Never bad. My first time I ordered a cesar and added grilled shrimp. Shrimp was pricey for the portion but butterflies and nicely cooked. Salad was a little too creamy and not zesty as I would have liked - I suspect it lacked anchovie and/or parmesan. But it was fine and the lettuce was crisp. I also got the banana bread which was kind of meh. More like a burned cake than a succulent banana bread. My second time I got the pasta chitara. Huge win for the four of us in the world who have a basil allergy because this was a rare red sauce without basil, and I will say service staff was great about handling my multiple dietary restrictions. However I did find the pasta a bit one note - it is intentionally smokey, which I love, but I felt like that kind of took over. The noodles themselves were nice. I followed up with an affogato which was deconstructed and therefore tactile and fun. I like it here. Like I said I come for cocktails and vibes and then will eat food if I'm hungry but that isn't the main draw. Recommend, therefore, for happy hour or late night drinks. Definitely a sexy spot for a drink or to work on your beat-inspired novel.

When my salmon sandwich arrived, I found multiple bones in the fish. I'm incredibly grateful I noticed them before swallowing, because they could have caused a serious injury. This is something that should never make it to a customer's plate. The service only made matters worse. Our waitress rarely checked on our table, and we had to wave her down several times just to get basic assistance. She spent much of her time on her phone, never refilled our water, and seemed completely uninterested in helping us. What was especially upsetting was that we were the only people of color in the restaurant, and it genuinely felt like we were treated differently from other customers. I can't say for certain what the reason was, but the lack of attention, poor service, and the way we were treated left us feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable. Dacha Beer Garden is an interesting set-up. Walk up to the host stand and get your hand stamped before gaining entry to the dining area; more on the hand stamp later. The interior is ginormous and the "walls" are heavy duty plastic with the center of the room having an open ceiling for natural lighting. This being summer, it was a thousand degrees, but all of the fans on the highest setting, did a good job of circulating the air. Dacha does have one of the better Happy Hour deals for DC (see picture for current specials). I came with a large group of 10+, so we all ordered a bunch of items to share. I sampled the blood orange hefeweizen, which was slightly citrusy and added brightness to the smooth wheat beer. The fried shrimp was surprisingly delicous and tasted quite fresh. I was expecting reheated previously frozen and heavily battered shrimp; but this was not the case. Each piece had a nice snappy bite and lightly battered with good seasoning. I would've liked more of the dipping sauce, but a squeeze of the roasted lemon gave some needed acidity. Also snacked on some of the curry wurst, which tbh was waaay too sweet. Fries were good though and not soggy. Service was a bit slow, but to be expected since I only observed three servers for the entire dining space. The runners did an admirable job of delivering food/beverages after we placed our orders. Regarding the hand stamp, the restrooms are located directly across the courtyard at Jackie (https://www.yelp.com/biz/jackie-washington-4?osq=jackie%27s). So you'll need to show the host at Jackie the hand stamp to use the facilites and then again to return to Dacha. Even if I wasn't in Navy Yards for a Nats game, I would return to the Dacha Beer Garden. We all had an enjoyable experience, but the only slight detraction is the non-Happy Hour prices are on the higher side. But this is only a minor gripe since that's any place in 2025 when dining out. Of course, Dacha is expected to be loud, service somewhat slow, and usually crowded. All the things a good beer garden should be.

The $90 brunch spread was absolutely worth it--beautiful seafood displays, cocktails, sweets, and more food than we could possibly finish. Everything tasted fresh, well-prepared, and plentiful without sacrificing quality. One thing that really stood out was the service. One of my friends doesn't drink, and our server went out of their way to create a special Caribbean-inspired mocktail just for him so he could still feel included in the fun. Such a thoughtful touch and exactly the kind of hospitality that makes an experience memorable. The team stayed attentive throughout the entire meal, and we never had to wait for anything. Water glasses stayed full, plates were cleared quickly, and the pacing of everything felt seamless even with how busy brunch service can get. By the time we left, we were completely stuffed and happy before heading down the street to AMC for the Michael Jackson film.
