I was disappointed they didn't have flooring targeting the lower-end market. (e.g. Hardwood laminate, carpeting, etc around $1/sqft) Their base price seemed to be around $2/sqft, running up to $10/sqft. I trust them when they say their prices on those items are cheaper than their competition. Unfortunately, in my particular industry, that's not exactly what I'm looking for. If you're in the market for what they're selling, I think it's probably worth coming by to check them out. Overall, they were friendly and helpful, and they had a pretty large selection to browse through. Plus, they donated some odds and ends to Habitat for Humanity, which was amazingly generous of them! I'll keep them in mind if I ever happen to need them again.

Apparently Prosource does not know enough about all the carpets they have. We bought carpet from Prosource and 4 groups of carpet installation experts recommended by Prosource came to our house to install but all failed. The first group of experts even quit right before the installation knowing that they were not able to handle this type of carpet. Basically all of them were not able to stitch the carpet together seamlessly, leaving the carpet with lines that are so obvious, which for sure is going to affect the usage, not mentioning the resale value of the house. Contacting Prosource did not help much in terms of fixing the issue because NO ONE is able to fix it. We had a couple of revisits from these installation experts trying to fix it but all failed without any improvement. And when we asked for partial refund or what they can do to mitigate this issue, they just went into mute mode. In addition, Prosource is not a BBB accredited company. You are on your own if you are not planning to go to court. Prosource was recommended to us by Coldwell Banker when we purchased our house. We are contacting Coldwell Banker regarding this issue as well. I do not know how to upload pictures but I will try.

The tile mechanic, Jose did a good job and was very accommodating and pleasant to work with. The floor refinishers were another story. Of the three workers he left on the job, one doing the edging continued working. The other worker listened to loud music, sat on the floor with a drink and loudly sang along with the radio and did a minimum amount of work. The drum sander was either inexperienced, untrained or careless because he started with a very coarse sandpaper but never moved to succeeding grits of finer sandpapers, which left deep scratch marks in the hardwood. As a retired CT licensed home inspector and licensed home improvement contractor, I felt qualified to evaluate this job. When I explained to Miguel why I wasn't happy with the job and asked him to re-sand the floor he refused and came back the next morning to add another coat of finish which did nothing to smooth out the scratches. When he returned the following day, I told him the floor was no better and again asked him to re-sand the floors which he again refused. I subsequently hired another floor refinisher who correctly re-sanded the floors and they came out beautiful. Two days later Miguel called me for a final payment. I told him I had fired him and hired another company to redo his job. He threatened to go into the house and rip out all the tile. I immediately called Meriden Police and explained what had happened and they called Miguel and told him if he entered the house he would be arrested, whereupon he left the property. In addition, Miguel left many bags of sawdust, tile and tile cement on the front lawn and in the house which he had promised to remove. I cannot recommend this company.

We went into the process knowing almost nothing. Mark slowly walked us through the whole process- what types of wood we could choose, coming to our house to do an initial look (free), and then setting up delivery AND installation of wood. The entire process was hands-free for my family. His installers were QUICK (two days!), friendly, and most importantly CLEAN (they left almost no sign they were there!). All the old stuff hauled away, AND they were able to move the big pieces of furniture around while installing! We had one other quote before going to South Broad, and I can say their price was extremely competitive (especially considering they are willing to move furniture).

The words that come to mind when I think of South Broad Paint & Home Center are...just don't. We…read morebegan our renovation in late April and were told it would take between 3 and 4 weeks. Now at the end of Week 9, we are finally able to begin using the kitchen. Our renovation consisted of a new floor, painting of the cabinets and walls, a new countertop and sink, dishwasher instillation, and instillation for 4 new (pre-finished) cabinets. In total, there were approximately 10 days over those 9 weeks when work was actually being done. Yes, you read that correctly. 9 Weeks, 10 days of work...that's 53 days of absolutely nothing! The rest of the time was spent tracking down the so called 'contractor' to find out who was coming to do what and when. After making an $8k payment, we were told the work would begin the following Monday. When Monday came and went without even so much as a phone call, we called to see what the issue was. We were told we were supposed to call when the wallpaper was taken down (we agreed up front to take it down on our end). If this were the only communication issue throughout the project, I would said say it was just a misunderstanding however, this was just the tip of the iceberg! The sub-contractor finally came, and they took up the old tile and laid the new. After a couple of days without a call or email, we had to reach out to the contractor again on next steps. This was the common theme throughout the entire renovation. We had to follow up each and every time with the contractor to get anything done. We also had to advise each of the sub-contractors on what they had to do as they arrived, they were not briefed before they got there. When the carpenter came to install the dishwasher (new to the space), he told us that when the countertops were put on, we'd never be able to get the dishwasher out. The reason for this being that the contractor never told the tile sub-contractor to take out the existing subfloor. Instead, they laid a new one over it raising the floor more than an inch! We were told that we'd have to raise the height of the cabinet to avoid having to take the countertop off down the line if the dishwasher needed a repair. This was something that could have been completely avoided had the contractor advised his team correctly. The contractor then tried to charge us approximately $400 for this work. Nearing the end of the project, it was evident that the ceiling had not been painted. We called, and the contractor said he'd call the painter to 'have him put another coat on'. When the painter arrived, he asked what was needed so we explained (as usual). He told us that the contractor never told him to paint the ceiling!' Every step of the way was nothing but a headache and it was obvious that we were 'small potatoes' for this contractor. The lack of communication and continuing empty promises made this process an absolutely nightmare. I would recommend this company only if you like the idea of being your own foreman!
