I'd give them 10 stars if I could... I shattered the front of my IPhone6, and needed to get the glass replaced. After reading the reviews of PRO, I called and spoke to Oscar (I think), and initially, he said it was going to take about 2 to 3 days. Before I hung up, he asked exactly what I needed, and I explained how I use my phone for business and can't easily disconnect from it. He called the stores and found one of the guys to get the glass replaced within three hours...at no extra charge. Fantastic service from the moment of the call to the time I got my phone back. My desktop PC was often hanging up in various programs, and I wanted to save my key emails (w/o having to manually save each one separately) into an external drive. I was steered to the Clark St. branch, where they have more Techs, so that my wait would be less than at the other branches They cleaned the interior of dust, and removed infections from the hard drive. They couldn't save selected emails into an external drive., but rather had to save each folder (e.g. Sent Items) as a whole entity. When, a week later, I noticed many hundreds of extra files in MY Documents, I phoned them, and they remotely connected into my PC (at no extra charge), to determine that I could delete these files w/o risk. read more

I brought my laptop in that had severe viruses without my knowledge. I had some very personal information and photos of loved ones that are no longer with me that I would do anything, and would have paid anything to retrieve that data. I spoke with Jake one of the service techs first by posting on Yelp and then a follow-up by Jake by phone almost immediately. All I can say it was completely professional from beginning, middle, to the end. I told them my situation on the data that was important, and at least if they can take a look at it and give it a try, and just not erase the data and give me back windows just reloaded. This company is SO "Professional" they definitely should be doing corporate work for companies, and for reps that lose, or can't retrieve data from spills drop, laptops, or viruses from going on to the sites that you're not aware of and not protected from. I brought my laptop in, and met with Jake, in person he made me no guaranteed but he assured me they do their due diligence, and work, and actually do their best to retrieve and find the lost data, and try there best 2 restore it if possible. and would take the time whatever it takes because they know not only on a personal level what some of those files meant to me but as well as Mywork-related information I needed as well. I rate this company 10 Stars! I would recommend to anybody on Yelp. Great job guys they saved pictures that were private to me from people that I've lost in my life. We're other companies would have just given me the same old story wiped out the hard drive and reloaded windows and you lost all your pictures and all your data on your hard drive. Great great job! This company is completely deserves to be recognized at such a higher level of competence they will work on your computer and do their best to retrieve, or get the data that you possibly can get even it might take a little bit of time they will honestly try. A couple weeks after picking up my newly repaired laptop I bought a new external hard drive for backup purposes. Instead of tying up my computer for hours and hours to back up my huge amount of data, I decided to call Pro Computers to see if they could do it for me with the backup they made of my data on their server while they repaired my computer. Not only did they still have my data, they were extremely pleasant and happy to accomodate, and when I went to pick up my hard drive, there was no charge! With service like this that goes the extra mile, I will definitely be coming back to Pro Computers if, knock on wood, I need any other computer repairs. read more

They did an amazing job repairing my laptop. I had to replace the adapter months before because someone had tripped on the cord. Just a couple of weeks ago my computer had stopped charging. Something I was expecting to be about $500 ended up costing $130. If I was to deal with the manufacturer, it would have taken three to four weeks to get my computer back. I brought in my PS3 that was having problems playing some games, but was still being used for media streaming and Netflix, etc. Long story short, I never got it back because during their diagnostic phase I was told it would not power back on. It worked when I brought it in and now it doesn't anymore. The only compensation I was offered was not having to pay for diagnostics ($29) Thanks for nothing. Nice enough guys, I guess. Excellent, supurb service. I spoke to Mike and he was generous enough to help out with a computer glitch in no time at all over the phone. Mike was professional, precise, knew EXACTLY what the gensis of my root problem was and bam, fixed! Their remote service rocks. I have a laptop, windows, 64-bit system with a 32-bit in backdrop to open part of my ancient archieved files. Yes, odd but it works. When I was shopping for a new tech store to assist with all my tech needs, they were the only HONEST, TRANSPARENT and fair pricing company that gave me the confidence they would not take the liberty of just jacking up the pricing of repair but it would be a simple fix. Out of 5 tech shops visiting face-to-face inquiring for a solution, all of them said my hard-drive was crashing. Not Pro Computers. Pro within minutes of my visit showed that my OS was corrupted and needed to be just reinstalled and my virus protection was not doing the job. All other inquiries/shops pinning me down to a $275 - $325 fee. Pro? Roughly $90 bucks - Wow and fixed. Why did I take the pain staking time visiting 5 tech shops? Due to I was looking for a long term relationship that could service remotely, accurately and felt I had someone accountable for their work. Pro did and even superceded my expectations each and every time. They are patient with my questions, several challenges fixed with other units I brought in that now run perfectly, I will consider them to build a new desktop sooner than later. I am a nut about the level of knowledge, skill sets and commitment to the customer's needs. If you are like me, you will not be disappointed. Thank you YELP. I had a Macbook Pro that had been kicking along just fine for years, and suddenly BAM! The screen stopped turning on. I'm pretty computer savvy, so I did some basic troubleshooting before making the dreaded trip to the Apple Store for service. They couldn't find my computer's serial number, refused to look at anything, and called my computer vintage. Um, pretty sure computers are not jeans. Left feeling really frustrated with their terrible customer service, to say the least.. Anyway, I started looking up 3rd party repair places and found PRO computers, conveniently walking distance from my apartment! I submitted a description of my problem through a form on their website. I got a reply and a phone call within 24 hours, plus a really reasonable quote. Awesome, let's do this! When I brought it in, I paid their diagnostic fee and I assumed I would hear back in 1-2 days. However, I didn't hear back, which was odd since they had been so responsive up until that point. I guess what happened was they sent out the computer to get fixed outside the shop. I didn't hear anything until it was back in the shop and already fixed. I went in and the computer was back up and working great! However, the outside people had left almost all the external screws out of my laptop body. The guys at PRO computers were really nice about and made sure everything was in order before I took it out of the shop. I was really happy with the end result, but did feel out of the loop during the process. I would still definitely recommend these guys though, since in the end my computer was running great and that is what matters most to me. Overall.... Price 5! End product 5! Customer Service 4... could definitely have let me know right away that they had sent my computer out. read more

I have been bringing my laptops in here for service for years and I wouldn't take them anywhere else. They are thorough, fast, reasonably priced and trustworthy. There have even been times where I wasn't charged for the service because it was so minimal. I trust their opinion and their $29.00 diagnostic service is just right! I had an absolutely fantastic experience with these guys! I left the details of the issues with my home network on their website and within 3 days Graham came out and totally fixed everything. He correctly diagnosed the problems and worked independently to fix them, all the while keeping me informed of the steps he was taking through calls to my cell. He also hooked up my new outdoor stereo that ran through wireless connection. I had tried to fix these recurring issues with my network, but two hours of Graham actually solving it made me realize I should have called these guys years ago. It cost me $150 in service fees, but I can honestly say that it was money well-spent, relieving me of the constant frustration and freeing up my time to work on other things. I've been to PRO three times since I've moved to Ravenswood, and I've found PRO to have the best customer service and open line of communication out of any other computer repair store I've been to. The screen on my MacBook cracked and they were able to replace it in about 3 days. The next incident I had, which happened to be another cracked screen, was resolved by PRO just as good as the last time. Instead of going to visit the Geek Squad or the Apple "Geniuses", definitely check out PRO. I believe they have other locations in the surrounding area, and I'm definitely glad there's one close to where I live! read more

After some issues arose with my iMac's hard drive I brought it to PRO to be diagnosed, however the technician could not simulate the issue and said they couldn't find anything wrong with my computer other than being very dirty and dusty inside. When I got my computer home I opened the box and there was dust, cat hair and fingerprints visibly under the screen!?!?! Whoever had put it back together made no attempt what so ever to wipe off their fingerprints or eliminate dust from behind the glass and I found this to be incredibly careless and discourteous. Did they expect me to work at my computer like that? I'm a video editor and seeing all that dirt and grime under my screen every day would drive me crazy. For this reason I believe PRO should offer cleaning as a courtesy when diagnosing computers, otherwise there will always be dust and finger prints under the screen when someone gets their computer back. Furthermore, when I opened my computer to clean it I found that my hard drive retainer was missing and one of the tabs on the bezel was broken off and someone had tried gluing it back on. I was very angry at the time and couldn't believe anyone would be so negligent with someone else's property. The owner Florian contacted me afterward to follow up and ask about my experience and I explained how dissatisfied I was. He asked if there was anything he could do to remedy the situation and since I had already gone through the trouble of cleaning my computer I asked if they could fix an old iPhone 4S with sound issues. He said to bring it in but they couldn't fix it and eventually told me to take it back to Apple. While I won't be recommending PRO to anyone I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 because even though my experience was less than great the staff seemed very knowledgeable and courteous while I was there. One gentleman even helped carry my computer back to my car as I had my 2 year old son with me. read more

One of the problems for the self-employed is who get to be your IT Department. First, I had a guy but he moved. The next guy retired, but he suggested I use PRO. I could not be happier. When I don't have my computer, I don't work and I don't earn. If I lose data, I've got problems. Pro has protected me from all that. Additionally, they saved me when I spilled coffee on my keyboard and when ransom-ware froze my computer. They work is prompt, reasonably priced and ready when they say it will be. I know I should know about how my computer works, but I don't. I just want it to do what I want as I want. PRO does that for me and doesn't make me feel bad that I do not know more. Pro Computers saved my data files when my hard drive and operating system crashed. They were speedy and responsive, giving me a few important files on the spot when I dropped my computer off. And their prices seem pretty fair compared to the competition. I would definitely return (but hopefully I won't need to!) I only have two minor complaints: The folks over there aren't exactly personality plus (at least the 2 people I dealt with). Don't expect to receive your service with a smile. Great knowledgeable, quick service -- and they're not nickle-and-diming customers. The mouse on my laptop was acting erratically, so I called them, based on Yelp reviews already posted. The technician tried to diagnose my problem over the phone and said that 99 percent of machines had a simple solution to this. He told me to give it a try and call him back if it didn't work. He wasn't even going to charge me for this. Another business probably would have told me to come in and at least stuck me with a bill for a diagnosis fee. Unfortunately, my machine was the 1 percent that didn't respond to his suggested solution. So I took it in and within three days, my laptop was fixed. It would have been faster if a part didn't need to be ordered. I had been willing to pay extra for their super-speedy service but the technician told me not to waste my money, that they weren't that busy that week and that my machine would be fixed as soon as the part arrived. Again, rather than trying to squeeze an extra $50 out of me, they played fair. read more

Blue screens of death, repair, more blue screens of death, repair, more... you get the picture. Finally a new clue, pre-boot beeping. Motherboard. Expensive part, but obviously what was wrong...I am sending this on my PC. Trick seems to be not to have a computer made by a company (like HP or Dell). They have proprietary plugs and things that make replacing any of their parts impossible with generic. Pro Computers was/is concise, efficient and paid attention to my need to have the machine ASAP for a project. PC also builds machines... so that will be my next one. read more

At the beginning of August I dropped off an external hard drive to be recovered. I noted the format I would like it in as well as that the data was originally encrypted. I came back to the store a series on FIVE separate occasions to pick up the hard drive because I was told each time that the service was complete. However, each time after picking up my hard drive I had to return because I could not access my data. I wouldn't have minded if they told me at the beginning that my data was not recoverable, but five separate trips up there to discover this is unreasonable and also put me out over $100 in cab fare from Wicker Park. Pro's are that the staff was friendly/understanding and I got a refund. That's about it. read more

These guys are great! I dropped off my totally non-functional computer for a diagnosis; I had to run so I called later for the quote. Max talked me through exactly what needed to be done, and looked up costs for replacement parts right there on the phone with me. Although I would've appreciated a call to let me know my parts were delayed, Max fixed it up the day everything got there. When I went to pick it up, I found out that there had been even more problems with my computer than he initially thought, but I still ended up paying less than the quoted price! I've since found out that they are great with email support as well. In my book, these guys couldn't be better. They're all very pleasant, never give you a pushy sell, and do great work for a great price. A+ would use again. read more

My experience with this place was pretty frustrating. I set an appointment and explained the issue. I needed virus removal and hardware inspection to assess full damage. I took the computer in and they actually got it done quicker than they stated they would. I was pleasantly surprised, until I took it home and realized there were still issues and now the computer shut down on it's own (which it wasn't previously doing). I called them, told them what was going on, and was told to bring the computer back in. I asked if they needed anything else (such as the program discs to reinstall a hard drive) and they stated they did not. I got to the appointment and was told they'd need those discs. I brought them back and very clearly explained to the technician that I wanted ALL material from the current system saved and reinstalled on the reinstalled system. The man assured me everything would be saved and reinstalled, including iTunes and my photo program and photos. I've waited months to write this review in the hopes that I'd be able to, somehow, get back the things that were lost. I haven't been able to and, clearly, PRO Computers did not live up to their promise of transfering all my data (that is after initially not evening fixing the computer correctly on the first visit)! I've lost photos and music due to that experience and there's not a chance I'd go back to them for anything. It seems others have had good experiences with them, but taking all reviews into account, they're pretty hit or miss. read more

I needed two capacitors replaced on my printer's circuit board. It seemed like a simple fix, but other repair shops were going to charge me half the cost of my printer to fix it. I was near ready to get rid of my printer until I called Crescent Technology. Not only could they fix it, but they offered a very reasonable price. About 1/4 the cost of the other repair shops! The guys I spoke with were incredibly nice, the service was excellent, and the workmanship was beautiful! I highly recommend this place. read more

I've recently found myself unable to hold on to my iPhone and have dropped it twice in the last month. While I've been working on perfecting my gripping skills, I have been fortunate enough to have Crescent fix my damaged phone for me. Twice. On the first occasion, they were able to replace a cracked screen for me in under an hour's time and for a reasonable fee. The second incident resulted in an unseated cable and Crescent had me in and out of the store in under 10 minutes. EDIT: Two weeks later, the screen on my phone went blank (not the result of a drop). Crescent didn't have an available technician, so I brought my phone to another shop. The tech there informed me that the phone was missing a screw and a couple of pads that would have prevented the cable from unseating. These parts were not reinstalled after my initial repair at Crescent. read more

Close to where I live, so they're convenient. And I'm so much happier giving my money to a local shop, rather than one of the larger big box stores, or shopping on line. I had been in once before, just to pick up a new power cord for my old computer. And then, I had a larger problem with my old machine, and when I called to discuss the issue, they confirmed what I knew: that it would cost more money than I was willing to put into a very old computer. When I said I couldn't afford a new one, and would just have to take my chances, they mentioned that they had a newer computer they could refurbish for me, if I was interested. They quoted me a ridiculously low price, and said they'd get to it soon, and would call me when it was ready. I'd be able to take a look at it, with no obligation to purchase. They called me back within days. I went in the next day, and decided to buy the machine. (The price was exactly the same as I was quoted over the phone.) They transferred all of the data from my old machine at no charge, installed updated software so my old documents would be compatible with the new operating system (also, for free), and when I had a small issue the next day, I brought the machine back in, they fixed it in minutes, and answered a short list of questions I had about the new machine. They were GREAT. Very friendly, fast, honest, incredibly reasonable pricing. These guys are the best. I can't imagine I'll ever go anywhere else. read more
