Not only did the they arrive ahead of schedule, but they immediately started packing everything into the truck! We were extremely impressed with how easily they handled every piece of furniture, several heavy boxes, and various heavy items. Our new place had narrow stairs and sharp turns, but they made it look like I was watching a well-rehearsed dance. I was impressed by the skill and spped with which they packed and transported everything. Simply put - just stay away from this company. There is no way these reviews are real. My issues are far too long to fit into this box. Just do yourself a favor and stay far away from this company. Sure, the sales person is so nice. He will quote whatever sounds good to get your deposit- of course it is non-refundable. They know on moving day this quote can drastically change and there is pretty much nothing you can do about it. They lie, manipulate, speak to you in the most unprofessional manner, arrive without the necessary tools to do the job they are being overpaid to do, and then send you through a maze to send pictures of the damage done. When you finally get a settlement offer you realize it wasn't even worth the time it took to fill out the documents. I am more disgusted at the way they treated us than even the damage to my furniture, as well as to my brand new build home. Don't trust reviews. Ask someone you know for a referral. If you're looking for a company that damages almost all of your boxes, breaks your furniture, and under quotes by 10 grand than look no further. I called for an estimate and spoke with Will. We walked through every single room and discussed every piece of furniture and that we would have probably around 75 boxes to which he said "yeah that sounds about right for a 3 bedroom house" . I was told it would be about 700 something cubic feet and about 10k for the move. I figured that wasn't too bad since it was only 3k more than what it would have been if I had moved myself. So I figured I'd save me some stress...I put down the 3,000 something deposit and gave them my move date, told them it may change pending how selling the house goes. Five days before the move the date changed. I let the moving company know as soon as I did. They said they charge a 500 inconvenience fee for a date change less than a week notice. Which I get that. It was eventually waived due pricing issue on moving day but we will discuss that in a moment. With the estimate of 10k I figured since it was just that, an estimate, that it would probably be 2-3k more. Moving day arrives and the mover comes and after looking at the area says it'll be 1500 cubic sq ft not 700 (so more than double). Good thing he came with a 1600 cubic sq ft truck. So the new total was 21k...after being quoted originally 10k. They did waive the 500 inconvenience fee due to the 11,000 up in price. They did want more money than originally planned at pick up since the price went up but I planned for about 5800 at pick up not 12,000. They did give me the option to do 5800 and then the rest of the amount when the house sold 6 days later. Which for payment, they allow you to use a credit card for the deposit but just know for pick up and drop off you have to do cash, check, money order, cash app, Zelle, or a wire. Again, how can you quote for a living and under quote THAT badly. During the moving, one of the movers also tried to use one of my husband's tools to break down a piece of furniture without even asking. You would think for that much money out of pocket they would use their own tools. To top it off they used our bathroom, which I was fine with. What I wasn't fine with was the urine that was left all over the toilet...A week after they picked up our stuff I got an email saying the new address isn't semi truck accessible. And now there is a shuttle service fee of 1500 or we could meet them in a large parking lot and get our things ourselves. Which they knew the address from the beginning, why was this not mentioned at booking. They did waive 500 off the shuttle fee for inconvenience. A shuttle fee to move things from a semi truck to a uhaul when our stuff was originally picked up in Alaska in a uhaul is ridiculous. I'm writing this review to help others avoid the incredibly frustrating and expensive experience I had with this moving company. Do not use any mover that charges by cubic feet. It's an unreliable and easily manipulated pricing model. Unlike weight-based pricing (which is objective and verifiable), cubic footage is subjective and impossible to measure accurately once a truck is packed. This company used that to their advantage -- at my expense. My initial quote was $8,000. Once the truck was fully loaded, the price suddenly jumped to over $15,000 -- nearly double. Despite being on-site during the entire process, I had to question them aggressively during unloading to discover that they were charging me for truck space that wasn't even used. The company ultimately admitted to overcharging me for unused space and agreed to refund the difference. Then, they reversed course and refused to issue the refund, ignoring all further communication. On top of this, I was also explicitly told by Will Reid via email prior to signing an agreement that I would not be charged for packing materials. Yet I was billed nearly $1,000 for them on the final invoice -- a clear contradiction of what was promised. Throughout this ordeal, Rita (the only person who works in the front apparently) stopped responding entirely -- ignoring all my emails and texts, and sending every phone call straight to voicemail. It became clear that they were avoiding any accountability. I had no choice but to file a claim through their internal process, which led nowhere. Because the contract prohibits customers from suing them directly, I escalated to arbitration -- where I was awarded over $2,000 in overcharges. That judgment was issued more than 45 days ago, and the company continues to ignore all efforts to collect the amount I'm owed. I am now working with legal counsel and preparing to file a court case in Charlotte to enforce the award. This move turned into a financial and emotional nightmare. I urge anyone considering this company -- or any mover that charges by volume -- to think twice. Only choose a company that charges by weight, where pricing is objective and cannot be manipulated. What should have been a straightforward relocation turned into a situation that felt deceptive and predatory. I am sickened reading all of the reviews with people who had similar experiences to my own. If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with A Plus Moving Group was an absolute nightmare from start to finish -- unprofessional, dishonest, and damaging in every possible way. From the beginning, the sales rep Will Reid promised the world -- guaranteed pickup on August 1st, charges based on box count, careful wrapping and handling, and prompt delivery. NONE of this happened. They changed my pickup date without my consent, arrived hours late with no communication, and completely misrepresented the pricing. The movers crammed my belongings into boxes without labeling or protection, and many items arrived broken, wet, or destroyed. My wife's PS5 was damaged, my file storage unit was bent and my hard drives destroyed (losing over 8 years of photos/videos), my bookshelf was soaked with mold, and my robot vacuum was cracked and no longer works. Kitchenware arrived shattered, and I even injured myself unpacking. It gets worse -- 65 boxes were packed, but only 59 were delivered, along with a missing bookshelf. Their own paperwork confirms the count, yet they still charged me extra for "overages." I have photographic proof of everything. This company failed to deliver all my items, failed to protect my belongings, and failed to perform the service I paid for. Their handling of my move was careless, unacceptable, and nothing like what was promised. Also, the glowing reviews on their website appear to be fake -- some of the exact reviews they showcase cannot be found on independent review sites. This is highly misleading to potential customers. DO NOT HIRE APLUS MOVING! They lied, overcharged me by $5,000, showed up hours late with no movers, and left me in tears. The worst experience I've ever had with any company. I trusted APlus Moving after being told by Matt Sellers that "those bad reviewers are gone." They weren't -- and now I know exactly why those reviews were written. This company is a total scam. APlus Moving = Lies, greed, and zero accountability. Save yourself the heartbreak and find another mover. I don't usually post reviews, but this one I had to write. If you care about your home, your belongings, and your peace of mind -- stay far away from APlus Moving. When I first spoke with Matt Sellers, he sounded caring and professional. I told him upfront that I'd had three shoulder surgeries and couldn't lift much at all. He assured me that I wouldn't have to do a thing and that he'd personally make sure everything was handled. That turned out to be a complete lie -- and he absolutely took advantage of my situation. My move was scheduled between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Instead, Rita Moreno called saying the truck would be late, arriving at 2. It didn't show up until 4 p.m., and when it finally did -- no movers showed up. I was completely stranded. I had to be out of my home by midnight and still had an 8.5-hour drive ahead of me. Because I physically couldn't lift much at all, my elderly neighbors in their 70s and 80s had to step in and help load the truck so I could meet my deadline. That's how little this company cared -- they left the job to senior citizens while they knew full well about my medical condition. Then came the shock: they raised the price by nearly $5,000 on moving day. I was devastated. When Matt found out, he completely stopped responding to me. Rita didn't care either. The driver even admitted that APlus intentionally underestimates quotes and raises prices once your belongings are loaded -- every single move. They had promised my truck would drive straight through, but the driver had just flown in from Colorado and hadn't even slept. I told him to stop and rest for safety, but the company didn't care about that either -- only about money. When the truck arrived the next day, the movers dropped my brand-new gas grill off the truck and broke it. Because of a small grease trap that had leaked inside the grill, instead of cleaning it up, they rolled their dolly through the grease -- and to make matters worse, they were even using my own personal dolly -- then tracked grease all through my new home. I had to stop them and clean the truck myself, but grease was already everywhere. When I contacted Matt again, he acted "surprised," told me to email Rita, and has still never provided the correct email address. This company is an absolute disgrace. They lied to my face, took advantage of my medical limitations, used my own equipment, ignored my calls, and treated me like I didn't matter once they had my money. If Matt tells you he'll be there "every step of the way," don't believe it -- he won't. APlus Moving is the definition of a scam. They broke my belongings, took my money, and left me in tears. The "clear" instructions regarding the deposit is false, as nowhere does it SAY three calendar days and not business days. This feels like it's purposely vague for such purposes of scamming customers. As for standing by their statement that their employees are professional- feels pretty unprofessional to verbally state over the phone (on the last day that I was able to cancel according to their vague three day rule) that I had 10 days prior to the move date to cancel. Even if the employee truly did not know that I had signed the Bill of Lading during this conversation, I would also argue that it is highly unprofessional for the employee to speak without having my file up at all. Colonial and Allied did in-person walk-throughs; A-Plus just promised to beat their price. Will Reid quoted me $12,762 vs. Allied's $19,498, assuring me the estimate would hold. It didn't. On moving day, the manager showed up late, claimed I had nearly three times more items, and refused to move anything unless I signed a new contract for almost $20,000. The driver also brought his young child without permission and let him swim unsupervised in my pool--my own child had to pull him out when he went underwater. A-Plus denied knowing, though the driver admitted he told them. They also broke a storage promise ($400/month with one free month) and charged $1,200. My delivery, originally set for 7/17/24, was rescheduled four times and finally arrived 7/26, costing me $900 more. Rita will suggest I file a claim with CSI. I did, seeking reimbursement for damages and overcharges totaling $7,000+. Their response? $68. As for Will Reid, once you pay the deposit, you'll never hear from him again. A Plus Moving Group / Redo Express Logistics (aka USHIP VAN LINES INC.) Dispute QUOTED $10.5K, PAID ~$21K! THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM! PLAN ON LOSING YOUR ITEMS AND SPENDING MORE THAN DOUBLE THE QUOTED AMOUNT BEFORE ALL IS SAID AND DONE!!!! My unfortunate dealing with these companies began in early FEB of this year. In late JAN, I was selected for a position in Hawaii that required relocation to the area with the caveat that I would need to be on the island within a few weeks. After talking with my wife, we decided to take the position in Hawaii (with a 2/24/2025 start date) and started looking for moving companies to facilitate the move. One thing worth mentioning before I transcribe my hellish moving experience is that I have a chronic neurological condition that limits prolonged movements of my legs/feet and was the primary reason we chose to have a moving company deal with the heavy lifting of our household items. Another thing worth mentioning is that this was my first major move since my PCS to South Korea in 2001 during my time in the U.S. Army and the GOVT handled my expenses for that move, so I really had no experience with hiring a moving company prior to this. Matthew Sellars (A Plus Moving Group) was the first individual I spoke with after completing my contact information to receive a quote for the move. He asked me for a detailed, comprehensive list of every large item, appliance, and number of boxes that we would need to move overseas and the timeframe in which we would need them delivered. He and I went through this list at least three times (I even projected 10 more boxes than what was expected to be sent to be on the safe side) before I was given roughly a $10.5K quote for the move. I was told that they would be able to deliver in 3 weeks. Competitor quotes for the same items/timeframe came in between $12-14K, so we made the unfortunate decision to go with A Plus Moving. Evidently, Matt is the sales representative that collects the first portion of the fee that is paid. Matt explained to me that payment for the move would need to be broken out in 3 payments. The first payment for this move was $3,483.75 on 2/14/2025 and this amount is what Matt received. The second and supposedly final payment would be split out with 70% paid when the movers picked up our items and 30% would be paid when the items were delivered. I agreed to these terms and our items were scheduled to be picked up on 2/23/2025. On the day our items were to be picked up, Rita Moreno called to inform me that our items would now be picked up on 2/24/2025 morning. The following morning, the movers had still not shown up and I received a second call from Rita explaining that the movers would not be there until that evening. I told her that this was my first day of work and this was unacceptable. She said that she would talk to "top management" about a discount for the late pickup (Matt Sellars would also reference "needing to talk to top management" later when I voiced my complaints). The movers finally showed around 6:00 p.m. that evening and I was told immediately that the cost for the move would be higher due to more "cubic feet" needed to make the move. I agreed remembering that Matt said that the cost could go up a couple of hundred depending on what was being moved. After half our things were packed, one of the movers said that he would need payment via the email link that was sent to me to continue. When I received the invoice via the email link, I thought that this was some kind of joke or misunderstanding. The $10.5K quote that Matt provided turned into $19,762.53! I immediately called Rita and told her that this was not what I agreed to and her reply was that I could have the movers take only a portion of the household items that fall within the amount we could afford. I told her that this was not an option as I had a timeline to get on the island for my work. She also said she could offer a discount for the movers being late (which was only a couple hundred dollars) and she would talk to "top management" to review my case once the movers loaded the crate on the west coast before being sent to the island. Under time constraints and feeling like my back was against the wall, I agreed to the terms with the understanding that something would be done in my case and made a second payment of $10K on 2/24/2025, only this payment was not made to A Plus Movers but a company under the name of Rado Express Logistics (aka Uship Van Lines Inc.). Only later did I realize that this was a bait-and-switch scam, and this is exactly the outcome they bet on when packing a large portion of your household goods first and then hitting you with the astronomically higher cost. You will have a sales representative give you a favorable quote only to have the price switch on you when you are at your most vulnerable. If I could give zero stars, I would. Started off getting a quote from John, who rushed me on the phone throughout the process of making the booking. He was incredibly rude and condescending when I asked a follow up question about whether or not I have to provide and pack my own boxes. I asked about if exceptions could be made for payment as they only allow credit card payments for the deposit. I was informed that money order or Zelle/cashapp were the only accepted forms of payment. Sketchy.. Their documentation also does not line up. They took 35% deposit, while their Bill of Lading says they take 25% of the total for the deposit. On Sept 18th, I signed the Bill of Lading, which states that I have three days to cancel. On September 19th, a Friday, I called David Sharp, to again discuss payment options. He informed me that I could cancel within 10 days of my move and receive my deposit in full refund. I found another company who allowed all payments to be on credit card, so I called over the weekend to cancel my services, however their customer service does not work over the weekend. I figured then that, reasonably, those three days would then be business days, as no one was available to take my call. However, when I called on Monday (which is 3 full days after I signed the contract), they informed me that I was past my three day window and refused to return my refund. They also flipped the script and informed me that now I could use a credit card for all of the payments. As if I would possibly trust them with my business again. What a joke. Everyone I spoke to, John, David and Rita were all incredibly condescending and unprofessional, speaking over me and very obviously not caring about their customers. I was quoted $2,254 for a move and when the drivers arrived they made a new quote of $4,000. The company said I had more items than what I reported, and I did have some small boxes/items. Included in the quote was also my washer/dryer, which didn't even need to be moved, as I sold them. They also told me that my items were to be in storage until the actual move date, which was supposed to be January 6, 2024. The administrative assistant (Rita) got very upset with me, telling me that I could not cancel the move and that they would not refund my deposit. One of the employees kept calling me and trying to negotiate a smaller price. They also told me to get rid of the excess items that I had or to let them load the truck and then I could see what was extra. (Surely, this would have been a tragic mistake on my part!) They informed me that their drivers had come out from North Carolina to complete my move. The drivers smelled like smoke and were not dressed to perform moving of any type. They also informed me that my items were to be stored in North Carolina. That is why I asked them why they were picking my items up on January 2, 2024. I told Rita that I wanted a refund of my deposit and was told no. I told her that I would be disputing the amount on my credit card. I feel that these movers used a bait-and-switch tactic, and were dishonest and deceptive right from the beginning. They never had any intention of moving me for the amount they quoted. It appears that this company is not a moving company, but a consultant/estimator. It was even brought to my attention that the movers had their logo on the truck when what they had was a magnetic sign/logo that could be easily removed. I am now being inundated with an email bill from them every day for $1,000, stating that this is a cancellation fee. After reporting them to the BBB, they stated that I had over 150 items (absurd). They are saying this to cover their a**. I was moving out of a 700 sq. foot apartment and in no way did I have what they are saying. They are liars! This is their response, typos and all: Movers showed up on the scheduled date and time to provide moving services. Unfortunally customer provide innacurate inventory to her sales maanger. Insted of having 32 items it was over 150 items. By the fedural regulation if any descrpency beteween binding estimate and actual list of requested services we supposed to provide "Revise Written Estimate". What we did... Cusromer refuse to proceed and like the result cancel the move. Unfortuanny increasing list of items almost 5 times we cant honor the price. Moving 32 and alsmost 150 items it's huge diffferent. I booked my move with A Plus Moving months in advance with Will. I signed the contract and paid my deposit. The initial conversation we had concerned moving directly from my current home to my new home. However, after my initial contract fell through, I had to change the move to storage & then move to the new home at a later date. Will was aware of this change & advised it will be an extra $500 for the indirect move. He also advised they had 1 month of storage for free, which worked for me because I would only need it in storage 1 week. The day before I was scheduled to move, I received an email from Will stating my move had been canceled with no explanation. When I tried to call him, he had blocked my number. Then I called the main office and the receptionist advised the move was canceled because I was quoted the incorrect price. At no time had anyone contacted me to advise of this or have a conversation to explain why my move was abruptly canceled the day before. This was unprofessional to say the least but also caused me undue stress during a very stressful time already. I also requested to speak to management and have been unable to do so. I would not recommend them for moving services. And I'm waiting to receive my deposit back. read more
