Check in was problematic. Onsite agent did not want to acknowledge nor honor the "promo" that was included in my onlne reservation. When I originally called Public Storage to ask questions about pricing and fees, the agent on the phone was impatient and annoyed at me. Not only did he go above and beyond for my family and I he even called to make sure there wasn't anything we needed after we had gotten settled in. a huge Kudos to John @ the Eatontown Public Storage . He is the most honest, genuine individual you will meet in today's world. helpful, goes the extra mile when you need help, and easy to talk to. My only complaint is that the longer you rent a storage unit, the higher the cost! when I started renting a 10x15 unit it was around $187 / month, that price increased so by 13 months later it was up to $243. I finally had to empty it out. access to the place is easy and it's plenty wide for a box truck. No problems with rain penetration or bugs or mice. Would I use it again, probably, but I'd ask first how long before I get hit with an increase. read more

Management does not communicate with you, they close access to the entire property to seal the blacktop with no notice. Since the pandemic the Eatontown New Jersey office is never open for business and the manager doesn't return your phone calls (I left many messages), if you have an issue that needs management attention you're out of luck! When you have a problem with the gate, there is no one there to help you, so you won't get in. Sadly, a fire broke out and all I recieved was a phone call late Sunday 2/19 evening with a demand to come see my unit, Ah, I'm 250 miles away. When I did arrive I was met with a release and told that I would be in a hazardous area. This C Block unit was not tapped off. No gloves, mask, wipes, or hand sanitizer were offered or available. Nor was a police report number.They were more concerned that I sign off on abandoned property since they wouldn't accept fire, water or smoke damaged items in their facility. I was also upset that items dragged from the units were trashed before anyone could view them. Photograph everything. And since a fire report is required for insurance you would think that they would have that handy or the number to call to get one. You'd think, but they obviously don't. Off to the corporate office to vent and investigate why they don't have a sprinkler system. Also a few calls the the police and Fire Marshall of Monmouth County to get the information for insurance. read more

Extremely rude, poor customer service. Unable to reach anyone in the office after calling and leaving multiple messages for 3 day's prior to driving 3 hours to my unit. Upon arriving, woman behind the desk offered no help to my problem. Turned around and continues working on paperwork and ignored me. I basically begged her to help me problem solve a solution and she rudely laughed and said she couldn't. Plenty of other storage facilities to pick from, don't waste your time here. read more

Public Storage is a sleazy operation. There are reviews elsewhere online and they were clearly written by paid shills. You will be required to buy storage insurance (even if you have suitable homeowners insurance coverage) and you will be required to buy a lock from this facility. The manager refused to rent a unit to me if I did not buy their lock and their insurance. The late fees are a joke and the rent increases are uneven and excessive. I do not recommend this facility. read more

A horrible scam! Whenever I was late on a payment, or something was still in the storage, that they couldn't close my account out, they would call me nonstop. Then, when it becomes their fault and charge me for an extra month of storage, no one answers the phone! I left many messages to Angela, even called corporate, and no resolution. They continue to ignore my calls, and then put me through a debt collection! What a joke! Take your business elsewhere! read more

Unethical if not illegal the way they do business. I was told at the very end of a very long horrible process to get the unit that I had to purchase their insurance to cover my belongings. I told them that I have a homeowners policy that would cover them and they said I would have to provide proof. The contract clearly states that it is my option to purchase it. However they did not allow me to finalize the rental process without purchasing their insurance. I'm in the insurance business and I will be contacting the department of banking and insurance on Monday as this is illegal and I believe a form of "twisting" There are only a few scenarios where a person is required to purchase insurance and this is not one of them. Also, they are extremely rude and possibly the worst customer service I have ever experienced in any industry. Take your business elsewhere! read more

This place is a complete rip off! Got a great price moving in and Angela the manager was very helpful. However, I got an email today that they are raising my rent by $25. What?? Are you kidding me? That's a little ridiculous and unfair if you ask me. They rope you in with a good price and then raise the rent after only a couple of months. I am now scrambling to find a new place and have to go through all of the trouble of moving my belongings. I'm sure they're hoping you won't go through the trouble and just pay them what they ask, but I will not give them a dollar more than I signed up for. I don't know how this is ethical, but I will not recommend this place to anybody. read more

Do I have to leave a star? The "manager" Angela has no customer service skills. I ordered a unit online, which is there preferred method. With my reservation number I received my total move-in cost. When I arrived, Angela, who was not helping me but another customer has to put her two cents in when the other rep was letting me know that I would be paying 130.00 more than I was quote online. Now I know how this works. I rent units a lot for my business, so it's not unusual they tack on a bunch of fees that don't tell you about up front but this reason was because I am already a customer of theirs, I do not receive the promotion they promised and reserved online. So basically if you'd like to be loyal to Public Storage you are penalized for it. Fine Dumb policy but fine. It's the way Angela had to be so rude and tell me that she figured the extra 130.00 was not a big deal so she didn't bother to call me to tell me I would not be receiving it. Be forewarned, you may start out with a nice low monthly payment and then 6 months later they are going to jack your rate up!! Ours went up $40!!!! I find that a bit ridiculous!! And there is a worker, Dave, there that is very rude and when I called to inquire about the rate change, he hung up on me and threatened to call the cops on me, just for asking some questions!! Only positive, in my opinion, is the location. And they would use some upgrades and improvements around the property. read more

Sadly I cannot put negative stars in here. I feel that storage units doing business as they do now should be outlawed. Even during a worldwide health and financial crises they are undeterred about charging outrages late fees. Sure they call you a day after the fee has posted to advise you about it, but deep down they don't care. I've calls their corporate offices a few weeks prior to inquire if they had any plans to help their customers that currently financially burdened, but the answer was no, but I still would have to the 5th of the month to pay and they would not auction off anything till the beginning of the next month. I think this practice has to stop. If they want to be in the auction or selling business, then register as such, not camouflage it as a storage facility. It really appears they just want to sell your stuff. Again, I believe those auctions and selling-off practices should be outlawed or at least delayed for a minimum of 7 or 8 months so that people have the chance of getting back on their feet. And yes, I forgot to mention, I live over 1000 miles away, so dropping in to pick up my stuff is not even an option right now. Then of course is their insurance mandate, the constant rate hikes, it's just terrible. Well, I guess I have vented enough for now, but I'm certainly not done with them yet. read more

Initially there was an issue with my move in time. I had told the office that I would be moving in between 2 -3 on Sunday. After a very stressful day of moving, I came to Public Storage only to find it closed until 3:20. It was 2:50 and no one in sight. I was very upset as I was paying people by the hour to help me move. As my daughter and I waited, I saw a man with a Public Storage tag at the Quick Chek and I approached him. I explained the situation and he very graciously cut his break short to accommodate me.
