Setup my account so that my code could only be used during office hours. I set it up with a human in person that I have my physical ID and credit card to. I was leaving the country for a few months and had to get another storage unit somewhere else. Customer support is useless. This place has one job and failed miserably. read more

I was left a voicemail by James from Public Storage at 400 W Cedar Avenue, telling me that they found my unit without a lock on it. I have tried calling them back many times, and leaving two messages, and no one has responded. I am in Florida, so I don't have access to my unit, but I got my brother to go out there. He found someone at the desk, who clearly was ignoring my calls, and had him open up my unit (which they had placed their own lock on). After finding out that much of everything was stolen (and plenty of things that I won't even know are gone unless I go there), whoever was the person on staff said that it happens all the time, and every unit adjacent to mine was also broken into. I found many other documented incidents of this exact same scenario, at this exact same business. They say that have cameras at the front, require code access to get through the gate, front door, AND elevator, but clearly are taking no steps whatsoever to ensure the safety of their customers' belongings. The gross negligence of this company is apparent. read more

Made a reservation at the wrong location tried transferring to a new location. Turns out you do not get a credit for the rent/ it does not transfer to the new location. What an absolute scam! Make sure you double check the location and do not trust the distance on their website. I will not be going back to public storage. I would rather pay triple anywhere else. read more

We are finally tired of them raising our rates for a unit that we can get somewhere else for one-half the price. You can't talk to anybody about it. So we are going to move. The location is great and the security is good. But the numbers for our club are out of control. read more

Extremely helpful customer service and peace of mind! Isabel really helped us work out the perfect space!

First and foremost - the property manager is great...past that...rough experience. I rented here for 3 years and watched my 10x10 rent go from $105 to $226. Expect a 6 month increase and then at LEAST an annual increase after that. My final increase broke the camel's back. Jumped me from $145 to $167 in September '21 and then $167 to $226 in March '22. Needless to say, I'm vacating. Found a local 9x10 for $101 less per month just 2 miles away. Wild. The building used to have a serious homeless problem which is now mostly remedied. Be wary that 9pm close means 9pm and not 9:01pm, which can lead to nasty emails/calls. Additionally, the state of the rolling carts can be pretty rough and they're not in great condition. Your mileage may vary, just don't count on that rent staying even close to where it starts. Get in and out quick and you'll be fine, long term isn't a good idea. read more

NOT SECURE AT ALL!!!! Rented a unit here about 8 weeks ago while I was moving. They called to tell me my 3rd floor unit was unlocked, which was strange. I go there, and it's clear my lock had been cut and my unit had been broken into. Open it up (with an employee right there) and everything had been trashed in there. Management was not helpful at all. They wouldn't even review the video because they said 'we can't identify anyone anyways'. Strange...you need a specific code to get in and get up the elevator. It seems that they could do a lot more to help stop this, but they don't. I'm not saying it was an inside job, but they couldn't be bothered to do anything. Take your business elsewhere!!! Follow up: Made a police report last week. The cops were very familiar with this place and take tons of burglary reports from there. I was advised to get my stuff out of there quickly, either it's an inside job or management doesn't care about tracking down the culprits. I guess management doesn't cooperate at all with the police on these matters. Follow up Part 2: So, I'm in the process of getting my stuff out of this place, I go over there at about 7:30am on a Sunday morning. There is someone LIVING in unit 684 on the 3rd floor! I didn't know this place doubled as a hotel, but I guess it does. Look out, Westin, there's a new kid on the block. But seriously, get your stuff out of here. Or, better yet, never put it there in the first place! read more

NOT SAFE! Buyer beware when renting at this location. I understand that they cannot legally assure your property will be safe, but you should assume that this property WILL LIKELY BE BROKEN INTO and your valuables stolen. I was told that there have been repeated thefts here, and the only place where there are security cameras are the entrance. NOTHING on any of the unit floors. A few weeks ago, I tried to get into my unit, but the key didn't work, (on the lock that Public Storage had provided and charged me for). When I came back with the other key this past week, we discovered not only did it not work, but the lock was not our original lock. Thieves will walk into the building, peer over the top of your unit to see what's inside, then cut off the lock, steal your property, and replace the lock with one they brought. To add insult to injury, we had to go and rent a metal saw to cut off the lock and find out our property was gone. NOW, we get to go through the process of finding pics to prove we had golf clubs inside, find receipts for those golf clubs, file a police report, then file an insurance claim and wait up to three months to get reimbursed. When we called Public Storage to ask why customers have not been alerted to all of the recent break-ins (we were told that one woman was actually surprised by the thief IN her unit when she opened it) the customer service rep essentially said it was above her pay grade to help us out. STORE YOUR PROPERTY ELSEWHERE. read more

If you want your locks cut off your unit and all of your stuff stolen, then this is the perfect place for you. I went to my storage unit last week to grab my stuff out so I could move and a different lock was on my door. I asked the front desk about it and since they didn't have bolt cutters, I would need to find my own so I could cut off the mystery lock on my unit. Finally got the lock off and it looked like a tornado had hit my unit and two very nice bikes, a paddle board, and multiple camping items were all gone. The storage unit hasn't been able to gather any security film despite someone needing to enter a code multiple times to even get to my area. Turns out this has also happened to at least four other units on my floor and management has been extremely unhelpful, including to the multiple police officers who have tried to get the footage. I do not recommend this place at all. read more

I needed a storage about 5*5 and they said for new customers 50% off they never gave me a 50 % off I paid full price.so I'm not happy about that I reserved originaly a 5x5 as I was putting my debit info they notified and said they had sold my unit I paid full price 140 when it was originally 80 same location but because I needed it I paid.not very I'm upset read more

The absolute WORST. I started storing here years ago before they were bought by Public Storage. It used to be immaculate, people always onsite and very friendly. Once it was bought out it went downhill. In the last 8 months, the light along my aisle hasn't worked, when I could actually talk to a person (2 times out of 10 that I tried) they told me that there were 17 work orders filed to request a repair, and that there was nothing else they could do. The grounds are filthy. Garbage is constantly overflowing, homeless camps all around the property, and dirty hallways, elevators, and exterior. I left 5 messages for the property manager (regarding the lights) and she never returned my call. To add insult to injury, when I went to move out, I couldn't get ahold of anyone to schedule the move-out, and they didn't return the $213 pro-rated rent that I was owed. They give you a great deal to move in and then incrementally raise your rent to astounding levels. My rent was $341/month for a 10x10 unit. I talked to a new move in and he said they just signed up and were only being charged $65/month currently. It's shameful that they would have that much disparity within units, especially to clients that had given them business for decades. BUYER BEWARE, THIS PLACE DOES NOT FEEL SAFE! !!! read more

This is my first time using a storage shed ever and I will say it's been pretty easy and straightforward with Public Storage! The app makes it so easy to open the gate and access your unit. The only thing I will say is that I thought all storage units were 24/7 and that I would have access to my unit 24/7, which would've been nice when I was moving. I went at about 9 pm one night and they were closed. Which is actually okay, I'm kinda glad they close at night so the chance of theft is reduced. read more

I've received probably some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced at this place. I'm not sure the manager has ever smiled in her life. We were originally in a pretty large unit and wanted to switch to a smaller one. The unit was in my name but my husband and his friend were going to move the stuff while I was at work. There wasn't enough time to move in the evenings because they close at 5 and my husband works weekends. The manager insisted that I must be there, she offered no solutions, no explanations. I couldn't add my husband to the account, couldn't authorize him to move it and finish the paperwork later. We offered suggestion after suggestion and all she would say (in a monotone voice) "you have to be here." We found another place to store our stuff because I'm not going to give this company one more dime. My suggestion: throw your stuff away before storing it here. read more

Monique was wonderful she helped me navigate everything . I was extremely tired she helped me immensely the place is clean I give it 10 stars. Staff is great place is clean. I would recommend it absolutely read more

I have had my goods in this unit for a little over a year now. The staff seemed a little bit disorganised when I moved in, but it was all good, and at least the employee on duty at that time, while new and therefore not having a lot of answers or experience with the process, was at least pleasant and as helpful as she could be. It's clean, but nothing remarkable as far as storage places go. The main reason for the two star rating is that they are jacking the prices up like there is no tomorrow. I went from $113 a month (including insurance) to $141 per month to $154 a month in the space of a little over a year. If this keeps up, it might be just as well to rent an apartment simply to keep my stuff in. Fortunately, I should be able to get my stuff out of storage in the next couple of months. read more

This location is awesome. It's almost always empty which means there's plenty of flatbeds available. The associates in the office are always incredibly helpful. The building is always clean and maintained. It's a little bit of a pain in the butt to get to, but it's super cheap compared to storage facilities in the downtown area. Been storing stuff here for over three years and love the building and location. read more

We rented 18 months ago and all was well until I received a phone call that my unit had been broken in. When I filed a police report the detective told me that he was working 36 break-ins over a two month period at that location! When I called Public Storage HQ they denied any responsibility. I set up www.PublicStorageRipsOffConsumers.com so that consumers would know how bad this company really is. read more

5 star review for Grace and my experience with this public storage location. During a recent move to Denver I had to find a place to put my household goods until I closed on my new house. Grace not only took care of every detail for me, she exceeded every expectation I had in terms of customer service, attitude and willingness to help this overly stressed gal during my move. She even called my movers directly to introduce herself. Because storage facilities cannot rent over the phone I sent a friend over to go thru the transaction for me and sign the contracts. He had nothing but positive things to say about his experience with Grace, too. She's a GEM! read more

I have been a Public Storage customer for some time. The W. Center Ave facility is my favorite. It is clean and well managed. Good job Grace -- thanks a lot. read more

Be forewarned. This facility has been burgled multiple times over the past 18 months. They have known it is a problem and yet do nothing to attempt to fix it. Though they have security cameras, they are only in the halls, not over the units. Though they have a gate and a code, everyone has the same code so anyone can rent a storage unit for $1 (first month) and have instant access to that huge building and everyone's possessions. I made the unfortunate decision to rent at Public Storage in the summer of 2015 before I went on a long trip abroad. I went to Public Storage with my sister the afternoon of November 24, 2015 after I returned. As I started searching for boxes of clothes, I noticed a box sitting on top of my mattress that appeared to be open. I pulled it down and saw that it has been gone through and many of its contents taken out. I pointed this out to my sister and she began to check around the unit for other signs of a break in. She noticed the top of the unit was bent, did not look secure, and had recently been repaired. We went to the office to report the break in to staff. I spoke the woman at the front desk and said that I believed my unit had been broken into. She walked to the back of the office and yelled to a fellow employee, "We have another one." The manager then came out and said that the facility has been broken into the week before. I was irate and demanded to know why I had not been notified of the break in. She said that they were making their way through a list of units and I just hadn't been reached yet. I expressed that I should have been notified immediately and that everyone in the building should have been notified so that they could check on their stuff. They said they didn't want to cause a "panic" and that they followed the appropriate procedures and suggested they had not known of my break in. I pointed out that they unit had been repaired so they had to have known, and they made more excuses about the list. At this time, they said that I was one of about 30 units. I filed a police report that day, and it has been a nightmare ever since. With the crappy insurance they sell, I got $430 back from my +$2,000 loss, and it took months of follow up to get them to file the claim and pay me that measly portion back. The Public Storage staff I encountered throughout were rude, unapologetic and unhelpful. When I requested the police report, I discovered that the break in had first been reported on October 27, 2015 not the week the staff had reported to me, and that some units had been hit more than once. They got electronics, firearms, diamonds, you name it from dozens of units. No one has been identified as a suspect. I just checked crime records today and they were still getting burgled into February 2016! Check out the Denver Police Department's crime map for 400 Center Ave before you even consider renting a unit there. https://www.denvergov.org/content/denvergov/en/police-department/crime-information/crime-map.html And if your stuff is currently being stored there, I suggest removing it promptly because it is NOT secure. read more

Easy move-in. No problems. The insurance you have to purchase is a little lame, but not terrible.

I agree with the posters who say that Grace is awesome! She showed me a unit when I stopped by, she put me on a waiting list and said she would call me when the right size unit opened up, and she followed through and called me. I ended up not needing the unit after all, but I just wanted to say that, even though it appears to be a large company, here is one individual who goes above and beyond for customers. read more
