I came here when they first opened and got s mackinaw vest and a custom made tote that was gifted. I met Joey who is GREAT. He walked me through a CC Filson chore jacket and over the years he was a go to in anything Filson related. Jeremiah was also a go to for my winter needs. The knowledge of the craftsmanship and durability is unparalleled. Every staff that I chatted with including at the outlet are passionate and knowledgeable. It's nice to hear that many staff have put their clothing through the wringer and can share the story of the garment aged. Value, is paying for quality. I am friends with the Freeman owners and it made me happy to see the collaboration. I will have to say that the Filson brand is unfailing. It's unfortunate that Eddie Bauer and other outdoor brands just don't match. I wish post pandemic that many of the products weren't outsourced. I get it. I saw that there was too many one star reviews which almost made me buy from somewhere else so I felt the need to leave a review. I bought a tin cloth work jacket online and it came in about 2 days (i live 20 min from the manufacturing plant) but it was a size too big. I called in and they were able to put a jacket in the right size on hold for me for the day and after swinging by it took about 3 minutes to get everything switched over and I was out of there and happy. This place transports one back to the olden days, when things were made sturdy, meant to last, and you had to send a team of men in a disguised covered wagon on a 2-month long trip across the country to an undisclosed location where the bank buries its money underground, to bring you back the $100 for the shirt you returned that doesn't fit. Everything you get here will be top quality, except the customer service. But cool that you have a dog in the store...because that's what's really important in business. read more

I have been a loyal Filson customer for years. I own flannels, jackets etc...I was very excited to order a pair of High-quality Selvedge jeans! They came quickly, I put them on and thought they were great but only a bit too tight. Immediately took them off, put them back in the plastic bag and sent them back to get a larger size. Next is the amazing part! A week later a box arrives and it is my jeans???? Same pair with a typed letter saying that they detected a slight odor and could not accept the return? They were not on my body or in my house long enough to get an odor. Needless to say I am both disappointed and furious. I have tried to talk to someone for a week now and no luck. I received one email saying the decision was FINAL! Well, my FINAL decision is to never buy from Filson again even though I like their product. One of my favorite stores in Ballard. Filson only makes heirloom quality clothing and I've never regretted a purchase. I really enjoy everyone who works here and have been treated as friend they actually recognize when I come in. I'm sorry that a few reviewers had different customer experiences and all I can say is give them another chance, sometimes it's hard to be attentive to every customer when a store is super packed with people all the time. This place is uppity!!! My boyfriend and I went into the store on Black Fiday with his mom and dad and they were obviously picking people to help they thought had money. They offered to help his Dad and didn't even acknowledge us. They offered my boyfriends dad a beer or whisky and ignored us completely. It was clear they thought they would get a sale out of him and not us. Sadly, we wanted to spend money in their shop, but this pissed us off. We got no help and shitty treatment. If I could give Filson 0 stars, I would. I received a brand new 725$ bag as a gift and returned it the next day for store credit. The store could not issue the gift card but the manager said he would mail it to the warehouse in Seattle and they would contact me for the refund. Sounded strange to begin with but he assured me that was the process as he didn't want his store to take a 'hit'. Fine, no big deal. This is where it all goes downhill. I waited for a month and received nothing. I called their customer service, they said they never received the bag. Later that day, they emailed me confirmed they received the bag but their warehouse did not log it correctly. They said they would be processing an e-gift card that day. Days passed, I got nothing. I emailed back several times and heard nothing. I called customer service and they said they never received the bag. I chatted (online) twice with agents who said they received the bag, but they still needed to get with the warehouse to 'process' the refund. Again, they said that they would be sending an e-gift card right away. Days passed and again I received nothing. Apparently, processing a return/refund is ROCKET SCIENCE for Filson - this is just too hard for them. I called customer service again today and tried to escalate this issue to manager, but alas a manager would not be available until Monday. They don't work on the weekends. Shocker. This was a brand spanking new bag with tags, never been used at all. At this point, I have to believe that Filson wants to keep the 725$ AND the returned bag because it is now in their possession. This is beyond shady - it is theft and I would highly recommend staying as far away from this company. It has been over a month and a half and still no refund. read more

Came in and knew that I wanted one bag as my luggage was falling apart and wanted to upgrade to a Filson twill medium duffel. Met with Joey and he was extremely knowledgeable and showed me multiple other items that would fit my travel needs. Ended up going with the medium duffel, twill Dopp kit, and luggage tag. Buy it once and buy it for life is what I look for in any product; iron clad warranty. A buddy has had this bag for over 2 years and it still has held up like new. It was a bummer they didn't have the garment bag and suit cover in stock as I would like to check them out before buying. All in all a great experience. read more

Not. I repeat NOT a hipster douche hangout. I'm a 40 something dad so I can't even hipster douche it up if I want to. Filson has become, shall we say, popular amongst people who don't do the things that people who wear Filson usually do. Not Filson's fault. They're just riding that train. That being said these guys bring a nice element to Ballard Ave that hardens back to and celebrates the jurors of Seattle. They have a sweet collection, several items unique only To the Ballard locale which makes it worth a stop. Cool Hats and leather goods to boot. Very cool and helpful staff. And occasionally there's beer to be had. Anyway, I spent less on a short than I thought when I went to browse and they stopped me from walking out with a woman's shirt for me.
