I have moved 10 times in 13 years. Of those moves across various regions and distances, I have contracted 7 different moving companies. 485 movers is easily in my top 2 companies which have successfully moved my belongings with zero damage while greatly exceeding my expectations. Oleg and his partner were not only lighting fast while unpacking my fully stuffed POD, but they were also so careful and quiet that my 7 month old daughter didn't even stir from her nap. I am truly blown away by the speed, quality, and courtesy that these movers exhibited (on a Sunday morning no less) and honestly struggle to believe the negative reviews that have been left previously. Obviously, crews and customer experiences may vary but even so, I would happily contract 485 Movers again for my next moves considering the previous experiences I have had with other companies and the outstanding work of Oleg's crew that I had the pleasure of working with. I was told that we could expect our movers between 8 and 8:30 am. Oleg's crew arrived at 8:01 am and worked non-stop until the16 foot POD was empty. This only took 2 hours. I still can't figure out how they managed to accomplish this feat in 2 hours as this has averaged 6 hours in the past. Not a single mark on the walls. Not a single ding in my furniture. The crew also ensured that absolutely everything was located precisely where I wanted it and confirmed everything was properly placed before receiving payment. Really top notch service at a bargain price. As to the reviews which cite potential language barriers as an obstacle in a borderline racist tone: I speak English only. The mover's primary language was clearly not English but this did not present a single barrier or hinder their work in the least. Oleg just asked what/where each room was, then simply brought the labeled furniture/boxes to their respective rooms. I do not see how not speaking fluent and beautiful English would have improved this experience in any way at all. In fact, the worst movers I've had the displeasure of contracting with in the past (Boston Best Rate) spoke lovely English while also stealing about $1000 in personal property. I chose this moving company based off some good reviews I read on another site or I must've been looking at another company. The low score is based off the speed and carelessness of the (2) men who assisted with my move from a (2) bedroom apartment on the 1st floor into another (2) bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor (elevator equipped). The drive from my old apartment to the new community is 12-15 minutes. First off, my correspondence via email with the company was great. I reached out to them 2 months prior to my move and they confirmed my requested move date. I requested (2) movers for a (2) bedroom 1295 sq. ft. apartment. I also request boxes - moving supplies to pack. I was told that they could provide. Not the case. Somehow, the person I was corresponding with misinterpreted my request and assumed that I was asking for something else. Once the movers arrived, I got a little nervous because I wasn't sure if they could speak English. 1 guy could and that was great, however, what wasn't great was his understanding of how to complete the job and constant use of his 1st language to converse with his colleague around me. That is extremely annoying. Also, I wasn't sure that the company gave him an overview of the job/request because he didn't show up with any boxes except (4) used boxes from a previous move then he kept asking if certain items was going to be left behind or if he was supposed to move it? Items that I thought would be wrapped before moving to the truck were NOT wrapped. He informed me that it's quicker to move it onto the truck 1st then wrap it once it's on the truck. ‍That makes no sense to me because you can easily bump a wall or something dirty on the truck (see picture). As they continued to move items, I noticed another moving company that showed up with (2) guys. They showed up at least 10 - 15 minutes after these two guys and left almost an hour before we did. Smh. I never saw anyone sitting around, but they were slower than what I experienced with another moving company. They started around 1:30 PM and finished loading the truck around 5:00 PM. My new apartment is located on the 3rd floor, but there is an elevator that no one uses if someone is moving. These guys were still slow. They finished everything around 7:30 PM. Once they finished, they called their manager Alex (female not a male) unless that's a general name that everyone in the office uses. She asked me how everything went and I explained that the guys were very nice, but really slow. I also mentioned that she told me that I didn't have to remove any items from the (2) dressers, but once the guys arrived, they asked us to remove it because it makes it heavy and difficult to remove. She apologized for that, but informed me that most movers strap it up and move it. It was the first time she has ever heard this. She deducted the $50 travel fee from my total; I gave the guys a $20 tip each because they did work and finish the job - end total $665.00. I emailed her about my stain on my sectional and she sent someone to clean it 4 days later. I will NEVER use this company again and I do NOT recommend using them. Also, I was smart enough to purchase and wrap both mattresses prior to the movers arriving, but my mattress bag was half way off of my mattress once they took it off the truck and dragged it inside of the new place. There was a dirt mark on it too, that I didn't mention. Just disgusting esp. in the midst of this COVID - 19 pandemic. read more

The best moving experience I've had by far was with these guys! Everyone that I spoke with was so nice and respectful. The dispatcher named Alex was very helpful and guided me through the process. She was always available to answer any of my questions. The movers worked hard and made sure all my stuff was carefully wrapped and secured for protection (photos attached below). A manger also stopped by without me asking, to check on how things are going which is more than I could expect of most companies. Overall 485Movers left and great impression and I will be happy to do business with them again when moving into my permanent home in a few months. I don't know if they have multiple dispatchers but I recommend asking for Alex, she's so accommodating. read more

I am so glad I found these guys! From the very beginning it was nothing but a great experience. My father had to move out of his old house quickly because of some unforeseen circumstances and I had to find movers the same day of moving day. I lost all hope because everyone was booked up, but then I got to talking to a really sweet dispatcher named Alex. At first there weren't any movers available but she really seemed to have gone out of her way to accommodate us and was able to find us two guys for help. They got there in a matter of an hour and got right to it. They worked very carefully to not damage anything but also with a sense of urgency which anyone who's paying hourly can appreciate. 485 went way beyond the call of duty to deliver a grand piano shipped to me from California. They were extraordinarily professional, communicative, prompt and as strong as any human I have ever seen. They problem solved an error the shipper made without complaint. I would recommend them wholeheartedly and hope I have another opportunity to work with them again. read more

I scheduled 2 men to move a 1 BR apartment for 2 hours with a 10 minute commute. First of all, they were 15 minutes late then it took them 2 hours just to load my items into the truck. They took their time and were not efficient at all, taking 1 box at a time. They did move a little faster after I called the office, but they gave the excuse that the 1 set of stairs they went up were steep (they are normal stairs) and that my boxes were heavy. Upon arrival to my brand new construction townhouse, they used a dolly, but was not very careful with it on my new hardwood floors causing some minor damage. They also used my restroom, which is fine, but they left the toilet seat lid up. I would never use again, unprofessional, unmotivated and careless. read more

I was told they had an early move and we would be the second move. Probably around 2pm. That was fine. Around 1:30 I was contacted by Alex and she told me they were running behind but guaranteed me they would be there and get us moved. I ask was she sure because I would start calling to get another company. " yes we will get you moved". 30 minutes later she called and ask would it be possible to move us the next morning. I had already explained that wasn't an option. The new owner were moving in the next morning. She said no problem. Several more conversations with her and she kept reassuring me it would happen. They finally showed up at 8:30 PM. They were Europeans. He was on the phone with someone arguing. At that point they stopped loading and unloaded what they had loaded, got in there truck and left. She said she was sorry and there was nothing she could do. I had to find a mover at 9pm on a Friday night. Needless to say what you get at that point I was desperate. I finished moving at 5am the next morning. The manager also named Alex was so rude and did not care one bit about what happened. I have never been treated so disrespectful. He talked over me and just kept making excuses. It was the worst situation I have ever been in with no sympathy or give a crap from 485 MOVERS.
