If I could give 6 stars to a business, then I would be able to accurately rate PRO Computers. I have without a doubt never received more professional and comprehensive customer service than I have with PRO Computers. I don't use my yelp account much, and when I do; it is to make sure that the community is aware of an incredible service available locally, and that they use or don't use that service. PRO Computers has saved not 1, not 2...but three hard drives and their data for me. These guys are amazing, and so low key, no attitude. I have also purchased two rebuilt computers from PRO Computers, and they have worked as if new. Excellent, reasonably priced, quick service. The hard drive in my kids' 5 year old iMac crashed. My bad, I didn't follow up on the hard drive's recall notice back in 2012. I also did not have a complete back up of pictures, docs and videos that my kids created over the past years. I didn't think it would matter until.... I found Pro while looking to recycle some computer equipment. While checking out Pro's website regarding the recycling, I received a pop-up message. At that point, I inquired about my iMac. The rep gave me some information and a quote. A day or so later, I brought the equipment for recycling and the iMac to the Andersonville shop. In a couple of days, I received the imac back with a new hard drive and a new OS loaded - for about $200. Much less than buying a new one, for sure. The hard drive was not recoverable using ordinary methods. They sent the drive out to a "clean room". They were able to restore it. Regular back ups and/or acting upon the recall notice would have saved me the cost of $499 to recover it. Steep price but the contents were invaluable to me...and I got them back! Initial contact with this company was back on 24JAN18. Requested a quote for wiring of 5 ethernet jacks and a rack mounted switch. Took over a week for installer to get back to me to schedule date for a quote. Tech came out 06FEB18 to give me a quote after 1 reschedule, that's fine that stuff happens. Guy who came out says he will turn in quote to the company and they will get back to me with a price and to schedule a date for work to be done. It is now 13FEB18 and still haven't heard back so I decide to call them. Woman who answers says only thing she can find for me using my address and name is something about a $95 charge. I ask her what it's for and she says she'll get someone to call me back to see what the $95 charge is in reference to. I ask her if that's the quote (no way that could be the price) and she tells me she doesn't know and mentions they've been having system problems. Once again she says someone will get back to me by email or phone. I ask her what contact info they have for me and she says, let me get that from you...1 second earlier she was getting ready to hang up. Politely tell her no thank you and that I'll look into hiring someone else. read more

Love how close this place is to my home in Andersonville. I came in just having wept (yet again!) over the fate of my laptop lid. The screen itself has never cracked, but three times now the base of the lid near the keyboard has popped off exposing hardware and getting crunchy with my LCD screen. Another computer place had repaired it twice previously by gluing what popped off and crossing their fingers (something I gave the okay on), but this time, I was ready to replace the whole lid. PRO quoted me in less than 24 hours, and after estimating my repair time to be about a week and a half with part shipping and labor, I got my computer back in a week. YAY! The audio jack from my speaker broke off inside of the port of my Macbook. Other places quoted me $1200 and $800 but Crescent fixed it same day for $200. One of the guys even tried to remove the jack with a tiny pair of tweezers and said he would have only charged me $50 if he could get it out. No such luck, but I didnt get charged for the effort. I dropped off my computer at 7am and it was ready by lunchtime. A job well-done. Everything works great now. read more

I actually went to the location in Jefferson Park but don't find that location on Yelp so I'm reviewing the Andersonville store. Can't stay enough. I needed a new power jack installed. My computer was no longer charging. I had this happen to a computer a few years ago - that repair shop told me I would have to send it to the manufacturer for repair at significant cost. I just bought a new lap top. This time, I did a bit more research and found these guys. Dropped off at 9:30, picked up at 2:30. $99 and it was all done. They even let me use a loaner for free since it was for such a short amount of time. Couldn't be happier. Will definitely use these guys again in the future. read more

Bought a computer off of craigslist - my first mistake. Had some crashing/failure to boot problems with it a month later so I brought it into PRO. They identified the problem (viruses from the person I bought it from, thanks guy), fixed it, and I went on my way. A few days later I started having the same issue though not as severe as before, so I waited a couple weeks later after it just wouldn't work. Kind of annoyed, I went back. Once again they identified a NEW problem (RAM was overclocked, once again something the previous owner did), fixed it, and then gave it back to me no charge (which I thought was very generous)! Worked fine for me that night. Ok...so I admit when I had the SAME crashing issue the next morning I was pretty pissed. I brought it back in there and then when they got back to me it turned out to be a whole OTHER problem - power supply issue. They explained why they didn't catch this issue before and they were willing to offer me half off on labor fees because I had brought it in so much. However, I know how to replace a power supply so I just took my computer and did the work myself. So far no issues, almost a month later! This review may sound a little negative but here's why I'd rate them 5 stars - at every step of the process they explained what was going on and what I would need to do to fix it. I know a little bit about computers but not a ton and they were happy to explain things in a way I could understand. At no point did I feel like they were trying to wring money out of me - the 2nd time they didn't even charge me to fix the issue I had and the 3rd time they just let me take my computer out with no charge. Free diagnosis with no pressure to have them do anything is really great. Highly recommended! read more

Given the big box alternatives and their sky high diagnostic fees, PRO Computers is a welcome change. I support this local business - they won't rip you off. I've been here on two separate occasions, so far so good! My computer was inoperable to first time I brought it in- they figured out the problem and installed a new hard drive. I had my laptop back within a week. A bit longer than I would like, but I still appreciate the service. Everything was restored and problem solved! The second time i brought it in was unrelated, I had trouble with my network connection. They could have held on to it and charged me for looking at it but he tinkered around for a bit and found the problem. Also, he gave me some unsolicited advice about anti-virus protection and software. Apparently Norton sucks. I had no idea! AND - They have an online tracking system where you can monitor the status of your order, not sure how often it's updated but the fact that it even exists is great news! I'm definetely a fan. Charged me $89 to get rid of an "infection," but in reality did absolutely nothing to my laptop. When I got my laptop back the tech had left the software program he ran to get rid of my "infection" on the desktop. It was a freeware program that I could have easily downloaded off the internet myself for free. It was also very obvious that the tech had done nothing more than run a freeware program on my computer and then did a system restore- all of which I could have done myself for free at home without their help. When I got it back, my laptop was in worse shape than when I took it in. I had to actually start it in safe mode to even get it to start, and when I did start it a bunch of bloatware that I had previously erased from my computer was magically back on my computer. The next day I got an e-mail and a call from them about my negative review. I told them about my issues. Their response was to send me my invoice, and write "What more could we have done?" Hmm- maybe you could have not just run a free software program and then charged me $89 for the "privilege." Thanks for nothing. read more

I brought my computer in and talked to Jake at the Jefferson Park location (there are 3 locations, thank you PRO). Later that afternoon they called and emailed me the estimate and diagnosis of the problem. The following day, they called and emailed when my computer was fixed and complete. In general, I think these guys do a very good job. I've been to other places before, like the one where I paid to have my memory upgraded with 2 ddm2 cards... and it didn't happen. These guys at PRO have fixed both my desktop (which is probably due to be retired soon) and just recently my laptop. Viruses/ malware? gone. Sluggish running? vastly improved. I've used Pro Computers twice and had a great experience the first time. They de-virused (is that a word?) my desktop, added some memory and put on a new virus protection program. My desktop came back to me in great condition. The second time I took my same desktop in, it wasn't returned to me how I had hoped. They basically changed my entire profile. I can't even find my original profile. All of my files, pictures, etc. were there, but the viruses they were paid to remove, were not removed. I ran my own virus scan right after I plugged it all back in and found 11 viruses on the computer. Um, didn't I just pay them $109 to remove these for me....amongst other things? Yes, I certainly did. In addition to that, they put some weird parental control on my computer and I'm unable to access certain websites and I have absolutely no idea how to turn it off. Needless to say, I'm a little bit pissed! And now my virus protection doesn't even work at all. Everytime I run a scan, I have 10+ viruses every time and I run it at least once a week. In addition to that, half the time I try to connect to the internet, I am unable to due to some firewall thing they put on my computer. I never had an issue connecting to the internet prior to taking my computer in to PRO Computers the second time. I also use my laptop from work at home on ocassion and I have no trouble connecting to the internet with the laptop. I'm pretty convinced, PRO Computers has something to do with the problems I'm having connecting to the internet with my desktop! Initially, I was very happy to have found a great computer repair business as I'm very computer illiterate, but I have to say, I will probably look into other options the next time I have any issues and with the condition PRO Computers left my desktop in this past time, I will probably need some assistance sooner than I'd like! My rating reflects the average of my two experiences - 5, the first time and 1 for this last time. I hope you have better luck than I did! read more

I found Crescent through Yelp. I was really excited about all of the positive reviews. While at work, I had spilled water on my laptop. When I took my computer in, it seemed like it was going to be a simple fix. I ended up needing my motherboard replaced. I took my laptop in on January 28th and I just got it back today-February 20th. I don't know if the length of time for the repair was due to parts coming in slowly, them being slammed with business, or if a motherboard repair generally takes around 2 weeks. I paid a little over $300. It would have been nice to get $20-40 knocked off considering it did take them so long, but oh well. Some folks have said I could have bought a new computer for the price to get mine repaired. While that may be true, I was a dumbass and didn't back up all my files. Around 75% of the files on my computer are backed up. The problem was, the 25% contained some really important work stuff. *sigh* C'est la vie. The lesson here is no more liquids around my computer. read more

My desktop PC was often hanging up in various programs, and I wanted to save my key emails (w/o having to manually save each one separately) into an external drive. I was steered to the Clark St. branch, where they have more Techs, so that my wait would be less than at the other branches They cleaned the interior of dust, and removed infections from the hard drive. They couldn't save selected emails into an external drive., but rather had to save each folder (e.g. Sent Items) as a whole entity. When, a week later, I noticed many hundreds of extra files in MY Documents, I phoned them, and they remotely connected into my PC (at no extra charge), to determine that I could delete these files w/o risk. read more

I just had to update because I am so happy. I took my computer back in because it was acting funky. They have a 90 day guarantee, as long as it has to do with what they originally fixed. I brought my laptop in that had severe viruses without my knowledge. I had some very personal information and photos of loved ones that are no longer with me that I would do anything, and would have paid anything to retrieve that data. I spoke with Jake one of the service techs first by posting on Yelp and then a follow-up by Jake by phone almost immediately. All I can say it was completely professional from beginning, middle, to the end. I told them my situation on the data that was important, and at least if they can take a look at it and give it a try, and just not erase the data and give me back windows just reloaded. This company is SO "Professional" they definitely should be doing corporate work for companies, and for reps that lose, or can't retrieve data from spills drop, laptops, or viruses from going on to the sites that you're not aware of and not protected from. I brought my laptop in, and met with Jake, in person he made me no guaranteed but he assured me they do their due diligence, and work, and actually do their best to retrieve and find the lost data, and try there best 2 restore it if possible. and would take the time whatever it takes because they know not only on a personal level what some of those files meant to me but as well as Mywork-related information I needed as well. I rate this company 10 Stars! I would recommend to anybody on Yelp. Great job guys they saved pictures that were private to me from people that I've lost in my life. We're other companies would have just given me the same old story wiped out the hard drive and reloaded windows and you lost all your pictures and all your data on your hard drive. Great great job! This company is completely deserves to be recognized at such a higher level of competence they will work on your computer and do their best to retrieve, or get the data that you possibly can get even it might take a little bit of time they will honestly try.
