I went to the outdoor location and the girl at the front desk was very helpful and even showed me different units. Customer service was good. Booked online so it was pretty quick and easy. BUT, i just think the location itself isn't so well kept. When i unloaded my belongings into the unit i noticed the door doesn't shut completely so it's enough under space for rodents to get in and take shelter in your stuff! I read some of the bad reviews on this location and decided to visit the location since it is so close to my parents new home. The lady behind the counter, Sara, was very welcoming and cheerful. She listened to my concern and need to find a storage unit to store some things for my parents. She thoroughly went through their unit sizes and made her recommendation. Run away from this place and go elsewhere. Alsip Public Storage is a scam with crooks taking your money and wasting your time. The price was raised 3 times in a year. I was going to get an outer unit, but there were big gaps under the door to allow rodents and bugs, so I rented an indoor unit. There is rarely a cart available to haul your items up to the 2nd or 3rd floor. The parking lot has huge potholes that they put cones over, but do not repair, making it difficult to drive to the door. I tried to move out the last day of the month, but no carts were available and the gates would lock if we took too long. I went back to move my remaining items the next morning. Again no carts available. I asked the woman in the office if I could get a cart because I'm trying to finish moving out, as I was unable to workout a cart the evening before. She told me to go around to the opposite end of the building for a cart and I will be charged for the full month because I wasn't moved out yesterday. If there had been a cart, I would have been. She didn't care. I had to drive to the far opposite side of the building, take the elevator up, then back down at the front of the opposite end of the building because the key code does not allow you to walk through the bottom floor. Then I had to drive back around to the front side of the building, get the cart, and move my things. One cart for the entire building! They make millions of dollars charging at least $100 per unit per month, and you can't even get a clear parking lot to drive in, a cart to move your things, and they steal your money when you try to move out by charging the full month's rent, even if you move out the morning of the first. read more

***STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHADY LOCATION!!!*** I wish I can give them a negative review. $1 for the first months rent is really NOT $1. First the two black women force me to get an insurance on the unit stating that if I do not get the insurance, they will NOT let me rent. They also said that I needed to by their $20 pad-lock. After all that's said and done, the first month's rent came to $39... They never told me that there's a late fee after the first 6 days of the next month, all the mentioned is that after the 6th day they charged full rent and plus the $20 late fee. I disputed the charge and the lady that rang me up said not a problem, I looked at the receipt and it was over $110.xx for the next month - the fee of $20 was included along with the $9 additional insurance charge that I declined - and signed the paperwork for. If you like getting scammed, lied to and love dealing with head ache - then this is the location for you. But please, do yourself a favor and AVOID THIS LOCATION AT ALL COST!!! read more

Do not use this place for your storage! I was here for 6 years, with no late payments...and when I decided to leave- I couldn't even get a dolly or flatbed provided for my use. Thousands of dollars paid to this shit company and this is the treatment you receive. I called the corporate office and was met with a useless representative- who did not want to make the situation right for the customer. I guess when it's all said and done, I have seen what a horrible company this is- and will stir away anyone from using this place. Killer part, even with them not being adequate in customer service, they will charge you per day you are not fully moved out- even though they are the ones making the move out difficult- that's disgusting as hell. Question is, in an indoor building with an access code needed to enter- why aren't there dollies and flatbeds able to be provided...guess the customer must pay for that too, on top of grossly disproportionate rent. Again, do not use this place- find another company! read more

Facility on 115th Street in Alsip is dirty, staff is unprofessional. They raise your storage fee without telling you and lie to your face when you confront them about it. When you sign up on line for a unit, they charge you 19.99 for a lock without asking you if you need one and when you ask them about it, they tell you that you have to use one of their locks. Public Storage is a lousy Company to do business with. Besides the hours on website say you can access your unit from 6 AM to 9 PM, but they are to cheap to fix the gates or the property, so they change the gate access hours. read more

Do not rent from Public Storage, they will raise your rates as soon as you are moved in. They are a month to month agreement, no long term contract so they can keep doing this. 5 months ago we rented a unit for $235, now 5 MONTHS later it was raised to $284 a MONTH. I am looking to move my stuff and rent elsewhere! read more

Everyone please be careful...there's a boa constrictor lingering loose in one of the outside housing units! I've called corporate to report it and no one has returned my call. Someone must have brought it into one of the units and it got loose. Be careful while in and out of your units. read more

They only get one star because I can't give negative numbers. Do not do business with this place. They are dishonest, disreputable, and dysfunctional. The place is always dirty. The elevator never works, and the automatic doors don't work half the time. The sidewalk leading into the building is all broken up, so it's hard to wheel a dolly over it without dumping your stuff off of it. They never have any carts.I lost my key and needed the lock cut off of my locker. I had to put in a formal request for the site general manager to cut the lock off. 2 weeks after I put in the request, it still had not been removed & I was paying for a locker that I could not access. Eventually my son was able to cut the lock off of the locker, which he did in full view of the cameras, and no one in the office took exception to what he was doing. It could have been anyone breaking into my locker. He went in to pay his bill one time and was told that they had discovered his locker closed but unlocked, and they had opened it to check to see if it was actually being used. Apparently he did not slide the mechanism into place before locking the lock. No one called him to tell him the locker was unlocked, nor did they put their own lock on it to keep his belongings safe. The rate they advertise has all sorts of strings attached. There are all sorts of hidden fees. the building is supposed to be climate controlled, yet it was about 85 degrees in there. When I called corporate to tell them about these things, they didn't care. Nor do they care about the fact that there are never any carts to use to move your belongings in or out. I vacated one of my lockers on the 15th of the month. Yet I still have to pay for the entire month. if I did not have so much stuff in there, requiring me to rent a truck to move it again, I would vacate my locker and move it to another facility. in theory they are cheaper than u Haul, do not actually when you pay all of their hidden fees. U Haul is a much nicer facility and actually has a loading dock that you back your truck right up to, making unloading much easier. this place is a joke. Save yourself some hassle take your stuff elsewhere. read more
