I'm giving an updated review. For over 25 years you guys made the best sandwiches ever! As a mom of a UNR grad student. This evening after work I treated myself to a day before Mother's Day dinner. I went to order my usual 14A Sub whole on wheat bread. When I asked for wheat bread I was told that you don't sell wheat bread anymore. When I got home with my sub sandwich. There was only one slice of the meat, hardly any cheese, veggies & your signature mayo. For 20 years you guys would pile on everything thick that went on a 14A. When you pile it on thick, you have a signature sub full of flavor that makes people wanting to come back for more. Tonight was the saddest looking sub sandwich I had ever seen from Pub n Sub. Too often we forget that Pub N' Sub is just down the road from us. I called ahead and ordered the Tree Hugger - Garlic & olive oil base, sundried tomatoes, spinach, feta cheese, walnuts, red onion. I thought the walnuts were interesting, and was not disappointed when we got into our first slice. The dough had a good crispiness too it, if not the biggest rise. I was pretty surprised at the price, though. After tip that single pizza brought us nearly to $30. At nearly $5-6 more than others, you gotta ask if it's really worth the extra cost. I'm not totally sure if the quality warrants the extra price, but I think that's for each person to determine for themselves. We certainly can't get a pizza like the Tree Hugger anywhere else, so if we're craving that exact pizza, we know where to go! read more

This is the quintessential area "in-spot". Neighborhood families enjoy the great food and drink by day while the local college students have created a popular PLP, by night. I'm told this place has literally been an institution since 1974. That speaks volumes. I think I'd best described it as simplicity. Nothing fancy, just great wings, pizza and simple subs. Subs like the "po 'boy" or "hero" sandwiches we made with cold cuts in the kitchen, years ago. Some of the food items might seem a bit pricey, but there's value for the buck. The beer prices seem reasonable. The pub attracts a colorful caliber of people ultimately giving the place it's special character. We split a Hickory Smoked Turkey sub for about $10 and these fantastic Zucchini sticks for $8. From pool tables to outdoor tables in their beer garden Pub N' Sub is back-woods cozy in residential Reno. A comfortable venue to watch sports or just kick back and unwind. Good ol days, I have so many memories here! Dined here today 7/15/23 with friends for beer and for appetizers. Summer nights are my all time favorite and even better spending it with friends. Their menu has a variety of options from Pizza to sandwiches to burgers and wings. We opted in for a sandwich and wings. Variety of drinks on tap as well. This is an older pub but a gem, indoor and outdoor seating with my favorite backyard seating. I've been here for team building, football games, hang out spot. Everyone was friendly and prompt. Their sandwiches hit the spot after a long day of skiing! Simple is they key! Get the turkey sandwich with everything & you got yourself a solid sando. The dressing they add is delicious. I recommend adding pepperoncinis & swiss cheese :) It's also quite large so you can split it with someone or save the half for another time! I also tried the turkey & salami, which was okay, didn't really vibe with the salami taste. I think you're better off with just the turkey. Two problems: the neighbors have a ton of dog shit in their yard, which is unappetizing when you walk by, and unsavory on a warm day. And sadly, this is probably some of the worst pizza in town. My teenager didn't bother finishing his cheese pizza. Left more than half of it in the box, and he's not that kind of pizza eater. But if you want a pitcher of beer and a game of pool and you don't live far, it's almost a great spot. read more

We came here about 5pm on Saturday the 5th of May in part to avoid the Cinco de Mayo crowds. But we have also wanted to try this place for a while. It is located in a residential area primarily consisting of houses that are rented to UNR students. There is street parking on two sides of the building which is located on the corner of Ralston and West 10th street. The building is a two story brick building that is both cute and charming. To the left of the front door there's an outdoor wooden patio with tables. The interior is rustic with wood covering most of the walls and flooring and it has simple picnic tables with red and white table cloths. There is a counter for ordering subs, a small bar offering draft and bottled beer and a small counter window for ordering and picking up pizzas. For us, this place reminds us of a combination of Rennie's landing on the U of O campus and JJ's pizza a little further south. We each decided to order a 10 inch pizza so that we could get what we wanted and have a little bit left over. You can build your own pizza or pick one of the options they have on the menu. The prices seem comparable to other non-chain pizza joints. Our pizzas arrived in a timely fashion and looked great. Everything was very tasty and we had to stop ourselves from eating the whole pie. We also noticed signs for a backyard area that we did not explore. Overall we enjoyed it very much and we will be back! read more

Was here in November , and was recommended by a local, fried pickles are fire and delicious a must have , the onion rings were battered good and real tasty. We decided to grab a spot outside in the back which is great because it was a nice sunny day and it wasn't noisy so you can hear when people are talking. The pizza took a little bit. It was hot and delicious the crust was chewy and airy which you want. Also it was nice and cheesy. It's a great place to hang out with friends and get some good food. I recognize that that Pub N' Sub is a college bar, so my expectations were not very high. But, the pizza was actually really good. You order at the bar and then they call your name to get your food. You then pick up yourself from the window, and take to your table. The outside seating area was really nice and great for a large group. However, a lot of stars were lost over the fact that the bathrooms are right by the kitchen and they smelled so terribly. The smell coming from the bathrooms made the whole hall smell like an unwashed toilet. That made the idea of eating the food pretty of gross. So, if they took care of that I'd be willing to give this place some stars back. read more

Came here with the boys for some lunch, the atmosphere was incredible, the wait for food was rather short. I got a Cheesesteak and lemme tell you, coming from Philly, I got some high expectations, this met most if not all of them, THEY EVEN USED CHEESE WIZ!!! And properly too! Covid safety precautions are firmly in place - I respect The front door is locked and they don't let you in. Menus are posted on the patio table, with the phone number and instructions. Give them a call to place your order and they bring it out to you. You pay for it when they bring it out. The delivery peeps were cheerful and light hearted. We just love the garden out back. We braved the cold (was 45 degrees tonight when we left) and we are so glad we did. They have outdoor heaters and a fire pit that is sweet!! We were toasty and comfortable despite the outdoor temp. The pizza was reportedly as delicious as usual (our group ate it all). I had a salad and it was awesome - grilled chicken salad minus the onions and the olives. Food took a long time to come out but that was anticipated as the place was packed already by the time we arrived at 5:30. Steve (owner I think) was really awesome and went out of his way to ensure we had enough seating for our large party (12 people). Pub n sub is where I associate most of my undergraduate nights with my friends, it has a such a college bar vibe and I am about it, with that being said it doesn't mean its not for others or not good for different occasions! My go-to pizza Is the "tree hugger" which comes with, garlic & olive oil base, sun dried tomatoes, spinach, feta cheese, walnuts, and red onion. Sounds kinda different? but its crazy how each topping compliments the other and just meshes together into one harmonious delicious pizza. Of course, if you want to select your own toppings, you can! Typing this review is making me hungry and crave pizza. Their pizza is always on point, never had a bad experience. On Monday and Fridays their pizza is half off to dine in. A pro tip, on Fridays it can be busy and take a while for you pizza, so I've placed my order on the phone and by the time I arrive its ready. The prices of the drinks are reasonable and also have happy hour deals daily. During the summer, they do have a backyard with tables that is open for customers to hangout and chill. The people that work there are always super cool and friendly. In fact, one of the guys that makes the pizza there, Spencer always seems to remember me when I go and makes conversation, so it definitely adds to the experience. There's some TVs for sports and a pool table in the middle of the place. The staff was friendly and quick to take our order. There is a large variety in the menu that goes from sandwiches to pizza and wings. I ordered a meatball pizza which took a little long to come out, but was very good. The pizza was cooked to perfection, not burnt or undercooked. The meatballs added a good flavor to the pizza and made the pizza very enjoyable. Pub N Sub... a concept combining two of my favorite things in the world! So why did it take me so long (7 years) to finally get in here? I don't know, but I'm sure glad I did! A friendly staff, warm atmosphere, big tables with red checked cloths, a menu filled with great hot and cold sandwiches, pizzas made on homemade dough, and wings and all your fried pubby favorites spelled home sweet home for me! Add in a sweet selection of frosty cold beverages, TVs and a constant stream of great locals pouring through the door, and it becomes clear why this place is a true local favorite. Tucked away up on a hill in a residential part of town near the university, the location is really cool. The drive up takes you on a windy road passed all the Greek houses and offers a nice view of the city. The restaurant is surrounded by homes, and if I were a college student, this is where I'd want to be. As I pulled into the parking spot, I noticed a guy loading 20+ to-go orders into his car and some huge sacks of flour being carried into the restaurant. It felt right, and as I came to grab lunch, I walked in, noticed the big fresh loaves of bread and slicer on the counter, glanced at the menu and ordered a "half" #1 sub, which is a 9" roll with prosciutto, ham, salami, cappicola, and pepperoni, and cheese. I had mine with the "regulars" aka tomato, lettuce, onion, mayo, oil & vinegar, S&P, and oregano. Mmmmm. The roll was soft but dense enough to hold up to everything inside, and the meats were sliced fresh, and the veggies were crunchy and delicious. It took me a while to get through the "half" sandwich, which left me very satisfied. The hardest part of this visit was trying to do my work while listening to everyone around me order things! They all sounded and looked sooooo good! I saw a huge pizza come out to two dudes at the table next to me that looked amazing (all sorts of meat with just the right amount of crisp put on em), an order of garlic fries were demolished by a couple a little bit later, and last was this guy that ordered a hot chicken sub that made me hungry all over again. Here's a suggestion for ya Pub N Sub! Other places have mug clubs, but I think you need a SUB CLUB! Pub N' Sub has always been an esteemed place to go - for both families and college students. It is one of the most welcoming places in Reno, and the best place to spend your summer evenings. Steve, the manager, was so helpful and flexible throughout the entire planning process! He gave wonderful suggestions and mentioned the most popular menu items. The night of the event, the weather was pretty nasty. We had reserved tables for the backyard, but Steve was so willing to move our party inside. Above average pizza and subs with great character. I visited this local establishment on a Tuesday just after 4pm. The reason I know the time is because Pub n' Sub has a great deal: "From 4-6 pm 10 in. 1 topping pizza. The time you buy is the price you pay + $1" (taken from their website; visit here to see their other daily specials!) Since I was getting such a good deal on a fresh pizza, I decided to try on of their titular subs. Food: B I ordered one pepperoni pizza and the #4 sub- roast turkey, salami , and cheese. The pizza was perfectly fine, actually above average. Plenty of pepperoni and cheese and the crust was very good. It wasn't too thin or too thick. The crust had a nice crunch and airiness. The crust was my favorite part of the pizza. Pub n' Sub also offered ranch, free of charge! (Huge +1 in my book; I think ranch is essential for pizza.) I ordered the #4 in a "half" size on white (wheat is unfortunately extra; only by 15¢ but still a bummer to me.) The sizes of the subs aren't on the menu so to my surprise, this sub was bigger than I expected- 9 or 10 inches! I chose provolone as my cheese, and added lettuce, onion, oregano, salt, oil, vinegar, and mayo. I really love pickles but unfortunately they cost extra, a big let down. Pickles are an essential submarine topping so it's a shame it's an additional cost ($1.35 for a full size). The sandwich was simple but very satisfactory. I'd say their bread was the best aspect of the sandwich. It tasted fresh and had a nice raise. Atmosphere: B+ The woman who took my order and made my sandwich was so nice! Quite professional, polite, and friendly. The sandwich didn't take long to make, as you'd expect. I was able to eat half of my sandwich while I was waiting for my pizza to be made, baked, and boxed. I'd say the whole wait took 15 minutes. Not too bad, especially for a fresh pizza. Thankfully it wasn't busy so I didn't have to wait longer.
