I already really struggle with blood work and an extreme fear of needles, and Id like to thank you…read morefor making that experience even worse. Full sarcasm while reading that please. I have to get blood work quarterly, and no matter what I do, even since I was a kid, I cant get over how hard it is. I freak myself out so much sometimes, I request each time I'm here to lay down to have my blood drawn since I get dizzy and faint sometimes. Not only was I ignored on 2 visits by the same doctor, and was sitting upright, but you guessed it. I got sick, dizzy, and ended up being there for 45+ minutes both instances. Instead of listening to me, and letting me lie down for the blood draw, you told me id be fine and then got irritated when i needed time to feel like i wasnt going to vomit and pass out. Don't complain to me you have other patients to see when my face is pale, my hands are clammy, and i can barely see with my vision blurring in and out. Since were on the topic of this doctor still, my most recent visit i wasnt even seen. I checked in, and the scanner wasnt working so i got a number. I waited for an hour, with everyone else going before me, and then new patients getting seen instantly while i still sat there. Of course, my favorite doctor from the pits of hell was there, and made eye contact with me MULTIPLE times and didnt think to ask me if i was checked in, or needed help. When i finally got the balls to bother her, she stopped me and said "theres a queue, you just wait your turn." My appointment was 11am. It is 12:23, and there were plenty of people who went ahead of me. This happened about a week ago, but ive honestly been so frustrated its taken me time to figure out what to even do with what happened. If you have to absolutely get your blood work done here, avoid the doctor whos short, has a red & black bob cut & is usually wearing a face mask & heavy set, avoid her like the godamn plague. She doesnt care about you, your concerns, and isnt here to help you. Honestly super happy i dont know her name so i dont have to permanently hate people with her name forever. Im a few weeks behind on my bloodwork i owe my doctor now because i literally do not even know where to go for blood work now. Fuck yall.

I am glad I was able to go somewhere close, but I wouldn't go back again. There's something too casual and too run down about the place where you question things. I don't know if they do blood work there, but I would never get my blood taken there. The two people I saw seemed to both be about 19 years old. They were very nice and polite, but just again like me questioning if everyone knows what they're doing. The bathroom door was supposed to be able to close and lock, but a few seconds later I found it hadn't locked and was a few inches open. I could barely get it to stay closed. It's just not one of those regular professional lab places I'm used to where everything seems super hygienic, super clean, super up to date.

My issues began after several weekly visits. I was seeing Dr. Adams at their Dripping Springs office once a week. She is no longer with the group. They also have another office in Oak Hill. The first thing the front desk clerk says when you walk in is "you have a balance of $XX. Can you take care of that today? It's very uncomfortable, as there are usually others in the waiting room. They state loudly that they will not see you if your balance is over $200. I had to skip a couple weeks and start going to the Oak Hill office, where I had never been before. When I walked in and sat down the clerk said, "You have a balance of $195. Can you take care of this today. I told her I could pay $100. People were in the waiting room. It was embarrassing. When I saw the doctor, I told her I couldn't afford to be seen every week. We agreed that I would start coming every 2 weeks to lower my costs. When I checked out, the same clerk pressured me to pay the full amount plus $56 for that day's visit. I told her $100 was all I HAD at that time. She said if I didn't pay the full amount before my next appointment or they "couldn't" see me. Again, embarrassing! Also, just for the record, I have only received one statement from SWF&A, which I ignored, because it was dated several weeks in the past, I had already paid part of it, and I knew I'd be in their office in the next few days. I was paying my full balance every week, until it suddenly went up. After Dr. Adams left I couldn't get in for a couple weeks. I have never received an explanation of benefits of any kind so I really have no idea what procedures are being done and what the actual charges afor those procedures. I'm not going back. I don't think any of these doctors were going hungry because I couldn't pay $95 for a week or so. I'm not going through that every time I have a visit. It's upsetting and demeaning. This practice appears to be much more concerned with money than with my health. And people wonder why we need healthcare reform?

They've made improvements to parking and the rooms, but the café and food options still need some work. The check-in process for day procedures could also use improvement. However, the follow-up care after the ER visit could be better. Overall, this hospital is one of the better options in the Austin area. After reading others' reviews and their experiences, I've realized that many of the issues are common across hospitals in the US medical system, not just this one.
