My first time to have an appointment here. It was very easy to make an appointment and get in to see the Urologist in a reasonable amount of time. Parking was nice. They have outdoor spaces as well as a small parking garage. My appointment was early in the morning so I still had choices to park outside or in the parking garage. I chose to park in the garage since it was raining. Checking in when I got there was easy. The receptionist was welcoming and friendly. My wait time in the waiting area to be called back for my appointment wasn't too long. The waiting area is nice and roomie with nice comfortable chairs and a TV. The are was very clean. When I got called to go back to the exam room the doctors assistant was friendly and professional. She asked questions about my health history, what brought me into see the doctor and took my blood pressure. She was straight to the point. The wait time before the doctor actually came in was about 40 minutes...longer than I wanted to wait. Once the doctor came in he was friendly and polite. He asked what brought me into see him and he listened to all of my concerns and problems. He took the time address everything separately and made sure he covered all of my concerns and issues. My only problem was, I had a hard time understanding everything he was explaining because I didn't understand some of the terminology and medical terms. I should have said something, but I didn't, so that's on me. I like this doctor and I feel like I'm getting the proper treatment and care. My first opinion of this medical practice is great. I will continue to be a patient of theirs. I didn't mention any names because I didn't get permission to use their names. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Phillips. At my last appointment, he told me to schedule a follow up for one year out, but that he was retiring so that I would be transferred to another doctor. He told me that I should call the office in about 10 months when one of my current prescriptions would run out and they would fill it. It was a carry over prescription from a previous doctor from before I moved to Texas, but he put in my records that I was taking it. I scheduled my new appointment in a year, and in about 10 months I called to get my prescription filled. It was not filled and the doctor's office never reached out to me. I called them about a week later to check status, and the admin staff told me that the nurses opted not to refill it unless I made an appointment to see a doctor. I informed the admin staff I already had an appointment and asked them to check my records. They said they'd send this info to the nurses. Once again, they did not refill it and once again no one reached out to me. Really terrible that I followed the doctor's instructions exactly, and the nurses will screw you over like that and not let you get your medicine. Also, no one even reached out to me to tell me that they will not fill my prescription...they just blew you off completely and let you figure it out on my own when I realized that they were not just being slow, but they were blowing me off. I have canceled my future appointments with Austin Urology. They they don't treat their patients in a professional or supportive manner. They should at least reach out to patients to discuss the situation instead of blowing them off completely...especially when patients need a medication. I do not recommend Austin Urology at all. Go somewhere else. read more

My mother was told she needed surgery and a scheduler would call us. It's been 3 weeks with multiple messages left with scheduler/dr/manager without a response. I have been told when calling the main number to the office that they can only send a msg to the dr's nurse and cannot direct a call to anyone. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

Husband there for CT Scan. His technician Geoffrey was fantastic. Very professional and knowledgeable yet kind and compassionate. Excellent communicator who went the extra mile for the patient. My husband who wears hearing aids had difficulty hearing instructions over the CT noise. Geoffrey made sure he understood, repeating instructions personally instead of relying upon the automated voice commands. We were both impressed by his professionalism, skills, and compassion for the patient and caregiver. read more

Some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced, and I'm 68 years old. Despite their very poor reviews, I went to them for kidney stones, due to their office being close to me and their being able to see me soon. The PA recommended a followup visit in a month, with an associated abdomen X-ray from ARA Diagnostic. I was assured that the request would be faxed to ARA, so I would only need to schedule the X-ray appt a few days before my followup exam with Urology Austin (UA). I drove 20 minutes to the ARA appointment at the scheduled time, and they said they never received the request from UA. As long as I was at ARA, I thought I'd call UA to get them to fax the request over. I spent 30 minutes trying to reach someone at ARA, including their scheduling, medical, and billing departments. After failing on numerous attempts, lengthy hold times, and leaving a message for a callback, I finally reached someone in billing. I gave her the relevant info and she assured me she'd get someone to fax over the request. 20 minutes later, ARA had still not received the request. I decided to drive back home, while remaining on hold with UA. It's now been a total of an hour on hold, with no response. Perhaps the staff is competent and caring, but they are hopelessly understaffed. Regardless, the result is extremely frustrating customer service that will challenge your patience to no end. read more

I've read the other reviews and the negative responses are simply foreign to my personal experience with Urology Austin (James Casey office) over the last four years. From blood tests for PSA monitoring, phone calls and return calls, to appointments (yes, on occasion, I've had to wait--but who hasn't. It just goes with the territory), diagnosis and personal care, my experience has been very positive. The reason I didn't give "five *****" is "who can say it's as good as it gets." That's simply an unrealistic and unknowable value. Personally, I am very satisfied with Urology Austin, from their administrative personnel, doctors' PAs and the physicians. read more

This is a follow up to my recent 1 star review. While I'm not seeking to damage any doctor's reputation, I was given incredibly poor care at Urology Austin over a two year period. Every month, I would receive the UA Newsletter touting all of the treatment options available for male urology problems. Despite the fact that I am fully insured, I was never offered any of these treatments. My doctor made it clear that he was not concerned about my problems and told me to "cross my fingers and hope it gets better" and, finally, "there is nothing I can do to help you". I do not have cancer and this is unacceptable. On my first visit to BS&W Urology, I was given a complete blood and urine work up where they discovered that I had a bacterial infection in the prostrate. I was also sent to the BS&W Sleep Clinic for a two night sleep study which showed that had severe sleep apnea. This was causing my frequent urination at night. The doctors at BS&W did four day study of my liquid intake vs. amount voided, arranged for a CPAC machine to treat my apnea, an antibiotic for the prostrate infection and Finasteride tablets to help shrink the prostrate. All of this from my first visit to BS&W Urology. Conclusion: Don't go to Urology Austin if you are seeking quality care by concerned Urologists. read more

Dr. Sosland is great, but the billing department is incompetent. On the day of my CT scan, I was charged $180.56, which I paid with my FSA card. After being processed by my insurance, my share turned out to be a little less than that, $155.90. Not a large difference, but as I had paid with my FSA card, it needs to be fixed. I tried calling, but nobody ever answered. I sent a message through the portal, and was told to call. At my next visit, I asked the young woman at the front desk about getting a partial refund, and she just looked confused. So I am still owed $24.66, and if it's not dealt with, my FSA card will be frozen. As if that's not enough, today I received a bill for $155.90 for the CT scan I already paid $180.56 for. So the money I paid was never applied to my account. Where did it go? Whose account was it credited to? Is someone in the office saving up for a new boat? This is fraud, and has been reported. read more

So thankful to be a patient at this very nice clinic. I was referred there by our primary physician. From day one I was treated so well by everyone. Front desk, nurses and all the staff are outstanding. Dr. Floyd is amazing. He's a wonderful doctor with a great bedside manner. I read some reviews where people said they were treated badly by front desk and reception. Whoever these folks are talking about, must surely be gone. I was treated really well. read more

Problems with Urology Austin 2 Radam St.: 1. phone menu extensive, time consuming and inaccurate 2. calls from UA ring less than 3 times. voice mail very fast. extension number given BUT no 'enter your extension number' on the phone menu 3. no portal access despite being total a tech would help me 4.suppose to self-catheterization twice a day; no support passed how to do it despite evidence of trauma during bladder function test; changed type of catheter with no explanation 5. resorted to Emergency Room after being told Dr. Sosland would get back to me with a plan for extreme urinary pain. No follow up call was received that day or the following 6. ER simply applied lidocaine to numb the pain, tested and found UTI and adminstered an IV---all at Emergency Room prices. (I reported this pain at my first visit with Dr. Sosland for which she order bladder function test but gave no relief for the pain.) If you like IVORY TOWER doctoring this is for you. For me, I will rely on my primary care giver who sought advise from Dr. Sosland who has still failed to send my UA records. Your choice. read more

Imagine the absolute worst you can about being treated as if you are livestock, and you will know what you can expect if you chose this Walmart grade healthcare provider. Imagine a doctor that is so obviously sick of his job that he doesn't even want to talk to you or address any issue you may experience with procedures or diagnosis and you will know Dr. Floyd. Imagine a doctor's office that NEVER answers the phone and the only way you can speak to a human if you are experiencing symptoms that are completely foreign to you, after a biopsy, is to call on the physician line, and you will know Urology Austin. Imagine you are diagnosed with cancer and they let a clerk call you to tell you because the Doctor doesn't want to be bothered and they are saving money by letting the clerk do it, and you will know Urology Austin. If you are an actual human being - avoid this place like it is ISIS, but you could bring your cow there if you could care less how the cow is treated. I never thought that a healthcare provider this careless could actually exist in The United States -- North Korea and you are a peasant, yes, but the United States - I would never have believed it if I didn't experience it myself. I think you would be better off diagnosing and treating yourself, WITHOUT a medical degree, and you could hire a checker from Walmart to do your office work, which is obviously Urology Austin's business plan (no offense to Walmart checkers). read more

From the ease of parking to checking in and seeing the physician, the experience could not have been more pleasant. The staff members are unfailingly professional, efficient, and friendly. This is just my personal experience. I was recommended by a male friend who has had a good experience with Urology Austin (U.A.). Doctor saw me for an ongoing kidney infection. I first went to an urgent care center. I had to beg the doctor for more antibiotics. He said that my urine test was normal. But, I found out after my second U.A. visit, with his physician's assistant, that I had blood in my urine. Doctor said that my urinary culture would be ready by Thursday, in two days. But, when I called for the results Thursday, they said results wouldn't ready until Friday. But, when I went to his physician's assistant on Friday, she informed me that they had lost the culture, and that I'd need to have another test done, at my expense of course. I explained that I was almost out of antibiotics, and that I needed them until my symptoms finally went away completely. She refused to give me any, and gave me a list of UTI preventative treatments. The problem is that it's too late for that, since I'm trying to recover from a kidney infection. And, I was already taking the preventative treatments along with the antibiotics, anyway. The urine sample taken that day also had blood in it, and she told me that the previous one did too. She said that she couldn't determine what antibiotics to give me until they had my urine culture results, which would take a week. Since I had to get the antibiotics out of my system. But, by then I told her that I may have a severe kidney infection again. She said if I had a problem to go to the ER. After my appointment, I went to my primary care doctor as a "walk-in"; my primary care doctor gave me the antibiotic re-fill prescription that I needed to get well. I am not someone who normally takes medication. But, in this case, I needed enough antibiotics to get well. read more

Yes I'm a United States veteran and this is how they treat us. I had an appointment set up for Austin urology on June 10th 2020 and two days before the surgicare center says that I have to pay $2,000 for general anesthesia and my medical insurance wouldn't cover it because it didn't reach the deductible $2,260. I had to get a refund but upon getting my refund instead of $220.43 I got $57 because I wasn't aware that I had a bill when I went in for the consult. apparently up on checking in or checking out I was supposed to get a bill for $167 and has never been brought it to my attention until today. I called the billing department and wasn't really able to reach anybody and, when I did the only thing that can tell me is that they send three bills through the mail which I've never received and I've tried to call me but I am a construction worker I cannot answer my phone around heavy machinery. But now since services were rendered, is they took the $167. In other words I'm paying for something I didn't even know about until the day before surgery when I wanted to get a refund back because they're charged me $2,000 2 days before my surgery. Austin urology is very unorganized and unprofessional. All they do is take your money and won't even try to work with you. If I could I would give them a half a star. read more

The receptionist and Dr. Pickett are not good with the patients. I saw the receptionist ignore, and then chastise a man that had obviously been waiting for a long time to be seen. She then treated another couple rudely, stating several times that she had no information on them. She did not give my husband the correct details he needed to do a test, so we were told we need to come back again, because he didn't do the test correctly. The doctor nor the nurses said anything before the test either. Dr. Pickett did not give clear answers and seemed annoyed that we even asked questions. The don't have openings for appointments so we have to wait another month to be seen again. I asked if we could see another doctor in the practice and she didn't even look, just said NO. We are done to say the least. This is after 2 crappy experiences. read more

I highly recommend Drs. Williamson and Ruff. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in September 2014. After discussing the finding and treatments with Dr. Williamson, I elected to have a prostatecdomy. Dr. Williamson referred me to Dr. Ruff, who would perform the surgery using Di Vinci machine at Austin's St. David's Hospital. My major concerns were the surgery complications, recovery time, incontinence and scar tissue adversely effecting urination. I had no ill effect from the surgery and within two weeks I was back to my normal activities. Within three months of the surgery; I had no leakage or incontinence. I just had my one year check-up and everything is normal, PSA is non-detectable. Drs. Williamson and Ruff took the time to help me understand my diagnosis, options and treatments. Additionally, they are very approachable and friendly. Without question, they are highly skilled professional urologist and surgeons. In my option, they have earned the highest marks and my recommendation for any urological related health issues. read more
