I have unfortunately been here since my last one star review and I regret not leaving back then! They say they are climate control, but the thermostat on my floor is set to 80 (and it's only 75 outside right now). I was in my unit for 10 mins and was pouring sweat! When I spoke to the 2 clerks at the desk they couldn't have cared less and said "that is what it's supposed to be set to". Then why am I paying so much for climate control!!? Also they have a big ant problem which is visible along the bottoms of the doors and in the elevator door. (pics attached) I have a feeling that since the ant problem cropped up at the same time the heat went up to 80 degrees, they are directly related. The other grievance I have with them is that in the beginning they quote you a reasonable price at first and after 3 months significantly raise it. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! They sent a collection agency after my wife when we moved out (after we both notified management of our move-out date & paid in full) because the location manager that we gave the date of our move-out to forgot to write down that we were *also moving our stored car out* from our rented parking space the same day we would be moving our belongings out of our storage unit. So despite moving our belongings out of our unit + our car out of our rented parking spot *on the same day*, Public Storage continued charging us for the car spot. After we surprisingly got charged a month later for yet another month of the car rental spot (that we moved out of same date as our rental unit with our belongings), my wife called the manager and spoke multiple times, we were sent in circles by this location and corporate, finally I called her after weeks of no return calls and she told me she had made the mistake and not realized we also had the car spot she forgot to mark down as moving out same day, but since it was over 2 weeks from the day of the charge by this point (because we were waiting on return calls from corporate that never came) there was "nothing she could do". Absolute insanity. We disputed the charge with our bank, they agreed with our dispute and canceled payment, now Public Storage has sent a collection agency after my wife. So gross. This is one of the worst locations of any Public Storage. Thankfully, I moved out and got a bigger place so I don't need storage anymore. Front doors are dirty and the parking lot is so small. You can barely pull a small crossover SUV into the lot. Today I went to buy boxes and even though there's a customer at the desk and a person behind the desk and a janitor, they had the door locked and after five minutes of standing out there, and knocking a few times and then just being told to wait - I left. If I could just give Daisy 5 stars for her amazing service, I absolutely would. She was fantastic and so helpful. This storage unit though is another story. Such a poor set up, with broken elevators and TINY units (they don't specify if there is a large column in the unit, blocking space and making it impossible to fit furniture). The elevators suck and we waited forever each time we had to go up with our truck full of things. Multiple customers were also waiting and also very annoyed at the situation. Beware the scam, look elsewhere. Was quoted $240 for a decent sized unit after shopping around a lot. Moved a lot of stuff into it and was pretty content. 3 months later they emailed a notice to raise it to $330. That's almost 50% increase. Look at reddit, this is typical for them. They want you to have enough stuff in there that you don't want to go through the trouble of moving again. Customer service will tell you, all the contracts are month to month and they can raise their rent by however much they like with 1 month notice. I negotiated a lower rate for the next couple months but will be finding somewhere that's not a scam. Public Storage (the company) also makes it impossible to talk to a real person on the phone with customer issues. Even their 800 call in number runs you through 5 robo-voice sub menus and won't connect you to anyone. The 'local' number will go to voicemail and you won't get a call back. Best you'll do is the online chat on their website. As for this facility: Acceptably clean, feels secure. Limited hours so people can't creep around at night which is a plus for security. One of the 2 elevators has been broken for 6 months. 4 carts to use for 800 units. Only 1 person working typically so it can be hard to find an employee but the people here have been nice enough. When i moved in i asked for a tour and the employee was nice enough and walked me around for a bit but said they don't typically give tours. read more

Buglarized. Do not rent a unit here under any circumstance. A few months ago my unit was burglarized at this location. Tens of thousands of dollars of property stolen. Almost 100% cleaned out. I waited a bit to post a review here for this info to be more complete. Here are some things you should know. 1. The Public Storage brand lock they encourage you to buy - there are videos on Youtube that show you how pick it in about 30 seconds. 2. There is only one security camera on each floor. It's by the elevators. A burglar can wander the halls all day attempting break-ins, and none of it will be caught on camera. 3. Ridiculously, there is a stairwell that leads from every floor directly to the parking lot. There are no cameras in or leading to the stairwell. It's like having a bank vault with an unlocked back door. 4. The security system is archaic making it impossible to go through footage efficiently. 5. There are no words to describe how little PS cares about your burglary. Unless you relentlessly harass them, they will not even talk to you. They act as if a burglary on their property has absolutely nothing to do with them. I cannot stress this enough. 6. The direct management and district manager at this facility are particularly terrible. 7. Weeks after the burglary I was told PS did an "investigation" of the crime without even looking inside the unit. I have the only key. They asked me no questions and will not tell me anything about this so-called "investigation." The day I discovered the burglary, I called the "if you need assistance" number three times. It goes to the manager's voice box. No call back. In fact, no manager has ever called me. It's a dead end. I tried the "online chat" and was basically told that "no one is ever going to call you, because there is nothing to talk to you about . . . . and it was your decision to leave your property with PS." In other words, my fault. There is no way to talk to anyone. If you call any number you can find associated with Public Storage, you are recognized as a customer and you are routed to the voice mail that is never answered. Online, I found a corporate senior manager and asked for some kind of cooperation. She actually tried to be very helpful. She was the only reason anyone ever corresponded with me from PS. Every time I contacted her, a PS someone would call me. They were usually very sympathetic and professional, and would promise me that something immediately would be done. This began weeks of promises, but no one with any direct authority with my facility would have anything to do with me. Like I said, the direct management of this facility is a joke and a dead end. After being ignored for weeks, by some miracle I found the manager on site. It was like talking to a wall. How this person has a job of any kind or authority anywhere was stunning. Later, I tracked down the district manager for my unit. (She had never spoken to me, and at this point wouldn't even return calls from the police.) We spoke briefly. More of the same. Emotionless. Zero concern. Offered no help or insight. Deflected any questions about security cameras ("Our security team does that"). It's like they are all involved in a cover up. Weeks later, and after more noise from me, a regional manager called me. He did seem to act like PS was willing to cooperate, but in the end it was basically more lip service. I followed up with an email a couple weeks later asking if he had any new information. He responded with "Per our last conversation, it was made clear that there would be no additional follow-up." In his mind, he was done. Public Storage doesn't want to solve your crime. They want to keep it quiet and for you to go away. I could go on and on, but basically understand this. Security is a joke at this place, the management is terrible, and they just don't care. They really, really don't. If your space is burglarized, they won't cooperate with you, and they will barely cooperate with the police. Don't convince yourself that this won't happen to you. DO NOT rent a space here. read more

I'm giving this 6 star rating because of Daisy who works full time by herself managing the many units and the customers. Thete were three angry waiting for her help and she remained calm and efficient. I was given a far too small unit through customer service by phone and thanks to Daisy and another efficient worker, M, I changed to a larger space hours before my movers transport my home to storage. Public Storage needs to hire at least 1 more worker there so Daisy is not left alone to maintain the property and serve clients. it's way too much!!! read more

I really did not want to write this review but I want to warn others about this place they present you a storage unit and within five months will immediately increase your rate with zero warning!! more money because the reason is all backwards but I was told by the front desk that it is because the value of the storage unit has gone up in price. I can understand after (1) year to increase the price but after not even 5 months? I have left numerous messages for a manager to call me back and NOTHING! What is infuriating is they claim they are temperature controlled and they are not. Ants were everywhere the last time I went and I had to bring any traps and NO I AM NOT STORING FOOD. The elevator is filthy and never gets cleaned. The elevator never works and it takes me at least 10 minutes to get access to it with my mobile app. I feel that I have gotten ripped off and false advertising the unit. What a scam! I come to move out on the first of the month and they say you must move out on the 30th or pay a full month. First, who moves on the 30th? Second, I didn't move in on the first. Third, they prorated for the half month when I moved in but not when I leave on the first? Okay so heartless corporate policy, sure, but Andrew at this location was not nice about it at all. His response was a cold "it's in the contract". Do not store your things here. On top of this experience, its hours are terrible, access from the street is awkward and limited, the gate and building codes don't always work and the staff (not just Andrew) are either useless or just plain missing. I have been at this location since 2016. I have a 10'x15' unit and the facility is fairly clean. My initial rate was $270 / month. That is about all for the pluses at this location. Here's a list of the minuses. 1. Rate increases. Your rate will go up consistently every few months. Mine is currently at $420 / month - well above the average for the area. They won't allow a long term lease so they will increase it any chance they get. They know it's painful to move units and they take advantage of that. 2. The bathrooms are consistently out-of-order. 3. The staff are fairly helpful. My wife seems to interact more with them than I and she's not a big fan. But they do probably make minimum wage, so I wouldn't set your expectations too high here. 4. They recently changed the access hours. They used to be 6am to 9pm. They are now 9:30am to 6pm. While this may not seem to be that much of an issue, it is. The facility is located off of Jefferson Blvd - a six lane (3 each way) thoroughfare that is highly trafficked. Given you cannot enter the parking lot without entering an access code, every morning, there is a line to get in of anywhere from 5 to 15 cars deep. These cars are stacked on Jefferson during peak traffic and essentially block the entire lane. This is a MASSIVE safety issue. I have called them and sent support emails, but to no avail. Someone will get rear ended if they do not change the access hours to a time prior to rush hour. Even a simple change of allowing vehicles in at 7 or 8 would drastically improve this dangerous situation. They have been resistant to change this despite all my calls and emails. read more

Writing this review after multiple attempts at getting in touch with the "regional manger" about a storage unit leased by a family member who passed away due to covid. We paid the storage fees which brought the account current, but due to some misinformation about what paperwork was needed, and no return call from the regional manager (after talking to the corporate office) - now the unit is in arrears again. We wanted to remove everything from the unit at the time we paid the back due fees - but got excuse after excuse as to why they couldn't remove their lock and let us clean it out. First we had to supply the death certificate and the will (we did only to be told it had to be given to another manager WHO NEVER CALLED US BACK) So here we are a few days before the holidays and being told again that we have to wait for an email from this mysterious manager. This isn't right! The fees were paid and the unit should have been accessible at that point. This place just keeps giving us the run around!!!! read more

The east side elevator is dysfunctional gets stuck in route to the selected floor The elevator alarm works staff is inattentive. The staff is aware of the unsafe elevator operation despite this the power is still supplied to the unsafe elevator not even a sign warning of what doom awaits is posted. How stupid is that? They try to make it hard for you to get your stuff so they can charge you money for small things like--getting your car out of the lot because they will lock it in the lot if you don't get out in time . We got a raise of 15% 4 months ago. Now a notice of another raise of 37% ( yes. Not a typo) Total raise of 56% within 5 months.!!! Asked twice to review it but bluntly was rejected. A new customer can get the same unit today for the same amount as prior to my last raise from $288 to the incredible $390 !! Yes. I've been with the Play Vista Location for over a year now and I've had nothing but pleasant experiences with them. The staff is ALWAYs friendly. I love how everything is automated ( via phone/ app, etc). The place is always kept clean and felt very safe. You DO need to adhere to their hours though, meaning you must exit the facility b4 their closing hours. I left my storage 5 or 10 minutes after they closed and I got a warning notification. Overall I am very happy that I found this storage in playa. 5 stars all the way. read more

Be Warned. 6 months ago, we signed up & moved in. Aside from their sucky security technology and crappy access hours, all seemed great; staff is friendly and helpful. 2 months later the unit flooded during rainy season through a leak in the roof. The attendant said they knew about the leak and had roofers out several times. Took an entire day of our time, and incurred back injury to relocate to another unit with no compensation, just a 'sorry' for the inconvenience. Then dealing with insurance for the losses incurred. 2 months later I get a call saying I need to come to the storage space to pick up a new lock because the 'accidentally' cut the lock on our unit. No reason given, no explanation. Just another inconvenience and weak 'sorry'. 2 months later as a thanks for all their screw ups they raise the rental rate 30 PERCENT! I sent in a complaint. Then they say they will send my request to keep my current agreed upon rental rate in for a review. 2 hours later I get a text saying 'sorry we CANNOT adjust your new rate any lower. Actually they meant to say 'we CHOOSE NOT to adjust the rate'. Read the contract. I did but didn't in my wildest dreams thus they would screw their customers with a 30% rate hike within a six month move in. The agreement reads the term is month to month and they have a right to make adjustments in terms and rates at any point with a 30 day notice. So basically they get you in and with in a year could double or triple your rate or whatever the hell they want every 30 days. Be warned and stay clear. read more

I'd give no stars if I could. You would be better off storing your things in hell. In a climate controlled unit, I had extensive damage from animals/vermin and possibly water damage. When I called to put in an insurance claim, they said my insurance was canceled years before. This was news to me. I thought I had insurance the entire time and they cant tell me what happened. I was greeted with a smile each time I entered the storage facility and enjoyed prompt and thorough communication throughout our time with this location. Wasn't too bad for the first couple of months but then they raised my rent and changed the hours from 9a-6p. I work normal hours so I literally couldn't access my stuff during the week! I got another rent increase notice and decided I had enough. My stuff was only there 5 months but rent increased +15% during that time. I finally had time to move my stuff but it was 4 days after my billing cycle began and so they charged me a full month. They DO NOT PRORATE, so I got charged for 27 days I'm not even using the unit. When I called to schedule vacating, no one ever said anything about this which was before the billing cycle. I wish I would've read the reviews, better options next door (Storquest). read more

This review is long overdue but I certainly feel it necessary to warn anyone wanting to rent a locker from this location. I, along with my ex rented a space at this location for close to two years. Due to a horrible breakup, I packed up my things and moved out of state. My ex didn't want to move his things out of the rental space so I was assured that at the end of that month, the contract would be changed to his name to relieve me of any financial responsibility. That never happened. He decided to keep my name on it with me as the main contact because he didn't want to pay the fee for re-registering. For FOUR MONTHS the staff let this continue disregarding my emails and phone calls pleading to take me off of the contract. Finally, I was told by corporate the only way to get myself off of the contract was to turn over the unit to Public Storage which would mean anything in the locker would be sold. I went ahead and said I wanted to do that as I couldn't handle being tied to my abusive and manipulative ex. The employee that was dealing with went out of her way to make me feel like I was a bad person for wanting to turn over the locker. It's taken me over a year to heal from my breakup so thank you guys SO MUCH for adding MONTHS that I had to continue contact with such a horrible person when all you had to do was tell him he had to change the contract or move out. Incredibly expensive fees. For a business that is focused on helping people move, they close earlier on Saturdays and weekends. What does that mean for you? That means you cannot rent a handtruck or anything with wheels to help transport your belongings to your storage unit. If you come outside of office hours, be prepared and come with some kind of a dolly. Generally speaking, the front Office staff is what you would expect and if you have any needs that are somewhat different or unique, be prepared for some blank expressions. read more

If you go to this public storage do not get the insurance they will not pay. Filed a claim for missing items it took them over four months before they got back to me to let me know they were not under the claim. I sent him pictures and video which showed someone went through the wall to get into my unit from an adjoining unit they stated the pictures were insufficient and that they don't go out and investigate or check on the damage and since I no longer have access to the unit I can't send in more pictures or evidence and they know this. For me personally I had to use them but I will never use them again ever. read more

A few years back I took a job in Toronto. Not sure just how I would take to the my new home in the Great White North, I opted to keep all but the most essential things in storage here in LA. I shopped around but ultimately chose this Public Storage location because of its convenient location as well as it's ultra-clean, secure, climate controlled, facility. In the end, I found I was not cut out for most things Canadian (mounties, winter, toonies, etc) so I've made my way back to LA. But I keep some stuff in storage as a reminder of my time there (and so I don't have to deal with it). There is cheaper storage to be had in the city, but I was able to sleep well at night knowing my stuff was safe and sound. read more

I had a weird situation - my unit was broken into; lock was cut (need to buy their locks to be protected). When I went to see what was taken they had stolen skis, boots and rollerblades and then oddly left some bags and boxes of stuff in my unit. A few hours later they called to say they think they found my items in another unit ( the thief's cut multiple locks) . They said they knew who it was and the info was given to the police but could not share any info with me - I would need to file a police report but during Covid I'm not really interested in going to a police station. The air conditioning in the newest building ( the one in the back ) have not been working for several months......we used to have 3 storage units, one in the first building ( our large unit ) which we already cancelled and our current 2 medium sizes in the second building with NO AIR CONDITIONING .......
