Let's start with the company overall, their fees are ridiculous and they have no issues raising them on a whim- all. the. time. We were paying almost 300.00 a month for a unit a little smaller than a traditional sized garage. Their insurance is a scam. Fifteen dollars a month for absolutely ZERO coverage. We had a mold issue in their "climate-controlled" building. The office denied the issue even after we showed the very company loyal girl at the desk. The insurance company wanted receipts for our damaged property. Receipts for my grandfather's furniture... yeah, OK. They know full well that no one has receipts for their stuff unless, of course, you're storing products for a business. We moved out of our unit one day after we paid for the month and we were charged for the full month!! They don't prorate. If I had known that I would have kept the lock on the empty unit for the full month so they wouldn't have the opportunity to rent it out and earn double rent for the month. Such a scam and horrible money-grabbing business model. We moved to a smaller/cheaper (for now) unit closer to our home in Brick, NJ. The woman who runs the Burnt Tavern Road site is just awful. I'm all for taking my job seriously, but she takes renting out a garage to a whole new level. You're not saving lives lady, you're storing people's junk. Someone needs to tell Public Storage that COVID restrictions are over in NJ, so it's OK to have more than one person in the office (there was no need to yell at the elderly woman who came in after us for being in the building and not having a mask). She was uncooperative about seeing the unit because we had to walk to it... because COVID prevents her from letting us take the golf cart. Ok, so let's walk. She wanted us to rent the unit online even though we were standing in front of her. If I didn't need a place for my junk I would have walked out but PS knows people have stuff that needs to be stored so they know they can do what they want.... may as well be the cable company. I do not recommend this company and I'm seriously considering just throwing everything out so I don't have to use them anymore. read more

I was happy with the great rate provided to me upon move in and the facility is nice and clean, and although the contract says that rates can go up time to time with 30 days notice, it is unacceptable to raise my rate after less than 6 months of use, by over $100 or 25%. This is terrible business, especially since I can't easily move out of a 10x30 unit to a more honest storage company. Am I to expect the rent to continue going up whenever Public Storage decides? 25% whenever they want? Units at the same location are renting for $200 less, so this is just plain taking advantage of customers. The customer service team is impossible to deal with, no accountability, no offer for a solution. I will never use Public Storage again and will highly recommend others to stay away. read more

I was late for an appointment with her and early for the next. Ashley and Heather showed me two units and I settled on a 10x10. the service from the very beginning to the end was amazing. The office staff is amazing. My only complaints are, I wish I had lighting in my units. My other complaint is if you leave even a minute late corporate sends texts and makes the office call you. It would be nice if they had a small window of time before reprimanded you. read more

Beware of public storage!! I rented a unit Sept 1 for 215 a month was told its a month to month lease and when I asked if the rate changes they told me this was my rate. After 3 months it went up 70 dollars a month! This is unacceptable especially since I am also renting a pods and there rate ( which is cheaper) stays the same. Every other storage facility locks in your rate. I would not recommend Public Storage!! read more

Where to start, lets start here the person answering the phone has the personality of a toothpick and loves nothing more than to talk over you and to you as you as though you are 2 years of age. It would also be informative if they would tell you of the cute scams that are included in the contract and in most of the hidden fine print especially the one that if you have the storage unit for 1 day or the full month the price is the same they do not prorate you. This means you just get slapped with the full amount if you vacate the unit lets say after less than a week, which if you had that information you may as well have just stayed for the full amount of time in the month. Than you will be blessed with the truly infuriating statement of "we were not running that special at the time you signed up but I can offer to let you speak to the manager". Always a favorite. Again now what makes that statement even more infuriating is this person knows they are the manager on the phone ,as if people do not remember the voice of the person they spoke and that memorable personality from that in person conversation when they signed up. Ah yes here in 2022 everyone is living in Stupidville where Public Storage is the mayor and if you use Public Storage then you have just upgraded to a bigger house there... NEVER AGAIN I would rather throw my stuff out or donate it before storing it there. read more

She also explained all the pricing in a very easy to understand manner, and made us feel completely informed. Yeah, it's a perfectly fine storage unit for storing your unused stuff, however my main issue for giving them such a low rating is the fact that they keep raising my rates with absolutely zero notification. My rate originally started at $79 a month and with the rate hike last month I'm currently at $159 + tax a month. If you are signed up for auto payment, you might want to check your statement. It's shady to be raising rates with no email or phone call, especially when clients are being auto charged. I'm out of this place ASAP! read more

We already had items in a 10x10 unit at Public Storage and needed to downsize to a 5x5. Called and spoke to Mike who told me it was best to do a transfer if possible since that would save us on being charged the admin fee when you get a new unit. When we went to the Public Storage office on Monday, we dealt with Ashley and Joel. Both individuals were awesome and super helpful. Can't tell you how nice it is to work with a company who helps you save money and does what's in the customers best interest. I saw what Eli B. wrote about rates hiking up but don't know how he can say it was happening without notification. I would get both emails and notifications thru the mail when that was happening.
