This is where labs are drawn, no doctors, no nurses.... Just people who got certified in phlebotomy... Many high school students could become a phlebotomist before they could buy alcohol... This place is a clinic, people act like robots, no personality, just sort of blase... they seem very fatigued... almost like being nice is extra work... But that's the industry now, these aren't medical professionals... they act like they are robots... Even directions to the toilet felt like a chore to them... It's all about money :) shut up and pay me and don't tell me how to act!! read more

If I could give the James Casey location zero stars I would. They have absolutely inefficient systems and people at the front. And everyone just blames Saturday morning. When in reality they don't take people in order, mess up things and it leads to frustration. I had a wait time of over 90 mins easily this morning. Clinical Pathology Labs is an excellent facility. Always clean, calm and professional. The office staff is kind and understanding and patient. Inefficient staff did labwork and then 2 days later got a call and they say they did not get enough serum. So I had to go back in again and get more blood taken when they should have taken the correct amount without me having to fast again and drive there again very inefficient. read more

I stopped going to CPL because their billing was disorganized and the people managing my Flexible Spending Account couldn't sort them out. Managing their billing problems has been a headache for me. In addition, I had two doctors ordering the same labs and CPL wanted to run two separate sets of labs instead of just sending the same results to both doctors, which my insurance would not pay for. Unfortunately, the lab I switched to now sends the labs to CPL so I have to deal with them again. CPL sent me two bills, one for ~$3 and the other for 24 cents. Their system won't let me pay both together so I had to pay them separately. I discovered their system won't let me pay the 24 cent bill because the amount had to be more than 99 cents, but I couldn't change the payment amount. This forced me to send them a check for 24 cents, which is less than the postage cost sending the bill to me and the payment to them. The people who run CPL just don't seem to use common sense. I wish I could avoid them altogether. read more

It's usually hard for phlebotomists to do a blood draw on me because my veins are tiny (not their fault), but Jason nailed it at the first try. It was painless and did not leave a bruise. Aside from being very experienced he was very friendly and made my day. read more

Oh my. Why the negative reviews? I've been going exclusively to CPL for as long as I can remember. I've had a few bad experiences, but none that would make me find another lab. The phlebotomists, except for a couple, have been efficient, skilled, and personable. From the time I walk in the door, I'm usually in and out within a decent amount of time. It's an older building, so it's not shiny, but I find it clean. I've said this before in other reviews, but there are negative people around, some who always find things to complain about. Or they make a mountain out of a mole hill. Then there are those who are just plain unhappy with life. So they take it out on others. If you're patient, ask questions, stay calm, seek solutions, and treat people the way you want to be treated, you'll get much better service. I'm not bragging, but I'm an upbeat person who always approaches people with a smile and friendly greeting. I try to set the mood for the appointment. As a result, I almost always leave on a positive note. Admittedly, this doesn't always work, but that's life. read more

I went to the location on Brodie Ln. I had a 1:30 appointment and was told to be there 15 minutes early. When I arrived, there was a sign on the door saying that they were closed 12:30-1:30. I had to Uber there and it's 100° outside. When the staff showed up at 1:35, the person who first talked to me pointed at the wall without speaking. After a few seconds, she said, in a rather condescending fashion, that I needed to sign in, as if I were supposed to already know that. She was rude throughout the experience. She spent most of the time that I was standing there complaining about the computer system and that next time, she's "getting her whole lunch." As I went to sit down after I was checked in by an employee who was very nice, someone tried to open the locked door. I waited to see if an employee was going to help. It became apparent that that wasn't going to happen, so I went over and let her in. There were two employees who were great, but the rude lady was awful. Customer sevice is not her thing. If you are going to let someone make an appointment and tell them that they are to be there 15 minutes early, you should be open. I understand that people should have a break fur mich and that the appointment setting is not there responsibility, but it's really unprofessional. Because of that and the INCREDIBLY rude employee I will never be back and if I hear if any of my friends having an appointment there, I will tell them not to. read more

The people didn't have a clue what I needed to have done. I had blood draws from two different doctors and they kept telling me the labs and doctors were wrong. Why not 1 Star ? They were upfront that they didn't understand the orders and were worried that my 3 insurance would not cover the cost. The staff was quite friendly and they definitely had my interest as a priority. I went back to the issuing doctors office and had it done there. When a doctor says labs can be done at any lab. That isn't correct. read more

I had an appointment 3 weeks out and when I arrived, I was instructed by the receptionist to sign in on the iPad. The only input on that screen is a confirmation number, which I didn't have in any inbox in my phone for the life of me. I asked her if she could manually sign me in with any other info and she rudely said no, and that I'd have to just input as a walk in. It's already been an hour wait and this staff has done nothing to accommodate. I'm steamed at such a pointless rule/system. read more

Coming from France, I dread seeing doctors or having any medical service in the U.S. as I always ended up with unexpected billings and being given a run around among the mediocre insensitive staffs. I called Clinical Pathology Lab when receiving a bill the second time I saw my PCP for the semi annual exam with blood test for preventative. I only found out that the coding was wrong (not listed as Preventative) so that was why part of the bill was not reimbursed. However, it took my follow up with the insurance thereafter to find out. All Tasha of CPL did was to immediately referring me to contact the insurance. Tasha was totally rude, ignorant and inconsiderate. She is getting paid to DO NOTHING. what a waste of human ressources! read more

I absolutely dread getting my blood drawn but I hardly had to wait, the waiting room was super spread out for covid precautions- the phlebotomist was SO lovely and I hardly felt the stick. Terrible manners on the phone. If you speak to Desi, hang up and try again. Luckily, it turns out I called the wrong lab. Only learned that by speaking to a very rude woman who hung up on me before I had a chance to ask a single question, twice. I called back just to be able to ask a question, she told me "it must have been a different lab" and then hung up again. I called back again so that I could file a complaint, and Jaquita was much more polite. What a terrible person to represent this place, hope I never actually have to come here. read more

Review for the James Casey St location. Even with a full waiting room on a Saturday morning, I was in and out in a little over half an hour. Signing in took seconds, verification only took a minute, and from going in the back to coming back out was about 5 minutes. The lab tech was competent and fast-my last two blood draws at doctors' offices I've either fainted or thrown up, but she distracted me with a barrage of questions, found my vein right away, and made sure I could stand and wasn't going to hurl before she let me leave the room. She made something I was really dreading as pleasant and as fast as it could possibly have been. read more

I'm sitting in the waiting room right now. I've been here almost an hour after being told there is only one person ahead of me. I used to get blood drawn at my physicians office until they decided to contract with CPL. Now I'm probably going to change doctors just to avoid having to come here regularly. I can't imagine what on earth could make getting a simple blood draw take this long. At almost any other lab you're looking at 10-15 minutes, and that's if it's busy. It's not busy here. Just glacially slow. And nobody seems to care. UPDATE: After another 20 minutes of waiting I was called back with no apology for the wait, and then the tech mis-stuck my vein. I have huge veins and normally am told how easy of a stick I am. She dug around for awhile, finally managed to get a little bit of blood, and now I have a big painful bruise developing. I am going to have to tell my doc that whatever money he's saving by outsourcing to CPL, he's going to lose it in patients like me finding another provider. This place is not good. read more

Because of my insurance I had to go to CPL lab is one of the worst places I have been , not even once I came out without a busted vein, today I was at the one by East Charleston dirty place , no correct Distance between chairs the girl That draw the blood was nice but no mask so I wasn't protected they should be giving the example , no hand sanitizer in no place , the place you put your urine sample didn't even have a paper and was dirty , normally in the restroom You have to find the little disinfectant wipes , well I have to go to the front desk to ask for one , literally one dirty place that should be clean like a hospital , I hope I won't get sick cause if I do I will know exactly where I got it . Sadly I will have to continue there because insurance but I do t recommend this place at all ! read more

This place is bad news and almost makes me understand why Theranos received so much funding. First off, the person drawing my blood couldn't find a vein, which has never been a problem for me in the past. They took two incomplete vials and kept trying until I fainted. I ended up having to vomit in the bathroom of the clinic while I pleaded that someone please bring me water. It was honestly traumatic. Next, came the billing fiasco. I received two separate bills using two separate account numbers that came months apart. How can this be? I have no idea. I had moved away to another state before the second bill rolled in and they tried to send it to debt collectors. You have to call them and pay over the phone like it's the year 2000. Even though they have an electric bill pay system, it's clunky and it does not work-- I tried. I've pleaded with my former doctor's office not to send patients here. I hope they listen. read more

I was very nervous to go here after reading the previous reviews of this lab. I experienced none of the things others complained of. I walked in and signed in. The waiting area was pretty full. I expected to wait awhile so I brought a book. By the time I finished 2 pages, the desk had collected all my information. By the time I read 5, I was called back to get my blood drawn. The lady who drew my blood was awesome and skilled. Everyone I spoke with was pleasant. I'll definitely come back and update my review if the billing experience is bad, but ... It's strange for me to give 5 stars for a place that draws blood, because my personal biggest fear is needles. Use a knife to draw my blood! I hate needles! The woman that drew my blood's name is Evelyn. She was wonderful. So very caring and professional! She was patient and caring and calmed me down before drawing my blood in a way that was so easy I literally felt nothing! She even waited for the alcohol swab to dry so I didn't feel the sting! This was the second CPL location I went to this week. The Brodie location was so terrifying I walked out! If you're afraid of needles but have to have blood work done, go here. Ask for Evelyn! I was really nervous going here for bloodwork after reading the reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised by my experience! I walked in, signed in on the little tablet at the front desk, and was immediately called over to the next desk to present my insurance info. The ladies at the front desk were polite and friendly. They took my information & I sat down to wait, and the wait was no more than 5 minutes - if that. I walked back to one of the rooms and sat down. The man who drew my blood was very professional, quick, and accurate. No pain, no blown vein, in and out super fast! He answered all of my questions and I'm really pleased with my whole experience here. read more

This is just a warning to others who use this particular company, not this particular location. We received a bill (10-5-10) for a pap smear that was done in June '10. It said that nothing was covered by insurance!! It was a well woman exam which is ALWAYS covered by my insurance. I contacted my insurance & was told that no claim by this company was ever submitted! I then called CPL & was told that ALL claims filed on June 9, 2010 were done incorrectly. So I asked her if they knew this why wasn't a letter sent out to me, instead of a bill? She had no answer for this, but advised me not to pay the bill at this time. She verified all of my insurance info, which she already had & was all correct. They had all of the info they needed to refile a claim, since they knew they had a problem on a certain date. I believe they didn't refile once their systems were up & running again, because they wanted the most money out of everyone. WOW! So my suggestion to you is to make sure your insurance got a claim filed by CPL before you pay any bill from them. If I wasn't aware of my well woman benefits I would have paid a bill for $302.75. Considering I'm unemployed, that's a lot of money to me. read more

I have had my blood drawn probably fifteen times over the last three years from this particular CPL. My doctor hates me. Okay, not really. My doctor is just super conscientious and likes to check my blood work every three months. I usually don't have to wait too long to get in at this CPL and in the beginning (before I became a human pin cushion) they catered to my fear of all things medical: scrubs, needles, antiseptic, linoleum, etc and let me lay on the floor when I came in to get my blood drawn. The only trouble I've had is them screwing up twice. Once they didn't take my fasting blood levels (during a two hour glucose test) and they took my blood three times in an hour before realizing the mistake and also they forgot to take enough blood the second time. Eh. My advice: If you are all squeamish about blood or needles or Junior College students practicing on human guinea pigs, ask for someone with experience. With blood drawing. Not THAT kind of experience. Perv. read more

This one star review is for the wait time and not the lab techs who draw the blood, that woman was amazing. To get there, we had to wait 3 hours. Yes 3 EFFING hours for a lab draw all the while fasting. My daughter has chronic health issues not the least of which is severe nausea and fainting spells. Sitting in a waiting room full of people is not what the doctor ordered. This place is seriously in need of an overhaul on check in procedure or possibly they just need to be realistic and get more staff. I think there were only 2 people there drawing blood and 4 people in the front office. You walk in and type your name into a computer. And then you wait. And wait. And wait some more. When they finally call your name (2.5 hours for us) then you give them your lab orders or they look them up if the doctor submitted them electronically. If you happen to be the unlucky SOB whose lab orders didn't come across from the doctor you have now waited 2.5 hours for absolutely nothing. You've also added to the wait time of everyone else in there as the office staff now has to check the computer again, or call the doctors office or tell you you're just going to have to come back another time. I guess I should thank my lucky stars that I wasn't one of those unlucky SOBs. I'd learned my lesson the hard way. I now insist on paper lab requests. CPL, you're making a shit ton of money. Invest some of it in more staff and bigger offices to address the needs of your patients. read more

I personally like this lab. They have extended hours which gives me some flexibility, and they do not require appointments. I usually get called back for the blood drawing within 5 minutes after signing in. Their reports to the doctor are fairly quick. I have had blood pulled one day and the doctor had the results the next day. I don't know if that is common or not, but it sure helped because I was able to fill a vacated doctor's appointment slot. Lots of parking is another convenience. read more

Going to change Doctors if my doctor won't agree to send any tests to a new lab. This place is shady and shiesty like others have said. They send you endless bills and don't even bother trying to work any issues they have with your insurance out themselves. They Force YOU to call your insurance over and over again. I was told my insurance wasn't paying, yet when I call my insurance, they have zero claims in from the lab. They told me they didn't know how to bill my insurance properly?? And asked for me to supply a fax (which isn't even on the insurance card since its an archaic form of doing things and should all be destroyed) I'm in a giant Cigna network.. have you NOT billed Cigna before? Are you kidding me? This place is clearly either lazy - or trying to double bill unsuspecting people. Not sure which, but either is terrible. Never had so much trouble getting a blood draw. My daughter doctor checked in between boxes for electrolytes and lipids...well they said she needed to fast. I specifically asked the doctor about if she needed to fast and said no. I said the doctor checked the fast box with no and yet they refused to draw blood! I said the doctor checked the box no fasting and electrolytes don't need fasting. I'm not still waiting to wait for Tina the lead to call me back, the doctor called her and verified, yet the computer has no records of her speaking with our doctor. The Brodie office is COMPLETELY incompetent!!!! Find another laboratory for blood draw, they are completely unprofessional and won't return your phone calls. read more

CPL is the only provider that refuses to give us the insurance company's contracted rates. The contracted rate is the amount the provider will accept from the insurance company as full payment, if the insurance company is paying. Our insurance is catastrophic ($10,000 deductible) so we're essentially paying out of pocket, but all our other providers charge only the insurance co. contracted rate because, after all, if they're willing to accept a certain amount from the insurance co. as full payment, then they're willing to accept that same amount from us. Except CPL. CPL billed us at their full rate. When I complained, they agreed to lower the charges, but that reduced amount was still FOUR TIMES HIGHER than network pricing. read more
