I really wanted hardwood but my wife wanted vinyl plank for its durability and low maintenance. I wasn't convinced (imagining the old kitchen rolled vinyl) but we went to the showroom at Royalty Carpet & Flooring. Tom (the owner) was very informative about the benefits and drawbacks of each kind of flooring and I was shocked to see how nice the vinyl plank flooring was. I changed my mind and have no regrets. Tom is a true flooring expert. He purchases the flooring from the manufacturers, is there to help you select your flooring and also installs it for you. This gives him the unique perspective of having intimate knowledge of the quality of materials that will be used during installation and he can advise you on what you will get for your money better than any big box store. He also has a great staff and they are also very knowledgeable. Royalty's prices are also very competitive against the big box stores. Royalty was actually LESS expensive than the big stores and outlets for this flooring. You get so much more for your money than just good material. With Royalty you receive the best installations (I have never had any issues with all of the installations over the years. They've been perfect) and SO MUCH BETTER SERVICE!

How could one project go so well and the second project end in disappointment?…read moreThe first hardwood floor installation in June 2025 was professional, no dust and job clean up was thorough, it was flawless. It went so well I decided to do another room. Two different workers came this time, July 2025 & asked where my 220 plug was. The worker plugged his wires into my dryer machine plug. I questioned why there was no plug on his machine only wires coming out & he said "it's ok" when they began to sand my new smoke detectors were blaring & I come upstairs to one worker standing in my living room, far from the room they were working on with a mask on in a cloud of dust saying "sorry, something wrong with the machine" and my smoke detectors were put into a bathroom. As a professional they should have prevented the dust from circulating throughout my house and if the equipment was faulty it should not have been used. As soon as the dust was circulating throughout the house the equipment should've been turned off until a working replacement was available. Apparently the sander had no vacuum bag attached, in the high humidity the dust settled & adhered to everything inside the house. The fact that the smoke detectors were blaring was additional proof that the workers created a hazardous environment in my house and judging by the layer of dust on my fan blades I used to clear the air my new smoke detectors are probably compromised. Also the baseboard heater was left dangling from the wall & I had to fix the holes from them ripping it off the wall to reattach properly myself. Also worth noting, I have found 2 live cockroaches so far in the rooms that were done. I'm not sure if they were brought in with their equipment or what, but I have never seen previously in my home. I felt my concerns expressed to Brian were not taken seriously and the only apology I received for the second job nightmare was from 2 of his employees and none from the owner of the business. If this happened on the first job, they would never have been hired for the second Job. I have other projects I'm looking forward to do, but will look elsewhere. I would give the first job 4/5 stars, but zero for the second.

I happened to be driving in Plainville when I spotted there was store on East Street. I went into there showroom, and was already right off the bat impressed. I explained I wasn't looking into replacing the floor, that I had oak, with no pet stains, and wanted them to refinish it. The owner, Brian Harding, came in within just a few days, and gave me a great estimate! He was very professional, honest, and right on point about a few nicks that were already on my floors. It was done in a fashionable time. His workers that came in were very polite as well. I would highly recommend Connecticut Flooring for any of your upcoming flooring jobs. I am defiantly hiring him again for my tile work that needs to be done in both my bathrooms, as well the next floor I want done for refinishing.

Their years in this business has only gotten better from idea to completion. Now the entire house has been done by them and I couldn't be happier. Brendan sold me the right flooring to complement my other coverings and George, the installer, was phenomenal and worked by himself. Can't say enough about this business.

However, the $800 estimate became a quote for a $3000 luxury brand carpet (Masland) that, when installed, was two sample-swatches lighter than the swatch from which we ordered; color varied from one part of the carpet to another depending on lighting; and it shows footprints when walked on. See photo. A color variance claim was denied by the manufacturer, based on comparing their roll to a scrap of the carpet they sent us rather than comparing to the swatch provided before ordering. None of these possible complications were explained to us in advance. The installation was excellent, though.

(Lynyrd Skynyrd) After we had our hardwood floors and steps sanded and refinished, we decided to pretty up those steps with a carpet runner, which explains why we visited Galaxy Discount Carpet Store today. That decision ended up being a FIVE STAR experience. Their two floor showroom is just incredible! Sample boards, rolls stacked on the floor in rows, area rugs hanging from the ceiling, gorgeous stuff everywhere. We met with Charlie and explained to him what we were looking for. He said that staircase runners can either be pre-manufactured in big rolls, or custom cut from carpeting meant for rooms. We knew we wanted a runner in some shade of gray to complement our wall color, and decided on a carpet runner to be cut from a big grayish roll and then finished with black binding along the edges, to complement the black stair rail and contrast with the white stair risers. It was installed 72 hours later, and that was pretty amazing in it's own right. Communication with Galaxy was great. Charlie was a dream to work with, the installers called us the day before install to confirm the date and time window, and the van with two workers arrived as scheduled mid-afternoon and did a neat professional job on the install. Charlie's price was $140 less than one we had from a flooring company out in our neck of the woods, and the carpet quality was better at Galaxy. Everything went well, and the stairs look great!
