First time coming to this pro metric center and it was a smooth process. It's a nice flat first floor facility so it's easily accessible and detectable. There are two bathrooms and waiting room with full of lockers. Four big lockers and others are small. During the exam the temperature in the room got slightly hot and you can feel the music from the other facility but it was a small matter. The staffs are nice and let me go and out of the exam rooms easily for my break times. Overall, it was good! read more

This was my first time here as I was scheduled to sit for a 4.5 hr exam. I was scheduled to take the exam at 8 AM but showed up around 7:30 AM as it doesn't hurt to give myself some wiggle room. Boy am I glad I did as there were already a few people in front of me and I learned that if you weren't checked in before your exam cutoff time you can actually be denied from testing, yikes! So for those who are scheduled try to show up early if you can. Also, this location is QUITE strict and I found out the hard way that you can't wear any windbreaker material clothing so be sure to wear a cotton based one and preferably without pockets. Unfortunately the only jacket I had was this material but luckily I found an approved jacket in lost in found. Yes, I had to wear a stranger's jacket because otherwise I would be freezing cold without it. Oh and when I say freezing I mean this place is chilly, I think they said they keep the place at like 65. So, if you run cold like me be sure to bundle up in a cotton based sweater and pants. Also, be advised that each time you enter the testing area you will be screened as if you were going through TSA security. Actually they were more strict than TSA because in addition to being scanned by a metal detector, you have to put all pockets inside out, pull up your pants and shirt sleeves, and if you wear glasses they make you take it off to examine. Yeah, this place doesn't mess around when it comes to cheating! Oh and for those who are sensitive to noises, definitely bring some earplugs as the noise cancelling headphones provided didn't seem to block out much for me. This was quite distracting because not only were they tight fitting but I could still hearing my neighbor clacking away! Luckily despite all these snafus I still passed my exam so yay, but I do hope my experience helps some future test takers. read more

I took a 4.5 hour exam here this week, and overall it wasn't the procedures at this testing center wasn't the greatest experience, out of the multiple other Prometrics I've tested at. I arrived for my 8am exam at around 7:20am and a few people standing outside the door, with the interior of the building pitch black. This made me think the building was still closed so I waited in my car and got some last minute studying in until 7:30am. There is plenty of space in their big parking lot. When I walked to the door, there was a line of a few people - I learned that the center was only calling in 2-3 people at a time, to respect social distancing. The process for check in and instructions were slow, there was only two people working at the time. I didn't start my test until around 8:30am. You are given paper and a pen to use for scratch paper (if your test allows). You are able to ask for more paper at any time. You do have to wear your mask the entire time (COVID precautions). You are given noise-cancelling headphones if you would like to use them, but fair warning that you can still hear some sounds (door shutting, typing, talking). Something to note- they don't have any water dispensers in the waiting area. During my break, I asked if I could have a cup of water from the back room (their break room?) - they said I couldn't and proceeded to shut the door to the break room. So plan accordingly and bring your own water if needed. read more

I took a 4-hour global HR certification exam here and had a very positive experience, mainly because of the good people who staff it. Professional, and kind. My exam was at 10:45 and I arrived about 5 minutes early and went straight to the check-in desk. The facility is a modest, single-story business complex, and you have to drive around to the back to even find the front door for Prometric. But once inside, the foyer with its spring green painted walls is calming, and the bathrooms are clean and spacious. The AC runs super chill in summer, so you might want to at least wear sleeves. They have serious rules for good reasons. So, remember to bring your appointment email and ID, and read up on the routines - and you'll be fine. (I forget to bring a face mask, and they had a box of them, fortunately). I brought my own water bottle - like I do everywhere - and refreshed myself at my locker before the test began. The locker fit my steel bottle, and a good-sized tote bag. (I had some trouble finding the location due to wrong directions via computer map - but fortunately I had given myself an hour to get there (not something I normally do, but considering it was such a big event it was to cover contingencies, and boy was I glad). so I stayed pretty calm. The testing center is in the EAST side of the I-35, so if you're coming from the north you have to take the Woodward exit and do a u-turn). Happy exam! read more

I've been to this location 3 times now (all during covid) and the wait times to get inside and take the exam are ridiculous. Don't expect to actually sit down at your scheduled testing time. All 3 times, I've waited 30+ mins. I understand covid protocols and everything but it necessary to wipe down a chair and door, that isn't even touched, between every single person? I'd imagine this is a popular location and I can't figure out why there are only two people working at a time. The last thing you need before taking an important exam, is to anxiously wait to check in and sit down late for your testing time. Where are all those $200+ exam fees going? read more

None of the places where you take standardized computer tests are fun. And to market themselves to the varying testing bodies, they have to institute a level of security that makes the TSA seem friendly. So, none of these experiences are great. Having said that, this location is relatively painless. The staff tries hard to be friendly, knowing that everyone is stressed. The facilities are clean. There's restrooms available. And the lockers hold everything you brought in. And -- space permitting, if you show up early, you might get to start your exam early. Negatives -- they can sometimes be short on staff, which backs things up. Also, depending on what other tests are going on, you may be near a few people who are giving verbal answers. Also, during the week, parking seems to be at a premium. read more

What I experienced in this location has been bothering me so much. This dude working as a receptionist was very rude and grumpy. He told us to be quiet yet he was talking loudly himself. He obviously was not happy working there and trying to get back at us. We have been working so hard spending time and money to chase our dreams yet have to deal with people like him, who might have never taken a serious exam in his life. I was trying to tell myself to keep a good mood for my exam and not to be affected by him. I have never tested well. I just get the creeps and have anxiety attacks before any type of testing environment. In my industry, there are federal requirements for continuing education. No matter how long you have been in the biz.... So as usual I left it to the last minute, had a three month window. I hastily went online and booked my appointment for a Monday... What in god's name was I thinking?.... After a somewhat tame weekend, I awoke in a cold sweat, since today I had to go through the 3.5hr CE credits. I arrived at Prometric an hour early... I was worried that something horrible was going to happen on my way there, so I wanted to make sure I had ample "emergency" time on my hands. I checked in and they immediately let me know I could start early if I wanted. This was a stroke of genius... rather than sitting in the lobby area stewing, I was whisked into the security check and then to my computer to start the testing process. The facility is clean and well appointed. The test area, chair, monitor, cubicle was all fine and I did appreciate the headphones. I always have that great fear of getting the results, since you get the results immediately, so I generally will sit and allow the time to run out and it then terminates the test and gives you the ol Pass/Fail. Showed up to test 30min prior to my exam and after waiting for 30 minutes was notified that my test, along with 20 other people, is cancelled. The person working the front desk said they didn't have enough staff to accommodate opening the 2nd testing room and therefore had to send 1/2 of the people scheduled for testing away. Very poor organization and bad business practice. Apparently all Prometric Sites are independently owned and operated and even if you call the main customer service number they cannot speak to the reason for cancelling, or do much more than reschedule your exam. And they have little control over how each independent testing site operates. I tried calling the Prometric Site's direct number but was sent to voicemail stating the mailbox was full and to try back another time. In short, testing centers are already full of anxious, stressed tests takers and this experience showed me that the people running the center don't care about the nature of their business or how inconvenient their lack of professionalism is. DONT OVERBOOK! And communicate BEFORE the morning of the test date if you know you have overbooked. ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. You have 20 seats and 40 people standing in line. Do the math. read more

I never thought I would write a review about a testing center. This is for all of you out there just to kind of know what you will experience when you get to this testing center. This is the only prometric in Austin. It's located on the northbound side of I 35. It seems to have no problem with parking. Walking in, the staff seems to have no problem checking people in. You will be required to surrender your watch, your rings, your jewelry, and place everything you own in a locker. You will not be allowed to leave the building at all, or your test will be forfeited, so please bring snacks with you to keep your blood sugar normal, but you'll keep those in your locker and gobble them up during your break. You do not need to bring water as they provide plenty of freshwater from their cooler and paper cups to go with it. Be prepared for a very uncomfortable seating. I had to sit on a vinyl office chair that was as hard as a rock, the chair was missing stuffing, Or better put, the white stuffing from the chair was shredding out. Yuck. I had to get used to this, and plod on through my four hour test. I had to get used of having multiple numbers of cameras on the ceiling right above my head also. The plain bland room, also has a knack to causing drowsiness. I had to sit surrounded by people in different booths, and tapping fingers, shuffling feet, tongue clicking noises, and worse, burping. They do provide sound blocking earphones that I wore, so I could concentrate better on my test. BONUS: I passed the test! I am so happy I don't have to come back here! read more

It's a testing center like any other. Pat downs, lockers, the whole nine yards. Unfortunately, they make you wear a mask for the duration of the test (4.5 hours, in my case). It's very uncomfortable for me to do that and take my test, not to mention that it constantly fogs my glasses. Seems odd given that one is looking at a computer screen the entire time. You know, like 8 hours after you've shown up for the test you can't take. Let's all take a moment to recognize that 100% of the "customers" who come to this facility are coming to take a test (or in anticipation of taking a test). Meaning: the "customers" are probably stressed, anxious, nervous, and possibly disappointed during their time here. That being said, my experience at this location is basically the best that could be expected for a testing center. - Friendly Staff - albeit, a little frazzled and overwhelmed. But they did a good job keeping track of everyone and getting us all in to take our exams. Were supportive, encouraging, and calming - much appreciated considering the stress level in the room. - Clean Bathrooms stocked with feminine products - Comfortable seating in the testing cubicles - Well functioning computers/technology - Water available You will have to lock your things in a locker, empty your pockets, show your ankles and wrists, and get "wanded". But that's not unique to this testing center and the staff was respectful and courteous while doing it. I hope that I never have to come back to this place, but if I end up testing for another credential, I would not have any issue coming back. read more

If you are testing here you likely don't have the option to go elsewhere so hopefully this review preps you for what to expect. First of all, they didn't honor my approved pregnancy accommodation. They gave me 4 hours total for testing, tutorial, and survey when it should have been 4.5. Each person was ruder than the next and wasted my time while it was running trying to defend their actions! The guy at the front desk denied me easy access to water. While this may be their policy it certainly was unexpected on my end so keep that in mind. He also let me know that pregnant women can go for 9 hours with no food, water, or bathroom breaks. I'm amazed at his vast knowledge of what it's like to be pregnant considering he's male and not a doctor. He also wanted to see my testing accommodation form after he confirmed he had the info. You have to store your stuff in lockers. The last venue I tested at didn't have this requirement. The only lockers available were on the floor. Each time I needed water I had get up and down from the floor pregnant. To take a break you have to sign in and out. It's like a 5 step walk to the bathroom, but they still make you do it. You have to show your ID each time and they spend time verifying your signature matches your ID each time. It's super dramatic. Also, wear shorts! I wore a maxi dress and I had to hike my dress up in front of a camera each time to prove I hadn't stashed anything around my body or written answers in the 1 minute I was in their sight. When I went to leave some random woman that works there got super sassy with me about the testing accommodation. This was already after I said I would address the time and water miscommunications with the certification board. At that point there was no need for sassafras to intervene. She wouldn't stop talking so I finally asked if I could leave. In short, super rude bunch of folks there with very limited knowledge about the logistics of your test. *SHRM did confirm that Prometrics did not honor my testing accommodation. Taking a test here is like visiting an inmate in prison. You have to leave all belongings in a locker, use bathrooms before going in, show empty pockets, pull sleeves up, show no knives (answers??) are hidden anywhere on your body, give your fingerprints, sign your name, have your picture taken, and then they wave that wand over all parts of your body to make sure you do not have guns?? So, right off the bat, you feel like a criminal with a halo. Which is a hell of a way to start a 6 hour exam. read more

This is an excellent site. If you're looking at different testing centers and trying to decide and/or you're very particular about ambient noise, poorly controlled room temperature, breaks taking too long because checking back in to get into the testing room is long, people being rude, or being in some way distracted on test day, this is a good bet to avoid most of that. See specifics below: 1. Ambient noise: I was sitting next to someone who was typing, but eventually they left, and with the noise canceling headphones (+ earplugs), it was barely audible and I was able to focus. I had a seat in the corner of the room farthest away from the door, so I didn't hear anyone going in or out for the entire exam. Note, the noise canceling headphones are pretty uncomfortable, but I got over it because they did help. 2. Breaks: Very efficient check in and check out processes for when you take breaks. I know different tests have different levels of security required, though. For what it's worth, I took the USMLE, which requires that you be scanned and have every single pocket checked before you re-enter, and I still had extra break time at the end of the exam. 3. People: Super nice. 4. Temperature: Wore a jacket, felt fine the whole time, may not even have needed the jacket (but I would still bring one). 5. Lockers: Free, nice size 6. Getting there early: Got there at 7am, someone came at 7:15, they let me in at 7:30, I was taking the exam by 7:40 Happy testing - best of skill! read more

Waited outside for an hour and a half. My exam was at 8:30 I was outside from 7:40 until 9:15 and then waited to check in, inside for abou 15-20 more minutes. So I started my 8:30 exam over an hour late which gave me a panic of course. The processes they use make no sense, there are ways to simplify and speed up the check in process. The actual testing part was fairly smooth just very distracting hearing the door open and close it makes a huge swoosh noise. read more

Compared to other testing centers that I have heard my friends complain about, Prometrics is easily a very accommodating testing center. You can secure your belongings in a locker. You are only allowed your ID, earplugs, and a couple tissues. If you wear a sweater, which I recommend since the room can be chilly, you must keep it on. Otherwise, you must take a break to store it which involves signing out of your testing cubicle. For the GRE, you are administered a scratch booklet which contains about four sheets and two sharpened pencils. I didn't have to use more than one booklet although you can ask for more. read more

Staff was friendly and made the process to get checked in and out quick and easy. I received a courtesy call the morning of my test to remind me to bring a mask and water, and that I could start the test sooner than my scheduled time. Testing center is clean and easy to get to. This was the test site used for a certification test I scheduled to take. I arrived at 7am and a line was forming outside. An employee was outside, trying to get in touch with other employees. It was only her second day. She finally contacted the manager who was apparently in Baltimore. She gave us a card with a number to reschedule our test. There were approximately 30 people waiting to test, and we were all upset. This employee basically went inside to hide. Another employee comes to the door and places a sign stating Closed. She indicates there are two of them, but they need one more employee in order to operate or it would take us 2 hours longer. We all agreed to wait. The two employees got in a car and drove off! They basically didn't want to work or create a solution. I've been to testing centers that had one employee run the entire process smoothly. The manager's name is "Jack". I will be filing complaints. Totally unprofessional. They deserve to lose their license/ credentials as a testing center. It was extremely inconvenient. We have deadlines to meet; some patrons traveled from Houston to test at this site. read more

I mean how am I supposed to star a place that makes you pay too much to take really long tests? It was a fantastic environment. I had my first actuary exam scheduled for 11:30 this past friday. I was pretty nervous and did not want to get lost so i decided to get there early. Too early, I arrived at 10:30. It wasn't too pleasing from the outside. Kind of tucked in the back of a strip mall. A one story, long building that clearly stated Prometric above the entrance. I was Certain I had found the place. I started gathering my emotions and concerns and walked right in with confidence on my mind. I went up to the counter and told the employee my story. She was so sweet, I instantly felt better about my test. She said I could put my motorcycle helmet in their coat closet and then i was told i could take the test right away, no waiting necessary. At first i didn't know how i felt about this. I was ready to just sit for an hour. Then be herded into a room with a bunch of other anxious test takers. So I gathered myself once again. I went through the rest of their procedures, signing in going over the rules and such. It was as pleasant as it could have been. They made me comfortable and relaxed. I didn't feel like i was bothering them. In fact i felt they were happy I was there testing with them. Then they led me to my little cube to take my test. Three hours later I finished and was lead out of the testing center feeling quite pleased with the whole experience. I planned on giving this center four stars but have changed my mind. It is a five star testing center. Even thought its not your typical establishment and you would hardly just chose on a whim to come here to spend a summer afternoon. It is quality. I will be sure to enjoy my next few visits there on my journey to becoming an actuary. read more

Just received a recorded message by phone from the testing center that my certification test SCHEDULED TO START IN 1.5 HOURS is cancelled, and I must call tomorrow to reschedule it. One star from me as well. My experience today was subpar. After having confirmed with 3 different employees (and taking a trip there just to make sure I knew where the place was located and ask relevant questions), one of proctors taking pictures told me that I couldn't have a handful of tissues at the desk and that we are only allotted 2 tissues at a time. If we want more tissues we are to get up and request them from the proctor while the time is running on our tests. I said that 3 people had told me before you can basically have unlimited tissues at your desk. I realize this sounds like a small issue but allow me to contextualize: I have severe, severe, anaphalactic allergies to grass pollen that almost killed me less than a month ago and definitely need tissues (as well as many other drugs and forms of medical treatment) right now when ragweed counts are high. I expressed this mildly to the proctor who countered that she had a really bad cold right now and it "doesn't really sound like you're coughing". She then proceeded to cough dramatically all over her shirt to illustrate to me she was sicker than I am and she currently needs tissues more than me. Or something. Which was sad and also gross because she definitely seemed contagious (wet cough). She then allowed me to take 4 tissues which was "twice what they allow" but to do it quickly because "we're being watched by cameras" and then looked around, paranoid. Cool, I got twice the tissue allotment after being told I could have a huge pile, which I did, in fact, need. I then asked if it was appropriate to stand and stretch during my one minute break, something three other employees had also confirmed prior. She said, "Well you can't disturb the other testers". I asked her directly, again, "Ok, got it, so is that a yes or a no, can I stand and stretch on my one minute breaks or is that not permitted?" Again, she was unclear and said, "Well we have doctors taking 8 hours board exams here." Great, so can I stand and stretch or are you going to throw out my scores if I do...? I just let it go. The cubicle they then put me in had a broken-ass desk. Totally wobbly. Nothing I could do. The test had started by the time I realized that doing anything other than a mouse click (ie. using the keyboard at all) would cause the desk to shake and shift so dramatically that it made accurate typing extremely difficult. I am a very fast typist and this slowed me down considerably. I wrote a 5 paragraph essay instead of my typical 6 and suffice it to say I was not a happy camper. When the first section timed out I requested that the proctor help me fix the desk. He moved me to another cubicle, adjacent to the door, after I'd previously requested of this same proctor to place me as far away from the door as possible. Ok, fine, I get it, you can't accommodate everyone's preferences, but there appeared to be other seats available far away from the door. It seemed I was being punished for asking to fix the desk. So they restart the test which took six or so agonizing minutes with the proctor repeatedly abandoning me before seeing the change through, after multiple pop-ups and error messages had come up and he had left the cubicle before ensuring the change was processed, only for me to flag him down again. Finally, we fixed it and the test proceeded. Throughout the rest of the test, the proctors changed positions and the dude at the proctor table seemed to talk a little loudly and incessantly in a deep, bassy voice. Our testing room was far from soundproof room and it was absolutely distracting. At one point I needed to flag them down for extra scratch paper and it took over a minute to do so because they were talking to each other and fiddling with their phones or ipods or something. This becomes more ridiculous and somewhat egregious when you realize I was less than four feet away from the proctors' window, waving my hands and staring at them. Like, that's how into their conversations/ ipods they were. Then I asked a question about what was being asked of me on the post-test survey and the response I got was terse and impatient; he left before I could even finish asking my question. I wish I could have tested at the UT location because I've heard only good things, but that's probably why they're always booked. Super disappointed in this location after reading these mostly Yelp positive reviews prior to going, but the center's unwillingness to accommodate a pregnant woman probably should have been my first clue that the staff was not necessarily going to be professional or polite. read more

Incredibly quiet testing facility with lots of rules and structures in place to prevent cheating and interruptions. While they have massive noise cancelling ear phones to help you stay focused they were too large for my head and hurt my ears, so I was glad I had earplugs in my purse. Being a medical student, I have had many experiences testing at different Prometric centers (sadly). I would have to say that this location has been my favorite so far! I got here early the day of the test and they open around 7:20 AM. They will let you check in as soon as you come in the door and get started on your exam early if you want. The staff here is wonderful - they are so nice and helped calm my nerves in the wake of a very anxiety-inducing environment. The center is clean and a perfect temperature (71-74 degrees is what the gentleman told me). The testing room is quiet and the lighting is better than other test centers. I would definitely recommend testing at this center if you are in the Austin area! read more

It's possible to make standardized testing centers comfortable and accommodating, however this place didn't get a perfect score from me. The staff was friendly and nice, but not very organized. I went here to take my Architectural exam. It is located in the back of some building and hard to find. People from other businesses were standing outside and there seemed to be a lot of commotion. I went in and they seated me at a computer with scratches all over the screen! I was taking a graphics test so I asked for another computer. They had to call a help desk to switch me and the help desk had them on hold for 30 minutes at least. By this time my nerves were struck. The help desk finally came on the line and they were able to switch me to a new work station. I couldn't concentrate do to all of this. In addition, the guy next to me was typing fast banging on his keyboard. They just sit you next to anyone not taking into consideration what kind of test you are taking. The guy that helped me was trying his best. There is just extremely bad organization if a problem arises. The staff was fine. Prometric itself is the problem. Why was my computer screen all scratched up? Why did I have to wait a half hour for the help desk to come on line. Another issue is the cheap scratch paper they give you. I started to write on it when it ripped. It was pink so it's hard to so what you write. I am leaving this feedback hoping things may improve. Next time I may go out of town to take the test as this location is terrible! read more
