Should have got his name! But I'm pretty sure he's the only one their. Awasome and fast service! Everywhere else it's about 50$ but saw a yelp special for $40. The special is for smaller cars but since I called ahead of time he allowed me to use the yelp special. I told him i didn't have a lot of time I can always come back tomorrow but instead he told me not to worry he would only need 15mins. Not only was he fast but had a great attuide and just good energy! Thanks again and will for sure come back here if I need a smog check. read more

I came on a Sunday and there's was no wait whatsoever. Paul was friendly and helped me out quickly, letting me know I could sit and relax while he preformed the test. The test overall took about 15 minutes so I was in and out pretty quickly. read more

Glad I found PT smog. Friendly business manner, best price in Long Beach. $40.00 test and a reasonable certificate fee. His equipment is up to date and my smog test and re-test were quick both times. Paul says he is just starting out, I can see a long future for his business. I will be recommending anyone who asks about Smog testing to him. read more

The PT Smog shop is located in a small fenced auto plaza across the street from the 76 gas station - look for the yellow sign. The reviews are all on point. Paul gets you in and out in record time. Paul tries to save you $$ if you pay with cash. He is friendly, courteous and a genuinely nice human being. Go to his shop. And if you are lucky, you may even hear Milli Vanilli playing on the stereo! read more

I messaged PT smog through yelp two hours before the listed closing time asking for a quote. Paul replied within minutes, saying it would cost $40 cash for the smog check with certificate, no appointment necessary. I went in and it only took about 10 minutes for everything! Paul was very friendly and even offered me a cold water bottle while I waited. It's sorta hidden, but not hard to find. It's next to the Mexican restaurant, in the back left behind the parking lot. I definitely recommend this place for your smog check! read more

Came in here looking for get my Volvo smog. So I yelp the closest affordable place near me in LB and PT Smog showed up. So I figured I give this place a shot. Surprisingly they are open 7 Days a Week !!! Paul the owner was really nice, professional, and straight forward. He beat everyone's price by 10-20 bucks. The shop is kinda hidden but it's all the way in the back you can't miss him. There's plenty of street parking. Within 20 minutes my smog was done and I was on my way. This was one of the best, or the best, smog experiences I've had. As a woman I hate having to visit the mechanic for anything. I came to PT Smog because they were open when others were closed. Then the price was about what I expected to pay, in fact a little less, and the guy who I believe was the owner (I forgot to get his name. But after glancing at a few comments, I'm assuming he's the owner and his name is Paul) was really nice and sociable. So even if my car didn't pass smog he wasn't the type to make me feel uncomfortable, wondering if he somehow caused the car to fail the test lol. On top of that, the process was fast and smooth, with him also offering me a place to sit, bottled water, etc. I mean hopefully I won't have to go back soon, but I'll definitely go there if necedad, and refer others :) read more

Great place to go to get your required SMOG test done, if you live near downtown LBC. Like getting…read moredocuments notarized, the process is heavily regulated by the state, but unlike a notary, it looks like a SMOG testing center can charge what they want. So the $40 out the door (including the mandatory $8.25 fee for the certificate) is a great price. I actually found a coupon from smogtips.com for $29.95 for this space, but once you add in the extras, it came out the same...so the tech didn't even take it. The $40 is listed clearly, and it seems like it would be the same for minivans and small SUVs as well (other places seem to have extra surcharges for that). Like others said, it's easy to drive in if you are next, but if somebody is getting tested, you would need to drive into the auto repair shop driveway right after and walk back to the garage to get in line. You can only enter going South on Long Beach Blvd (since Long Beach Blvd is a divided road). There is a small waiting room with a TV showing a local station. Once our car got hooked up, it took about 15 minutes to complete. They take credit cards, and will give you a computerized Vehicle Inspection Report. Now I just need to wait for the electronic submission to be recorded at the DMV, so I can renew my registration on-line. Conclusion: the price is good, and quick once you get started. We'll come back to this place in 2 years.

Yelp was correct: their $40 price is on the low end of standard (they have a coupon on their website, but turns out I didn't actually need it to get that price), the guy working there (who I think may have also been the owner) was super friendly, and I was in and out in 10 minutes. My only complaint: they really need a better sign directing traffic - they have a big sign out in front, that points into their one-car garage, so if someone else is already getting a smog check (as was the case when I got there), it is completely non-obvious where to go. You actually turn into the following drive-way, which looks like it leads into a car-wash, and then park around the back of the building. Their sign out front really needs to tell people that. Once I figured out where I was going, though, super quick and easy.
