We got quotes…read morefrom multiple places though, and ultimately went with Epstein based on local recommendations, how knowledgeable and friendly they were, and the fact that their price lined up with what I was expecting. One of the quotes we received was from a big box store, and I do not recommend. On top of taking forever to receive, their specialist told us they couldn't do something that Epstein said was absolutely no issue. The two men who came to do measurements for Epstein Brothers were clearly professionals to the point that this was second nature to them - bouncing ideas off of each other on the spot, keeping me in the loop with their suggestions, making sure anything I decided on was something that wouldn't need to be changed down the road (for example, making sure we weren't redoing the downstairs bathroom anytime soon before they custom cut vinyl planks around the existing vanity and toilet). The installer that showed up was incredibly professional, efficient, and even helped my husband move a heavier object to make room for the new carpeting. The salesperson who helped us decide which carpet and vinyl we were going with in the showroom was also incredibly helpful. Not a single person was pushy, and they were all honest and upfront with what was and wasn't a good idea. We will definitely be going to Epstein when we inevitably need to redo the kitchen and upstairs bathroom. They earned a customer for life out of me!

I had flooring installed in May and have had only challenges and lack of timely communication…read morethroughout the entire process. Staff would not return calls or provide estimates as promised, requiring my having to initiate following up with staff on 5-6 occasions when they did not act congruent to their word. My floor was installed and it revealed knots and colors not depicted in the sample; I again had to pursue follow up weeks later to only be told the manufacturer determined that I should somehow have anticipated these knots and colors to exist in spite of the sample not even indicating in writing these potential variations and staff not educating me to this point. The contracted staff who actually installed the flooring itself were professional, thoughtful, considerate, and hardworking. They did a wonderful job on the floor itself. However, the floor is not consistent with my expectations and, even worse, main business staff fails to communicate in a timely way to resolve outstanding issues (such as needing to re-install a small molding piece that has been outstanding for nearly two months now). While I empathize that the business may be experiencing staffing limitations and transitions, the lack of communication and action turned an otherwise joyous renovation into a stressful and disappointing experience. I will not personally use this company for future renovations, which is disappointing.

We have dogs, and need a runner for the dog's security running down the stairs. We realized the stairs looked so good it needed a runner that was just as nice. A nice oriental pattern maybe? However, we have what I now realize is "pie steps" at the bottom landing - so that meant we could only do non-patterned runner - and the oak treads were too nice to allow that. So, we found Creative Carpet, because they could do the apparently IMPSSIBLE: custom weave a patterned stair runner so it flawlessly meets the pattern at the angles of our stairs! This was in 2011 - I'm writing this now in 2018 (almost 2019) because we're cleaning carpets, and the stair runner has held up so well - you'd never know it was installed 7 years ago! John & Eileen were very easy to work with, design choices, scheduling, custom in-place installation, and we even picked out a hallway runner for the upstairs. How could one project go so well and the second project end in disappointment?…read moreThe first hardwood floor installation in June 2025 was professional, no dust and job clean up was thorough, it was flawless. It went so well I decided to do another room. Two different workers came this time, July 2025 & asked where my 220 plug was. The worker plugged his wires into my dryer machine plug. I questioned why there was no plug on his machine only wires coming out & he said "it's ok" when they began to sand my new smoke detectors were blaring & I come upstairs to one worker standing in my living room, far from the room they were working on with a mask on in a cloud of dust saying "sorry, something wrong with the machine" and my smoke detectors were put into a bathroom. As a professional they should have prevented the dust from circulating throughout my house and if the equipment was faulty it should not have been used. As soon as the dust was circulating throughout the house the equipment should've been turned off until a working replacement was available. Apparently the sander had no vacuum bag attached, in the high humidity the dust settled & adhered to everything inside the house. The fact that the smoke detectors were blaring was additional proof that the workers created a hazardous environment in my house and judging by the layer of dust on my fan blades I used to clear the air my new smoke detectors are probably compromised. Also the baseboard heater was left dangling from the wall & I had to fix the holes from them ripping it off the wall to reattach properly myself. Also worth noting, I have found 2 live cockroaches so far in the rooms that were done. I'm not sure if they were brought in with their equipment or what, but I have never seen previously in my home. I felt my concerns expressed to Brian were not taken seriously and the only apology I received for the second job nightmare was from 2 of his employees and none from the owner of the business. If this happened on the first job, they would never have been hired for the second Job. I have other projects I'm looking forward to do, but will look elsewhere. I would give the first job 4/5 stars, but zero for the second.

I happened to be driving in Plainville when I spotted there was store on East Street. I went into there showroom, and was already right off the bat impressed. I explained I wasn't looking into replacing the floor, that I had oak, with no pet stains, and wanted them to refinish it. The owner, Brian Harding, came in within just a few days, and gave me a great estimate! He was very professional, honest, and right on point about a few nicks that were already on my floors. It was done in a fashionable time. His workers that came in were very polite as well. I would highly recommend Connecticut Flooring for any of your upcoming flooring jobs. I am defiantly hiring him again for my tile work that needs to be done in both my bathrooms, as well the next floor I want done for refinishing.
