Stay away! This is without a doubt, the worst storage facility I've ever used, let alone the horrible customer service. I just moved out, but there's no one to tell. The office is always locked with lights out during business hours - I'm not exaggerating. I spent all week moving my stuff out and the office has been locked all week. Moreover, Public Storage gives you no way to contact them except via the unit manager -- yep, the one who is never there. I left a message telling them I've moved out and, in the meantime, got charged for another month. My only recourse according to the website and customer service number: Contact the unit manager. Oh, did I forget to mention that the big garage door entrance to the area where my "climate controlled" storage unit was was always open - like 24x7 -- even when it's raining, freezing, or 100 degrees outside. That's because the entry pad for that door was broken the entire six months I was was there. read more

My experience with this location was great...until it wasn't. I reserved, paid for, and received all move-in information online. I was able to access my unit with the code and through the app as described, and payments were automatically paid upon the due date. After 5 or so months, I no longer needed the unit, so I scheduled to move out on the 31st of December 2023. I removed everything, cleaned the unit, and removed the lock from the door. Something also told me to remove the autopay on the account. Thank goodness I did! On January 7, 2024, I received a phone call from Lavon (sp?) informing my payment was past due. I was a little confused, because all payments had been automatically drafted from my account. I let him know I moved out on the 31st of December. He apologized and told me to disregard the call as he would handle everything on his end. Imagine my surprise when I received a letter from a collections agency for a past due amount in February 2024. I immediately called and spoke with Lavon. He told me his district manager, Zack, was supposed to handle it, and Lavon would follow up with Zack to ensure it's done. His district manager was out of touch for a few days, so Lavon asked me to call on the following Wednesday to confirm everything was taken care of. I am still able to login to the online portal which showed a past due amount, so I called the following Thursday. No one answered my call, so I left a message. The next day, Friday, I had not received a call back, so I called again. No one answered, so I left another message. The following week, I get a call from the collections agency. I think visited the location in person. Lavon was very professional and apologetic. He called Zack and told me everything will be taken care of in an hour. He also said not to worry about the letter from the collections agency. He took off his glasses, so I could look in his eyes and told me not to worry. A week and a half later, I get another call from the collections agency on a Saturday, so I visit the rental office again. I spoke with Connie who then called Lavon. He told her Zack was supposed to handle it, but Zack wasn't going to it on a Saturday or a Sunday. Wait a minute! Just last week, it was don't worry about it and it will be taken care of in an hour. It suddenly became something that can't be addressed on the weekend. Connie sent a follow up message to Zack asking him to take care of it. She included my name and phone number and asked Zack to give me a call to let me know the issue has been resolved. As I write this review, a past due amount is still showing on my account. I have disputed this with the collections agency, but honestly, it should have never gotten to this point. I understand people aren't perfect, and sometimes things are missed. This issue should have been resolved no later than January 8, 2024. I paid on time. I left the unit clean. I removed the lock. I have shown patience and given grace. I have followed up more times than reasonable. I have remained polite and calm during all interactions. I did my part. It's really unfortunate the parties involved won't do theirs leaving my credit at risk. read more

I do not recommend this location at 1801 Savoy Drive. The customer service is horrific. The manager Akia, is unprofessional, disrespectful and has a horrible screeching voice, as she yells and talks over you. She should be fired. I definitely do NOT recommend this location. I had moved to Cube Smart from Public Storage in Norcross as their prices went up radically. Public Storage bought this Cube Smart in June and the price was $116 for the unit. Now in December I get a notice that the price is going up to $154 for no particular reason. Their claim is that it is a monthly rental and they can change the prices at any time --- 33% rate increase!!!! I highly recommend against using Public Storage as this is the third time they have pulled this crap on me. Also, when it was Cube Smart, the staff were accessible, friendly, and helpful. With Public Storage they must be treated poorly as they are not accessible, and usually grumpy! read more

This facility is not well managed and it is obvious the management has zero interest in upkeep or providing customer friendly amenities. There is one (1), I repeat 1 moving cart available for the entire facility and you have to present your ID to use it. The lighting is dingy. The elevator moves at a snail pace. The pricing for units is not competitive - esp. with so many fresh and new storage facilities nearby. Not a good experience and moved my remaining items to Lifeline Storage. Well lit. Better pricing. I have used Public storage stores many times different locations and never had a problem so I assumed I would have the same great experience with this location Not only did they used the bait and switch tactic, The climate control doesn't exist. The a/c doesn't work. My quote to move in was $25 when I got the the location to sign my move in paper I was told there is an additional fee for the Lock that is to be use on the unit and I could not use my personal Lock to secure my things. Bring my total to move in $57. The second elevator which is convenient to my 2nd floor unit was not working when I moved in. So the movers that I paid to move my things charged me an additional fee to move my things off the already loaded truck since they were inconvenienced to walk several halls and use the far elevator to my unit. They give you a gate code when you move in but the gate and doors are always open and unlock for anyone to walk in without a code. Even after all of this, This past week i was stuck in the only working elevator for over 30 minutes I had to dial 911 from my cell phone because there is not a working phone in the elevator for emergency. Thank God my phone had service. Because the elevator has no A/C. It was extremely hot as I waited for the firemen to get me out of the elevator. I have tried several times to speak to management about my horrible experience with being stuck in the elevator. I have left several messages. It's a week later and no one hasn't returned my call. read more

I started this review on 2/26/16, and recently updated it with a little more information. I moved into a new place the last weekend of January, and went to the storage unit on the 1st of February, saying that I would have my things out by the middle/end of the month and if I could pro-rate it for then. After showing up between 5:45-5:55 and seeing that the doors were locked before 6, I finally talked to someone. I asked them if I could sign out now, because I knew that it would take me a little while to get everything loaded, and I didn't know how long I'd be, and I didn't want to keep them past 6. They said I couldn't do that, that I had to get all of my stuff out first. So then I rushed around getting the last few boxes loaded into my car. I mean, literally. I was breathing hard and sweaty. I had to have my stuff completely removed from the unit before even doing that, or so they told me MULTIPLE TIMES. I asked them about pro-rating and they looked up the info on the computer, and said they would call me the next day to figure it out because I had already auto-paid. I checked my bank statement and I hadn't but whatever... So they still processed my payment for the next month, when they could have canceled it. At any rate, I was busy moving my things, so fast forward to me having to call them again about it. This was after they said they would reimburse my money. A manager told me that over the phone, and it just ended up being a lie. And suddenly when I re-called them, there wasn't any "policy information available." Because my account was already deleted. I checked the website, and it stated that accounts were deleted 60 days after checking out the unit, but at 30 days, my account had been deleted. I am suspicious this was because I called around and spoke to the general manager and such, and they wanted to erase my information from their website, so they could claim I was never in the system. This was not something I could remove myself from btw. I was told during that second call that they never made a note of the issue of being pro-rated with my initial call. And then they blatantly lied to me. The person I called said that they were the one who checked me out, and they said they never told me I could pro-rate the rent. And when I asked the question, "Well why would I check out early if I wasn't going to get any of my money back for the rest of the month?" Their response: "I don't know." I'm college-educated, graduated with honors (magna cum laude)... I write and proofread for a living, so I'm not an idiot. Did I read the papers? Of course! At the time they were packed with my things, so I couldn't question them. But this person was telling me things, looking me straight in the eye the whole time as they repeated them several times. So I figured hey, I could trust them, right? This is their job, and they're only trying to help me... Right? Also, just as a heads up... The people that work here encourage you to write positive reviews about them when you're getting a unit. They tell you to rate them well on Yelp and Google if they served you properly, right after you sign up. So when you haven't actually been with the unit more than 10 minutes, they want a positive review. Just something to be aware of: these reviews are unequivocally rigged to shine a positive light on this establishment. That being said, here are some general pros/cons. The unit was okay, the customer service just sucked: PROS: -Right off the interstate. Good location. -Lots of different people have units here: young college students, single parents, 60 year old southerners, 20 something hipster kids. CONS: -They don't actually stay open until 6. They lock the doors about 10-15 minutes prior. -The 6 months I had a unit there, I saw a dolly twice. And I do mean A SINGLE dolly. Eventually, they started to keep them in the office, so if you're like the majority of people who have full time jobs, you won't ever get to have one. (I ended up purchasing my own dolly.) -The doors into the buildings are supposed to be closed on the weekends or after the office closes at 6 pm. But they were closed only once, and that was during a heavy rain. In other words, you could have a unit here, and easily go throughout every building at your leisure. -Elevators can't heavy handle rains. I was here during a rainstorm, and the power for the entire building (as well as the elevator) actually died WHILE I WAS IN IT! Luckily, the doors had just started to close, so I was able to shove them open and book it down the stairs. -They don't have any kind of back-up generators to speak of, because the power didn't come back on while I was there. -They require you to buy add ons and extras, so their $1 special ended up being a $30 special. read more

We had to get a small unit to store the hard top for my husband's Jeep, since we have no garage. Paige was great to deal with, got is the smallest one for what we needed. It is so close to where we live now, that getting things out or taking things is not a problem. read more

If I could put zero stars, I would. Public Storage is tow-happy!!! They will tow you for any reason! They're the WORST!!! We only just decided to move our stuff there and unbeknownst to us, they don't allow you to park in their parking spots overnight. We returned the next day to continue unloading our Uhaul and it was GONE!!! Nothing was ever said to us when I opened the unit and there are no signs on the doors about not being able to park overnight. Watch out!! It's the most despicable, non-Customer-friendly action they could take. They're a storage unit, for goodness sakes!! Of course people are going to be moving in!! We only had a mini-van and it was safely parked in a completely empty parking lot. These people are crazy here! This is not the first unit we've rented but it will definitely be our last with Public Storage. IN ADDITION...their signage is incorrect! The address is wrong and so is the fine they charge you. $165 of money we don't have just to get our Uhaul rental back. Public Storage must definitely get a kick-back from all this towing. They're just awful! And I spoke to the Manager AND District Manager, both of whom didn't care to correct the situation or were upset they were losing a customer of one of their biggest units. So they definitely are in the towing business. RENTER BEWARE!!! read more

I stored some valuables in a climate controlled unit at the Savoy Location for about a year. Initially I thought it was a good location and clean. However during the year I was there, the air conditioning went out during the heat of summer. I was given no notice and my valuables showed mold. Yuk. so if you are storing couches or fabrics of any kind, or artwork, beware you will not be told when they shut off the air. If mold is not a problem ok. Now for the worst problem, Not enough loading dollies. There is only one (1) for the entire location and if someone is using it in another building or has decided to store it in their own storage unit, you have nothing to haul any of your items. This caused me a huge problem when I wanted to more some items. It took hours instead of minutes. Uhaul on the other hand, has a loading dolly in each hallway. What a difference!!!!!! They say the dollies were stolen. Simple solution: either charge for the usage of the dollies or take a drivers license from each person using the dolly until it is returned. I would have prefer either one to not having the use of one at all. This was particularly difficult when I moved out. I took 8 hours to move out using a hand truck. this should have taken max 3 hours with a dolly. I would never recommend this place to anyone. There are much better options at the same price. read more

I was in a bind having just moved to ATL and needed to have my stuff put in storage with a moving truck coming next day. Renelle at this Public Storage was super helpful and quick! She got me setup with a great deal for the first month, showed me the facilities, took inventory of everything I was planning to store, and helped me select a unit that fit everything just perfectly. The staff is great. They were very nice and helped me with everything I needed. Prices are on par with Uncle Bobs which I think is nicer inside. Cons: Climate controlled storage area could be cooler, they could provide more than one flatbed cart (that i've seen). The lights in my unit are too dark and all lights inside are on a timer that uses motion sensors. The sensors are only in the halls and you sometimes have to walk halfway down the hall to get the lights back on. read more

We saw an advertisement of specials on storage spaces at public storage for Labor Day. Knowing that we were to be doing renovations on our home, we reserved a space and I went to speak to the manager. I specifically asked her if we got the unit at the sale price, if they would raise the rate on us in a few months after we got all of our stuff in and she said, "no, I was on a call about this just this morning and they said that your rate would be your rate, so it won't be raised." And she showed me a great space that was on the bottom floor right next to the loading dock so that it would be easy to move in. I paid for the space at the great sale price, even though we were not yet ready to move in yet. She said that they used some weird bolt lock on the spaces and that they sold them there, but that I could probably find it cheaper elsewhere, so that is what I said I would do. We weren't ready to do our renovations so we let the space sit empty. A few months later, the manager called and said she noticed our unit didn't have a lock and was empty and asked if we still wanted it and I told her we did. It was difficult to get any info about the lock. I called the main line a couple of times and they could not tell me the size or any information about what lock to buy. The manager wasn't sure of the size so she measured it and said it was about 3/4". 6 months later we were finally ready for our renovations and hired movers. Showed up to public storage and the new manager informed me that we no longer had a unit and that they had given our unit away a month before and that they did not have any units that size on the 1st floor anymore. She said that it was their policy that every unit had to have a lock at all times. She said that when people moved out, that was how they knew the unit had been vacated because people did not call and cancel their accounts. If that is really their policy, then why was my credit card charged for 6 MONTHS for a space they just gave away. So she made us pay for the previous month and the current month and gave us a less desirable unit on a top floor at the same rate. It took our movers a lot more time to move our stuff in and cost us a lot more money. Then we get a call a month later saying that they were raising our rate by a lot. Spoke to the district manager, Ariel, who had an attitude and was rude. She says what their old manager told me was not true and that it wasn't her problem and that we were welcome to move our stuff out. We are extremely disappointed with public storage. Wasted $500-600 on a unit that they gave away and had to pay movers several hundred dollars more to move into a top floor unit. And now they are raising our rate, after we moved in of course. If I had been told this prior to moving in then we would have gone elsewhere. Very disappointed with the customer service at public storage, they should go to Chick-fil-A training to learn how to speak to customers. In summary, Public Storage will lie to you to get you in, then raise your rate. Buyer beware!!! read more
