The property is neat and clean thus far and the property manager was friendly and helpful. I have only rented for 2 days at the time of this post. I was able to make a reservation online, and the in-person follow up/payment process was smooth. I do wish the property allowed 24 hour access to the units but that's not a deal-breaker. Currently the time to access your items is 6:00 AM - 9:00 PM at this location. Kindly note that vehicles are required to enter a security code for the main gate to open when EXITING the property and the panel is located on the passenger side of the vehicle path. This means that if you are alone, as you exit, you will have to stop and put your vehicle in park, and exit the vehicle to enter the code for the main gate to open. Then you dash back into your vehicle to exit the property. This seems a little unsafe, so an option is to take a 2nd person with you, to allow THEM to enter the code while seated in the vehicle. Bottom Line: I would rent storage space from this location again. read more

Was a great customer of theirs for over a decade and the rent was fine for a while. But after Covid 19 this company got real greedy and started raising their rent prices astronomically . They started 2026 off with $765 dollars for a 20x20 storage unit and I had two units. This was a hardship on me and they didn't care, so I moved out. Woman in the office at the 1351 E Brandon Blvd location was a nightmare! One of the rudest people I've ever come across. She was unhelpful and horrifically rude. I also had very big problem with NO ONE AVAILABLE ONSITE EVEN DURING PUBLISHED HOURS stating THE OFFICE WAS OPEN. My rent went from $108 per month to $180 per month in approximately a year. My niece had a much better experience at the 1007 E BRANDON location. They were very helpful and polite in that office. read more

I have been a customer at this public storage for over 13 years. When I first rented my space the rent was approx. 130.00 per month for my unit. Over the years the rent was raised approx 30.00 per month with no improvements to the site. This last month I rec'd a 100.00 per month increase to my rent for the year. This brought my rent up to 450.00 per month. For what? I called the facility and pretended to be a new customer looking to rent the same exact same size unit. I was quoted 130.00 a month! I researched the laws and it seems they can do this legally. Why would a company being paid from a loyal 13 year customer paying 350.00 per month for a rental space attempt to increase my rent to 450.00? It makes zero sense. They now will rent the exact same space for 130.00 per month. I will be calling the BBB next. My belongings are now out completely. I am at a U Haul storage facility right down the road that is in excellent condition paying 130.00 per month for the same size unit. I will never recommend Public Storage to anyone. I am appalled at the serious advantage taken of me. I hope this helps anyone thinking about using Public Storage. There is are also rat droppings and urine on the floor that became visible when I emptied the space. I am now contacting the BBB. read more

Everything was fine for the nearly 5 years we rented at the Providence Road, Brandon Fl location, until my last month. I was told I had to pay for an extra month because I was checking out on the 1st of October rather than the last day of September EVEN THOUGH the last day of September was the Labor Day holiday. THEN...I only had 2 items remaining in the storage that I sold and told the buyer he could pick the items up anytime that month since I had to pay for an extra month. THEN a week later I received an email informing me that I was "all checked out and fully paid. Thanks for being a customer." WHAT? I went to the unit and discovered that they had either STOLEN or threw away my 2 items and no one seems to know who it was or where the items went!! I was told the regional manager Mandy Frye would be taking care of it. I have never heard the 1st thing from her, even though I have called her more than 10 times the past few weeks asking her to call me, refund that last month I was charged falsely AND return the stolen items! Such a shame that after years at this facility they have done this to us. RENTERS BEWARE! read more

The manager Debi and the Customer Service Alexis were big beyond amazing. In very new to Florida, from Chicago and she saw worrying in my face. She asked what was wrong and I told her that I just received notification that my new apartment will not be available now until 9/7 I'm staying with a good friend of mind that has a very small apartment and all I had to storage was my daughters toys. She asked what's else is wrong I told her I'm in the process of divorcing and with my recent move things just don't be to be going smoothly. She was able to get me accommodated in a nice locker just big enough for my daughters toys. She and Alexis were the sunshine to the rainy day when i walked in there. They were both friendly, explained everything in detail, that was easy to understand, took my to my locked and even found me a cart to put my bags and boxes on because I currently broke 2 toes. Unbelievably bad customer service. I wanted to see someone in the office about renting a unit. Never anyone there. I emailed and received confirmation that someone would be there today. Of course there was no one there. I called the local mgr phone listed in the window, no answer. Called the main 800 number and was rerouted back to the local number where, you guessed it, there was no answer. Even the chat feature is just a futile effort. I had to utilize this storage as i recently moved and did not have the space to fit my larger furniture. i had a really good experience up until i received an email stating that my rent has increased. I only have made 4 payments and it has already went up $10. That is crazy after such a short time. i reviewed my contract and its okay for them to raise the rent and you kind of shut up and deal with it, but my concern is if i need this storage for another year or so... am i going to be able to afford this? Probably not because they can do what they want. I will be pulling my stuff out of this facility in the next couple months. I don't like to give my money to a company who obviously doesn't value their existing customers. read more

I am moving from Dallas to Tampa and am pretty stressed out with such a big move. I made a reservation over the phone and they could only hold it for 7 days which wasn't long enough. Well Grace, who is the property manager called me by phone shortly after I made the reservation. I commend her with being able to deal with me as stressed out as I am right now!! She was able to extend my reservation to 14 days AND saved me $40 a month on my storage space. Grace is an appropriate name for her because she showed me much GRACE and poise when dealing with me. This facility has a major rat infestation. I wish they had disclosed that before I moved in. I'd have stored my stuff differently; or in a different place (which is probably why they didn't tell me). I put my household goods in here, came back 2 months later to find rat feces everywhere. Two high end mattresses are ruined from the rat crap and pee. I have had a unit with Public Storage for the past few years. Did not have anywhere to put my belongings so I thought, I can put my things in here, why not? What could go wrong?? At first, the bill was fairly reasonable, around the low 100's, maybe around 103 or 104 per month. Then all of a sudden they informed me my cost was going up, and they have done this more than once. Now I'm paying $152 from $104. Not only that, if you are late on your payment, good luck trying to go through your checking account. I had to split up payments and they put a lock on my checking account, and said I have to pay with a credit card or go through the office and pay there. I then called customer service to see if I could place a payment over the phone through my checking, the rep told me I wasn't able to do that and he could ONLY take a payment through credit card. It puts me in a very inconvenient state when I try to pay the bill and they lock me out and tell me this is the only way we will allow you to do it. I will be so glad when I get rid of them at the end of the month. I should not have to jump through hoops to get a single payment taken care of. If you cannot work with customers and offer other ways of payment, then I need to let you go. Public Storage SUCKS and I am glad this will be the last payment I will make to them. From raising prices to deactivating your checking account button, don't even bother, find another storage unit and don't deal with these people. read more

If you are late one day on your rent, because the mailman was late or whatever, you are charged a late fee and automatically locked out of your unit until it is paid THAT DAY. Even if you are unaware the mail was late and you paid your bill. It is dangerous during the mornings when lawn crews empty out while they gather equipment, there are many people just walking around checking out your stuff. Lights did not work in our unit for six months, and there was a huge rat problem that destroyed much of my belongings. I will update after I find out if the insurance they require that you have (but is not included in the special price advertised) is going to cover damages. read more

The "couple" that were managing the place when I first became a customer were not at all accommodating about anything. I found Heathyr to be helpful and informative and pleasant to deal with. The management is excellent and accommodating when I asked to find a unit that would better fit me then the first assignment. They lock you out of your unit EARLY if manager is going to be away on due date as well. Online payment system can cause late payments as well using credit/debit card at site! The payment may be procesed immediately or a week later!! Beware too if paying Cash and they claim the their system down WAIT for it to come up to get the cimputer generated paper receipt!! Or they may claim later when placing your stuff up for auction you did not pay for thats not their receipt! Rent after 6 months will be raised faithfully every 3 months by 25 to 30 bucks too!!!
