted open! I rejected it! The ceiling in that unit is still busted weeks later. The ugly truth is that THERE IS NO WAY TO REALLY SECURE YOUR ITEMS HERE! Don't let their big display of camera monitors in the office make you feel safe! There are about 3 cameras! None in the elevators or on the floors. The pedestrian doors to the gate can be opened without a code. The entrance to the facility is open 24/7. All of this makes it super easy for people to get in and pick through people's things without ever being caught. There's even possibility of violent attacks without any proof of the crime! Employees will insist that you have to have insurance at the time of move-in BUT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BUY THEIR INSURANCE SCAM! Based on my research and my recent experience, Public Storage is scamming the American public out of millions of dollars via the bogus insurance policy that is forced upon tenants. Its affiliate, Sedgwick CMS is wrongfully denying claims to satisfy its client--Orange Door Insurance. Do not be fooled. Orange Door Insurance is just a subsidary of Public Storage. They have no intention on providing insurance for the safety of your property.Their goal is simple--take your money and keep it. I've read horror stories of customers on various websites that were denied claims even when their lock had been broken off! read more

I can't speak for all Public Storage facilities (especially when some are only accessible through out door entrances) but I can speak highly about this particular storage facility and how it is maintained in North Bay Village; for I've used them twice. The first time was consolidating after moving from NBV back to the beach; convenience couldn't have been better; they were literally around the corner. At the time (2007) they were also pretty inexpensive so moving several times (first to Surfside then back to Miami Beach) I was able to get a large unit then scale back to something smaller which I finally discontinued @ 2010. Because of new evil landlords (read my review for Residences of South Beach) I knew it was time to pack and move (again) and once more chose to rely on this particular Public Storage because of it's (a) proximity; (b) affordability (higher than others because it's air conditioned) and safety features (I think the interior of that building would withstand a potential hurricane and leave my valuables safe in their clutter). And as life is full of changes to keep us resilient and only partially sober, after planning on a part-time move to Sunrise I ended up moving permanently to Fort Lauderdale (momma gets around). This time I had to now close my account (again) and see about a refund; I had erroneously paid out a few months in advance; the staff could not have been more helpful or cordial and settled me up right then and there. Lamentably the (much needed) refund check won't set sail for quite a few weeks - but still, I won't be further charged either and there will be some money coming back - so because of their cleanliness, proximity to Miami Beach and Miami, and the safety of the building - I give Public Storage of North Bay Village four well deserved stars! read more

On my second trip over, around closing time, Alain assisted me with packing two large paintings. He seemed happy to help. Everything is now securely tucked away and I can rest easy. I just recently rented at public storage north bay village. The girl at the desk was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable, personable, and really took the time to evaluate what my needs, informed me of specials they had and really tried to give me the best value which was much appreciated. She also wrote down their direct number for that location. I previously had rented at the public storage in sunny isles and this location was soooo much better. The reason I am writing this is to inform whatever manager or management in charge of this facility to look deeper into the training of your staff. I was set upp with my unit by Rose and she was impeccable, PROFESSIONAL and extremely helpful. I have had to call a couple of times and receive information about my unit and have always been helped and have been overall pleased. HOWEVER, there is always an exception to the rule. I guess today was that day. I am constantly in and out of town for work and do not have Public Storage set up to come directly out of my account because my husband pays it sometimes. Long-Short, I get behind sometimes and have to call sometimes to check the status of my account. Now your "employee" Brevinya answered the phone firstly with a greeting tone as if I was calling a family member. Secondly I told her very simply that I needed to know the last day I had before or if my unit was going into auction. Very simple question......so she gets my unit number and starts telling me information about my account that I already know. Ie. how much was due, my payment I made wasn't pending yet on the system, the price of tea in China and a whole bunch of other crap that I never even asked her. My question is WHY COULDNT SHE JUST ANSWER MY INITIAL QUESTION!!!! I could've taken 3 seconds. So I finally stop her rant about how my bank account should be set up, and said....can you please just tell me the last day I can pay before my unit goes into auction. FINALLY she tells me June 24. I said OK but why didnt you tell me that earlier, that's why Im calling?. Her response was "you asked me that earlier on in the conversation I didn't hear you ask me anything more than once." My question to Brevinya why isnt one time good enough. If someone asks you something, you respond to THEIR question. I know it's a very hard concept to get, but Im sure if you keep trying youll get it. The absolute insane crazy thing about it is, because I had the feeling shes not the most keen listener. I called back and asked her "is the date you gave me an auction date OR the last day I have to pay. Guess what folks......DING DING DING!!!!!!!!!! she gave me the auction day. I very slowly explained to her.. that my ORIGINAL QUESTION was wwwwhhhhhheennnn isss theee laaasst ddayyyy toooo payyyyy beeefoooree myyyy unnnit goesssss intoooooo aaauuctiooon. Then she says "well that would be June 23 then." WOW Is all I can say to this. One simple question took 2 phone calls and too long to get. Luckily I called back to be sure. Train this girl ASAP.
