I had to rent a storage place very last minute and I have to say that this place was just wonderful. The young lady who works there - Sasha - a lovely person. She is so patient, polite and sweet. She had me checked in quickly and explained everything. The place is super clean and very secure. I love that you need a code to get in all the doors. And, Sasha changed the code after the movers were done for extra security. I'm super happy with this storage place and with their customer service. read more

Great location, friendly staff on site, and always clean. However, they've raised my rent twice in one year by a total of 76%! They give you one month's notice before the new rate goes into effect. I think they hope you just accept it and are too lazy to deal with them, but I recommend you find somewhere else to store your stuff or budget your rent to double quickly. read more

When you have to move furniture into a storage unit you hope that everything is working properly. There was no door stopper on the door to hold it open as you are trying to navigate furniture through the doorway. That would have been really helpful and really, how hard is it to replace one of those. The female who was working that day (Sept 19, 2021) could not have been ruder. She is the last person I would want to work for me. There is nothing worse than someone with an attitude. This location has had issues with the elevator several times. I have visited my storage unit about 4 times since we moved in 5 months ago to find the elevator broken down. Which as you can imagine is very inconvenient (and an increased expense with movers) to move items in and out. The elevator has been broken for about 2 weeks at this point and the manager has no ETA on when it will be fixed. I understand this is likely because of corporate red tape and not the manager, and this is still frustrating. I would give them a five star review otherwise. My husband and I worked with India, and she was absolutely amazing. She was very informative and gave great recommendations as far as what storage unit we needed to purchase based off of the things that we told her we were storaging. Every question that we asked she was patient and she answered with full knowledge. The process of renting a storage unit took a less than 20 minutes, including the tour of the storage units that we wanted. Never enough carts. Alarms go off for no reason. They keep changing the rules. Prices skyrocketing. Wish there was another place as conveniently located for us as this spot. The management sucks. The storage spot is clean, but no light inside or overhead, so a bit dim from hallway light. The elevator has been out for a couple of visits, and the normal vehicle exit has been closed for almost a year, meaning a tight turnaround and exiting through the entrance where the access box is not set-up for reaching from a vehicle. The biggest issue is the cost. I've been using the spot for about 1.5 years and just got my second increase in rental rate. Now about 70% more than when I moved in (this is not taking into account any move-in discounts). The rate I'm now being charged is 43% more than what their website advertises for the space if I were to move-in now (without any discounts). I spoke with customer service and nothing changed. (currently renting a 5x10 space and being charged $258/month -- per square foot, that's more than twice what I pay to rent a townhouse in Old Town Alexandria) read more

The good: the place seems reasonably well-kept and secure, the loading area and freight elevators make everything pretty easy for moving (though it's quite annoying having to punch in the 10 digit code every time to use it -- I imagine that's somewhat standard though?). The bad: moving out turned into a nightmare. I had movers show up at the opening time (9:30am on Sunday) -- which is posted on their website, google, and mentioned when you call them -- and I assume is the time they are actually supposed to open. The property manager didn't show up until nearly 10:00am and we didn't have access to the unit because the stairwells were locked and the elevator didn't turn on (which we initially assumed was just because the property manager didn't show). When we eventually got the property manager over he informed us the elevator was broken and that after he placed the work order someone would be there within the half hour. So after having movers wait around, not able to do anything for 30 minutes because we didn't have access (which also delayed the time the work order got put through) the entire move had to be done by stairs (the elevator still wasn't operating by the time the move finished so who knows if it works at this point). There was no acknowledgement of the problems caused and no apology. Also, I imagine it's standard industry practice, but be forewarned that they don't prorate -- you pay for the full month even if you moved out on the first day. read more

Her idea of customer service is yelling at me, "there's nothing she can do," and locking the doors to the office so basically nobody could go in without her approval. Deceptive business practices. Public Storage took over the EZ Storage we've been using for a year without issue. As soon as they came in, the issues started. You have to add their insurance when you sign their agreement. There is no option to decline. I went back in to decline insurance to avoid the extra $15 charge. Then, they sent another agreement to sign, which apparently re-enrolled me in their insurance without notice or confirmation. They have so far refused to refund me even a dollar of that money. They know exactly what they're doing and it isn't right. Stay away. read more

The location is very clean and easily accessible. My starting date for storage was right after the pandemic was emerging in the news and the staff at Public Storage were professional and courteous and efficient. The only reason I am not giving five stars is because it was difficult to find the moving carts and they would have been helpful on a few occasions. Overall a great storage facility. read more

Terrible customer service at this location. Find another storage company. I'm one day away from my move and decided to go with a nearby company - due to the rude young woman who sits at the desk in the trailer. I believe her name is Jasmine. She was not helpful and stated that she was unable to show me the size of the unit in-person to ensure I had enough space. I obviously booked everything online and needed to know if I made the right choice. Not only this, I asked if she could share where and how to access the building and parking for my move and movers. She literally pointed to a window and stated "there's only three buildings" and rattled off the building numbers carelessly. Most recently, I called to cancel my reservation after going with a neighboring storage company who showed me the unit in person and even walked me around the location to get me familiar. When I asked to cancel over the phone, she said "Emhem, I'll cancel it" and hung up in my face. Extremely unprofessional. As a Director of Marketing and someone who has a background in reputation management- she should be addressed immediately. Avoid! Absolutely non-responsive to serious concerns. In-laws came into town from Syracuse to pick up things from storage in basement unit during access hours, but after office closed. The elevator was not working. The door to the stairway was locked. There was no note. I left several voicemails, and the posted 1-800 corporate number took me back to the same voice mailbox of the closed office. Nobody ever returned my calls, and when I emailed a couple of days later, I got a non-apology and some lame excuse about the gate-code being re-set - which wasn't even the problem. When I went back the next morning, the elevator was still broken. I asked for something to keep the stairway door open and they asked if I had anything with me in my car to hold it open - seriously? It's not my property. I never heard back from customer service and nobody ever offered to address the problem. It's so expensive - $150 a month for a small space, and no service - and I couldn't even get to my unit when I really needed to. What's the point? read more

Friendly, helpful folks at the desk. We got one unit, then realized we needed a second one - and the addition was fairly painless. When I consolidated back down to one unit - again, it was easy to get through the process. You need a code to get in AND out of the gate. And to go up and down on the elevator - which I suppose is better for security, but was a pain because our storage units were on two separate floors. My only complaint is that you have to buy one (or in my case two) of their locks which cost $18 and are pretty much useless for any other purpose than the doors at a Public Storage facility! read more

I've got no complaints about the service that they provide but obviously you are going to pay a premium for it being so close to Old Town. Honestly, I would have given the place 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that they raise the rental rates every 6 months due to "increased operating costs".
