Came here for the LA cookie crawl on national chocolate chip cookie day. The chocolate chip cookies were decent but expected more. Although, there pastries and savory bites looked really good and people here seemed to love their coffee. Heads up, this shop does get a line around the door at 9:30am on a Saturday so be prepared lol

Oooey goodness

I never venture to this part of town but when in the area I have to stop by proof bakery. The bakery is small and usually has a line but the line moves quickly. I am a big fan of their sweets and occasionally order a cake when I have time but the main highlight for me is their chocolate chip cookie. The chocolate chip cookie is a must get in my opinion and it's one of if not, the best cookie in LA which is a bold claim. Store is very nice with decor and staff is always friendly. Waiting for the day when they open a store on the west side!

Clockwise from the top left: Ham and Gruyère croissant, morning bun, Chive and Gruyère biscuit

Cute shop in a cute area. All of the pastry options looked really good and the four I decided to try were as good as they looked. Ham and gruyère croissant was flaky, flavorful, and each ingredient seemed well balanced. The chive and gruyère biscuit was dense, but it wasn't dry at all. Again, tons of flavor packed in. The morning bun and chocolate chip cookie were perfect sweet but not-too-sweet treats to round everything out. I really liked that the chocolate in the cookie was more on the semi-sweet/dark chocolate side and the cookie itself was slightly crispy on the edges and soft in the middle. Just what I wanted.

My group went on a chocolate chip tasting day and this was one of my favorite chocolate chip cookies of the day. My sister and I also grabbed a ham and cheese croissant and the croissant was the best croissant I have ever had. I do wish it had more ham and cheese because there wasn't enough to notice them but still overall, delicious

Delicious!!!

A regular at Proof and can never get too tired of trying their baked goods! Everyone is really friendly, their baked goods are delicious, their coffee is great and they sell out fast! Small hidden gem with great prices.

Gateau de Savoie

8/20/2025 Went last Friday before noon. Been a long while since I've last been here. But it's my first review on Yelp. Lemon Verbena Blackberry Napoleon - Good blackberry flavor, the blackberry cream was not overly sweet either. Love the light crispiness of the puff pastry layers that were thin, yet flaky. The napoleons I've tried are usually more thicker puff pastries that you have to cut into with a knife, but this one was easily eaten without one. It was perfectly delicate and it was a nice surprise. Love the sugared lemon verbena on top. It had a beautiful herbacious citrusy flavor. Gateau de Savoie - Mango was the fruit! Thought it was peach. I was a bit disappointed to find out. Not sure why I didn't ask first. Fluffy and spongy cake. Top was a light meringue crunchy texture. Did have that eggy taste, which I don't like. Whipped cream filling but had a slight cream cheese like sourness to it. Didnt love it. I'm skipping this next time. Pain Au Chocolat - Excellent! Very flaky and buttery. This was so good, I did not stop eating until I finished the whole thing! The bittersweet chocolate was good too, but wish there was a bit more. If I had to compare to the chocolate croissant at Artisanal Goods by Car, I think they win overall. But this is a very close second! Corn & Pepper Biscuit - This was disappointing. It was a bit dry in some areas. Was a bit confused when I ate it as my whole mouth was underwhelmed. It tasted like a corn biscuit with pieces of pepper in it, I thought it was thinly sliced salami or something at first. Really wanted a good biscuit and this was a big letdown. Customer Service - Overall it was good, professional service. Nothing exceptional. Parking - Street parking as always. I found neighborhood street parking on Garden Ave. after driving around the block twice. It's a bit confusing parking around this area. Not sure how they run businesses around here with few parking spots.

Excellent food! Love the service! Love the ambience! The cookies are phenomenal! I highly recommend a bakery! Chocolate chip cookies are to die for! If you have one last wish, go get your chocolate chip cookie from them! My picture doesn't do justice!

Devil's Food Cake
Michael G.

It's been awhile since we last dropped in and Proof is still a great stop if you're in the area. This visit was for post-lunch dessert- cake, coffee, and tea to go. The berry savoie was light and not too sweet while the devil's food cake was nice and chocolatey. Wish they had the espresso cake- hopefully it'll be on the menu the next time we visit!

Our 1 size for all extra hot lattes. Very good but this girl needs a larger option

"Wow ho, ho, it's magic, you know... Never believe it's not so..."especially when it comes to good coffee... It seems that I have been hitting up more new coffee shops this year rather than "Happy Hour" spots. What can I say...this girl LOVES her coffee and cocktails! This shop is located right next to "Out of the Closet," one of my favorite donation destinations so it's easy to find. The inside is small and you may have to wait for the line to move but it's worth it! The pastries are out of this world...freshly baked on the premises including assorted croissants, sandwiches, muffins and loafs. We ordered a cranberry/orange filled croissant that made my toes tingle it was sooo good, and a slice of the Lemon Poppy Loaf which was also very good. Ofc, I had to get my Extra Hot Latte to go along with my pastries. The prices for the pastries run between $4 - $6 and the coffee to go is around $5 and up depending on what you order. There is only 1 size cup which looks like 8oz (not big enough for me) hence the 4 stars. *No indoor seating. *Outdoor seating only in front *Service is very friendly *Meter parking and side streets if you can find it Definitely coming back. I just wish they offered 12 oz & 16 oz cups to go.

All reasonably priced and delicious!

It was getting late, so while I waited for the kid in the car at their activity, I went on The Heights website found an order form and placed an order for some sammies all in 5 minutes. I didn't even ask the hubs or the vegetarian kid what they wanted. I went with what I thought they'd like. 15-minutes later, I was picking the sandwiches up at the walk-in only shop. There was no line and better yet, they were wrapped up and ready to go when I walked in. The smiling lady asked if I wanted napkins or utensils. They have case after case of cold drinks so we picked out a couple of drinks, paid for those and left. It was easy and fast. Enjoyed the yumminess at home. I normally would save a half for another meal but my "Pasadena" hit the spot that I finished it up all at once. Quality bread, meats, cheese, fillings aka all the ingredients...to boot! PS the kid loved theirs and so did the hub. Thanks for making dinner: easy and delicious! There are no pictures because it was too delicious to take the time out and take any. Just order.

My lil monster loves the combination of cheese, mushrooms, and onion. The girls who work here are all very sweet. They don't mind a little conversation with you. I love that everything is made to order. I love that when I order a Big Kahuna. I know that my meat will be freshly cooked on the grill/griddle. Every time I come to the restaurant, it is spotless. Even when there were a bunch of elementary school, aged boys having lunch there, quickly after they left, they threw away their trash, and just after that their table was cleaned and sanitized. I like that I feel safe in this environment. I like that they take responsibility for the dining area. Parking here can be kind of difficult. There are 215 minute waiting spots in front of quite possibly two of the most busy businesses in this little strip mall but hey, at least there's parking.

Sometimes the food is a bit salty, but otherwise full of healthy options (10 + kinds of salad and veggie dishes) with decedent choices, too (extra cheesy lasagna). It's a self service restaurant, but also expensive. You set your own table and pour your own water glasses. Dinner for two with beverages is easily $85 or more with tip. There are no refills on drinks like iced tea. The upside of it being self service, is you can hang out as long and chat as long as you like. There is good chance if you do linger that you might order desert or a second small $10 iced tea (with tax and tip). It would be quite easy to spend well over $100 for 2, without table service... If it were a little less expensive, I would be a regular... but if it were less expensive then it would be hard to find a table because that whole neighborhood would be hanging out here.

During a…read morelazy afternoon after visiting the Pantheon in Rome, we had our first experience with All'Antico after taking a 5 minute walk down the road. They actually had 2 separate locations flanking the pedestrian road, so there were two long lines snaking out in opposite directions. While we were waiting in line, we bumped into a couple from Spain who were also visiting. They gave my wife some personal recommendations, advising we get the blood orange soda with our sandwiches. After getting said sandwiches (the La Paradiso), we nibbled on them while walking to Sant'Ignazio of Loyola Church, which is that cathedral where there's a mirror directed up towards the murals on the ceiling and a huge selfie line. Hot damn were those sandwiches good. The thinly sliced mortadella paired perfectly with that buttery, green pistachio spread. The only challenge for my taste buds was the mild oral trauma I sustained from punching through the crispy bread; your gums started to feel it by the time you devoured your sandwich. But we liked it so much that when we later took the train to Florence, we sought All'Antico again at their original location. I thought that would be my last experience with All'Antico (unless, of course, I came back to Italy). So imagine my surprise when later that year I heard All'Antico had coincidentally opened a branch in Los Angeles, although rather awkwardly situated in Koreantown. Even though we live 30 minutes away, we made the drive immediately. There was no way this remote All'Antico location, thousands of miles from Italy, would live up to the experience I had in Rome earlier that year. But I was mistaken. Not only is the taste spot on, but the bread they serve is actually chewier and removed the gum calisthenics I suffered in Italy. And yes, they also have the blood orange soda as well. It's a little weird their location is in Koreatown, but not a big deal; we'll usually do a bingsu run afterward. Just like their locations in Italy, All'Antico is small but they do have a small collection of bar seats, some of which overlook the staff as they're making your sandwich. Be mentally prepared though to take it to go depending on how busy it is. Parking sucks too; there's street parking only, but if you come on Sunday you don't have to pay. Every so often now, we'll make the 30 minute drive just to relive that slice of Italy we experienced nearly 2 years ago. Thankfully, not a lot of people recognize how good this place is yet, as the lines aren't crazy long like they are in Italy. For all the other Yelpers in on it too, let's keep it our little secret for now.

Lunch rush came around 1:30pm. The workers were kind and helpful, each working diligently to complete everyone's order timely. I ordered the Mamma Mia, Dante, New Yorker--with Dante coming out as my fav. Shoutout to their truffle sauce, light yet not overbearing! Loved to see how they only use focaccia that just come out of the oven, and they cut your sandwich's meat from the meat hunk on an order basis. Very fresh, never greasy. I thought the Dante and Mamma Mia could improve by adding just one more ingredient as a cherry on top, like a sort of nut (walnuts, pine nuts) or something that helps the sandwich spark. Would love to see a bit more arugula too. No public bathroom--closest one is probably Hmart across the street (needs a code). Parking is metered, but there's free neighborhood parking 1-2 blocks away if you're able to find a spot. There's a few seats (5-6) and a standing bar around the perimeter of the store. Also, the drinks are money but you can ask for a water cup for free.
