Protouch installed our new heater 18 months ago and we were pleased with the service and price. When we recently saw it seriously leaking and sent Lance a photo, his response was prompt and informed - albeit bad news for us. He guessed that our pool water was so acidic it had destroyed the equipment and told me to take a water sample in for testing at Leslies so that we could know if the warranty would be honored. When acidity was off the charts, he offered to send his team to help us right the chemistry. While the whole situation (we had to empty the pool which had also filled with copper stripped from the equipment by the acidic water) was disastrous, ProTouch hand held us thru it. Lance found a replacement part so we did not have to buy an entirely new heater, and they are now managing the routine cleaning and maintenance -- which our unqualified (unlicensed, uninsured) pool cleaner had done so ineptly and ultimately at great cost. read more

ProTouch installed a RayPak pool heater for us earlier this month. It was somewhat unusual since they had to remove part of a fence to move into place. At the same time, I had them install a new backwash valve on they Hayward DE filter we have. The professionalism, competence, and value they offer is beyond most other service companies of any kind. They had to re-plumb the water as well as gas lines and did a beautiful job. They went above and beyond what I expected and charged less than any other company wanted for the job. I had to leave town unexpectedly for a couple of weeks and when I came home my pool and hot tub were green with bad algae problems. I called ProTouch based on their yelp reviews and Glenn was able to come over the same day to assess the problem. He came back and cleaned the pool filter which was extremely dirty, treated the pool with all the right chemicals and within 24 hours the pool was clear and beautiful again. In addition, Glenn reprogrammed the pump to optimize performance and reduce electrical consumption, advised to turn off solar hearing during the winter to save energy, and even reinstalled the decorative pool light cover that I had sitting on the table - all at no additional charge. Another thing worth mentioning is that after he was done with cleaning the filter, the backyard was spotless with no mess anywhere, which is more than I can say about the previous pool service companies I have used. ***HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY*** We had our one and only pool light go out last year in the summer time. I had a "pool" electrician come by from another company (will not name) and he said the entire wiring was rotted and needed to be replaced, which encompassed drilling out concrete and running a new line. This was looking at $1,000 or more to do. Simply not in our families budget. We were so upset we decided to live without the light for over a year. Eventually I decided it was time to look back into this, and started asking around, eventually just asking our pool cleaner if he knew of anyone. I also had our pool heater stop allowing our hot tub to increase in temperature and the outlet stopped working for our outdoor lighting. Basically our recently bought house with the pool was a bit of a mess. I was referred to ProTouch Pool Services from my pool cleaner and they came highly recommended by him. I am always hesitant about pool services in general (see example above) however, Glenn called me almost immediately after my pool cleaner had texted me back saying he reached out to Glenn. Glenn came out the very next day, looked over the pool light situation and immediately recognized the problem. He also went above and beyond to repair the GFI outlet where we had run a 250ft extension cord from the house to keep the sprinkler system working.Glenn recommended a new housing/light (which the other electricians and pool company said was not the problem) He also replaced the touch pad on the spa heater the same day he came out to evaluate the pool light. Glenn was beyond helpful, always available to share the information. He called, texted and kept me in the loop throughout everything and before he fixed anything provided reasonable costs (with labor/tax included). He even got out to install the new light a day before we were scheduled which made us very happy. We now have a new light, functioning LED in the pool , hot tub back in action, and outdoor lighting up and running, and it's never looked better. I can't say enough great things about ProTouch or Glenn in particular. They are super professional, honest, straight forward, and won't charge extra for anything. They won't try and upsell you to make more $, they will give you the options and recommendations and let you make the decision. I had almost a dozen pool contractors out to our home to isolate several issues we were having with our spa and pool. No one could figure it out!! We lived with a draining spa, no heater and no jets since we moved in for a total of 4 years because no one could figure it out. As an anniversary present to my husband I decided to try again. I worked with Lance at ProTouch to replace a heater from the Jurassic Era, in an ancient but working pool at our new house in Mira Mesa. ProTouch also installed a salt system so that we could move on from traditional chlorine. Lance helped me understand the pool components and what would be needed to make everything work, as I have never owned a pool before and was pretty lost, aside from watching a lot of YouTube videos on water chemistry and whatnot. ProTouch also simplified my equipment, as there was a lot of "junk" from prior removed components just taking up space and adding to the confusion. Their prices were very fair, and the service was above and beyond. I appreciated Lance fielding my myriad of questions. I would not only work with ProTouch again, I would *only* work with ProTouch for pool equipment matters in the future. Then I had them come out for a service call to fix up some leak and flow issues that I couldn't handle, which they did quickly and for a reasonable fee. Kevin Bowman from Protouch pools inspected our pool last week. My wife and I are in escrow on a new property and wished to know about the condition of the pool. First, we are not pool people. Neither of us have ever had a pool before and we don't know anything about how to maintain a pool/spa. Kevin arrived promptly and spent a good 2 hrs with us at the property. He was extremely thorough. He identified all the problems, tested everything, and showed me how to operate the system. He also answered all my questions (I had a lot of questions) in layman terms which was extremely helpful given my lack of experience with pools I felt that he was honest in terms of what may need to be replaced and what could wait. He presented options for when something may be nearing the end of life, gave approximate values for costs, and differentiated when something was merely a cosmetic issue as opposed to a maintenance issue that could lead to problems with the system. I was thrilled that he pointed out what maintenance could be performed by myself, rather than a pool professional. I was very satisfied with the service and support that he provided. He even suggested that we give him a call once we move in and he would provide a rundown on what I should be doing to keep the pool operating in good order. I'll definitely take him up on this. Very satisfied with the service. He also followed up on the inspection with a very thorough written inspection report. We made a good choice with Protouch. read more

When my wife and I decided to convert our pool to salt water, I consulted Yelp to find the highest-rated company to do this work. Protouch Pool Services came out great, with almost 5 stars, and we decided to hire them. We had them install a Pentair salt cell, and a new pool lamp. Afterwards, however, when we tried to change the settings on the cell, the buttons did not seem to work properly. I contacted Protouch Pool Services about this, and asked whether somebody could come by to demonstrate its use. In spite of multiple calls and email messages (I event sent a video) no one from Protouch Pool Services came by. We then had another pool company come by to inspect the cell. This company confirmed the cell was defective, and recommended contacting Pentair. We did, and Pentair issued a work order for yet another company. This company came by, confirmed the cell was defective, and replaced it. Things have been running fine since then. Needless to say, we are disappointed in Protouch Pool Services' customer service. I'm still giving Protouch Pool Services two stars because we did not have any issues with the pool lamp they installed. I did find a bolt on the bottom of the pool though. read more

My problem was my heater for my swimming pool. I had another company come out and they would guess what the problem might be and buy replacement parts that I did not need and did not fix the problem. Also getting parts at a pool supply store are extremely expensive. They wanted a 100% markup. Pro touch gets parts wholesale which is much cheaper. Just bought a new house and it has a really cool fountain in the back yard. 2 weeks later the fountain stopped working. Not a huge deal. I figured it will simply be an electrical issue or it needs a new pump but it will just cost a little money and problem will be solved. Then I started looking for someone to do the job which was very frustrating. The first company I found made an appointment for 8am A WEEK LATER and then called and canceled on me at 8:30 on the morning they were supposed to show up at 8am. I told them if they want to reschedule I want their word and assurance that they will be on time. They didn't even care and had no respect for my time. They said they were busy and would call later when they knew the schedule of the guy who did not show up to work that day. And they were supposedly a big company with multiple service techs. Next guy was not much different. Made an appoint for 2 weeks later even though he said he lives right down the street from me. I offered to pay if he would stop by my place to or from work at least to see if he needs to order a pump so we are not wasting time. He said no. Either he was lazy or I was not important enough for him to stop by for 2 minutes (I live right next to him) and see what the issue was. The next day, on the weekend, I researched him and found out that he apparently has a habit of scheduling appointments 2 weeks out then canceled multiple times, so in light of the fact that he was not coming out for another 2 weeks I asked him not to come and said I'd find someone else. By now I had talked to about 10 different companies and was praying there is someone competent out there than can help me and actually cares to help. I called ProTouch Pool Services, on a Saturday, and Kevin answered the phone. Wow! A total 180 from every single other pool/fountain service contractor that I spoke to. Super on-the-ball, helpful, caring, and said either he or Glenn would stop by on Monday at least to diagnose the issue. Glenn came out on Monday. He was on time. Super nice guy. Said the problem was that the water was too low. No electrical issue. No pump issue. We simply added water with a hose and problem was solved. Glenn even fixed another problem I had and without charging anything for his time. The water in my fountain was green and attracted mosquitos. Glenn put some power in it to counter act the algae and added some pool cleaner to kill whatever was attracting mosquitos and said I did not owe him anything. I insisted on paying for his time but he said no he was glad to help me and it was not a big deal for him. He wouldn't let me pay for his time that day. I didn't know what else to do but thank him for his kindness. Obviously, if I ever have an issue with my fountain or if any of my friends need a pool guy, these are my go to guys. Night and day compared to everyone else I spoke to or dealt with and super nice guys who are pros and honest people who fixed my problem without charging me for a pump or something else I did not need. read more
