The public storage company located at 1007 E Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511-5515 is nasty, and the employees are rude. When I first moved my belongings in there, I told the manager about the nasty roaches. She immediately tried to say that it was palmetto bugs, and that is was impossible for there to be nasty roaches. I know the difference between palmetto and German roaches. I do not completely blame the company for the roaches. Nasty ass folks brought them to the storage. It was a foul smell for awhile. I learned that there are some nasty living folks in the area. A trifling girl who had a unit next to my daughter's left her daughter's hair accessories piled up in front of the unit like it belonged to us. She also left a lot of trash next to the door. ‍ This whole experience was nasty, disgusting, and unprofessional. Next time I will take my belongings to Hide-way storage located at 1505 S. US Hwy. 301, Tampa, FL 33619. They are very nice, professional, reasonable, and very clean.

When they get an infestation they just put up caution tape... they don't even bother telling the people who rent the unit....

We chose this facility because it was advertised and represented as a secure, premium storage option, featuring vertical pivot metal gates, a 10-foot cement perimeter wall, full surveillance cameras, covered storage, and well-lit grounds. We pay $350 per month for this service (an increase of over $100 in the past six months), under the belief that these security measures would protect our property. At approximately 9:34 p.m. on August 3, 2025, unknown individuals entered the premises through the exit gate. They proceeded directly to our boat and spent over one hour, according to surveillance footage reviewed with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, forcibly working on it. For more than 30 minutes, they used tools to grind off the lock on the trailer tongue, destroying the tongue in the process. The boat was then relocated to the back of the lot, where thieves removed: The entire Yamaha motor and bracket Two Garmin GPS units Steering wheel Motor controls Ignition system and wiring 36V lithium battery Various other equipment and personal property from inside the boat After the theft, the boat was returned to its original parking spot. Despite the facility's surveillance system and staff, we were not notified until 2:44 p.m. the following day, August 4, 2025. Only after we were contacted did Safeguard notify the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Adding to our frustration, Safeguard Self Storage processed our monthly payment the same day the theft was reported. When we contacted the District Manager multiple times regarding reimbursement, we were informed that the company would not cover any losses or provide financial assistance. To date, no stolen items have been recovered. Our boat remains at the facility awaiting inspection by our insurance adjuster. This experience has left us financially harmed, emotionally distressed, and with a total loss of trust in Safeguard Self Storage. Despite paying for a facility marketed as safe and secure, our property was directly targeted, stripped, and left under their watch without intervention or adequate response. I had to give 1 star because it will not allow me to give a zero.

I was able to make a reservation online, and the in-person follow up/payment process was smooth. I do wish the property allowed 24 hour access to the units but that's not a deal-breaker. Currently the time to access your items is 6:00 AM - 9:00 PM at this location. Kindly note that vehicles are required to enter a security code for the main gate to open when EXITING the property and the panel is located on the passenger side of the vehicle path. This means that if you are alone, as you exit, you will have to stop and put your vehicle in park, and exit the vehicle to enter the code for the main gate to open. Then you dash back into your vehicle to exit the property. This seems a little unsafe, so an option is to take a 2nd person with you, to allow THEM to enter the code while seated in the vehicle. Bottom Line: I would rent storage space from this location again.

They started 2026 off with $765 dollars for a 20x20 storage unit and I had two units. This was a hardship on me and they didn't care, so I moved out. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone nowadays. Go look elsewhere. George Englar
