From 5 years ago: I can understand why folks may 'not have the time' to post a review of a storage facility. After all, renting storage space is pretty straight forward, right? Well, I have rented from different Public Storage facilities in the past, from up in the Bay Area while in college to the Valley here in L.A. a few years ago, and I have to say that the level of professionalism and courtesy that Leslie displayed in helping with my family's needs was impressive. She almost practically anticipated answers to questions I hadn't asked yet, and provided a variety solutions to best fit our immediate needs. She clearly knows the facility and the process very well, and that made the sense of urgency with my family's move that much easier. Couldn't be happier with the overall experience! Highly recommend them! UPDATE: My original review was from 5 years ago, which is why I decided to return in Nov 2024 for the overflow of moving my business. Since PS went to an automated check-in (which went smoothly, btw), I guess corporate perception is that there's less of a need to keep anyone on the property, like the problems that arise will just fix themselves. In the 12 days that I've had a 10x10 storage unit on the 3rd floor, the roll down gate was locked a half hour early which meant that the movers that I was paying by the hour had to go through a conventional door to move my large pieces of furniture. And today, the elevator to get to my unit on the 3rd floor isn't working and the door to the stairs is locked... with no one on the premises to help with these issues, much less file a complaint about. I've been here an hour, and again, I had to send the contractor home who was going to put my banner on my newly moved business. After calling numerous PS numbers, I finally called PS Corporate to complain. I'll keep you posted on how the District Manager handles this situation. They say you have to buy their insurance, but the brochure says that purchasing insurance is not required. If you confront them they say it's illegal to not have storage insurance, which is a lie. read more

WARNING! AVOID! This place doesn't even have any carts to move heavy/large items to/from auto to your storage unit. Carts are a basic NEED at a storage facility. Do yourself a favor and find a competent storage company that is not GHETTO like this one. read more

Here's the tea guys.. I had a reservation made on the 2nd to move after the 6th for 5x15 unit at great deal that was available on the day I reserved the spot online I went to the location just to see the spot and Sunday the 5th I called before heading over I arrived there about an hour after calling it was 4:45 I was on the phone completing the reservation myself and the guy at the front desk couldn't hide how unhappy he was that I arrived at 4:45 when he closes at 5pm I told him my reservation number while completing over my phone and he says: -I don't have anything available at that size at all, I said that's not possible I called before saying I was just gonna check the space before completing it myself online on my phone which im doing now and like magic I get a msg saying that looks like I (my freaking self cancel my own reservation! How indecent obviously he didn't like the fact that I arrive at 4:45 or just didn't like my face maybe having a bad day or all together who knows, but he was mean enough to cancel too much coincidence that at the moment I told him my reservation gets cancel which his answer was I don't have any 5x15 available at all, and worst as if I'm the one who cancelled, coincidently right after I said him the reservation #, besides he had plenty 5x15 available u that can easily be seeing online I told him that how come I see online here that you have he answered back: well we don't unfortunately. So I called customer service explain that they were sorry and can help me get a new reservation for the double of the price almost of course because the promotion is not available. Would you guys expect me to reserve again and for double of the price of the one the worker just cancelled on my face? ahan why not? I mean who the hell does your marketing? Now I seem to have to start all again from the 0 looking for a place size and price which I can afford and move in with only two days for all that thanks to that unloved worker who cancelled right at my face and not one soul can undone his evil move I mean no one at all? this wonderful experience why I wouldn't dare to try get another space after being helped by such an angel and realized how almighty is everyone else that can repair in case any "error" and honor the deal I had until his wings hit the cancel button so gonna have to refuse the kindness and won't book another spot for the double of the price because I'm just ungrateful You can do that to me once but you won't be doing twice specially for the double of the price I mean what tactics are you using please use your brain guys, now even tho I seem to be busy having to search, find and move all in two days I won't be so ungrateful that cant spend a few minutes here with a deteriorate review because you earned and work on professional ethics so hard, I mean who am I to not make it loud and clear impressed to imagine all of you waking up early to promote such great experience like the one I had, if was me I would just simply go back to sleep. This particular facility' would be great if it were supervised by people who actually cared about customers and employees. They are terrible! I only rented a unit from them for 8/9 months!! I had enough of their disrespectful plantation like attitudes. They are the epitome of bad customer service. Since first renting from them until i moved out, this Tuesday. I've only met two employees who incidentally made the others look okay. The employees superiors didn't care enough to give them a commendation due to my feedback about their great customer service! So sad!! Tony Gradford, and Bilal are a major disappointment. Bilal tried to make me pay a $200 rent increase like I didn't know they were only supposed to increase the rent from $509 to $609. Gradford pretended to help me about the extremely bad customer service I endured from his regional managers, mainly Julia/Julie. Then he began ignoring my phone calls and messages. I mailed a letter to corporate. I have yet to get any response or acknowledgment. This company is a sorry excuse for a business. And they RAISE YOUR RENT EVERY SIX MONTHS!! Don't rent unit 2015. There is some sort of fluid leaking into the unit that they claim to not know where it came from. I believe it has happened prior to me renting the unit but they are acting as if it never happened. It was about 3 minutes short of closing time and I arrived at Public Storage with a 26' moving truck and about 26,000 questions. What did Leslie do? She answered all my dumb questions about how the doors opened and which was the best parking space in the whole lot and etc etc etc. My family was a hot mess when we got there and Leslie calmly and confidently put our minds at ease about everything... even though it was clearly time for her to go home. What does that mean? To me... everything! She won Public Storage a loyal customer and I really appreciate how she went above and beyond what she needed to. Thanks Leslie! read more

Leslie has always been very flexible when it comes to our moving trucks, not only with accommodating space for them but also gracious about the time it's taken us to move things in and out.   They also were very quick to notify us of a possible security issue with our unit.  Everything turned out to be okay, but I really appreciated their transparency. read more

I did the no contact move (several of my relatives have succumbed to covid19 ) so I'm extremely cautious, with said the woman and her staff were Extremely accommodating polite cordial and downright a pleasure to do business with. they, texted me a gate code that I guess is generated automatically and they were even so thoughtful as to call me and let me know that the code would not work and made it a point to give me a code that would work for my first night's move-in very impressed I would definitely recommend this location of public storage with a five star rating units are clean everything's all good thank you ladies, Ian C. read more

Nice people there. But rental prices will be changed more rapidly than they claim. I started at ~$150, and within a year it went to $180/month and now will be over $200 a month. Buyer beware, they do this more often than what they claim is "common," which is a price increase about once per year. read more

While businesses are trying to help their customers in this environment, I requested a simple pro rate of my monthly $581 fee for the additional 3 days I needed storage in April while my house was being repaired. I am a LONG time (2011) customer. The facility manager referred me to (the District Manager) who didn't answer my email or phone call. We finally got a return call after appealing to the facility manager for assistance. The district manager was totally inflexible, which forced me to move out on 3/31 before my house was ready. I had to stack my belongings in the garage. Instead of receiving 3 days rent, she got nothing and a very dissatisfied customer. Not a smart business decision on multiple levels. On another note, the elevator was out for months this summer. My units were on the third floor forcing me to haul items up and down stairs. When I asked for a reduction in rent, I was turned down. Sub standard facility. Sub standard customer treatment. I'm gone, never to return. read more

When I arrived to coordinate things, the facility coordinator at this location was extremely rude and condescending. She seemed like she hated anything that required them to do much of anything including, as Mark G had said in his review, changing the lightbulbs as the woman at the counter was rolling her eyes and had an attitude. I was shown the potential unit in the dark and dusty conditions to review before rental. Lights didn't work at all so there was no way to really tell anything. It didn't even look like the unit had been swept. When I got downstairs to the office I was told it going to take a bit because despite having two people there, the office only had capabilities of processing one person's rental stuff at a time. The other person there was on his phone. I asked that they help me since the other person was tending to personal matters trying to get things sped up. The person at the front proceeded to lecture me on talking to her customer by requesting this and telling me that I needed to wait my turn. This person had walked in a whole 5 seconds before me and was still talking on their phone while I was ready to go to be processed. It was at this point where I was told that the rental and pricing I had would not be honored despite having the reservation and having been told this before. They said I would have to pay a full rate and they didn't care if I had been told otherwise by the person making the reservation on the phone. They said they could do whatever they wanted. I was livid and said it was bs. They smiled as they told me know and were snotty and rude. I told them that the unit was actually for my friend and he would get the unit himself then. They said they would deny him too (and did) despite the fact that they had no right to do so. It was completely unprofessional and rude and just gross. Because of their behavior, it cost my friend and I a day of time and money having to figure out another solution. Typical bait and switch with this particular location. Beware and do not give your business. This location has no idea how to treat people appropriately. PHONE SUPPORT: I was told that the unit had a $1 special and that everything was ready for me to arrive and rent the unit. I had also stated when making the reservation that I had a unit through them at a different location on the phone. The representative further continued that this was fine and the $1 move in still applied. I was relieved and thought that this was going to work out without worries (from the phone support experience). Phone support had been SUPER helpful throughout everything. Unfortunately, despite this, the facility that was supposed to honor the deal did not though. There's a huge gap in communication here when it gets down to an individual unit, unfortunately. Hopefully, this location is not a good representation of how things are as a whole with the company because this totally extra sucked. read more

The storage facility is in a easy location, however, I am very unsatisfied with this company. I have been there for 3 years and will move out before the end of this month. First, the price constantly goes up. The price has more than tripled in the 3 years. It seems like everytime I enter my storage I get a postcard with a exorbitant raise in rates. I started at $325 a month, and the latest increase they are asking for $950. I guess they only want short term rentals. Secondly, the place is a dust and dirt mine. All my belongings are covered in dust and dirt. As I am getting ready to move out, I see my hands are completely black from the dust and dirt that has settled on the belongings. Lastly, with these increases the lights don't work in my unit. I asked the office three times if they could make the lights work, especially since I have access to my storage unit after hours and in the dark. They just shrugged their shoulders and did nothing to repair in the last two years. The parking lot can be very crowded with Trucks, so it can be hard to load and unload at times. But they may be true of several storage facilities. Given all the rate increases, I will no longer trust Public Storage as a choice, especially as a medium to long term storage choice. Absolute worst experience with a storage company that I have ever experienced. I reserved a unit on June 1st for move in on June 6th. I arrive at the property on said move in date to sign the paperwork. There is no management on site and the doors were locked. I call the office with no luck of getting a hold of anyone. I waited over an hour at the location with another frustrated costumer. I finally get a call from a random number at 5pm later that evening. I missed the call and they didn't even bother to leave a voicemail. I call back as soon as I figure out who called me. The lady in the phone THEN tells me that the storage unit I reserved is no longer available.... What? I ask why and she tells me that someone ELSE reserved the storage unit that I reserved DAYS ago. How does that even make sense???? She tells me it's because they paid online and I chose the option to pay at the location on my move in date and says there is absolutely nothing we can do. What is the point of having the option to pay upon move it if it's does not guarantee your reservation? She couldn't give me an answer and quite frankly, she she sounded like she couldn't care less. She then tries to up-charge me into renting a bigger unit for double the price of the original unit I reserved literally DAYS ago. So now I'm sitting here with ALL of my home belongings in a moving truck with absolutely nowhere to go because Public Storage didn't uphold my reservation; which, to me, STILL makes absolutely no sense. I call costumer service and she is even shocked at the situation I am going through with this location. She gives me the phone number of the district manager in hopes to resolve the matter. I then call the district manger. She doesn't answer either (no surprise there). I left a voicemail YESTERDAY and she has YET to return my call. So now, 24 hours have passed since I was supposed to get my unit and I am completely left in the dark on no fault of my own. I have never had such an unprofessional experience with Public Storage. This location needs to re-evaluate their reservation algorithm and, quite frankly, their employers. read more

Lets start with the office people. The two guys I've seen the couple times I've gone in are AWESOME! They are so friendly, helpful and funny. We've had many a good conversation. Now onto the actual facilities. It's clean, but they do not have a BIG dumpster which would be super helpful especially since when you move stuff in and out of storage you find some trash and stuff you wish you could dump. There is no AC except in the elevator and if you have a unit in the back like we did you feel like you are in the depth of hell it gets so hot. But it's always clean and the units are good. Got a bit pricey which is why we left but we were happy campers. read more

During these unprecedented times (covid-19) I have been forced to close my small business in Los Angeles due to the Stay Home Act. I have a storage unit for my business and I have always paid my monthly rent on time. Now, with this crisis, it has made it hard to pay rent with no income coming in. I spoke to the general manager at the Los Angeles location on Jefferson and I was told there was nothing they could do to help me. She said they are helping only units that are NOT paying rent so they don't lose their items, but there is no deferment plan or reduced rate she could give me, because the "market rate" at this time is higher that what I pay. And if I don't pay my rent, I will be charged a late fee. She did say that I could MOVE my items into a cheaper unit, although we are encouraged to NOT go out to public places (and move!?!). This company is HORRIBLE and the fact that there are concessions being made for everything in the world right now, Public Storage is NOT. read more

Would not recommend this company if my life depended on it. Staff borderline rude no people skills and when you need help the most they are EXTREMELY ineffective. I had to get district mgr involved to have pooped removed from the hallway of my Unit. When I ask about a billing error i cant get an answer from staff onsite OR at 877 nbr. Both staff either talk over you or are just ineffective. Still trying to get written confirmation of the "verbal" confirmation that i dont owe anything. I have rented from several public Storages throughout the years & have never had a problem until this one. The customer service is terrible. First of all, when I signed up, I brought my dog & the whole staff "ooh'd" and "aww'" over him. Nobody said a word about dogs not being allowed on the premise. Then when I showed up a week later, after driving an hour and a half with a car full of items for my unit, one of the same women who was there when I signed up, made me leave bc my dog was with me. She was extremely rude & cold about it. I wish someone would've told me that when I signed up there with my dog that dogs weren't allowed-- of course, I wouldn't have signed up with them if I knew it. This was just one example of MANY things they've been misleading about here. Public storage is usually a great company-- just don't come to this one. I used this particular location of Public Storage for two years and I highly recommend them. The staff were always friendly and helpful. The location is excellent. It would be nice if the dumpster onsite was available for tenants to use. But unfortunately, it's just for PS employees and the business use, not for anyone using the storage facility. Another help, would be if there was a Goodwill Donation Station in the parking lot. That would save all of us a lot of trips. There does seem to be room in the parking lot. All in all, this is a great place to store your goods. read more

Kasey was informative and understanding of our situation and walked us thru every step to set up a reservation. Once we arrived at the location Robin and Kasey were more than willing to assist us and knowledgeable with all they could do. They even stuck around a little later than they needed to. The manager Leslie has been very unprofessional and immature when dealing with simple issues. It does not surprise me that other people have left 1 star reviews. Kasey was truly amazing and helped us figure out the best space for our items. She showed us multiple units and was extremely friendly throughout the entire process. She even saved the day when we severely underestimated how much space we needed and was able to get us another smaller unit right next to the first unit. We moved our entire apartment to a 10x13 storage unit at this location. From the moment we made an online reservation until we completed our move, LESLIE was amazing. She did a great job with her follow ups, informing us about the procedures and providing all the assistance we needed during our move-in. She went out of her way many times to please us.
