Berry Banana

Quick stop for a smoothie, got the berry banana with oat milk and honey almond butter. Ready fast&good portion size. It was a little icier than I'd like but the almond and berry flavor came through nicely. Extensive menu and quick service. Good spot if you need something fast and on the healthier side.

This was my first time trying Protein Bar & Kitchen, and I was pleasantly surprised. As a vegetarian, I appreciated the variety of options. I ordered the Mexicali bowl with a quinoa base and added cabbage for extra crunch--it was flavorful and not dry at all. There are a ton of options for protein and i added the tofu. I took my meal to the river instead of dining in, but the inside looked clean and the staff always seemed friendly.

Triple Berry Acai Bowl $12 - Great flavor and loaded with berries and granola. I would definitely come back here for an acai bowl if I was in the area. I need to try The Elvis that has the peanut butter on top next time. When I came during a weekday morning, there was no line. I used the self order kiosk at the counter and got my acai bowl in minutes. Located right across from the Sears tower. .|\---/| | @_@ | ..\_^_/..2025

Ordered pickup while at a conference. I got the tofu wrap and my colleague got the tofu bowl. I quite enjoyed mine. Thought it was delicious, fresh, and healthy. Lightly and bright seasoned. Tofu was firm and plentiful. This kept me full until dinner.

Decent Spot with Room for Improvement I visited the Protein Bar & Kitchen near Willis Tower and ordered the Mexicali Bowl along with the PB&J protein smoothie. Overall, the experience was just okay and didn't quite meet expectations for a health-focused fast-casual spot. The smoothie, made with peanut butter, berries, almond milk, and agave, tasted more like a dessert--very sweet and lacking the balanced flavor I hoped for in a protein drink. The Mexicali Bowl was hearty but leaned too heavily on cheese, beans, and carbs, which made it feel overly dense and less nutritious than advertised. It seemed more focused on bulk than freshness or healthy balance. The self-serve ordering kiosk was convenient, but not very intuitive; I had some difficulty navigating the options and understanding how to customize my order. While the staff was present, they weren't particularly welcoming or helpful, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. The interior was clean but had a bland, underwhelming atmosphere. I still left a 20% tip out of habit, but given the limited staff interaction and self-service model, it didn't feel particularly warranted. If you're in a rush and need something filling with a decent amount of protein, this location might work--but don't expect standout flavors or an especially engaging dining experience.

I absolutely loved my first experience at Protein Bar and Kitchen! This is definitely going to be my new go-to lunch spot when I'm at the office. As someone who tracks their protein intake, I really appreciate that they include all the macros on their app and menu. That's one of the main reasons I wanted to try this place, and I wish more spots would do the same! I ordered the Cobb wrap with a side cup of the chicken chili and both were delicious! Also really easy to order pick up via the app. I'll 100% be back and can't wait to try more items from their menu. Highly recommend!

This place was very bad. We ordered through Uber eats with a group of us. I had the smoothie and southwest salad. Both were pretty bad and didn't finish either. The chicken is the salad was notably gross. Would not go back would not recommend.

Today was a late breakfast day, and these guys were so good to still make us a couple of Bacon, Egg, & Cheese Bar-itos, even though it was past 11 am. Sooooo grateful! The diner is small, and made for more grab n'go orders. There's are stools along the windows and one table. it's bright and airy here, so the feel is wakThe staff is super friendly upon entering and the entire time we sat. We don't have anything comparable in south Florida, so I LOVE the turkey bacon and egg whites here! The açaí and parfait bowls are a little smaller than we are used to, but I think they're actually perfect single serve portions. They were delicious regardless! The smoothie and Keto coffee were equally as tasty! Thanks you PB Kitchen! You're a lifesaver!

There are limited healthy food and drink options in Chicago but I was able to find this protein bar that gives you so many healthy juice options! It was located pretty central and I stopped by for a much needed refresher. Then, I went over to see Millennium Park and they had a few summer things happening that day like make your own lunchable?! yes. Thanks for giving me a little healthy boost that day.

Bang bang broccoli - a favorite! Crispy, saucy, one of the most delicious ways to eat broccoli (I wish I didn't have to share haha!) 2. Fresh rolls with peanut sauce - perfectly fine but the same as you can get at any Thai restaurant, there are much more exciting things on the menu 3. 1000 layer potatoes - I know from personal experience that these are a pain in the butt to make, so I was so excited to see a vegan version! I was actually hoping for more of a crisp distinction between layers, but it was a tasty little bite 4. Unagi eggplant nigiri - the standout of the night for all of us! The miso truffle on top and the creative use of eggplant (that really looked like eel! Wow!) made for an excellent bite. I would order way more next time! 5. Red dragon roll - carrot salmon, pickled watermelon, avocado, masago, spicy mayo. This was good but not a standout, we should have ordered something with more variety of textures 6. Chili "crab" noodles - hearts of palm + jackfruit, bok choy, doubanjiang sauce, peanuts + cilantro. The omnivores among us were not convinced by the "crab", but this was nicely spicy 7. Seasonal special piri piri tofu skewers - for a bit of protein, this was a heartier dish with some nice flavor but not too exciting We were seated quickly even though our reservation was not for another 45 minutes, which was awesome because we were hungry! It was an excellent meal with the creativity of plant based cooking on full display. Even the pickiest of omnivores enjoyed. One of my friends did not like her drink and the server was kind enough to replace it with a different one for free. (I loved the mint lemonade) We were out on the patio so apologies for the dark pictures that don't do the food justice!

Truly - eating at PLANTA is an experience. We weren't sure how busy it would be on a Saturday evening so made a reservation, which turned out to be the right move. We were seated promptly and our server thoughtfully offered descriptions and suggestions that guided us to the following assortment of mind-blowing items: -Bang Bang Broccoli: if you order nothing else, get this. Perfectly cooked, beautifully seasoned, with just the right amount of crispiness and a magical peanut chili sauce. -Firecracker maki roll: filled with sweet potato and avocado, topped with a monstrous pile of potato straws, unagi, and glorious sauce. -Udon noodles with truffle mushroom cream: the description is deceptively understated. This dish is magic - thick chewy noodles generously coated in an unbelievably creamy sauce and SO MANY mushrooms. Pricing is fine - more than I'd like to pay for a routine weeknight dinner, but justified by the flavors and the experience of elevated plant-based cuisine. It's a good (but also terrible) thing that I live far away, otherwise all my time and money would likely be spent at PLANTA.

We actually got the rec for Penelope's from a doorman lol. I am so glad we came here. Everything was DELICIOUS. Honestly, maybe some of the best tacos I've ever had. We ordered the quesadilla grande (which was good, but I think there's only so much you can do with vegan cheese), a taco platter, and 3 tacos. We tried to order one of each taco to try everything. The tacos were amazing -- we loved all of them. My favorites were the mushroom chimichurri and the soyrizo. They also have a spicy salsa that is AMAZING, but is super spicy. Service was good - the waitress we had was very attentive. We went on the earlier side for dinner so it was quiet, but did start picking up by the time we left. I loved that they kept the flavors consistent with how I remember non-vegan food being. And it was such a good concept for the Baja taco to fire avocados as a substitute for the fish. Definitely recommend trying the red salsa to top off the tacos and the sangria to pair with your meal. As far as the ambiance goes, the music was fun , the windows were open, and the vibes were summery and fun. Decor could be slightly more up to date but it didn't take away from the experience. The waitresses were pretty nice , but when it hits closing time they will definitely let you know!!

The entirely plant based menu is varied, whimsical, and intentional, and the staff are just glorious. The outcome: -Laksa: Malaysian noodle soup with a coconut curry broth, served with a variety of vegetables, tofu, and vegan shrimp. What? Yes. So good. -Heavenly curry: magical curry base (coconut milk, coriander, lemongrass, ginger, garlic, turmeric), chickpeas, and lots of hearty veggies including sweet potato, served over perfectly chewy brown rice. -Raw tiramisu: I can't even. Espresso, chocolate, cream, crust. Just get it. The decor (like the restaurant) is based on Alice in Wonderland, with lots of anthropomorphized friends to appreciate. Pricing is reasonable for the quality and the quantity. If ever I move to Chicago just know it's entirely to be closer to Alice and her friends.

There's plenty of street parking in the area, I went on a Sunday, so meters were free. The interior is bright, green, and inviting, with lots of seating and great natural light coming in from the front windows. There's also outdoor seating, but it was a bit too cold the day we went, so we stayed inside. Service is counter-style, and the staff was very knowledgeable about the menu. It's fairly simple, but still fun and satisfying. I ordered an Impossible burger, tater tots, and a strawberry almond milk smoothie. My friend got fries, so I was able to try both. After over 40 days without fried food, I was especially excited for the tots and they did not disappoint. Overall, the food was good and solid across the board. Nothing that completely blew me away, but definitely satisfying. If you're vegan or vegetarian and craving a classic burger experience, this is a great option. The smoothie was good as well, though I personally prefer fruit-forward smoothies with lighter juices, so the almond milk base wasn't quite my favorite, but it still complemented the meal nicely. Overall, if you're looking for a casual sit-down spot with a cute atmosphere and a solid Impossible burger at a reasonable price, Elephant + Vine is a great choice. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Pricing - quite reasonable for a niche vegan taqueria. Portion sizes - appropriate. Flavors - spot on. I found out about the (potential) joys of elote after becoming plant based, and as such had not been able to try it until my visit to Penelope's. The corn itself is sweet and bursts delightfully between the teeth. The combination of mayo, cheese, tajin, and cilantro elevate the dish that much more. The veggies are also fabulous, but holy smokes - chimichurri perfection. Ah! I just found the problems, of which there are two. 1. There are so many options I wasn't able to try everything. 2.
