The first flooring company we used to install the family room floor 20 years ago set up their chop saw in the family room and didn't block off the room from the rest of the house. We were cleaning dust from the entire house for months. Bischof closed off every room, set up their equipment outside and did a great job. They came exactly when they said they would, they did the work expertly and we are very pleased with the entire experience.

They gave us a cap on the number of stains to show us and one of the guys actually took white paint and splattered it on the floor and told us that was what white washed was. When challenged he just stared at his phone and refused to engage. Half way through the project we also realized we already had white oak on part of our floors once the carpets were ripped up and Joe's team took the new white oak WE had paid for without even asking us and did not adjust the price after we asked a number of times to see a revised quote. The old floor looked completely different to the new floor that was installed on half the floor. When we reached out to Joe to question this and also finish the job (his team left unfinished sections of the floor and all the shoe moulding), he ghosted us. The worst customer experience - would not recommend. If I could give negative rating I would!

But there was a problem from the beginning! The truck-based cleaning system broke down in my driveway, actually it was the onboard generator that runs the cleaning equipement. Walter, the cleaning technician was stranded here waiting for a new truck to be delivered. We chatted for some time, nice guy! The replacement truck was delivered by the owner of the company, Adam. He apologized to me for the inconvenience and shook my hand. I watched Walter work now and then, he cleaned, used neutralizer and smelled the loveseat cushions over and over. He did the cushion cleaning outside on a ground cloth! I waited 4 days to write this review; I wanted to make sure the Pee Smell was gone in both cases. So when we decided to install additional wood flooring, we knew exactly who to call. As expected, the sales process was outstanding. The team took the time to educate us on various options, clearly outlining the pros and cons of each. They even came to our home three separate times to help us select the perfect product. After the floors were installed, we noticed some issues--the floor creaked and felt spongey in certain areas. Neal's responded immediately, coming out the very next day. They quickly acknowledged that something wasn't right and took swift action to address it. Ultimately, the issue was traced back to the material itself. That didn't matter to Neal's. They took full responsibility, sourced new material, removed the entire floor, and reinstalled everything from scratch--all within two weeks to minimize our inconvenience (their words, and they meant it!). There was no spin, no finger-pointing, and no talk of additional costs. Just accountability and action. It's easy to praise a company when everything goes according to plan--but what truly sets Neal's apart is how they handle things when they don't. The Hardwood Guys installed floors in 80% of our house and refinished the rest. Aside from 3 dents…read morefrom oil cans in our brand new floor, we were very happy with the end result. Even now, we think they did an outstanding job laying new hardwood and sanding. However, 1 year later the floors were showing a lot of wear after supposedly using 3 coats of Duraseal oil based polyurethane. 4 years later we now have to refinish our floors. In multiple areas the color has completely worn away and in some other areas it's peeling. I even reached out to Duraseal to find out if this lack of durability is expected. They told me that it's possible if they didn't apply enough layers, didn't give it enough time to dry between layers, or applied it too thin or thick. Since we were not living at the house when the work was done we couldn't monitor this. Since they were sloppy enough to dent our new floor with cans, they could've been sloppy applying Duraseal. The companies coming in to quote us to refinish our floors are flabbergasted at the amount of wear in such a short period of time. Every vendor said it looks like they didn't apply enough coats. I'm not sure what the actual reasoning is. Hardwood Guys had competitive pricing. However, it cost us more in the long run. Now, we have to pay a second time, deal with dust, VOCs, and smell, in addition to being displaced with a young child to redo the work that should've been done properly in the first place.

The entire process of dealing with this company was top notch professional from the initial home visit consultation to the actual job itself. The 2 workers sent to the house were so amazing: respectful, presentable, hardworking and very good at their job. They plastic covered everything and advised me how best to set the A/C and windows for maximum drying. They came several days in a row and were easy to deal with regarding scheduling. Lastly, their price was super! No wonder the Property Brothers like this company. I will definitely use them again for future projects.
