They've made improvements to parking and the rooms, but the café and food options still need some work. The check-in process for day procedures could also use improvement. It seems they are updating the lobby area as well. The staff is attentive and does their best, and I had a great experience with the ER staff during my last visit. However, the follow-up care after the ER visit could be better. Overall, this hospital is one of the better options in the Austin area. After reading others' reviews and their experiences, I've realized that many of the issues are common across hospitals in the US medical system, not just this one. I am glad we have the doctors of St David's South on my father's medical team. They have given us 16 and counting bonus years.

Wasting precious time. They better transfer him to the other hospital because he can't even get out of bed or get in an Uber to go to the other hospital. I am livid. Read all the other one star reviews and go somewhere else please A day or two later he put him on more blood pressure medication that lowered his blood pressure to dangerously low at 60! They did a procedure on him to check for blockages in his heart and found nothing. He left the hospital and no better shape than he arrived. He's now transferred to a skilled nursing facility and I'm so less stressed now that he's out of Saint David's! I am an honest person so I do have to admit that the staff was very kind and professional.

I was a patient at the north location for over 18 months and the last 6 mont6hs I was never able to…read moreget my correct prescriptions filled EVEN AFTER I asked them to check doctors note for new dosage. Thats 6 months out of 7. When I checked their facebook page I saw that the staff posts often that they are being paid overtime to watch movies with the screenshot including popcorn and a soda can. NOT PROFESSIONAL and in my opinion someone in the back is practicing medicine without a license instead of giving me what the dr recently ordered, just refilling the old prescription. THAT SUCKS So even though the staff I saw was very nice, I don't need nice, I need competent. So I switched to the south location. I was promised a visit with the doctor for my first visit since I was having medication issues. Instead a very harried and hurried p.a. shows up obviously not willing to take the time to actually hear out my answer to her first question "what brings you here today?" Interrupted in every answer, I finally stopped talking, and once she was making eye contact with me, I told her to just ask yes or no questions since she obviously didn't have the time for anything longer than a one word answer. At that point she apologized and said she would listen. Even with her subsequent interruptions she began to listen and respond more professionally. She assured me I would see the doctor within two days and penciled me in for an appt two days later at 1. When I went out to the front desk and requested a card for the appt time, the receptionist Lisa mind you she is in her 50's gave me a SNORT and an EYEROLL and told me the dr was booked ahead for 6 weeks. After instruction by the p.a. she relented and I got the card with time at 1:00. That day I left my home just before 12, and sadly an accident on 35 had traffic stopped in place for more than a half hour. At 1:13 I called the office to let them know I was stuck in traffic, the receptionist Lisa me not to bother as the next patient was already there and would be given my time slot instead. I said please give me next appt available with the doctor and she then said you can come in at 3. That appointment was with another p.a. and not a doctor so I would still not be able to resolve medication issues UNTIL I SAW THE DOCTOR 6 weeks later. So would I recommend this comedy of errors to someone seeking competent medical practice, a Doctor to be seen by when warranted, and polite and helpful staff? NOT HARDLY. I brought receipts for my complaint, sadly I did not have my camera out to document Lisa's SNORT and EYEROLL. Steer clear, unless you like impediments to good health care placed in your path.

I really appreciated the extra effort & thought put into the decoration of the mammogram exam room. There was also pink decor displayed that reminded you of the importance of getting regular mammograms done for early detection of breast cancer. I didn't have to wait long in the patient waiting lobby before getting called back to get my mammogram done & the mammogram took about 30 mins or so. Are they underpaid? Are they unskilled? Do they just not care? Time after time, I've had a problem getting my prescriptions refilled. They call it in to the wrong pharmacy. They call in the wrong vial size. ... Or they just don't respond at all. There's no way to contact anyone directly. Just the portal and the off-shore messaging service they use. They rarely check messages in the portal. And as far as I can tell, any messages left with their off-shore service go into a black hole. No messages get through to the office or the staff. I'm really close to filing a complaint with the Texas Medical Board over the shoddy service their staff gives. I hate to do that, because, as I said, my doctor is great. It's the "care" offered between my semi-annual appointments that's abysmal. I would be happy to adjust this review if I started seeing consistently better service from the staff. If I could give Dr. Hardee a separate review, I'd leave her five stars. If I was gauging the staff separately, this would be a 1-star review.

My experience with Urology Austin has been an absolute disaster, marked by weeks of delays, poor…read morecommunication, and basic administrative incompetence. I began trying to schedule treatment in late-October. Every time I called the office, I spoke with a front-desk staff member who told me that "a scheduler would call me back within 24-48 hours." That call never came. I repeatedly followed up--sometimes every 48ish hours--and made no progress for weeks. The only way I was able to get any response was by emailing the doctor directly at a personal email address, which felt highly inappropriate and was the only thing that finally prompted someone to call me back. At that point, on November 11th, I was told I needed to complete three forms for insurance pre-authorization. I completed all forms immediately. Despite this, the pre-authorization was not submitted to my insurance company until exactly one week before my scheduled treatment, on December 9th. Worse, the submission apparently included no supporting documentation showing that I was eligible for the treatment. As a result, Blue Cross Blue Shield requested a peer-to-peer review between the doctor and one of their clinicians. However, there is no direct phone number for Blue Cross to reach the doctor, and Blue Cross does not provide a direct number either. The process completely stalled. I am now unable to receive treatment before the end of the year. This is especially frustrating because I had already met my out-of-pocket maximum for the year, which is why I was trying so hard to get this scheduled. The amount of time wasted on futile phone calls and emails is unacceptable. To make matters worse, this all started with a different doctor at this practice whom I saw last Spring. That doctor said I could schedule when I saw him again over the summer--only to be informed during that summer appointment that the doctor was retiring and I would need to see someone else. I still don't understand why I had to come in just to be told that. All subsequent issues occurred under the care of Dr. Osterberg. Healthcare is complicated enough. Patients should not have to chase down schedulers, manage insurance failures caused by late or incomplete submissions, or email doctors personally just to receive basic care. This practice is deeply disorganized, and I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

My wait time in the waiting area to be called back for my appointment wasn't too long. The waiting area is nice and roomie with nice comfortable chairs and a TV. The are was very clean. When I got called to go back to the exam room the doctors assistant was friendly and professional. She asked questions about my health history, what brought me into see the doctor and took my blood pressure. She was straight to the point. The wait time before the doctor actually came in was about 40 minutes...longer than I wanted to wait. Once the doctor came in he was friendly and polite. He told me that I should call the office in about 10 months when one of my current prescriptions would run out and they would fill it. It was a carry over prescription from a previous doctor from before I moved to Texas, but he put in my records that I was taking it. I scheduled my new appointment in a year, and in about 10 months I called to get my prescription filled. It was not filled and the doctor's office never reached out to me. I called them about a week later to check status, and the admin staff told me that the nurses opted not to refill it unless I made an appointment to see a doctor. I informed the admin staff I already had an appointment and asked them to check my records. They said they'd send this info to the nurses. Once again, they did not refill it and once again no one reached out to me. Really terrible that I followed the doctor's instructions exactly, and the nurses will screw you over like that and not let you get your medicine. Also, no one even reached out to me to tell me that they will not fill my prescription...they just blew you off completely and let you figure it out on my own when I realized that they were not just being slow, but they were blowing me off. I have canceled my future appointments with Austin Urology. They they don't treat their patients in a professional or supportive manner.
