Visited Protein Bar & Kitchen for weekend lunch. I like that they are nestled slightly away from the mall to avoid crowds. The inside was quite large and mostly had people stopping in for pick up orders and smoothies. Their menu offers the same ingredients in burrito or bowl form as well as salad or wrap form. The menu clearly outlines the item's protein, fiber and caloric counts to also consider. While most items have a recommended protein, you can switch it out for another choice. My husband and I each got a Mexicali Burrito; his with chicken and mind with tofu. It was a good sized portion and ingredients were fresh & well mixed inside. I did get a huge kale steam in my burrito but fished it out. While I thought the flavors were good, it didn't leave me craving to come back. But otherwise it's a neat place for a quick meal. Very bright, clean, spacious, and comfortable. I got the vegan bowl minus the creamy chia dressing. It was fine. Very fresh and nutritious. I should have asked if they had other dressings as this salad was a bit on the plain side, but that's on me for not being able to eat creamy dressings. Anything that looks or sounds like it might possibly contain mayonnaise makes me queasy. I got excited that they offered strawberry-rhubarb ice tea so I ordered a cup for tea. But when I got closer to the dispenser I read the ingredients: strawberry, rhubarb, apple cider VINEGAR! That's my only other food fear! Mayonnaise and vinegar. I like to come to the protein bar after my workout at LA fitness. They have a wide variety of breakfast food, oatmeal, salads, green drinks, and my favorite : protein drinks! My favorite go to has been the red line, but I also like the pier-but butter and jelly or the avo-matcha. Both are really tasty and good supplement for after a good hard workout! My only minor gripe is that I wish they opened up earlier especially during the week. I've become a repeat-offender, grabbing protein shakes here prior to my volleyball nights at the LA fitness, next door. Expect your kale, chia seeds, acai, and other great superfoods. I haven't tried foods yet, but it's definitely on my list. Good ambience, colorful, and more for a lunch or quick dinner than a formal sit-down. I've tried the PB & J, and the Perk. both winners for me. great in flavor, noticeably naturally sweet due to ingredients; not added sugar. Prices are a little higher for the quality you're getting, but the shakes are always flavorful. I feel like I was waiting for Protein Bar to open in the burbs FOREVER! And now, it opens two minutes from my house, and next to my gym - doesn't get any better than that! I love this place because it offers healthy food fast. All of the calorie information is listed on the menu, so there are no hidden surprises. From my experiences, it is always clean, and well-staffed. My go-to is the chicken chili - great for when I am too lazy to actually make chili myself. Everything about it is perfect - not too spicy, not too soupy. Served with some melted cheddar and some cool greek yogurt, it's my favorite thing to get. I did get the quinoa chili bowl once, and wasn't a fan - solely because I have a love/hate relationship with quinoa. I want to love it, because it's healthy and a good source of protein - but I just can't get past the texture and the grainy smell - but if you like quinoa, there are a lot of options here for you. I also tried the guac and roll wrap, with chicken, tomatoes, avocado, and the super 6 salad mix. I opted out of the cilantro dressing and got the bbq sauce instead, which was really good and very filling - I was starving when I got it, and I could only eat about 3/4 of it. What I REALLY enjoy from here is the fresh raw juice - the Greenberry is my favorite - kale, lime, apple, strawberry, cilantro, YUM. I love having this for breakfast, or post-workout.
