Solid place to pickup used outdoors gear especially now that REI has shifted to only having the perpetual bargain basement and no large garage sale events anymore. For me the best deals are on clothes, but you can definitely get gear/equipment too for good prices. They also have sample sales that are extremely popular, so if you're an average ish size these are worth checking out for "new" "used" clothes. The one thing I would steer away from is the bikes particularly if you're unfamiliar with the bike market: prices are high for used (compared to other shops with primarily used stock), and many of the employees don't seem to know even basic principles of bicycle sales (advantages/disadvantages of drop vs flat bar, appropriate sizing, etc) based on wildly incorrect info I've heard them tell other customers. The shop does seem to clean/service items before putting them on the sales shelf, which helps mitigate issues with broken parts, filthy boots, or weird-smelling clothes. They have a 30 day exchange policy. I've never done consignment here so I can't speak to that process. The overall atmosphere in the shop is clean, organized, and smooth-running, with sliiiightly less than average Outdoors Bro Culture(TM) vibes. read more

This store provides a great service and fills a need to keep quality gear in circulation. It is important to me to buy as few new items as possible so I go here first when I need gear. I am also a consigner and think they do a great job with that. I took off a star because of a recent experience whereby my partner purchased a pair of waterproof boots that in fact were in no way waterproof, and after some research into the style and brand, seem to simply be defective boots. Wonderland said they couldn't do anything about having sold us the defective boots, but offered that we could bring them back to consign. Set up an appointment to consign some apparel and gear online and the process was super simple. When we arrived, we checked in at the consignment section, they checked my driver's license and disinfected it and confirmed info to set up our account. Because of Covid, there's a plastic screen between us and the employee, and we have to hold up the items and do a bit of show and tell and answer questions before they agree to take the items and drop it in a box. From there, the box is quarantined for a few days, then they price the items and updates on their status appears in our online account. The actual retail portion is so awesome! There's everything you can think of, and some new packaged items like masks and camping gear as well. The apparel section is sorted by gender, size, color, and sections such as mid layers and outerwear. They also have new sample items from brands like Smartwool, so I got a packable puffer jacket from Odlo for 50% off, woohoo! In addition to apparel, they have skis, a large selection of boots, backpacks, sleeping bags, climbing gear, and much more. This whole store is full of brand-name consignment gear at reasonable prices. I was in the market for a new backpacking pack and found an Osprey Aura 60L in excellent condition for 1/3 of the retail price. They have a ton of gear such as sleeping bags, tents, and skis alongside clothing with brand names like Patagonia, Helly Hansen, and Smartwool. My review was for an experience that started over a month ago. Just went in today for the first time and dropped off two paddle boards for consignment. The overall process of getting the gear checked in and looked at and then signed up with their consignor process is very easy and fast. The shop is great, everything is nicely organized and prices overall seemed very reasonable. Looking forward to seeing how the consignment goes and will update with that experience. Update: One of my paddle boards sold within 2 weeks. The overall process has been streamlined and no issues. My online profile had updated with the total amount available to me. I swung by the store and chatted with the owner Ben, he explained how I could cash out. I am able to leave the amount in their system as store credit and can come back and purchase against it if I do that I get 10% more value of what I made or just cash out. So I left it there as we are always buying equipment and this is a great option to check out. Overall it's been a great experience! In regards to prices of items in store. We walked around this time looking at everything and honestly it's all still quality outdoor equipment. I would expect them to be picky on what they get in store to sell because obviously they want the item to sell. We saw things that were priced a bit higher but it was still cheaper than it being new and the overall quality looked good. They have a great diverse selection of stuff. I just got my 14-year old daughter outfitted with a backpack and sleeping pad. Employees of the store were super helpful (as well as another customer that had some helpful hints). I am a huge fan of this exchange, as it is quality merchandise in the store which is often only gently used. My daughters backpack was actually an overstock item, so it was brand new. You can consign your quality equipment for someone else to buy (and get store credit or cash back). It also has encouraged me to buy quality things, as I know there is a place where I can get some of that value back (or at least pass it to others). I'm tired of throwing cheap stuff into the dumpster because it is made so poorly and doesn't last. Finally, Wonderland makes accessing the outdoors just a bit less onerous. I had high hopes but I'm so disappointed in this gear exchange so far! The pricing for used gear is VERY high--in fact, today when I went in I found several used items (puffy coats, hiking pants, climbing shoes) that were more expensive than the same exact (new) items on REI's site. The climbing shoe prices are particularly ludicrous. $65 for a pair that's obviously been resoled several times. As an experienced buyer and seller at used gear shops all over the Northwest, I've never seen prices like this. I wonder if they might benefit from someone more experienced in climbing for pricing this gear? I'm not surprised that the items I exchanged with them haven't sold yet, as they're just too darn expensive. The store is also pretty picky about gear that they'll buy from you. Must be in-season and very good quality (even though I see clothes with holes on the shelves!). Too bad they don't have a back room or anything for out-of-season gear storage. I'm so bummed to see Ascent Outdoors closing. Hopefully, Wonderland Gear Exchange will improve with time! The employees are all SO nice. I've consigned several items there and they've always sold quickly and at a favorable price, and they've got a nice selection of used gear as well as new items such as backpacking food and other consumables. Yes, they're pretty picky with what they accept (and they'll often be maxed out on certain apparel categories), but that means you'll find a quality selection appropriate for the season.
