One of the managers reached out to apologize for my previous experience and my next visit was a much more pleasant one. There is the caveat that I ordered carry-out instead of dining in this time and it was a much more seamless process. I placed my order on their website (which is powered by Toast) and it was ready perfectly in time with my designated pickup time. My order came out ready and hot and all the pizzas and garlic bread came out great. In retrospect, I don't know that I would've ordered the garlic bread because I was expecting more of a garlic breadstick situation instead of a sauceless cheese pizza, but that's more of my own fault for not looking at any pictures first. All in all, it was a much more positive experience and I appreciate the management for working so hard to fix any road bumps in service. read more

On a recent, cold December evening, a friend and I decided to take a break to grab a quick bite to eat and agreed on Pub Dog in Columbia. We seated ourselves and the server came over promptly to take our drink orders while we perused the menu. The offerings are simple - a few appetizers, salads, and a wide variety of personal sized pizzas with numerous topping combinations. Our drinks arrived quickly we placed our order. My friend tried one of their craft beer offerings, Black Dog, listed as an Irish Stout, and mentioned it was good, but probably not memorable, lacking a depth and smoothness when compared to the classic Guiness, but drinkable and for a local product it was better than most craft brewery attempts at stout varieties.   We chose to split a Caesar's salad and chose the Spinach Pizza and Dog Pound Pizza for our main course. As we waited, numerous other staff came by to check on us verging on the edge of being annoying. While friendly in their approach, it seemed like a bit of overkill considering we had our drinks and were waiting for our pizzas. The place was less than half full, so they were probably just trying to be attentive and friendly. The salad and Dog Pound Pizza arrived soon after but there was no sign of my Spinach Pizza. If you'd like the salad before the pizza, I'd suggest you let them know in advance. After a few minutes we mentioned it to one of the servers checking on us, they went to check and returned saying it would be another 5 minutes or so - I think they forgot when they put the order into the kitchen.   The salad portion was quite large and was quite good for a Caesar salad and frankly, better than a lot of fancier establishments, plus there was enough for leftovers. We were a little disappointed with the pizzas themselves. The toppings were plentiful, maybe to a fault, and tasty but there was something lacking. For a specialty pizza place I would have expected a better crust - for both pizzas it was a bit soggy and difficult to lift off the plate for a proper bite. We ended up eating with a fork. Heartier appetites would finish the individually sized pizzas, but we had enough to take home for lunch the next day.   The atmosphere is sports bar like; the service prompt, courteous, and maybe a bit over-attentive; the portions and toppings generous; the price is extremely fair - a decent choice if you're in the neighborhood, but not quite a foodie destination establishment unless perhaps you're a beer enthusiast. read more

Very solid bar with a few things that distinguish it from the average drinky place. 1. The silly two-small-mugs thing they do where every drink comes as two smaller drinks. I just think that's fun lmao. And their beers ARE quite good. I'm a fan of the peach dog and pinneapple ale. 2. Their pizza. It's good. Real good. Can't speak for the other parts of the menu but their pizzas have never disappointed. Even the weird ones. The last time I was there I tried the pickle pizza, expecting to be disgusted. I was not. My new favorite place in Columbia. I'm a sucker for a good theme. Pub Dog is, surprise surprise, dog themed. The entire menu is named after dogs or something related to dogs (I.e. Unleashed IPA). The servers are friendly and have a good attitude. I looooove the Alaskan Husky pizza. It has a lotta cheese (read: good pull). The huge selling point here is how they serve drinks. When you order one of their drinks it comes split in two glasses. Regardless if you order water or mixed drinks, you're gonna be double fisting something here. And you can mix and match! The Puggle and Pawloma are some of my favorites. But a word of caution: it's easy to want to try everything out of curiosity, just pace yourself because you'll be mixing different types of alcohol and you might feel it if you're not careful. read more

I don't even like beer, but I love their raspberry beer and chocolate beer, and they always have great mixes too. Prices are phenomenal especially in this economy and you always get two beers for the price of one. The outside is actually dog friendly. The staff are nice and able to help assist with allergies (they even have dairy free cheese if you need that) along with helping you figure out what beer to order. If you like dogs then you'll enjoy the decor and fun atmosphere of Pub Dog. Came here to have dinner with family. There is a lot of noise which makes it hard to have a conversation unless the person is right next to you or you yell, so rest your voice before going ;) I tried the Froggy Dog which had a Dijon mustard base and toppings on top. The mustard mellowed a little when cooked (you can get the same mustard with the soft pretzels) but catches up with you by the end of the pie. Make sure you really like mustard first. Pizza is a thicker dough crust, but soft and easy to eat. Salads are also an option and are large portions. You won't leave hungry! read more

So this place for sure.. has potential. I was recommended this spot by a friend of mine, and we both went for Thursday Night Football. Their food, pizza is their specialty in my opinion. I had their BBQ chicken, was good. It's one of my favorite kinds of pizza, so I was pleased with it. Outside of that, their staff... can be a little uh, twisted. The staff this particular night were pretty young - maybe mostly under 35 and not gonna lie, it was annoying in the beginning of our stay, it was hard to get the attention of staff due to behind the bar drinking. Cool place! We were here for Monday night trivia with a couple of friends more local to Columbia. The trivia was great, but the real star was our server! I wish I could remember her name, but she was super awesome! The beer was great, and they had a great variety to choose from. You could also mix flavors, like their hard iced tea and blueberry beer, for one example. Very tasty opportunities here! The food itself was also delicious! We split a few pizzas across the table, and each one of them was tasty. Nobody had a bad slice! There's really not much else to tell, honestly. I've been to this establishment many times, and I love it. The beers and pizzas are great and if you're lucky, they'll treat you to a shot of GM. I love the interior, it's this great dark old timey atmosphere with modern conveniences. I recently went by at lunch with some coworkers. Pub Dog is a good old reliable sports bar with a friendly canine theme throughout. The main focus here: pizzas and beer - great for chilling while catching up with friends or watching sports on the many screens around the whole place. In addition to the pizzas, there are a few appetizers and salads, including big pretzels. The pretzels aren't anything stellar, but they're an okay nosh while you wait for pizza. They don't salt the pretzels for some reason, but they give a little side of coarse salt so you can dip to your preference. The mustard is grainy and potent. For an extra $1.50, you can get some cheese sauce which is alright. The family got three pizzas - my wife opted for the Wing Dog (with buffalo sauce, chicken, and ranch dip) and found it to be okay. I got the pleasantly spicy Cajun Dog which came with bits of spicy chicken and sausage, hot peppers, and onions. I'd get this again. Child #1 and Child #2 split a "Pupperoni" pizza and demolished it. They brew all their own beer and they have all the basic styles that you might want. You like IPAs? get your hops on. More of a malty or stout kinda person? Sweet. They have it. None of the beers are particularly memorable or going to blow you away, but none are bad either - they're good easy-drinking beers. Whether you drink beer, soda, or water, it will come in two medium glasses. Always two. I don't know why, but it's their thing. The wait staff is friendly but busy. They get food out to you as quick as they can. It's been many years, but I know that if you treat your waitstaff well, sometimes they would opt to do a shot of Grand Marnier with your table (apparently a favorite of the owner's). Don't quote me on that; I just know they used to do that and it never hurts to be extra kind to the servers. Everything is pretty A-OK and worth a visit at least once. I ordered a black dog, which is a very smooth stout beer. It comes in two small mugs instead of a large mug. Makes the table look like a party by the end of the night. Next, let's talk about the pretzels. They were nice and fresh. They place the salt on the side so you can add as much as you want, and the same goes for the cheese and the mustard. But if you order at the bar, you can individually be billed, making it more seamless and smooth of a process when heading out. We select this spot for a work lunch, and it gets the job done every time. Every time I've been, there has never been a wait. There's a bar in the main area and booths completely behind that, separated by a wall. TV's line your vision in the booths, so you have things to look at. Great lighting. Servers are enthusiastic and prompt to help. Additionally, every drink (including soft drinks) arrives by twos. So if you order a sprite, two mugs of sprite are coming out. The first time I came here, I gave away one of my beers because I didn't know this. The pretzel is good, however, the salt comes on the side and it gets hard fairly quickly. The cheese is from another world, it is so good; I'd just recommend eating it quickly, before it's not soft and hot anymore. 7.5/10 The pineapple beers were some of the best beers I've had in a while. I'm not a beer person, so the fact that I could tolerate dipping on two of them says something. My coworker also thinks highly of the raspberry. 9/10 The dog pound pizza comes with chicken, sausage, pepperoni and bacon. The pizza comes out at the perfect temperature- you don't have to wait 10 minutes to avoid burning yourself or the cheese sliding off the pizza. The crust is seasoned TO THE GODS, and is noticeable with each bite of the pizza. I'm not a fan of overwhelming tomato sauce, but pubdog got the ratio completely right, in addition to their sauce being delicious. 10/10 read more

The glasses are about 8 ounces if I had to guess so $16 ounces of beer for $6, fairly standard. To eat, we started with the garlic bread which was like a sauceless garlic cheese pizza with a side of marinara but was honestly good and came out fast and hot. This has been around for a long time, but it goes to show how much of Columbia I haven't explored. Pub Dog is a staple in the area, and definitely has the vibe of a neighborhood bar. It's pretty spacious too, and has an outdoor area! You see a bunch of bottles hooked up to these dispensers behind the bar so they come out like draft beer, it's pretty cool! Speaking of, they have great deals on their beers, giving 2 mugs at one time and letting you mix and match the variety as you please. I know I tried like 3 of them, but don't ask me which kinds... I'm not a beer expert yet :). But I know I preferred the light one over the dark one! As for the food.... pizza. PIZZA. My friends told me to get the pizza, and my gosh I'm so glad they did. You get a personal size, and it comes pretty quickly! I got the Hawaiian, and it was... simply delicious. Average sized crust, but it was flavorful and pleasant! Unsure how I went YEARS Checking in & failing to review Pub Dog, as it's a staple favorite of ours- What I love about Pub Dog is the huge selection of cheap, but delicious beer; their offering excellent all-year round base beers & seasonal specialties- & if that wasn't enough....their 'gimmick/promotion' of creating beer combination possibilities- This particular visit, I was craving my go-to Unleased & Black Dog, but our waitress was super friendly about letting me taste some seasonal spin-off combinations before deciding. I also love the personal artisan pizzas; we've pretty much run through the entire menu in our years of visiting, and there isn't a bad pie; our favorites are Mr. Green Jeans, Atomic Dog, Fox & Hound, & Froggy Doggy. About 10'' each, all are always reliably topped w.ample ingredients, bold season flavoring, and have perfectly charred fire grilled fluffy but crispy crusts. We added on an order of pretzels on this visit. I came here with my boyfriend on a Friday night. We got the garlic sticks to share as an appetizer. I got the Alaskan Husky pizza, which has no tomato sauce. We both agreed that the garlic sticks were amazing! They had so much flavor, and I honestly liked them better than my pizza. That being said, the Alaskan Husky was a solid white pizza, but I wish I had asked if they could add a few more toppings to it, such as pepperoni or sausage. Next time I visit, I'll make sure to ask if they can add that (and I'll likely update this review too). Overall, this is a solid choice for a yummy and filling personal pizza. Service is friendly and quick. They work as a team so you are never waiting for anything you need. I love the white pizza (Alaskan Husky) but you really cannot go wrong with any of the very reasonably priced pizzas. The salads are also very fresh. The beer is all their brand and it's decent. Although my visit was very brief, I enjoyed my 45 minutes at Pub Dog. Our visit was brief because we grabbed a couple of beverages while waiting to meet our friends at another nearby location. To be perfectly honest, I would have preferred to stay at Pub Dog rather than going to the other location. ;) First, I will love anything that is associated with doggies. Second, all of the bartenders were very social and quite funny. Also, they were very well-knowledgeable of various beers offered. While I went with double margaritas (so, I guess that I technically had more than a couple of beverages), I was pleased to see that the pub has a very extensive selection of beers on tap. The bar had a bit of an old school flair with a touch of modernization. Although I did not eat anything, the bar's patrons looked quite content with their food. It seems like pizza, many of which had canine-based names, is the way to go here. If I'm in the Columbia area again, I hope to make another stop at Pub Dog. Hopefully, I can try more of what the bar/pub has to offer. read more
