That red and white"EMERGENCY" sign out front only means somebody probably went skiing in Switzerland. Four "nurses" nearly dropped my husband, the only time I saw the MD he was sitting at his computer....the only real contribution of "VIK COMPLETE CARE" accomplished was to determine my husband really did have an EMERGENCY, and call an ambulance (without authorization). They were clearly more interested in running a credit card for $500 than they were about my husband. They addressed NONE of the issues listed below. My husband was in ST.David's SHOCK ICU for over a week and the regular ICU for another 8 days. He had a collapsed lung, broken ribs and suffered a cerebelllum stroke. In the ER his BP and heart rate was erratic so they installed an "exterior" heart moniter. The surgeon said he was too weak to do a CABG so, so after several days, they installed a heart moniter. The stroke affected his ability to swallow....fluid going into his lungs risked pneumonia and caused choking. That was further exacerbated by the collection of phlegm. He was being fed through his nose. He couldn't talk....and the two day suction routine was terrifying. He was on a catheter the entire time. Kudos for the staff at St. Davids....Cardiologists, Surgeons, Nurses, Social Workers.....all of them. My husband is now well enough (the feeding tube has been moved to his stomach) to be transferred to St. David's Rehab Unit where (hopefully) he will embrace their efforts to make him strong enough for the CABG (open heart surgery)......which he desperately needs. His vitals are being constantly monitored through his phone. My opinion is shared by all the medical personnel I meet. So if it's the flu, a cut or a severe contusion VIK COMPLETE CARE might be OK. But if you think it might be something more, my advice is to DRIVE RIGHT BY THE SWISS SKI SIGN AND GO TO A REAL ER!

http://www.beecavesmedical.com/ Bee Caves Medical is a family medical and urgent care clinic. I have been there a number of times since my primary physician moved (didn't like her that much anyway) a couple years ago and each time I have been pleased with the service and care provided. The wait (for walk-in) has never been more than 45 minutes and the doctors are typically very helpful and take time to understand what's going on before promptly taking action. I've never been lectured or made to feel bad for either coming in for something I stupidly did to myself or that perhaps wasn't especially needing "urgent" care. I've also been referred by the doctors here to other excellent doctors/specialists. Important stuff aside, they have a fantastic aquarium in the waiting room, along with a flat-screen TV that's generally showing something interesting, as well as a playstation and gamecube which I guess are for "the kids" but that I personally enjoy immensely.

Unfortunately this has become a home away from home for my family. I've personally been to the ER twice with a severe laceration and major poison ivy. My kids have been in for Bells Palsy and several other illnesses. The team did a great job and have a super friendly staff.

I just spent 5 intense days in this wonderful facility for removal of a massive gallbladder. It was…read morequite an ordeal and I'm not gonna pretend I remember every moment perfectly because I was being given IV pain medication. First of all... Donna, my ER nurse was amazing. She is so easy to talk to, personable, knowledgeable... and she can sure hit a vein! They once called her up to my hospital room to insert a new IV and I was thrilled to see her again! I've had previous experience with Donna and she's always wonderful. I had two doctors. My surgeon, Dr. Alex Santos, is amazing doctor! Performed a very difficult removal of a gallbladder the size of a baseball. Very attentive. The on-site doctor, Dr. Laney, is probably one of the most caring doctors I have ever encountered in a hospital. He was always nearby. Great bedside manner. You can tell this man truly loves helping people. My nurses were like superheroes. They did everything they could to make sure I was as comfortable as possible during a time when I was experiencing the worst pain of my life. I can't say enough. James handled my first (and most intense) night like a champion. He even had me doing breathing exercises with him. He was born to do what he does. I can't thank him enough! The other nurses were all wonderful with the exception of one! The last nurse I had, Dan, was the polar opposite of every other nurse. Dan was beyond rude. I fell that he chose the wrong profession. He did and said so many ugly things, I don't even have the energy to type it all! But he shouldn't be a nurse. I wouldn't even want that man making me a latte. For now I will assume Dan is gone, or he was having the worst day of his life, because so many other ppl here need 5 stars. But he would get 1. The woman who made my meals was also darling! She found out I was vegan and after a day... she had done her research and added things to the menu special just for me! Just above and beyond! But of all the staff, the one who holds my heart is the Tec, Curtis! Curtis was there for me through it all. He was kind, compassionate, witty, caring, and he was ahead of everything that was happening. Always making sure I had what I needed and was doing what I needed to do. He even helped me walk the halls during recovery. I will miss him dearly and hope I can somehow thank him for being there with me through something so difficult. Thank you Curtis! You're my MVP. And thank you to the entire staff (not Dan) for everything you did for me! I will only use this hospital from here on.

My name is Brenda Haas-Villalta. I had a 3 level spinal fusion- on April 12th of this year. Let me…read morestart by saying I have worked in the medical field for 20 years as a nursing assistant. I become very ill 2 years ago and developed a idiopathic falling disorder to which I still suffer from. I also have a high pain tolerance. When I was 41 years of age, I broke my hip. It was non traumatic when it happened. Unbeknownst to me I had severe osteoporosis. My femoral hip broke just from standing up so fast. Then of course I fell to the ground. And had to have surgery. It had to be done ASAP in order to stop any chances of infection. The very next morning they had me walking up and down the hospital with a walker. It was like a walk in the park to me and I didn't even need extra pain medicine at that point. They use two plates two rods and 12 screws. My point for bringing this up is I have a very strong pain tolerance and for you to understand the rest of the story you can kind of gauge of where I'm coming from.when I had my 3 tier spinal fusion on April 12th that's when I was at the mercy of the hospital and a very poor nursing staff. Let me start by telling you, when I woke up from surgery I thought that I was just going to die. I couldn't believe the amount of pain I was in. Then I come out to find the nurses saying hold on will get you some pain medicine. Really people? Anytime I needed to use the bathroom or a bed pan it would take up to 30 minutes sometime for someone to come they always shut the door so nobody hears you. When I was done I would ring the button and nobody would come by the time it was over 20 minutes I was screaming crying and begging them not to ignore me to come help me. They came when they heard that. They treated me physically rough and had no sense of compassion whatsoever. The first night there I was scolded like a six-year-old because I brought my own medication to show them so they would know what I needed. They try to embarrass me and talk about each one of how many there was and write it down. I wasn't embarrassed every single thing I had was a prescription from a doctor. She asked the nurse next to her to sign it, and the nurse + why. And the older nurse said it's just procedure just sign it. That's when the bell started going off in my head. They had no idea that I was a medical professional of 20 years. They did not in-service any of the staff on how to gently move me or pivot me. That should've been a regulatory thing for them to do before trying to help me move. They did not do this. So every time they move me it was like agony every second. Then they would get annoyed because I couldn't get up fast enough for them and say things under their breath. The one time I had a bowel movement in my bed pan and I heard the nurses complaining and she was cursing saying I don't get paid enough shit to do this. Then on many occasions I heard the nurses arguing over who was going to toilet me. One because I take so long and two they didn't like having to lift me up. And you could hear them down the hallway arguing about this. And this one the door was open. I weighed 135 pounds soaking wet. So I was not heavy at all for two people to lift. Yet they bitched Mont to complain about it and so they started sending in mail staff only. Everyone of the male staff or wonderful nurses treated me kindly and did not hurt me. All the females were exactly the opposite. And I never got my medication's to where I was supposed to. I would ask and explain ask and explain and tell them to compare the ones they took. But it didn't happen that way. I had to call my husband twice and then when the physician assistant came in he was all angry at me because of it. I know that my rights were violated especially the Hyppa ones. The way they treated my physical body was abusive. The fact they argued over who had to deal with me like I was a hard patient or something. I totally know what it takes to take care of a patient and I always thank them and tell them how much I appreciated them. It didn't matter they were still always annoyed to help me. Then The physician assistant try to make me go home early when it was just two days after my surgery. Mind you I couldn't even sit up by myself. He said everybody comes home after a couple days. I explain to him I am not everybody. So I was able to get two more days of doctors care. I was asked if I felt safe going home. I told the nurse "NO" . She asked why. I explained that I couldn't do anything by myself, not even able to sit up by myself. Her first response was "Are you scared of your husband? It took every ounce of my control not to yell at this woman. As I was sat up by the nurse and my husband I was in agony. The woman nurse acting like she gave a rats ass! All a show just for my husband. It took a full week for them to wash me after sweating from the physical part of the surgery. I also needed 2 blood tra

I figure I better write this review before a year is up on it. This was not a plan visit but then…read moreagain what hospital visit is planned. I'm just gonna cover the highlights of what makes this good and bad in my opinion. First and foremost with any hospital ratings is the nurses. I've got to admit this ascension Seton has more outstanding; above average nurses. Like around 70%. Then about 15% our average and 10% are below average. Unfortunately, there are about 5% that are in the category of why are they even nurses if they hate people? I found these mostly to be the Night Shift people. Next step is the hospital beds, they have two types. I'm gonna call them the Chevy and the Cadillac. Needless to say they are both uncomfortable. The bar that gets them to move up and down so you could sit lay down have your legs up or also what sticks in your back the entire time making sleep impossible. The Chevy beds I have to admit did at least have convenient factors of a cell phone charger right in the framework so you didn't have to try and stretch it to the wall. It was also easier to make the bed go up and down, which is extremely helpful around meal times. It is a pain to get your food served on a tray that needs to slide under your bed, except it doesn't give you room to sit with the table in front of you. There were so many times when I had to eat almost laying down with just my neck above the food tray, not comfortable The temperature throughout the hospital it's always a bit chilly. I can't remember the reason for it but it's medical. One room they had me in. I was freezing and I like the cold. I asked for more blankets since most of the blankets they have are so thin. My favorite was they asked me if I wanted a heated blanket and what they do is they throw it in the dryer for about 15 minutes then bring it to you. So you have a short amount of time where your body can absorb that heat before it's all cold again. My main point being is that freezing room was freezing because the air conditioning was broken in it and it was probably about 62° until they fixed it. Now the most important factor the food. Most of the time they will hand you the menu items that you can order off of they don't tell you about the off menu items. Get to know the lady who brings around the menus and be real nice to her and she will tell you what off menu items that she can get for you. There were certain things I did, which I don't normally do. I told them I was allergic to pork because that pork was so overcooked. It was disgusting. Don't order extra vegetables. It basically is overcooked mush. And whatever you do, don't eat the eggs in the morning. They are the fake powder kind that you mix with water and fry up. Trust me it taste fake. Some of the favorites of the off menu items were the spinach, strawberry pecan salad and the grilled chicken sandwich. I don't know about anyone else, but I basically saw my doctor for approximately two minutes before I went in for surgery and that was it. You mostly deal with the nurses or the doctors assistants. During my time there, they were renovating the hospital because it was an older one. So if you were brought to the basement to have test done, you get to go by the new cafeteria being built, which was going to be huge. I don't want to say I wanna be here again but as a hospital, it was OK

The check-in staff at the surgery desk were so personable and kind. The surgery prep team and the recovery room team went above and beyond.
