I wanted to do some research before choosing who I wanted operating on me. I've worked in healthcare for over 20 years and know some of the best recommendations come from the NURSES that work with the doctors. So... I asked around and Dr. Livingston got consistently solid recommendations for being an excellent surgeon. This was my first experience on the patient side of interacting with a surgeon and am happy to report that Dr. Livingston took the time to make sure I was well informed of my options, risks, post op recovery time, etc. His medical assistant, Jennie was really helpful with my surgery scheduling and was very accessible when I had questions about the procedure and follow-up etc. She really helped me feel comfortable when I had some anxiety post surgery. The surgery itself (laparoscopic cholecystectomy) was uncomplicated and there was hardly any scar tissue to speak of. The billing office helped me when I had some questions about my insurance. If you're gonna have to have surgery, I'd go with these guys. I have no complaints about any aspect of the care they provided to me.

Do not spend your money or your time here. This place does not care about you as a patient. The…read moredoctor that I made the appointment with decided it was okay to move my appointment up an hour and it wouldn't be a big deal. Probably had to catch a tee off time with his buddies. Problem for me is that I didn't get out of work in time to meet that appointment. So I go to tell them I can't make the new scheduled time and they tell me I can't be seen for another three to four weeks. I suppose my time just isn't as valuable as theirs. They acted as though it was my fault that I couldn't accommodate them after they had inconvenienced me. Save yourself the heart ache and avoid this place. The staff is as about as warm as Nurse Ratchet and I'm sure the doctors are just as incompetent.

Taylor Lackey is professional, knowledgeable, and very well manages his time. Most of my visits, I have be able to see him in just 5 minutes. Only one time that I needed to wait about half an hour. Overall never a very long wait. Dr. Lackey well planed and it really helped saving patients' time. When he knew the reasons of my visit, he ordered me for an x-ray in prior to see him, and he told me that I could call to get an MRI order without the need to go to his office again. I have seen Dr. Lackey for my tennis and golf elbows, my dislocated tendon at my pinky finger, and lately a lump at my inner elbow. He is very attentive and provided me with the necessary physical therapy and medication. Claudia, Dr. Lackey's Medical Assistant, has been very kind, considerate, and attentive. She has tried her best to coordinate the doctor's orders and the x-ray unit in order to make it as fast and effective as possible. She has gone over everything slowly to make sure I understand everything right. Maybe the clinic has been too busy lately causing me a hard time reaching her. I left 2 voice messages and have been waiting over 48 hours, but never got a call back. I needed to leave the 3rd message before getting a call back causing me almost unable to get my MRI scheduled before my long trip. The front desk ladies or the scheduling ladies are very nice, always very helpful and are excellent at their jobs! When she knew I couldn't get a schedule at Austin Sports Medicine Lab, she recommended me 3 other labs in Austin and the near by areas and fax out my MRI order to all other labs right away. Finally, I could get my MRI scheduled on the last day before my traveling. I have experienced some difficulty at the x-ray unit inside Austin Sports Medicine. I have had conditions at both of my arms, but the x-ray technologist did the x-ray only one of my arms. I told him right away, but he refused to check even if I asked him politely and more than one time. When Claudia found out, she talked to the technologist and asked him to do the x-ray again for my another arm. Instead of fixing the mistake and having me next in line, he seemed upset and put me the last in line! And this time I waited over 30-40 minutes and still couldn't get an x-ray. Ended up Claudia told me that Dr. Lackey would pull my old x-ray for my another arm, so I didn't need to wait longer. I just wish the technologist was cared to listen to patients and spent a little time double check things. It could help prevent the mistakes from happening and save a large a mount of time for both patients and himself. In Sum: I highly recommend Austin Sports Medicine and Dr J. Taylor Lackey!

Not very impressed with this office at all…read more First - There is zero parking available. (The worst I've ever seen at a doctor's office). People were circling, and alot were parked illegally, even in the grass. I was forced to park next door at all the retail shops, even though there were a ton of signs saying they'd tow. Not really a great first impression. Second - My appointment with Dr. Meghpara felt very rushed, and was not near as thorough as other doctor's I've seen (and what I would require to consider it a worthwhile visit). It was my fault for not getting x-rays from another doctor over in time before my appointment (the office didn't remind me to bring any, and I honestly just didn't think about it until a few days before). I did bring my MRI images and report, and he basically said he had no use for those. I asked if we should take another X-ray at the office, so that he could see my current state, and he basically said it wasn't necessary. He also had me do only a few movements in the office (totaling about 10 seconds) to test out my pain, whereas two other doctors had alot more comprehensive exam. He then proceeded to give me his opinion without examining any x-rays or (from what it seemed) the MRI CDs I had brought in. He just went off of what I told him my situation was, what my last doctor had said (a few weeks before), and basically agreed with that assessment. At this point I was just ready to leave, as I was already disappointed and knew that he is not a doctor I would return to. I wish I would've just avoided going there for another opinion, and wasting $80.

I wish I remember my pre-op nurse and post-op nurse as they were both great. The doctor had a couple difficult cases and ended up running behind. I never had to ask when it would be my turn, I had three people advise me of the delay and make sure I was taken care of. Do not delay your colonoscopy. I became his patient during an ER visit that turned into a two-week hospital stay, and have returned to the Cardio Texas practice for followup visits going on three years now. In the hospital he was a real presence with whom I had regular contact, not just the behind-the-scenes doctor who shows up after much suspense to dryly dispense bits of test results and prognosis. He personally supervised some of my in-hospital testing, something I don't think I've ever experienced in my years of helping my parents navigate their hospital stays. I would frequently hear his voice down the hall and the nurses would joke about his intensity, always with fondness and respect. On visits as a patient at Cardio Texas, I again hear his voice echoing up and down the halls as I wait for my turn in my exam room. The man never seems to slow down. His NP assistant Beth and nurse Lori have been faultless from the beginning. I've never had any significant problems with scheduling or any other aspect of my experience as a patient. I believe Dr. Chafizadeh is one of the principal doctor/partners in the Cardio Texas practice. From what I've experienced, I would presume excellence from any of the doctors associated with Cardio Texas. Dr Harris was taking new patients so I scheduled with a clear understanding that I was coming for an annual wellness exam covered by Medicare. Unfortunately my appointment was during the flooding in the Austin area, with low water crossings closed prior to public road closings were updated. My travel to the clinic took 90 minutes that is typically 50 minutes. I checked in to the front desk 17 minutes late and Dr Harris made the decision to turn me away regardless of the 3 hour round trip I had just made, white knuckling it all the way. Since I didn't know her, I gave her the benefit of the doubt and rescheduled for the following day. Storms still prevailed but I took alternative routes and arrived 20 minutes before my appointment. Upon checkin I was told this annual physical would not be covered by Medicare. And was given a spread sheet that required fasting for the blood test, another request I made in advance to have before the exam, only to be told she doesn't do that with new patients, requiring a followup visit - I'm guessing for additional costs tacked on to the initial visit. She finally showed up to my room 30 minutes after the office visit was scheduled. This was our first introduction and I knew just by her appearance she was not in good physical health based on her obesity. I proceeded to share with her the appointment confusion over an annual wellness exam that clearly is covered by Medicare and the $215 costs now being required not to mention the return for labs. Then I showed her pictures of my previous days travel showing her the closed water crossings from the morning before, and the 17 minute delay. At that moment I was prepared to leave without an exam based on her 30 minute late entry to my 2nd appointment! I'm done with this "God" mentality in the medical industry and how rules apply to clients but not held by the same doctors that set these rules. And one more point...if you are in the medical industry, especially primary care, you should practice and look the part. One of the questions I was going to ask was her knowledge of nutrition, supplements and peptides along with HRT. I got my answer when the fat Dr Harris walked into my room. Do better.
