We had an exceptional experience at Vik Complete Care early this morning around 4:30am for severe dehydration. We were taken to a room within 5 minutes and greeted by two nurses who immediately began consultation and setting up the IV. I love how quick the discharge process was -- they make it so simple for you. Shoutout to Colin and Sherry, they are the best nurses we have come across and that says a lot given we are in an ER every few months. They are very great at making you feel heard and overall just amazingly nice people. The best of the best. Dr. Wright was very knowledgeable and just as respectful/nice as the nurses. Dr. Wright spent the time with us that a lot of medical providers fail to do. He explained options, possible effects, and helped us with decision making. He never made us feel like he was in a rush. He listened and advised. Thank you for that. Overall, we were taken very good care of at Vik Complete Care and will certainly choose this location in the future. That red and white"EMERGENCY" sign out front only means somebody probably went skiing in Switzerland. Four "nurses" nearly dropped my husband, the only time I saw the MD he was sitting at his computer....the only real contribution of "VIK COMPLETE CARE" accomplished was to determine my husband really did have an EMERGENCY, and call an ambulance (without authorization). They were clearly more interested in running a credit card for $500 than they were about my husband. They addressed NONE of the issues listed below. My husband was in ST.David's SHOCK ICU for over a week and the regular ICU for another 8 days. He had a collapsed lung, broken ribs and suffered a cerebelllum stroke. In the ER his BP and heart rate was erratic so they installed an "exterior" heart moniter. The surgeon said he was too weak to do a CABG so, so after several days, they installed a heart moniter. The stroke affected his ability to swallow....fluid going into his lungs risked pneumonia and caused choking. That was further exacerbated by the collection of phlegm. He was being fed through his nose. He couldn't talk....and the two day suction routine was terrifying. He was on a catheter the entire time. Kudos for the staff at St. Davids....Cardiologists, Surgeons, Nurses, Social Workers.....all of them. My husband is now well enough (the feeding tube has been moved to his stomach) to be transferred to St. David's Rehab Unit where (hopefully) he will embrace their efforts to make him strong enough for the CABG (open heart surgery)......which he desperately needs. His vitals are being constantly monitored through his phone. My opinion is shared by all the medical personnel I meet. So if it's the flu, a cut or a severe contusion VIK COMPLETE CARE might be OK. But if you think it might be something more, my advice is to DRIVE RIGHT BY THE SWISS SKI SIGN AND GO TO A REAL ER! read more

Rarely do you get a physician who will sit, listen, and ensure you're comfortable; he did all this. The staff who cared for me, Collin, Sherie, and Angel, made this visit even better. They all cared, listened, checked on me constantly, and ensured I knew they were here if I needed anything. I've had many good experiences at this clinic, but this review is specifically for the care provided by Dr. Roe and the Nursing Director, Ryan. I came in with acute abdominal pain that had been happening for way too long, that had continued to go misdiagnosed as constipation by my GI doctor. I got frustrated and tired of dealing with the pain so I came to the ER, knowing they'd have a more comprehensive overview and diagnostic tools. Dr. Roe patiently listened to my (extensive) medical history, helped me get my pain under control, and then went to work trying to figure out what was going on. We did have one small speed bump, but after a CT scan it was eventually discovered that I had a cecal bascule - a fold on my colon. Dr. Roe took the initiative to call a surgeon and get an appointment for the very next morning. He also took the initiative to call my GI doctor to give him the latest. He gave me the option of staying in the facility to be monitored overnight until my appointment the next morning. I know this is long but it's been a very long time since I've met a doctor like Dr. Roe who truly listens to a patient in this way. And when we hit a snag, he took the time to figure it out instead of taking It for face value. This kind of care, compared with the fact that this facility does not do back billing (so you always know what you're paying from the beginning) will be why I will continue to return to this facility. So I recently had an altercation with my chainsaw...it won . The last place I want to go is a big hospital right now but thankfully VIKs ER is in my hood. This place was my one stop shopping when my kids were younger when it seemed every other minute we were breaking things, tearing things or catching things. Dr. Roe and staff were awesome. From check in to check out they were professional, compassionate and gentle. Dr. Roe made sure I got the medical attention I needed at the moment and the immediate care I would need after. I even got a follow up call to make sure I was doing ok and to see if I had been in contact with the next set of professionals that would assist in my care. The best. I cannot recommend this facility enough. I've been there probably 5 times in the past few years and each time I feel like all of their staff truly cares about my family. Today I took in my daughter with severe tonsillitis and they cared for her compassionately and took the time to discuss the issues, medications, labs and recommendations for future care. This is not a typical urgent care, it feels like a caring family practice that is always available. Dr Daniel Roe took care of us today. I unfortunately broke my toe today and rushed over to Vik Complete Care immediately in order to confirm it was broken and get medical care for said toe. Dr. Allensworth and his staff immediately got me in with NO wait at all (around 7pm none the less) and took great care of me! I have been to a few urgent cares for various injuries and have never received such stellar care before. They were able to quickly get a mobile x-ray of my foot so I didn't have to walk to a different room in severe pain and assessed the fracture. Unfortunately, I did in fact break my pinky toe in two places (ouch!) but Dr. Allensworth quickly got my foot in a boot to ensure proper realignment and was able to take care of my pain and ensure I would be able to make it through the night instead of spending all evening awake and in pain. If you ever find yourself injured or hurt I suggest you rush to Vik Complete Care immediately and you will be back to new in no time. Awesome staff from the Doctors to the Nurses and Front Desk Staff that were kind, compassionate and understanding. They made me feel comfortable in a horrible situation and took the mind off my pain and truly care about their patients through and through. If I could give 6 stars I would because this facility is truly the best care you can receive in Texas! No likes going to the emergency room, especially during the era of the pandemic, but if you HAVE to go, there's no place I could recommend more highly than VIK. It was very clean and there was essentially no wait, the room was like a hotel room, and Dr. Roe is one of the best doctors I've had the pleasure of meeting in Austin. He was refreshingly straightforward, he got to the bottom of my husband's kidney stone issue quickly, and even personally called his urologist when it became apparent he needed more immediate attention. I went to Vik Westlake because I thought i had the flu and they had a good Yelp rating. I was also looking for somewhere that would be open all night in case i need to return anytime. I cannot complain about the service I received from all departments (reception, doctor, lab and x-rays). They listened to me and didnt talk down to me when filling me in on my illness which turned out to be bronchitis. They were kind and considerate. I have been there a number of times since my primary physician moved (didn't like her that much anyway) a couple years ago and each time I have been pleased with the service and care provided. The wait (for walk-in) has never been more than 45 minutes and the doctors are typically very helpful and take time to understand what's going on before promptly taking action. I've never been lectured or made to feel bad for either coming in for something I stupidly did to myself or that perhaps wasn't especially needing "urgent" care. I've also been referred by the doctors here to other excellent doctors/specialists. Important stuff aside, they have a fantastic aquarium in the waiting room, along with a flat-screen TV that's generally showing something interesting, as well as a playstation and gamecube which I guess are for "the kids" but that I personally enjoy immensely. read more

I came in for abdominal pain during my pregnancy. The guy taking my vitals was extremely weird and rude to my fiancé. Asked my fiancé to "get up from the chair" so that I could get undressed. He then paused and waited for my fiancé to actually get up!! I explained to him, that as soon as he left the room- I'd put on the hospital gown. The nurse advised me that my hcg levels could be measured through my urine...umm, no! That test is done through blood work, sir. It gets worse.... The ultrasound tech, Brittany was incompetent. She took a bunch of pictures, of everything except my pregnancy and ran out of the room. When we asked her to return & please take some pics of the gestational sac, she agreed to..but then unplugged the machine and ran to the hallway. We were the only clients there and clearly they don't see many people. I hate that I wasted time and money here. read more

I went in for allergies that had turned into acute bronchitis and were making a fast path for pneumonia... did you know that could happen? And pneumonia takes months to get over. If you are super stubborn like me and think that your "cold"/allergies/cough will go away, it won't. Once it is in your chest you are screwed... and not in a good way. no. this is a moaning that will keep you up at night and leave you unsated. After not sleeping for a week because this hacking cough woke me up at 2 am, I decided to have it looked at and I remembered that this Urgent Care takes my insurance. Dr. Tsai was caring and efficient and gave me some allergy stuff and wrote a prescription for 5 days of antibiotics - a Z-pack. When he asked if there is anything else, I realized that there was... what is wrong with my finger? For about 6 weeks my little finger has been bent at the last joint. Bent, like, 45 degrees bent. It totally looks broken but it doesn't hurt. I can't straighten it. Dr. Tsai says it is called 'Mallet Finger' and goes online to show me some information about how the tendons are no longer doing their job. He has corrected other cases of Mallet Finger by bending a splint so that the joint is straight and even a little bent in the opposite direction. This allows scar tissue to form and reconnect the tendons so that they can do their job. The body is an amazing thing... how it can heal itself. "However, you have waited 6 weeks... if this doesn't work you may need surgery. What did you do?" "I don't remember." "It is usually a very traumatic accident that causes this... you would remember it. The prime accident to separate those tendons is hitting it full on with a hammer... which is why it is called Mallet Finger." They x-rayed it and confirmed it was not broken and then Dr. Tsai custom fit the splint to my little finger. It is in a "U" shape so that the joint can crank in the other direction a bit. If it doesn't heal itself in 5 more weeks, I go to the hand specialist that he recommended. I saw a Doctor who wrote prescriptions for allergies and antibiotics, he diagnosed my Mallet Finger, x-rayed it, then he made a splint and all for $30 with my insurance. I don't use my insurance much and if I actually take a look at that being my only Doctor's visit in 6 months, it probably cost me a couple thousand bucks. There is a debate in this review, somewhere. I remember now. I slammed it in a car door after missing a plane. Hurt like a motherfucker. read more

I had hives on my legs yesterday. First I got on the internet to see if I could diagnose myself. The problem with that, is you have to look at images which quickly go from the tame to the terrifying, and then I was both certain and terrified of spider bites, and other things that crawl in the night. I could not stand the itching any longer, and if I was indeed dying from the bite of a deadly spider, I needed to be sure. Not wanting to spend thousands at the ER, as it was a Saturday, after 4:00 pm, I searched Yelp for urgent care places and noticed this place with a high rating and a 5-star recommendation from Kimberly K. I called to make sure they were in network with my insurance, which they were, so I hopped in the car and drove over there. The waiting room was warm and inviting with a large fish tank, leather chairs and sofas. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The intake paperwork was minimal. My name was quickly called and the medical assistant, Vanessa, escorted me to an exam room with some pretty cool Austin artwork. She collected the rest of the information usually done on intake paperwork and entered it into the computer as I answered. She even laughed at my quirky humor as I explained I had tried to diagnose on line and the photos of rashes and bites terrified me. Apparently, I am not alone in internet diagnosis. I was quickly seen by Dr. Williams. She was thorough and explained it looked less like a bite and more like contact dermatitis. She gave me the option of a steroid shot or pills, and a prescription for a cream. I opted for the shot and asked if the cream would end up being one of those newer ones that end up needing a pre-approval or costing me a small fortune. I explained that last year, by Dr. had prescribed a cream for dry hands, but when I went to pick it up, it was almost $200 and that I had a fundamental problem paying more for hand cream that Champagne. She laughed and said it should be a pretty affordable one, but liked my priorities for Champagne. She then asked to look at my hands to see if I still had the issue. I explained it flaired up more in the winter. She also asked to look at my feet (being thorough). Fast forward, five minutes later, steroid shot in hip and scrip in hand, I headed to the desk to check out. As I pulled out my wallet, Crystal at the front desk said that since my deductible was so close, they would just bill insurance and send me a bill for the balance. I asked if they wanted to estimate and I could pay today, and she said it was OK. She also offered to send me an on-line payment link with the bill which was awesome, because who writes checks anymore? There are two morals to this story: 1 - Stay off the internet when diagnosing, because the pictures are terrifying and chances are, you are not dying of a spider bite when a simple cream and a shot will cure you. 2 - If you find yourself needing an urgent care provider, head over to VIK Medical (they have 3 locations) for top notch patient care, in an inviting setting, with a human touch and a smile. In full disclosure, I updated this once before saying that they were somewhat decent after giving them a second chance. But they have screwed me once again, and so I'm done with them forever. With so many doctors available out there - there's little reason I should have gone back. I think it was the crazy good hours and the fact that they actually had a website. Any doctors/businessmen/businesswomen /whatever reading: you're not legit in the eyes of a under 30 year old unless you have a website, however crappy it may be. I went in feeling pretty bad. I had one of those weird headaches at the back of the head, part of the side of my face was completely numb, and I was having pain that would "shoot" through my back. They took my temperature and all that, and the doctor came in, took a few looks at me, and said that I seemed fine. They were ready to kick me out the door, but I insisted on at least a blood test, so they did that. I swear this guy probably thought I was seeking drugs. So I get a frantic-ish call later from the doctor saying my white blood cell count was slightly elevated and that basically - I might have been sick. So he asks me if I have an infection which I think sort of defeats the purpose of going to the doctor, but we go through the list. He's at a loss, but says "make an appointment if it's still happening in a few days" So I go back later, assuming that the doctor would own up to his responsibilities, but I forgot this the healthcare profession where only patents pay for screw-ups. I refused to pay (I have insurance, so really I'm almost being petty. but if no one fights this stuff, these doctors get away with everything) and left. Think about it - where else can a person say "You come to me with this problem, and I'm not going to do anything about it. You're still going to pay me though". I visited Google that night, did 30 minutes of research and had a probable answer. Went straight to the specialist and got it taken care of. The moral of the story? Doctors aren't special. Doctors are business-people with MDs. They only care about your health in so much that it lets them drive their Viper and nail models behind their spouses' backs. read more

Horrible argumentative physician who acted as if he was doing a psychiatric intervention on my son who was sick and didn't feel much like talking. I'm his mother even at age 16 it's my job to be his advocate. Together we were listing of his symptoms. This P.A. Christopher Clint stated after being told what my son's symptoms were that he "wasn't convinced" what the hell is that type of behavior? I've been a nurse for 10 years and a mom for 25. This man was completely incompetent, my son suffered through the night until I could take him to another clinic the next morning. I've never felt the urge to just throw something at a doctor and run out. But I certainly did with him. Even my son said the P.A. made him feel weird with his behavior. Bee Caves Medical has a very efficient billing system. I wish I could say the same for their delivery of test results. I went to the doctor in early January for the dreaded "cedar fever."" I also elected to get a comprehensive allergy screen in order to see when I would need to consider taking allergy medication. I never saw a doctor, only a nurse, who drew my blood for the test. I was told to wait about 1 month (!!) for the results. One week later came a bill in the mail for the test. But one month later, still no test results. After repeated calls and two months of waiting, I was told my blood was "misplaced" and I should be getting results soon. In the meantime, they said I would not be charged for the test, so I ignored the latest bill (which I was refusing to pay until I received the actual services). Three months or so later I finally got the results. Now, six months later, Bee Caves Medical has sent the bill to collection for the $35 dollars or so they say I owe. I can't get anyone to return my call in the billing office, so I have had to file a protest with the collection agency. I can't rate the doctors, as I never saw one. The one star is for the fish tank. At least the fish look happy. read more

Not impressed by this place. Let me start from the beginning. Front desk was polite and helpful. Let us sign in and then leave since there was a two hour wait to be seen at the Urgent Care. If that is the case, why can't I just make an appointment or sign in over the phone. I had to leave a baby puppy at home alone to drive my very sick girlfriend out to West Lake only to turn back around and go home to wait. Insurance: They want payment in full after being seen. My girlfriend has a regional metro DC area Blue Cross that has a deductible for out of state coverage (she hasn't changed it over yet until the allowed time) Knowing this, they still want a 70% payment. My girlfriend goes through the appointment. She had flu like symptoms last weekend that got a bit worse leading to wheezing and a compressed lung. This made me think she might have walking pneumonia. She calls me from the office and mentions the doctor asked her if she was depressed or had anxiety. What exactly does that have to do with a persistent cough and chest soreness? I found that to be odd. Let me continue. It gets better. Knowing that she has an out of state insurance and will have to most likely pay out of pocket, the doctor orders the following. 1. Blood work. 2. X- Ray. 3. EKG. My girlfriend calls me while in the office and let's me know this. I tell her the bill for an X Ray without coverage will be enormous so it's best to wait. Do the bloodwork and see what the results find. I'm too late and they have already taken the X-Ray. I tell her to refuse the EKG which she does. Lord knows how much money this place is trying to suck out of us. (Mind you, I understand the importance of certain tests. I do however feel it's the responsibility of the doctor not to lead the patient into very expensive exams before checking bloodwork especially when out of the coverage area for the insurance) Everything comes back negative. She calls me upset but I let her know it's a good thing she at least knows results. She goes to pay (in full) and guess what. The system is down. I can't wait to see the number we are going to have to pay when it's back up. Side note: my girlfriend was prescribed steroids (which she said she was uncomfortable taking) as well as antibiotics. If the bloodwork is negative, what are the antibiotics for? We live in a time where the news is constantly talking about antibiotic resistant bacteria and the need to lower the amount of unnecessary antibiotic prescriptions. Last but not least. The doctor prescribed my girlfriend with antibiotics she listed as having "severe allergic reactions" for. If he hadn't called her a few minutes later (or if she was on the phone for work like she normally is all day long, we would have had a life changing moment on our hands today). They are lucky this review is (probably) as far as I'm going to take it. One word to summarize. Careless. Update: to this day no one has contacted me. Definition of the word careless. I tell anyone that will listen that Dr. Vik & his team should be on speed dial. I'm a mom of 2 small children who always happen to get sick um, after 5pm & on weekends. Bee Caves Medical has been our go to doctors for over 5 years now. I love that it's walk-ins ONLY. The longest I've ever waited was 1 hour & that was during flu season. Who honestly can't say they've waited an hour for a doctor when they had an appointment. They are awesome & once you've checked in, you can tell them you are leaving & they will call you when there is 2 people ahead of you. I don't know about you, but for an ear or sinus infection, I do NOT want to sit around a room full of sick people. I'm a geeky girl & I love that they don't play around. They are high tech. They don't try to guess what you have. Most times they will do blood tests or swabs then & there. Within 5 minutes you KNOW what you have. You know if it's strep or flu or an infection or NOTHING. It's great to know, especially when you have little ones that can't really tell you how they feel. They take most insurance and I've only ever had to pay a Dr copay! They can also do stitches & xrays too. How many times have you gone to a typical Doctor & been given a prescription for what they think you have only to get back your test results in a week. Seriously, Bee Caves Medical RULES. Did I mention they are open EVERY DAY from 8am-8pm & closed very few holiday. I hate giving away this info but it's for the greater good of Austin. After having been a patient for ten years, I am very disappointed with the way I was treated. I have had very poor experiences the last few visits and would not recommend this practice to anyone looking for attention and exceptional care. I did not realize how much insurance influenced this practice until I decided it was time to see a real family practice. What I lost in convenience of hours and walk-in style appointments, was far outweighed by switching to a provider who is genuinely concerned and valued patient satisfaction/experience. I hate to ever write anything negative, but I would hate for anyone else to trade convenience for quality of care. However, if you are experiencing a mild emergency, need a quick physical, or want to see a doctor before you leave for vacation this place is perfect for you. They can squeeze you in with a PA & get you out in no time. read more

I mean seriously. You know what stinks? When people have one bad experience and run straight to Yelp to write a review that lives on in perpetuity. It's cool, that's the power of the internet! So let me drop some truth into perpetuity. Coming from the multiple experiences my friends and I have had, Dr. Vik and staff are fantastic. He's frank, friendly, and intelligent. Their office is clean, their services are many, their staff is helpful. Whether you or your kid are in need of urgent care, you won't find a better place. If you're in need of seeing a doctor for things that are generally out of purview for urgent care facilities... look no further! I'm a 31 year old dad of 3 and spent years never having a personal doctor until I found Dr. Vik. What other well established general do it all physician just allows you to walk in and see them?! And what's more... If you are an established patient, they will allow you to call ahead and put your name on the list! They'll even call you when it's about time for you to be up (Full Disclosure: I've never experienced this because I typically go right in after calling, I have friends who swear by the call ahead/call back with them though). Saves me time, saves my family's health. I'm proud to say that Dr. Vik is my guy. When I originally found Dr. Vik, it was from a group of my friends. I was complaining to them about a misdiagnosis and poor treatment I'd received (again) at another urgent care. All of a sudden I was met with one of those moments where a man starts with "I'm telling you..." and slaps his hand on the table for emphasis. He proceeds to tell me how great Vik is. At that point the rest of the group chimes in to back him up. After multiple visits all I can say is, I get it. The people that know what's up, love Vik Medical. Don't concern yourself with the curmudgeons laying disparaging reviews down on this guy. Go check it out, thank me later. read more

Addendum: SPRINKLES ON TOP 5/19/16- received a follow-up call from the ER management to make sure I was feeling better and to remind me to schedule my follow-up appts with my GP and specialist. This was even more remarkable. I'm a healthcare provider and it's rare to find another office that goes to this length to extend care-especially an ER! Very impressed! Thank you SO much. read more

This is the worst medical practice I have ever been to. The records and billing staff are very rude even when asked very simple, common questions. Such as, "Do I need identification to order my medical record?" The front desk staff is nice but not the most competent. This is a walk-in clinic, so it's very important that the front desk staff manage the walk-ins so that everyone is seen in the order in which they arrived. The front desk staff forgot to put me in line twice. You have to constantly ask them how much longer you have to wait, or they will forget about you. I have been there several times and never met with a doctor, only physician's assistants. The first one I saw was very nice, but the second one didn't listen to my symptoms. She prescribed an additional treatment through an outside company, and she told them incorrect symptoms. Not very helpful. The only good thing about this place is their hours. read more

I have been going to Dr. Vik since 2004. He has wonderful staff and a nice waiting room. I like the fact there is coffee waiting for me! There is also an aquarium to relax to and also a TV to watch while you are waiting. There are three locations for your convenience and I have been to two of them: Bee Caves and 620. Both are wonderful and well-staffed. When you register, the staff is very helpful and nice. They have always been truthful about the wait time and, in fact, when I went to the Bee Caves location several weeks ago, they told me the wait would be two hours but I could get in the 620 location fairly quickly. I made the decision to go to the 620 location and I'm glad I did. I was in and out of there within an hour. The doctors are friendly, the nurses are friendly and helpful, and I generally do not enjoy going to the doctors, but they make it a pleasant experience. I highly recommend this place! read more

Need to correct my statement that "Their billing department won't accidentally send you 5 million bills saying you owe them money if you have non-standard insurance." Completely false as I have found out. I stopped going to Bee Caves Medical a long time ago but the bills keep coming no matter how many times I pay for the exact same bill. I've called them so many times, faxed copies of past checks, nothing stops it. So far I've paid over $500 for a $126 visit. read more

I am very late in writing a review of excellence regarding my experience at the Westlake location of VIK Complete Care. My 2 visits to the VIK Clinic were in the middle of Dec., 2021. Can you imagine a worse time to think yourself very ill with...gulp..COVID? I was in a near panic but drove myself there from SW Austin, and was seen with about a 5 min wait, by Dr. Roe and his medical assistant or nurse. Can't begin to describe how thorough a going over I had! Naturally, nasal swabs, but also blood draws, and all done in a hygienic small office. I had fever and a cough, BUT: I did not have Coronovirus! I was quickly tested for 20+ bacterial and viral syndromes, but was assured that it was not COVID, but rather a form of hMPV. (Results available within 10 min. of having been sent through a computerized assessment process) Dr. Roe called in a very high strength cough med to my pharmacy, which was ready by the time I got to my pharmacy. The next day, I began to worry that perhaps I was developing Pneumonia, so back out to the VIK Clinic I went for chest Xrays which were read within 10 minutes, and, 'No', I was not getting pneumonia. Two days in a row at VIK and I felt so very reassured. Naturally, I spent Christmas at home, with lots of soup, but I was able to rest and heal without anxiety or fear of having to sit in an Emergency Room of an urban hospital with all its accompanying maladies. Dr.Roe called me at home to see how I was progressing! I didn't have much of a Christmas holiday but I was able to spend it without anxiety and fear, and without having been exposed to a crowded major hospital ER. read more
