El Monte Storage offered a good move-in deal, and when I went to see the unit, I received great service, and the process was very smooth. I've been renting my unit for over a year now, and have been very pleased with it. The facility is clean, very well maintained and secure. And the staff is very friendly and efficient. Also, since my unit is on the third floor, I often borrow a cart from the office to transport boxes to my unit. This process is easy--you just have to leave your drivers license at the office until you return the cart. Only once did I have to wait for a cart because they were all in use. Since then, I try to go early in the morning if I know I'll need to borrow a cart. Highly recommended!

I recommend El Monte Storage to everyone!

My boyfriend and I only had our storage here for about two months, that's as long as we lasted,…read morebefore we got the boot, (kicked out) but I just want to say Mary Helen the manager here is amazing. She really had her work cut out for her with us and she handled everything with more grace and understanding than most of us would tolerate trying to manage so many units and the bs that comes with it. We recently lost our apartment and we're living out of our black box truck right now, trying to move and keep all our things that mean a lot to us. It took us forever to get settled and honestly we know we can be a handful. We stay too late sometimes, trying to get things finished and we've even gotten injured a few times along the way trying to rush. It's been hard. I really wish we were able to continue storing our stuff here but unfortunately we're kind of big nuisances with how much stuff we have and how long it takes us to get through everything. Even with all that, Mary Helen kept her grace the whole time and treated us with compassion. This isn't a fake review or a sob story, it's real. For all the storages we've ever been to, this was the most positive experience because of her. She was patient, kind, and truly understanding. And as a side note, Mike who works there too, was always very pleasant and never made me feel like the nuisance we are. Both of them really went above and beyond for us and I won't forget that. Thank you for everything

The reason for the knock on the star - whoever I spoke with on the phone when I initially booked never said anything about price increases - showing up with a moving van I'm paying by the hour and learning if a big shift in pricing was quite stressful and felt like a bait and switch. Sergio, however, was very transparent, professional, apologetic and surprised this wasn't previously disclosed - I greatly appreciated his service.

BAIT AND SWITCH CRIMINALITY- BE WARNED - DO NOT USE THIS PLACE…read moreOnline says ground floor, you purchase it but when you're assigned the unit they send you upstairs. Manager then says I can move you but you'll be charged more...fine, I prefer a bigger space so let me move to that, price he says it's $252. Online you show that it's $186. You'll be charged another $30 but it won't be $50 more. Then let's do it online. He's typing away as I do it and they pull the same bait and switch! I say you saw me doing this in front of you and he says that's on you. I say you have the unit. He refuses to help. While there another person shows asking to get into his unit to move out and he says call the regional manager. The guy is pleading with him and he refuses to help. Of course I don't know the situation there so I don't move just wait for him to help me. He refuses. Exacerbated I say fine I'll go to my unit but there is no light bulb and the other switch doesn't work. He says we have no obligation to provide light. WHAT!?! I say I can't believe this is how you all do business I will be writing a review. He says you're bullying me and it's all on camera. WTF Called to cancel both at this point two units, which I haven't put a single item in and they refuse! These people are allowed to do business like this? Just give me straight information, I would've paid the cost if you would've been honest from the beginning and saved me a headache. NEVER DOING BUSINESS HERE ON PRINCIPLE. UNBELIEVABLE

BE VERY CAREFUL BEFORE RENTING FROM THIS STORAGE FACILITY…read more Based on our experience, I would strongly caution anyone considering storing their vehicle, trailer, or belongings at this facility. There have been multiple break-ins, and the lack of security and response from management has been extremely concerning. Our trailer was broken into and damaged while it was on the property. The door was actually drilled through and damaged in order to gain entry. What is perhaps most disturbing is that no one from the facility contacted us to tell us what had happened. No phone call. No notification. No concern. No follow-up. We were left to discover the damage ourselves. This was not an isolated incident. Vehicles were broken into and catalytic converters were stolen from an entire row of vehicles. There have also been trailers damaged and broken into and storage units burglarized. The situation raises serious questions about the facility's security and surveillance. From what we experienced, the cameras do not appear to be functioning properly, and it does not appear that anyone is regularly monitoring or even checking the camera footage. What is the purpose of having security cameras if they aren't working or being monitored when multiple break-ins are occurring? We were also told by an officer that people have been renting storage units online using false information specifically to gain access to storage properties and commit theft and vandalism. If this is occurring, the facility should be taking its security and access procedures extremely seriously. And what happens when you report a problem? In our experience, nothing. The property manager never contacted us, never followed up, and showed absolutely no concern about the fact that our property had been vandalized on the premises. No one even bothered to notify us that our trailer door had been damaged and left open after someone drilled through it and broke into our trailer. Instead of feeling like management was concerned about the safety of customers and their property, we were left with the impression that the attitude was essentially, "Your problem." The security at this facility is a serious concern. During our experience, I personally observed the employee responsible for the office/security area sitting on her cell phone and eating chips while customers were dealing with stolen and damaged property. Watching this while people are losing valuable property is incredibly frustrating and unacceptable. The prices at this facility are outrageous for what is being provided, and based on our experience, there is simply not an adequate level of security or customer service to justify the cost. A storage facility should take security seriously. When a customer's property is broken into, management should at minimum notify the customer, acknowledge what happened, document the incident, review available surveillance footage, and follow up. We received none of that. If multiple vehicles can be broken into, an entire row can have catalytic converters stolen, trailers can be vandalized, and storage units can be burglarized without customers being notified or management appearing to take meaningful action, that is a major security failure. If you are considering renting here, please do your research first. Ask very specific questions about recent break-ins, functioning cameras, whether surveillance is actively monitored, access control, and how management handles theft and vandalism. Our experience has been extremely disappointing. I would not recommend this facility to anyone who is looking for a secure place to store valuable property. If I could give zero stars, I would.
