I've been seeing Dr. Babcock for years and he is really an excellent doctor and I hate having to switch from him. However, SAMC recently switched to One Medical (Amazon), meaning you have to pay a $200 subscription to even be able to read messages from the doctor, book an appointment, view/ refill prescriptions, etc. You can get a 'free' version if you're ok with being on hold for half a day but all that gets you is the ability to login and view messages when you owe them money... not doctors messages. They no longer have a direct number to call even though there's usually 2/3 people working at the desk every time I've been in there. This is truly saddening as again, Dr. Babcock has been a great doctor for me but this model is truly terrible. As bad as health care is in the US I can't believe we're straying even further in the wrong direction with subscription based health care! Well-run office with diligent attention to detail--COVID-19 care has been well-run, with due concern for everyone's safety. Never had a problem with parking; office is well set up. Exam rooms are clean and well-equipped. Blood can be drawn on-site. I rarely, if ever, have had to wait long before my appointment time; I'm surprised, as medical problems don't necessarily fit into nice reliable blocks of time. Getting through to talk to reception can be a challenge at peak times--but I suppose that is true with any office.

I went for years without ever going to a doctor for routine checkups until I had a medical wake up call, that could of been a very bad event. Since then I have had testing and follow up from Dr Geyer on a regular basis and my health has turned around. The visits with him and his nurses are friendly, professional, timely and they always take the time to explain things to me. I never have to worry about prescription refills as he takes care of that while I'm in his office. I love the reminders they put out so that there is never a reason to forget about your appointment. If you want to rub elbows with the clowns and carnies at the 'Circus of the Absurd' en route to seeing your doctor, this is the place for you. I had a great doctor in Dallas (Dr. Bonnet) and I could not find a satisfactory one after moving to Austin that met my scrupulous checks & desire for excellence. At other offices I was rushed through appointments, kept waiting endlessly due to overbooking, or not questioned well during the appointment or answered thoroughly...or not called back when I had a question or needed something or had to get a refill, etc... Dr. Browining is unique & wonderful!! And I thank the above posters who allowed me to finally find him! You are not only never kept waiting for much time at all, he is amazingly smart in discussions, he is so thorough in questions and answers that you feel you are his only patient... He has state-of-the-art equipment. He is caring, thorough, and beyond impressive. I've already recommended him and immediately gotten the response back that he was an incredible doctor who spends a great deal of time to ensure you are cared for. He will not schedule unecessary procedures or cram patients in as so many doctors do when a monetary business becomes a goal over care...yet, like today when I needed an ultrasound, (which is what made me think to write this), he ensures I immediately get the care needed. Care is evident in this office...but that means very little if the physician isn't a brilliant doctor...and I've been beyond impressed in that regard as well. She made a recommendation for a lab test that my cardiologist should order for my high cholesterol. Called 24 hours later with the name of the Dr. only to be told they're "working" on it but now i was told it was gonna take up to 10 days. The communication is terrible and someone may tell you something one day and someone else is gonna tell you something completely different the next day. I wish these things could be said the first time instead of having to call 3 different days to get 3 different answers. The communication is terrible and seems like they don't know what they're doing. I wouldn't have an issue if these things were told in the first call i made. Ive been needing PT and its been beyond a hassle to get a referral after they recommended someone. I had a good experience in my first visit but this just voids that good visit. If you decide to go with them, make sure to ask every question and find out everything before hand so there's no surprised later.
