This location is terrible. You can never reach the manager and when I called to tell them I was leaving because they went up on my rent $70 at one time , I couldn't reach the manager . I called the main public storage number and talked to an operator and I told her that I tried to reach the manager and told her my issues. She said that they couldn't go down on the rent and I told her that I was moving out and she said she would make sure and let the manager know . Now they claim I owe them $335 for a month that my stuff was already moved out . I will fight this all the way . I'm not going to be a victim of a manager who can't answer a phone or give someone a call back . They constantly raise the rent and you get nothing in return but crap service. read more

Pam was great! Husband and I just moved back from six years in California and needed a space for his bike for a month or two. The one we booked was big enough inside but the width of the door was too small to fit the bike through. Pam got us into another unit (with easier access too vs the other one) right away. Secondly while doing the paper work for the unit the young lady named Emily made me believe I had to take their insurance on my contents. First review ever but went through the hassle to set a yelp as I was getting railroaded by this place You start off thinking you got a deal. As I'm signing the contract the grimiest sales person ever was lying right to my face. Said I had to buy their lock, $12 bucks, I go to the unit and see people using personal locks. They told me I had to buy their insurance. I asked if my homeowners would work in place of that. They said they didn't know but I had to buy today to move in. After I moved in I called my agent who said I was covered for storage unit, so I reached out to the storage place who told me if have to get a copy of my policy to prove it...I ended up just going online and canceling their insurance with one click. After 5 months they cranked up rent 23%. They told me their prices have gone up. I showed them their new rental prices were the same when I bought so that's a lie. Then God blessed me with the ability to move my crap out of here. Of course the 3rd day of the month. They don't do partial refunds for unused days. That sales lady just sucks. My experience with this company left me knowing that under Public Storage policy, there is no obligation to make sure a unit has been vacated by a customer before 'vacating' a unit in their system and re-renting the unit! That must be the reason they make you have insurance- because THEY REALLY DON'T CARE whether or not you or a thief has removed a lock on a unit. UNBELIEVABLE!! I have been renting from this location off and on since it was Morningstar, but clearly times have changed at this storage facility. I cannot recommend this facility and suggest finding a different company to rent from. The regional manager refused to acknowledge whether or not a phone call to the customer inquiring if they had moved out is reasonable. Then either his cell phone "dropped signal" or he hung up without answering this question. He didn't even bother calling back the office phone I was handed to talk to him. This was one of several units I was considering. In the beginning the price was what sold me; $1 rent for the first month AND for the cost of a 5x10 was less than other units were offering for a 5x5. But what was amazing was how professional, courteous, and genuine the staff was from the beginning. The woman who helped me get started explained their schpeal on lock checks, police routes, video cameras, etc. which was quite reassuring, and really took an interest in some of my concerns and questions. I've never had a problem with other leasers; those I've seen or talked to are nice enough, and several of them use this facility to store their landscaping materials for work. Every time I've been here it has been clean and quiet, and, to be honest, I'm here far too often digging out something I'd forgotten I'd packed up already. read more

My experience renting at PS on Monroe Rd. Charlotte was terrible. Their practices are, at best, unprofessional, at worst outright deceptive through omission. After making an online reservation I was immediately called to set up an appointment. Only after arriving did I learn that unless you bring your own lock, you are obliged to purchase theirs; without proof of home-owners insurance, you are obliged to purchase theirs, as well as other small "nickel & dime" annoyances. Small things that could have easily been disclosed online or when speaking with their representative before I made the trip. Their onsite manager referred me to their Regional Manager, Brien Cooley. Brien was condescending and argumentative. Employing a dismissive manner, he suggested that if I didn't like their practices, "rent elsewhere". Out of time and patience, I chose to rent the unit. I hope that PS will reconsider how they attract and disclose to potential customers. I strongly recommend basic training in "conflict resolution" be made available to their managers. I rented the unit, but the experience was not worthy of the single star I gave. read more

Public Storage is a band of thieves. Yes, I've been late - I own that. They cut your lock off (you know, the one you paid them almost $20 for. Then they call to tell you the lock has to be replaced. You start your rent at less than $100/month - in less than 4 years it doubles. They call you - usually with a person that barely speaks English every month until you finally get smart enough to block their number. Wish I had a garage, wish I had a garage, wish I had a garage. The group manager, the office manager, and most of the counter people are freakin' miserable and treat their customers like unwelcome guests. UGH!!!!! read more

The people working here are nice but have no power to deal with much. The space is decent but I have also just been surprised with a price increase after just 8 months. Worse, when I needed an additional space, I was told by everyone up to district management that they would not give me the advertised special available to anyone off the street because I was an existing customer. This was not to get a break on what I had but for a second separate space... more revenue for them, right? This concept exceeded their grasp and demonstrated that they missed the Marketing 101 class where it was taught that it's cheaper to keep an existing customer than get a new one. So the major problem is with Public Storage management at the higher levels. They don't care about me so I don't care about them. I rented at another facility and as soon as that location has another space open up I will clear everything out of Public Storage. Instead having having me rent two spaces, they will soon be renting me none. And that's all on them. read more

I went into this Public Storage location to rent a unit to store books. The person who waited on me...property manager Pam...spoke to me in a demeaning, sarcastic manner when I declined to buy their $17.95 lock. I went to Walmart and bought a lock. When I came back, she looked at it and said it was insufficient for use their, and I would have to go back to Walmart and buy another lock. Fortunately, a higher up was there and allowed me to ahead with the lock. Then when I asked about putting my payments on bank draft, she said that sometimes the bank doesn't get them the money on time and I would have to pay late charge.
