Wouldn't recommend this facility to my mortal enemy. I reserved a 10'x10' storage unit online--clearly advertised as a "standard" 800 cubic foot unit (10'x10'x8'). What I got instead? A Frankenstein-ed space barely totaling ~400 cubic feet. Front section: 7' tall × 3' deep × 9.75' wide = ~205 cu ft Back section: 4' tall × 5' deep × 9.75' wide = ~195 cu ft Total: ~400 cu ft--literally half of what I paid for. Once you've moved your stuff in and realized you've been misled, you're stuck. They'll gladly "help" by upselling you another unit at full price--no promotional offers honored--because now you're an existing customer. Classic bait-and-switch. They will tell you that you have already moved in to the unit you chose, dreaming of fitting everything inside and trying your best to use every Tetris skill developed over years of practice, but it won't fit no matter what and your movers will have to go to their other job, leaving you stuck in this nightmare. Oh, and if you're moving furniture, good luck. The elevator doesn't even fit a standard sectional couch. Hope your movers don't charge extra for hauling things up stairs. When I reached out to Public Storage Corporate, their solution was a unit at a different location if I was willing to pay the rate difference. Meaning, I now have to hire movers again because their website misrepresents the product, and this location has no appropriately sized units left. Also, please remember that all sizes are approximate and vary by facility. The square footage is what they go by, not height. That's all they are allowed to say. But they can't even get the square footage to be appropriately advertised! Apparently, the only way to avoid this mess is to schedule an in-person tour with an overworked manager juggling multiple facilities--because trusting Public Storage is a mistake. read more

The doors are locked from the outside so you can't access your unit if the elevator is down. It seems that I have to pray that I will be able to access the building when I drive here. read more

Elevator is constantly broken leaving no other access to floors other than ground level. There are stairs, but the doors are all locked. There is no staff on site regardless of what the "office hours" might state. This is evident by the substantial pile of mail sitting on the floor behind the office door. Calling corporate is a dead end as all they will do is call the front desk where nobody exists. The old rickety elevator is out of order. I needed something from our third floor storage unit because I am going out of town tomorrow and I cannot access the storage unit because the elevator is broken. While they have stairs you can access, you cannot access the storage units from them as they have locked doors on every level. So I can go up and down the stairs, I cannot get to my unit. There should be a way for me to access my unit. They should have unlocked those doors knowing the elevator was broken or had the front office person stay until official closing. read more

Quite literally the worst storage space you can rent. Building is awful, the elevator never works and there isn't stairs. The guy at the front desk was hardly of any help. He just disappeared and was nowhere to be found leaving us stranded and not able to get to the 3rd floor. Even if you pay 100$ more for a similar unit else where it's 100% worth it. Half of the ceiling in our 10x10 space comes down so you can't stack boxes - much smaller space than listed/ expected. We are leaving due to the small space and elevators and when giving our notice I was told our rent would be increasing by 70$ next month. When I came to the space with my movers, I am shocked to find out there are big stairs in the space! No one told me the space has big stairs in it. Here are a few cool things about this location! 1. Elevator from the year 1925 with metal gates that need to be closed and opened while you're loading in and out! Awesome! 2. Hallways with sharp 90 degree turns to make moving large furniture a real treat! Sick! 3. Unit with elevator access means you also have to go up 8 stairs into a 90 degree turn at the top! Stay away from this location!!! They provide misleading information. They charged me $300 for a time period I never agreed to. I never moved into the space and they almost immediately re-rented the storage space - taking my money and the money of the next guy! My credit card company agreed with me when I filed a dispute and Public Storage turned around and sent me to collections for $308! Unbelievable. So, now I have to file a small claims case in order for them to not impact my credit. read more

I recently had a storage unit at this location and needless to say the threats from the employees began right away the day I was moving my stuff in they were trying to say that I was loitering on the site even though I was just moving my stuff into my unit it was absolutely absurd. From there It just got worse and worse not even having my spot there for a month, my spot got robbed and I literally lost everything valuable to me. I had spent a pretty significant amount of money on some merchandise that was stolen from my unit and this place didn't even seem to care. they didn't seem to care to compensate me or give me an extra month free, nothing!! they just literally treated me like crap and sent me on my way. The whole point of me getting the storage unit was so that I could protect my belongings and in doing so I actually lost everything and this place was just horrible just with the attitude of the employees making me feel like a criminal for being on campus just putting my stuff into my unit it was insane and I know that Covid is going on right now but I wasn't doing anything wrong. At one point the lady had threatened me and said that she would was not going to allow me to "live in my unit"!!! Like what the Fock!!!! I have a home and I was there for maybe two hours!!! this place is absolutely horrible do not put your stuff in the storage unit. I lost everything I owned that was of value to me because of this place in less than a matter of a month. Horrible. I can't even believe it. Post that process was completed we definitely needed a smaller storage Dorian was amazing she did help us out with finding the right size and price for our needs and handled the transfer from one space to another seamlessly. Believe the negative reviews. It's not worth it to store with Public Storage. My code to get into didn't work and there was no one at the front desk. My movers had to use the stairs because the elevator isn't working. The storage unit itself was promised to be 10x10, instead half of it is blocked off and we're trying to fit things in there since there's no one around to help. Plenty of customer support to get you to book, none to help on your actual move day. I can only hope they'll be open when I need to get my things later. Take your money anywhere else. read more

I arrived at the facility and of course no one is at the front desk. I went from paying $95 for a storage place to $141. Which I find unacceptable. I had set up auto pay and I was shocked when I found out the following month I was being billed almost $50 more. When I called to complain. They told me they had sent me an email and a letter through the mail which is not true. It wasn't until I called 10 times and they finally picked up that they told me they did. A week later I received a letter saying the rent was going to increase. What a joke. I held back on giving them a review. I came today to retrieve something. Not sure if she's the general manager but she was very rude. I called her to ask for help and she made it seem like it was a hassle. I haven't had one pleasant experience at this facility. Public Storage Breaks Every "Reason Why" Promise -- As a paying customer, I value companies who stand behind their promise communications. Another name for these is "reasons why to buy from us." "We Care" and "Convenient Access" had me really excited. After hours of research, I went with PS. But from the moment I crossed the threshold (Saturday July 30, 2016) I've experienced severe problems. Being a customer here feels like being in the Twilight Zone. One has to wonder "What isn't Public Storage thinking?" But before I list the transgressions I decided to do some Public Storage complaint research (something I hadn't done originally). Some findings: #1 "Based on the number of tenants, Public Storage is one of the largest landlords in the world." -PublicStorage.com - About Us - Company Contextually, PS largesse and industry experience makes these property transgressions even worse. #2 In Feb. 2016, Public Storage settled a Florida-based class-action lawsuit: wrongful insurance premiums. I was forced to pay PS-insurance and buy a PS-issued lock a nearby PS facility in 2015. Property 23028 doesn't force the same usage of PS products. I question the validity of my 2015 charges. Today my PS-manufactured lock doesn't work because the lock-tab ring on my unit door doesn't align with the ring on the wall. That PS hardware problem meant I had to take an unplanned trip to the store and buy another lock. I'm going to ask PS to buy my other lock back and I'm going to inquire into the 2015 insurance premiums. #3 Deborah. S. had just posted a review. When I read it my jaw hit the floor. Our experiences are verbatim. I was there on 8/28; broken elevator. When I asked Relief Manager Meyesha B. why a "Broken Elevator" sign wasn't taped to the elevator door, she said, "We can't post anything that's not official PS signage." #CommonCourtesy? Because I'd been told that "customers routinely don't shut both elevator doors [see ancient elevator review from Ronald B.] I trekked up to each floor in the heat, checking to see if the doors were shut. They were. Only then did I "bother the office help about it". I had to hand-carry my stuff up three flights of stairs ... leaving my loaded cart unattended on the ground between trips. Trust Eroded: A few of my experiences and observations: 1 - Sat July 30, 2016 - arrived to sign paperwork, pay and move in that evening. Trust shattered when I was told access hours are not 6AM-9PM as posted online and too many places to list here (including my confirmation email when I booked my reservation). 2 - Sun July 31, 2016 - move in. a. Lights are out. Meyesha B., "Use a flashlight." b. 9:30am: I arrive. 9:40am: Elevator gets stuck between Ground and 1st floors. Meyesha Banks told me she wasn't sure what to do because although she's worked for PS for a few years, this isn't her normal location. She also told me there is no manager for this location; just relief managers. She told me she figured out what to do and an elevator repair order was being requested. I spoke with District Manager Kevin B. by phone. "You know," I say, "all the communications I read to make a buying decision and even the confirmation I received promised I'd have access from 6am until 9PM. Now I find out that's not true. That's false advertising." "It's only false advertising if it's about price," he says. When I asked him to comp my first month's rent, he said no. "What about customer satisfaction?" I ask. "This isn't about your satisfaction," Kevin says. He suggests I go to Starbucks. No way was I going to leave my loaded cart like a sitting duck on some property where already everything's gone south. So I sat in my car for 4 hours. (Watching people approach the elevator and try and make it work... there was no courtesy sign posted) By 1PM I was starving so I walked next door and dropped @ $23.00 on lunch at Café Brasil. (Wish they served margaritas. It's a fairly pricey place and very good. I had a nice lunch and ordered desert and coffee. I'm going to ask PS to re-imburse me.) Fast forward 30 days: Lights are still out; elevator has broken down numerous times (I don't get in it... now I just load my stuff and send it up and take the stairs); elevator door kickstand is broken on ground floor (employee Robin said, "Yeah, I hold it open with one hand while pushing a cart into the elevator with another); access hours lessened until further notice (although my email bills state the longer access hours and why am I paying a rate for more accessibility?). Contracts, OSHA standards and customer personal safety/well being are the #1 priority. Each of these items is easily fixed. It looked fairly sketchy from the outside but what the hell, it's a storage facility & had gates; also I'd gone out of my way for what seemed to be a good deal. Stupid me for trying to save some money. Sorry guys, but you disappointed on so many levels that I actually turned my movers around to the cheaper, better located, size-as-advertised Public Storage on Cotner. Have had excellent customer service at Durango as well. Did you really expect me to unload? * Bait & switch online technique: 'reduced height' = 4 foot high ceiling instead of standard 8'-10'. We're not spelunking here. * Under-sized units: 'approximate' sq footages close to 2 feet short. Mysteriously no tape measures on the property. Right... * No drive-up dock, instead narrow stairs up from unloading area, then a tiny freight elevator opening to narrow one-lane hallways you can't pass carts through. Which means you have to turn around and move your stuff the long(er) way round. Super inconvenient except for my movers who charge by the hour. * Cost 30% more than cleaner comparably sized units at nearby Public Storage facilities with higher ceilings (10 to 11 feet, instead of this location's 'approximately' 8, excuse me, 4 foot height). * Scripted, couldn't care less, district manager. Hi everyone, for anyone looking to rent from this location you need to be aware that they do not guarantee use of the elevator in the fine print. I'm on the second floor and I've had issues accessing the second floor with my bulky items by myself for months now and it's getting to the point where I'm paying $200 a month just to leave my stuff in there but not being able to get anything in or out AND every time I do need to use my storage unit I have to pay people to help me carry large items upstairs. For a company not to guarantee use of an elevator??? This just does not make sense to me and it seems pretty sketchy. I've spoken to people high up as I can get about this issue, even after I got stuck in this elevator for five minutes in February and there is still no compensation or offer of any kind to help make me feel like a valued customer. The people have spoken to all seem to be nice but no one can do anything. Just be prepared to not have access to your unit if it's not on the first floor and you have bulky items. I'm trying to find an alternative to renting from here as soon as possible but in order to get everything out and into another unit with a different company I'm going to pay people to help me because we again, cannot use the elevator. read more

Could be better. Units aren't as secure as I'd like, no A/C, so on a hot day, you'd work up a nice sweat. Elevator is sketchy, and you still have to get out of the car to get the gate to open with your code instead of just driving up and opening automatically. read more

I've had a bad experience at the public storage in Venice. Stuff got stolen and nobody helped me. By trying to save a buck, I decided to give them another go at another location. Today is my move in day, and I have until 6 to get there and sign the paperwork/look at the unit. Day after Christmas, hours are regular business hours, no word about post holiday hours. I get there at 3...nobody there. I call them, nobody picks up. I even went back an hour and a half later... light was on, door inside was open when it wasn't before..door still locked. This place is not only run down. The management is not helpful at all. Shayna, the gm has a terrible attitude. The only person that has ever been helpful there was Quirsten. I was robbed at this place. They did nothing except for tell me to deal with insurance. They charge an arm and a leg for a unit with a wall that's cut in half. I was expecting a 10 x 10 unit and ended up with a ceiling that's half way down to the floor. They are extremely unprofessional and unethical. The elevator which must be over 30 years old is constantly breaking down. I almost had to call the fire dept. When I pressed the emergency button it did not work. I'm sure this place has tons of safety violations. I don't know why the city has not inspected this place and shut it down yet. read more

The units are oddly shaped, elevator is ancient & frequently out of order. No interior security cameras. According to LAPD many burglaries occur @PublicStorage. Renter BEWARE. I honestly feel the reviews with multiple stars are fake. This company is only interested in your money & not customer care or service. Do not store your items here. read more

Absolutely the worst storage facility I have ever used. Upon moving into the unit, the elevator was not functioning. The movers had to move everything up three flights of stairs. The lighting was not functioning in the hall in front of my unit, so I had to bring a camping lantern to see inside the unit. It felt very warm and stuffy in the facility. I do not believe they have air conditioning. This facility feels and looks like you are entering into catacombs. The price increased twice during the single year I had a unit there. The hours changed without notice. I obtained the facility managers phone number from the public storage customer service, and left a voice message for a return call regarding the change of access hours to the facility. I never received a return phone call. They post access hours as 6am-9pm, however, this is totally untrue. I was only allowed access during their office hours of 9:30-5pm. The gate denied my access unless it was between these hours. Upon moving out of the unit today, the elevator broke half way up to the first floor, and I had to crawl out of the small space remaining to the outside dropping to the ground 6 feet. It was a good thing I did not have any belongings in the elevator or anyone else in the elevator when it broke down. I would have had to wait for someone to get it fixed. And there is definitely no air conditioning in the elevator.... There is not a single good thing I can say about this facility. read more

The second day after renting my unit, the elevator was broken , making loading literally impossible since there are no ramps to the third floor. The local manger was very apologetic and said they would have someone "come out in the morning" to fix it. I could not wait to unload my truck until the next morning because i had another load i had to get out of my old apt that day. I called Brittney, the district manager, and she said she was sorry there was nothing she would do about it, other than credit me for "one day" (about $5) for the inconvenience of paying for a non-usable storage unit, and delays it would cause me. Its been over a week now, four phone messages to Brittney, none of them returned, and still no credit. Since the staff was unwilling to take any action, I went ahead and figured out how to fix the elevator myself with a coat hanger, saving them hundreds of dollars for a service call. When I asked her how much money i saved them Brittney had "no idea" what it would have cost them for an elevator tech to fix it for them the next morning. Also, despite the 1$ first month deal, public storage thinks its savvy to charge you a "pro rated" amount for the remaining days of the first month you move in. So , if like me you realize you dont trust these jokers and dont want to do business with them, and get out after only a week, now i have called the local office multiple times, left 4 messages to the district manager, two messages to her supervisor Brett , and one message to "the department that can handle this" and still the 56 dollars charged to my account has not been refunded and no credit applied for fixing the elevator for them. read more
