The customer service is piss poor. I called today to understand availability to work on my Dynafit Beast Carbon Boots. The guy that answered was a complete jerk. He said they are pretty busy this weekend but I could try to bring them in on Sunday - perfectly understandable. I asked what time they opened and he responded with, "We open at 10am, not 9:59am." Huh? I guess that stemmed from some rude customer, but there was no need for some condescending attitude. Apparently sporting goods store cashiers tell better time than every other human on earth. Regardless, it was enough to lose my business. Check out Sturtevant's in Bellevue - it's worth the extra mileage for non-jackass employee encounters. read more

If you want to pay 2x the price and get met with some terrible customer service this is your spot. Got fitted for boots that are $400 online/Evo, but somehow $700 here. Got met with a pretty harsh attitude when I asked if they price matched. $50 for custom boot molding as well. Went to Evo got the same boots for $350 with free molding, and cheaper mounting of bindings, etc all with way better customer service. read more

Awesome service! We needed rental boots on a busy holiday weekend and at 1pm on Saturday in a packed store, the employee took time to sort us out. Other ski shops in the area either did not provide weekend rentals if you go on Saturday, or only offered weekly or seasonal rentals. How do I love thee, Pro Ski? Let me count the ways: 1. Knowledgeable, friendly, AMAZING customer service. Love the new owners. I got my kids' skis, boots, poles etc. for the season and they hooked me UP. I got updated gear at a decent price and Taylor was patient and kind to my children, who were bouncing off the walls that day. He's good dude. 2. My friend just took her kid there and they hooked HER up for a decent price. And, what's more, they had her new skis (complete with adjusted bindings) ready on the SAME DAY so that our friend could go skiing with us the following morning. And they were BUSY. But they did it anyway. Why? Because they're awesome. 3. It's just plain fun to be there, in all of that cozy, ski-loving goodness. The energy there is great. Lots of humor and good (ok some bad) jokes made by fellas who clearly know and love what they're doing. The folks at Pro Ski seem both glad and grateful you've chosen to do business with them. Personally, I feel annoyed when I spend money in a place and the employees act like they are doing me a favor. You will feel happy you are helping keep this little place in business. My wife and I went for a ski boot fitting here and couldn't have been more impressed. 1. Mike and Tim were super friendly and helpful. They had great energy and even looked after our kids while we were fitted. 2. These guys are amazing. Originally found them when Evo wanted a full week to mount my skis. Theses guys turned around one pair in 10 mins. Then... I have had problems with the boots I bought at Evo, that had been adjusted by Evo. I now live out of state but stopped by on the way to Whistler b/c I trusted them. In a split second, the ProSki guy, who I told I hated my boots, informed me that I had been sold a slightly large boot. He put in a few inserts and my boots no longer torture me. They could have sold me new boots but instead they gave me a simple fix, and after 4 days I can say it worked!! Thank you!! read more

These guys know there stuff when it comes to tune ups and repairs. My wife and I got back from skiing in the Rockies over Christmas, and our fat skis got pretty eaten up by the rocks (snow coverage is not as good in the rockies early in the season). For the cost of a $50 tune, Pro Ski filled in all the scuffs with p-tex (they had to use quite a bit), sharpened the edges, stone grind on the base, and topped it off with a hand wax. I give Pro-Ski 5 stars for their equipment, knowledge, and ski shop services. And, give them 3 for their average (but not bad) employees' customer services and salesmanship (agree with the other reviews that they may not be friendliest shop in town). So, it nets out to a 4. Bottom line, Pro Ski knows their stuff, their ski shop services are top notch, for a pretty great value. I'll definitely continue to use their services. read more

One of the owners performed a quick fix on a pair of boots I bought on line so I could keep skiing while I waited for the the boot manufacturer and the online retailer to send me the replacement parts. I had visited the store a number of years ago. And I had liked the advice the sales person offered. Recently I decided to get new skis and had this business in my site. Along with REI and Evo my website search could not satisfy the info I needed. Pro Ski is located near my location and when I went in Michael Long took the time to pick out a ski and binding that he felt was needed. And I did my homework visiting YouTube sites with reviews and I became confident this was my ski. I had the same confidence when I lived in Sun Valley while buying skis, boots etc. The salesperson was an older Austrian who I had connected with close to 20yrs. before. This guy was great- skiing is in his blood! It's great to feel confident that the advice you are getting will make your skiing as pleasurable as possible. I get the same vibe at ProSki as I got in SV. Give them a visit. And their prices were spot on with the competition. read more

My experience at ProSki today has brought me out of review-writing hibernation. This was my first time trying out seasonal ski rentals for my kids and I was imagining a painful, prolonged experience. Instead, from the minute we walked in the door, we were met with smiles and plenty of help & attention. My kids were quickly sized for boots & skis, and had fun chatting with the staff. We then got great help with goggle selection, which I appreciated .. with Mike and the team happily zipping downstairs to bring up additional sizes & colours for us to check out. A few years back when ProSki Seattle split off from ProSki in North Bend, I was wondering whether they were going to be able to keep up the same great service. Well, my question has been answered: absolutely, yes, the service is better than ever. Twice now I've taken in my light-weight touring boots for repair. I did originally buy the boots there, but they are long out of warranty and have broken because I've abused the crap out of by skiing the lift-served areas in them (I know, I admit it, I've been too lazy to walk uphill). Both times, they've fixed the boots up for me quickly, with only a nominal charge for the parts and labor. I couldn't be happier with the great service. read more

They wouldn't even talk to me unless it was to sell me new boots, even WITH an appointment. I wanted to get an evaluation about my current boots and if needed, replace them. They wouldn't so much as have a look, even with an appointment, and preferred to quibble over the statement on the website that says boot appointments are for purchases only. This is a pretty unusual stance to take when evaluating my current boots may very well result in a boot sale, but I suppose they're doing so well financially they don't see the need to spend 15 or 20 minutes having a look. Very surprising attitude for a small business. I will not do business with a company who essentially tells me I am of no value unless I'm spending $600 I have never encountered a ski shop in my 35 years skiing, particularly one presumably employed and owned by fellow skiers with what you'd like to believe a shared love of the sport, that wants you to promise to buy something before they'll dispense their expertise or offer suggestions. To not feel a customer on your doorstep is worth 20 minutes of your time when they drive an hour to get to you and be on time for their appointment on a Saturday morning, is just a shocking position to take. Perhaps a suggestion if they can't find the time for customers...try opening before 11 o'clock. As a result of their rejection, I drove down the street to Evo who accommodated me even without an appointment. They then evaluated my boots and made some adjustments, and told me if any further adjustments were needed it would be at no charge. It took 35 minutes of time and my bill was $70. $135 an hour ain't too shabby, but it's still not enough for ProSki. Also, where do you think I'll go next time for any of my needs? My advice is to go to a ski shop that loves skiers first, and considers them customers second. The day you take the position of "60 bucks an hour doesn't pay the bills" (direct quote) and can't see that it's not about the 60 bucks but the 600 or 2,000 that could follow, is the day you have failed as a business. read more

Recently had a bad experience here. We went back country skiing at Mount Baker on Feb 14 & 15th. Rented all equipment at Pro Ski Seattle. My daughter booked all equipment a week in advance and pre-paid the rental. When picking up rental equipment, I tried on boots and fit was not great, but I had no other choice. Store did not check to see if skins fit skiis, Being a rookie back country skier I was not wise to do this myself. Turned out the skins were too wide and too long for the skiis. AND being unaware that daughter had pre paid, I was charged again for the rental. Need less to say my first day was miserable as it was too late to get other skins and the fact they were too wide made grip on steep slopes hazardous. Store did pay for rental of skins from shop near Mt. Baker and only offered an apology. Bad service deserves a cash refund. None was offered. read more

I might buy new gear once a decade. I'm overdue, so based on the good reviews and the fact that it's a locally owned shop which we always try to support, my wife and I went in to start shopping for new ski boots for ourselves. Skis/poles will be next year.... Small shop, 2 or 3 customers milling around. Look around for 5 minutes. Still haven't noticed an employee. Looking at boot selections. See there's a list posted on the wall of the available models and pricing. Now keep in mind, I don't make spontaneous decisions about gear. If anything, I over analyze every conceivable option. I'm not going to walk into the first shop I see and buy whatever the bro-bra points me to without going home and researching the heck out of it and likely going to try other product lines at other shops. So I pull my phone out and snap a photo of the model list so I have it available for research later. "HEY, what are you doing?" from behind me. Not inquisitive, or helpful, but accusatory. "Taking a picture of your model list." I say. The bro-bra, clearly perturbed, says "Why don't I just print it out so you can go shop online then." I say, "Are you serious dude?". "yeah, kinda....". Zero interest in earning my business, so I left (after a couple choice words) and dropped $800 the same day somewhere else. Lesson to bro-bra judgemental d-bag: in today's world of info-at-the-fingertips and online shopping, the last thing you want to do as a small shop is miss out on a chance to earn new customers by being a d-wad and dishing out attitude for no good reason. Notice I used the word "earn". Just because you are a small local shop does not mean you are exempt from having to earn my business. At the very least, attempt to adhere to some minimal standard of customer service (or in case that concept is foreign to you, do the exact opposite of what you did today). read more

They killed a pair of skis and the owner tried to weasel out of dealing with it!! I'm not kidding you... I brought in a pair of skis to be mounted and in the process they dimpled the base. (Which means that they drilled too far into the ski and the screws popped out the base itself... it's an irreparable mistake.) When I went to pick them up, the owner stepped away from a client to let me know that they had made an error in mounting the skis, they had pounded it back but if I looked closely I'd be able to tell, and told me to come back mid-season or something and they'd hook me up with a free tune up or something else. (I can't remember his name... the shorter one. The tall guy was actually great to deal with.) I naturally assume the best in people, so I didn't suspect anything out of line was going on. I also have enough miles under my belt to know that you can screw things up (drill a hole in the wrong place & fill it, etc.) and - even though it doesn't look as nice - keep the ski totally skiable and whatever... life is full of mistakes so I don't get hung up on this sort of thing. HOWEVER... when I got home and took a closer look, I discovered the extent of the damage... they had drilled all of the holes too deep, the base was completely rising, and there was literally a screw head that I could feel in the base of my ski. For anyone who doesn't know... this mistake literally kills the ski... there is no way to repair the base from this level of damage and it more than calls for the shop to replace the skis. No, I've never asked anyone to replace a pair of skis before - this is hands down a full replacement situation. So I contacted him to let him know I'd taken a closer look and that the damage was more extensive than I had assumed and that we needed to work it out. Then he started trying to weasel out of it... He tried to blame it on Black Diamond (the binding manufacturer), he tried to blame it on Volkl (the ski manufacturer), he tried to tell me that if I really wanted them replaced, that he was going to file for a warranty with BD and that it would be months, if ever that they came through with it. BS like that. I admit, I'm a bit timid in confrontation, so I took this information to ponder and to check out with others. I've been skiing seriously for many many years, and as a result I have good friends all over the ski industry - shops, mechanics, manufacturers, mountains... After running the story past several people, the unanimous feedback was that they killed the skis and that when this happens the shop delivers a new pair of skis to the customer. Ski mechanics are human & ski mechanics make mistakes, but you take your skis to a shop so that the work is backed up. If you want to shoulder the outcome of potential mistakes, then you take them to your own garage & do the work themselves. When I went back to him again with more research of the issue under my belt, he immediately backed off & replaced the skis. Like I said, I don't fault them in the least for making a mistake - mistakes happen. I do fault him for pushing the limit as far as he could and doing everything he could to weasel out of having to do the right thing upon making a mistake like this. I never should have had to even ask a question... What I should have received was a phone call when the mistake happened, that said "we're sorry, but we made an irreparable mistake when mounting your skis and we are ordering a new pair in. They'll be ready next week instead of tomorrow." End of story, integrity maintained, customer retained. The shop isn't bad in terms of the gear they stock. Decent gear for Seattle. But I don't plan to ever go back & I wouldn't recommend going near it to anyone else either. SHADY! read more

I had a pair of skis for my man that needed to have the bindings adjusted and they got it done on the spot even though they were clearly being overrun by customers wanting and needing everything under the sun for the upcoming weekend on the slopes. My ski boot was missing some hardware, so I called Evo in Fremont (where I bought the boot a year earlier) and they told me all they could do was send it back to Atomic for repair with a lead time of 8 weeks. I had a trip coming up in two weeks so this wouldn't work for me. Instead I took the boot here and they fixed it in 10 minutes with some similar hardware that works fine. The guy asked for $10 cash - and I only had $5, and he said that was enough and don't worry about it. These guys are very courteous and funny. This is the way customer service should work. The price of the tune & wax is excessive, but the service performed is adequate enough for me to return when I want a 'pro' resurfacing my edges. They over-edged my skiis two years ago and now I've probably got just one more season left on them instead of the three I knew I could squeeze. I was a little perturbed that this had happened, but they do good enough work and can turn it around quickly enough that the proximity of ProSki to my house is too much to pass up come November's initial tune run. The staff is knowledgable and helpful, but nothing outstanding. read more
