I've visited this location 3x and enjoy the boba and the employees that assisted me. I decided to bring my 12 yr old daughter since she is a big fan of boba and I've bragged about this location and boba to her. Today the boba was still good, but I was a bit annoyed that the male employee on shift kept dropping the f- bomb... not once, but 4x. I understand that the environment is more casual, but nonetheless it is still a place of business and should be a bit more professional- especially when younger school aged kid(s) are around. Situated perfectly in the heart of Downtown Old Pasadena, Prolece ( which I believe is pronounced as Pro-LECHE?) is a perfect addition to its diversity and fondness for fusion. Their house milktea may taste similar as other milk teas but their boba stands out, I'm not even a fan of adding boba but theirs has the perfect hint of sweetness, I added the cheesefoam as well which I thought really didn't alter anything but it's okay it's milk tea lol! We ordered our boba online and came in to pick it up on Wednesday night, Sep 16th 2020. I never got his name, but this poor guy was working by himself that night: taking orders and making drinks at the same time. People were waiting outside because the capacity is limited right now because of Covid. This employee was hustling like I've never seen, and made sure to apologize to each customer about the wait when he handed them their order. The boba quality here is so good that I didn't mind waiting a bit longer, knowing that this was a one man operation at the time. Whoever this employee was deserves a raise and then some! I'm very picky when it comes to Boba tea. But this place definitely deserves a nod.  Their tea's here are really fresh. I saw them freshly brew the tea and put into the container in the front. You can adjust sweetness levels and ice levels which is definitely a plus. Rose on Lychee is my favorite. It is not too sweet and lychee flavor comes from the lychee jelly. Perfect balance! Our first time here and we followed the Yelp reviewers' recommendations: tiramisu and strawberry kiss tea. The tiramisu even came with a shovel to scoop up the cheese, The cheese was thick and creamy. The tiramsu was was just the cheese flavor, so you pick the tea flavor. We were in Pasadena and originally meant to go to One Zo, which is right across the street (literally almost facing each other) but there was a huge long line and one of the people in it was a delivery driver who said she had been waiting for more than 30 minutes. I wasn't totally convinced that going to Prolece would be worth it, but I'm so glad I did. (Not to say that One Zo is bad, I have never tried it.) The popcorn chicken is kind of a fusion between what you would expect of Taiwanese style and American style - the pieces were big, actually had chicken and wasn't just breading, but the seasoning was missing the Five Spice & basil was nowhere in sight. Overall, not bad, but it had almost too much chili powder. The boba and tea though, is what is going to lure us back. The "vintage" milk tea was amazing and you could taste the quality and strength of the tea. I'm so envious that Pasadena has such an embarrassment of good boba spots. read more

All of the cheese foam drinks are sold out and they make up majority of the drink menu. Highly unlikely that they're sold out, probably just too lazy to make. Wanted the matcha drink but couldn't order it without the cheese foam, the kiosk won't allow it. Ordered brown sugar milk tea and it was overly sweet and the boba is way too firm. In this era of dire need, as people, and customers, we can all veer towards the want and the needing of a nice of drink of boba. I believe that Prolece Tea accomplishes that necessity. I didn't place the order myself, as a worker, my cousin, at Prolece Tea placed the order for me. From the time she placed the order, to the time the order came, it was around 40 minutes for 4 drinks and popcorn chicken. I would say that the waiting time was pretty reasonable. This is because, it's around a 15 minute drive, so the process of making the order took around 25 minutes. It's not the fastest time, it may have been a bit slower than expected, but reasonable. In terms of the taste itself, I found it up to par. The boba was as any one person would want: it was soft and chewy. I would like to add, however, that if one is expecting boba on the sweeter side, it does lack some sense of sweetness. The drink itself was good. I had the Tiramisu House milk Tea. The drink wasn't overpowered by sweetness, yet it was enveloped within the real flavors of a tiramisu. As for the cream on top, it has a sense of whip cream. I mean that in the sense that it's aerated, but it has a distinctive after taste that is hard to explain. With any whip creams, if you don't like that flavor, I would recommend to add less of the cream top. As, when finishing the drink, the cream is the only thing left on the bottom. For the Thai Tea and Taro, I personally didn't have it, but the people that did, said it was good and up to their standards. I fairly enjoyed their popcorn chicken. I believe that was the highlight of my order. When cooking chicken that small, it can often occur that, it is cooked through on the inside but the chicken meat clumps together into some type of hard strands. However, this chicken had some sense of juicy ness, and was it was cooked right. The seasonings on top complimented the cook of the chicken and the red peppers added a hint of spice that plays well with one's taste buds without ruining the experience. Prolece Tea is a good spot to go to if one is the area. I would say their popcorn chicken is great by all means. However, in terminology of the drinks, the likeness, is really dependent on one's particular taste buds. For boba, it's not the best boba, but it captures the imagery and texture of what good boba is. read more

They say coffee available, but DO NOT go to this place for coffee under any circumstances. Yes, they have an espresso machine, they served me an Americano that was nearly all water. Then I asked for cream and sugar and no one helped me (3 employees behind the counter). So I waited for 3-4 full minutes before grabbing a full half & half out of the mini-fridge that had access on both sides of the counter. NOW all 3 employees stopped what they were doing and staged a full-blown intervention on me "Sir, you can NOT reach into that cooler". It was pretty hysterical and eventually I got my cream and (liquid?) sugar. I'm not big into the boba craze, I don't know what this place is about but it is NOT coffee despite what Yelp is telling you. read more

It not too sweet and I love the hazelnut flavor and it came with a little shovel which you can use to scoop the top foam. I really like the fact that you can customize how sweet you want your drink to be so I got it at 75% sweetness.
