First Visit: I had been dealing with a respiratory tract infection for almost 30 days and had already been treated by another community care center. Since I had a trip planned, I wanted to confirm whether I was still contagious. After completing my paperwork, I was called in quickly. The doctor reviewed my symptoms--fever that came and went, a bad cough, and throat discomfort. She checked my vitals, body temperature, and BP, which were all normal at that moment. Since I had already completed a round of antibiotics, she advised me to let my body fight the infection, reassuring me that I was no longer contagious. That was a relief, and I left Ally without being charged. Second Visit: After returning from my trip to California, I came back to Ally with a 103°F fever, severe body aches, extreme fatigue, and a baddd cough. This time, they ran every available test for infections and viruses, which confirmed that I had Influenza A, Influenza B, and COVID-19 and Respiratory Tract Infection. Unfortunately, since I had been sick for over a week, the doctor explained that antiviral medication wouldn't be effective. But they saw how severe my cough was, they prescribed an inhaler and cough medication to help manage my symptoms. I was charged $220 but that was in my best interest there are several other options which you can decide accordingly. What I appreciate most about Ally is that they are upfront about costs. Unlike other ERs that seem to prioritize billing over patient care, they inform you of pricing in advance, giving you the option to accept or decline services based on what's in your best interest. I honestly trust them more than my own physician at this point. I once took a friend to another ER where she tested positive for the flu. All they did was checked her vitals and BP before prescribing medication. Later she received a bill for $1,000. I was very ill at the time, so I do not have any pictures of Ally. I left the OB completely freaked out (the on call doc when I went was absolutely awful) & not to mention, with no diagnosis or meds or anything at all. As someone who suffers from anxiety, I had a full blown anxiety attack for the next 24 hours. The following day I couldn't take it and came down the road to viks. Due to the intimate nature of my issue, I requested a female doctor but they told me they only had male; so I just took what I could get, not a huge deal. Front desk was fairly nice, filled out the papers, and they took me back fairly quickly. My doctor was Dr. Mcalasdair (apologies if i spelled that wrong). While I did originally want an ultra sound, he attempted talking me out of it. We went back and forth for a little bit but ultimately he said he was pretty confident he knew what was causing this, and while he didnt think an ultrasound was needed, he was willing to call their ultrasound person to come down and do it if I was adamant. I eventually caved and agreed to not do the ultrasound. Although he did make a little dig during our convo which I didn't appreciate (he said something along the lines of "I've been doing this for 30 years so I think I know what I'm doing). Please don't be condescending. Regardless of how long you've been in medicine, people are still allowed to advocate for themselves & their desires for their treatment. Anyway - aside from that, he was attentive and reassuring. However I've got to give it to the nurse - she really soothed me and my anxieties. She was such a sweetheart. She was maybe a middle aged lady with a British accent. She was so attentive, answered all my questions, checked on me, and when she could tell how nervous I was, she even brought me a little mini teddy bear with a viks shirt on to hold onto. No matter how old you are, little gestures like that really mean something, especially when you're scared. In the end, what I got was an IV in the arm with antibiotics. I believe it took like 45 min to fully drain. While I just sat there and waited, my nurse even brought me a heated blanket to make sure I was warm and comfortable. She was the best. They wrote me a prescription for an oral antibiotic but we were unsure if we were gonna make it on time before the pharmacy closed. On the off chance we didn't, they gave me my first pill ther so I wouldn't have to worry about missing a dose that night (in case we weren't able to get it until the next day). Thankfully we did make it to the pharmacy before they closed though. But that was really thoughtful. In the end, we ended up paying the ER price upon leaving. I haven't received any other bill in the mail so I can't speak on that experience yet... Also - the doctor called the next day to check up on me but I was unable to answer so he left a message. I called back the following day, but he wasn't busy with a patient so a message was taken. No call back. Called again the next day, he wasn't at the lakeway location, he was at another location. So I called the other viks location I was told he was at and they took a message since he was busy with a patient and told me he would call me back. He never did. I called again a day or two later back to the lakeway location and they gave me the same story and said they'd take a message but I told them I had already tried that multiple times and got no call back and told them I just wanted to speak to anyone on staff nurse or otherwise for them to answer my questions. So they put me on hold and I spoke to another doc I'm assuming, but not the one I saw, not dr macalasdair. This doc was pretty vague and dismissive with his answers. Basically it was like a couple word answers or "I can't answer that unless you come back in & we look at you again"...... mkay. He was unhelpful. Between the snarky response when I was advocating for myself in the room & the lack of call back and unhelpful response I got when I finally demanded to speak to anyone doctor on staff, that's why I took one star off. Otherwise, I had a solid experience. They fixed me and calmed my nerves at the same time. If anything goes awry with billing, I'll be sure to update my review. But for now, thanks for helping me!

Before going, I checked my Humana insurance, which listed this facility as a provider, so I arrived expecting to use my coverage. Once I arrived, I was told they do not accept insurance, which was very confusing and concerning given how they were listed under my plan. I was then informed that costs would start at around $800 or more, and according to the receptionist, they do not perform X-rays. Despite my insurance copay being $45, I was insisted upon to pay $800 upfront before any examination, without being seen by a doctor or receiving any medical evaluation. Due to the excessive cost, I declined treatment and left. The receptionist was extremely rude and dismissive throughout the interaction, which only made the situation worse. Being pressured for a large upfront payment before any care was provided raised serious concerns. Overall, between the lack of transparency regarding insurance, exorbitant pricing, and unprofessional behavior, I chose not to proceed with treatment and will not be returning. This experience left me very uncomfortable and concerned about how patients are treated here.

Nurse Christen and ER Tech Sandra were warm, efficient, and personable when they checked in with me. Christen, whom I saw several times through the visit was consistent and helped me feel like she really had my back throughout. Radiologist Keith was equally warm and helpful, patiently explaining my CT procedure to me. And Dr Racey helped me work through my various ideas as to what might be going on while being absolutely direct and honest with his answers, including what he didn't know and couldn't confirm. He was also clear in his recommendation to me to do what was needed to rule out stroke completely, and set up an emergent MRI for me at Seton Hayes nearby. I was SO grateful for that. Total, trustworthy, boss handling. In case it matters to anyone reading: no stroke, mass, or bleeding in my brain/neck. On to the Neurologist we go. 5 stars EASILY.

ENT guy said it was in the top three worst ear infections he had seen that year.  Fast forward to this week - Just got released from the hospital after 3 days in the ICU for a subdural hematoma. The day prior to going to the ER I went to Premier and saw "Doctor" Hale, explained the horrible headaches I had been having without letup, slurred speech issues, typing issues - and he gave me an ibuprofen shot and sent me on my way with no follow up. He said he would call to discuss the emailed blood work results with a phone call - nada. The ER doctors were absolutely appalled at the zero interest/lack of concern about the cause of the headaches, which was easily determined with a simple CT scan. We were taken to a room within 5 minutes and greeted by two nurses who immediately began consultation and setting up the IV. I love how quick the discharge process was -- they make it so simple for you. Shoutout to Colin and Sherry, they are the best nurses we have come across and that says a lot given we are in an ER every few months. They are very great at making you feel heard and overall just amazingly nice people. The best of the best. Dr. Wright was very knowledgeable and just as respectful/nice as the nurses. Dr. Wright spent the time with us that a lot of medical providers fail to do. He explained options, possible effects, and helped us with decision making. He never made us feel like he was in a rush. He listened and advised. Thank you for that. Overall, we were taken very good care of at Vik Complete Care and will certainly choose this location in the future. I've only had two phone interactions with the office since returning to care, and unfortunately, both were unnecessarily rude and condescending. The first was regarding a same day schedule change the office requested less than an hour before my appointment. When I couldn't accommodate the new time due to work, I was met with clear frustration and no flexibility. So I just made it work anyway. The second happened today: I had a virtual appointment this morning, and moments ago received a phone call demanding immediate payment -- not just for today's appointment, but also for one from a month ago that I hadn't even been notified about until just an hour earlier from my insurance. When I asked if I could pay through the portal, I was repeatedly pressured to pay over the phone instead, as if I was avoiding the bill. I have no issue paying my bill, and in fact, I paid it immediately after the call ended. But I was spoken to as if I had ignored multiple invoices, and the tone felt aggressive and was incredibly inappropriate. I understand that medical offices deal with difficult patients all the time. But kindness should be the standard, not the exception, especially when both phone calls I've had with your office staff have left a bad taste in my mouth. Thankfully, Dr. Ince makes it worth continuing care. But I'm genuinely relieved that my appointments are virtual, because based on how I've been treated, I have no desire to deal with this staff in person.

Informative Review vs. a "gushing review," systematically going through "everything" to help you understand how this office operates; ultimately, so you receive the best of your experiences: Phone call "reception"/the "operators": As of this post, you'll frequently (but not always) speak with Yvonne. They are AWESOME! To help you understand: If they "sound" anything other than "getting the job done," then you've likely called during a busy phone time (typically 8-8:30am, right after lunch, or 4:30-5pm). Since this IS a busy practice, the typical greeting speedily is, "South Oaks, how may I direct your call?" State the purpose of your call in a FEW simple words to expedite your call/transfer (i.e. "patient appointment," "schedule an in-office procedure," "medical records," "billing/payments," "calling for lab results," "questions for/need to speak with the nurse/doctor," etc, or even "I don't know!"). Phone Operator/phone "reception" bottom line: They receive your call and will schedule your appointment with the appropriate doctor/nurse, or they will transfer you to the appropriate person/dept. They are NOT the folks to share detailed medical problems/questions; however they WILL listen & help you, especially if you don't know what to do or who to ask for. Appointment Check-In / Front desk "reception": For fastest service, arrive at least 5 mins BEFORE your appointment time, & sign in. Your arrival is anticipated. Delays: most often related to the gathering/verifying needed insurance and/or medical history info/updates, demographic changes, discussing/rectifying possible past billing balances/issues, and/or tending to the person(s) who arrived before you. You will ALWAYS be asked if there are any changes in demographics & insurance, and at this time, you pay the co-pay, if applicable. Waiting time: room filled or empty, you'll be received in the appropriate order, period. I've had short & long wait times. If no one else is waiting & you are grumpy about it, how do you know if the rooms aren't filled or if a patient has a serious medical problem occurring? I assume my wait time translates to the doctor spending the time that is NEEDED with a patient (can be quick or longer). Also consider: if 1 appt runs late, the subsequent appts will likely be running late...that is, if you expect fairness! And, if MY needs are more minor/quick to resolution, I try to exit quickly "to help them" catch up if they're behind (yes, this can occur and is more frequent during higher incidences of illnesses, but not uncommon of ANY physician practice!). Called back from the waiting room: Your weight, temp., and heart rate will be taken (wellness exams include height); in the exam room, your blood pressure will be taken & you share the summary/purpose of your visit with the nurse/medical assistant. Then, you await the MD. MD visit: should ROCK. If minor/routine, it may be quick; but if seemingly too fast for you, JUST SAY SO! This practice is highly experienced, so routine issues may appear quick to you, but STOP THEM if you have remaining questions or concerns! They WILL listen! This practice is of the highest standards of care. If you haven't received a response satisfying your concern, ASK! So helpful! Diagnostics: on-site blood work = YES! On-site basic strep tests= YES & results while you wait! Xrays/MRIs/other diagnostics: Seton SW Hospital is conveniently next door (but I prefer ARA). Communication of diagnostic results: blood/lab work, xrays, CT scans/MRIs, mammograms, ultrasounds, etc: 1st rule of thumb = "no news is good news." Haven't heard? Assume 1st the results are normal; or for known problems: deeper assessment is occurring. As a general rule, wait 48 hrs before calling, depending on the test, if you are concerned. Prescriptions: Get them AT THE TIME OF YOUR VISIT (or verify they'll be called in to your pharmacy)! If not, there's a $5 fee: Yes, preparing a script takes time away from in-office tasks. As medical practices have received cut-backs on reimbursement, so too, understand that extraneous requests ultimately cut into doc/pt face-to-face time.
