Seth was the only medical professional who took the time to dig deep and tried to find a root cause. He is also the only medical professional that tested me for Lyme disease. Unfortunately, that came back positive. He's been overseeing my treatment and I am making progress. Words can't express how much we appreciate Seth and the work he's doing. He has positively impacted our lives and we are grateful for him.

Dr. Ikbal is shockingly misinformed about nutrition, pushing urban legends that were disproved…read moredecades ago. This is all the more astounding because nutrition was her undergraduate degree. She also doesn't appear to practice evidence-based medicine. After her asking me what I eat in a typical day, she asked, "Where do you get your protein?" (Ugh. The idea that protein is hard to come by is flatly wrong and severely outdated. As Dr. Nestle, chair of the NY University nutrition dept. said, *26* years ago "We never talk about protein anymore, because it's absolutely not an issue, even among children. If anything, we talk about the dangers of high-protein diets. Getting enough is simply a matter of getting enough calories." The DV/RDA is ~8% of calories from protein, while grains are ~13% protein, vegetables 23%, etc.) She then tried to tell me that I had to combine plants foods to get a complete protein. (That was an urban legend promoted by a popular 1971 book, whose author recanted ten years later. The USDA nutrient database shows that individual vegetables, grains, and beans have all essential amino acids, in higher amounts than what we need.) Finally, she said I should eat more fat. I asked if there were science to support the idea that an addition of fat to an otherwise healthy diet improves health outcomes. Her reply was like, "I've been a doctor for 20 years...." Meaning, no science. By the way, she asked why I chose her, and I said that one of her patients wrote in a review about how he was able to get off all his meds for Crohn's Disease. Dr. Ikbal replied that the patient took himself off the meds, it wasn't her doing. Anyway, after hearing so much misinformation in just a brief, limited interaction, I have to wonder what other misinformation Dr. Ikbal is operating on. If you want a physician who practices evidence-based medicine, you'll probably want to look elsewhere. UPDATE: After I left the above review, suddenly DOZENS of glowing 5-star reviews appeared within a few days, about 1/3 of which are from people not even in the Austin area, many not even in the same state, and many of whom have zero other reviews on Yelp. Yelp has understandably moved most of these to the "Reviews Not Recommended" section. Is Dr. Ikbal buying fake reviews? Draw your own conclusions.

Like other women on yelp... if I could give Dr. Abikhalid 6 stars I would too!…read more Office is clean, beautiful. Staff are nice, her appts run pretty much on time. Im a GenXer, entering perimenopause at 49yrs old. I just moved to TX fm Southern California where I had access to some of the best medical in the world HOAG, UCLA, USC medical centers. Looking back I was prob in peri around age 44-45 with heavy cycles, brainfog, back sweats, major insomnia. She was one of the ONLY MD's who actually listened, saw and heard me. Its NOT normal to "deal with our next phase female symptoms". I went for a second opinion on a hysterectomy after seeing another gyn who I felt was treating me like a paycheck vs a patient. I was also gaining weight at a rapid amt which has never happened in my entire life. Dr. Abikhaled listened to me, explained why I am indeed a candidate for a hysterectomy based on my labs, ultrasound, biopsy, symptoms. She was also transparent sharing if I didn't feel comfortable or confident with her, she had 2 other colleagues she could refer me to. THIS is the type of medicine I need for me. Dr. Abikhalid is also a very clear communicator. She is very frank while having a nice bedside manner which I appreciate. Fast forward to pre-surgery consultation, based on my case I discussed keeping my ovaries bc Im not in full meno yet and didn't want to slam into meno like some of my friends did. She agreed that was a good option for me. I had my hysterectomy, preserving my ovaries via robotic surgery. It was 90min, outpatient. She was sure to have my pain meds ordered ahead of time. I had 4 small incisions from the surgery. No bleeding. I was off oxy on day 3. Managed pain with Tylenol/motrin. 1 week out I felt pretty strong, an ab binder would have been useful for the 1st 2 weeks esp for sleeping so buy 1 ahead of time (amazon has tons). Helps for ab core support. 3 weeks I was doing short walks outside yet still got fatigued pretty easily. Got back on my hrt patch and no more brain fog, no more insomnia, no more swollen hands and ankles. 6weeks I felt strong and fatigue finally was gone. I was cleared to do light weights again. Im at 8weeks. Im back exercising. Lifting up to 30lb. Back to weight training. Feeling strong, clear headed, no more swelling in my feet/ankles, insomnia is very little and i still get "mild" back sweats around 2/3am. Nothing like pre-hysterectomy where i was sweating through my shirt. If you have peri symptoms and painful or super heavy cycles like I had that is NOT normal. See Dr. Abikahlid. She is one of the best in womens health.

Needless to say, I changed doctors, which led me to Premier Family Physicians. I was seen the same day by Dr. Taura Khorramshahi affectionately known as "Dr. K". I am extremely disappointed with the way my appointment was handled. I was contacted by the office…read moreand told that, due to office policy, I was being reclassified from an established patient to a new patient because I had not been seen in three years. While I understand that offices may have policies, the impact of this change was a clear decrease in the level of service provided. As an established patient, I had originally scheduled a 10-minute appointment with my primary care physician, Dr. Michael Lifshen. After being reclassified as a new patient, I was told that I could no longer see him during my scheduled appointment time and would have to wait until the following day for a new patient appointment. When I asked about a same-day option, I was told I could see his PA instead of my physician. Since this was not what I had scheduled and I wanted to see my actual primary care provider, I declined. The office then rescheduled me with a different doctor who has no familiarity with my medical history or previous care. The entire purpose of having a primary care physician is continuity of care and having a provider who understands your medical background. This policy resulted in unnecessary inconvenience and left me without access to the physician I specifically chose for my care. A policy change should not come at the expense of patient experience, continuity, or quality of care. I hope the office reconsiders how this transition is handled for existing patients in the future. After the reclassification, I was also required to re-enter and upload all of my information again through the check-in app, even though I had already completed this process previously. This added another unnecessary layer of redundancy and frustration to an already disruptive experience.
