    Crab stuffed mushroom appetizer

Let me start by saying my husband and I have been patrons of Progress Grill for over 20 years and is our "go to" for date night and special occasions. We made a reservation for the day before Valentines Day for a Valentine date nite. This was the first time in over 20 years we were so disappointed with our service that we asked for the order to go due to poor service. Our reservation was for 7p.m. and we were seated about 7:15, we ordered drinks and an appetizer around 7:30 and we told out server we knew what we wanted for our entree but she said she would be back to take our order, she never came back, until around 7:45 with our drinks and appetizer. We ordered the Broiled Seafood Platter #2 and finally got our salad around 8 pm. It took an hour to get a side salad and an order of coleslaw. My husband went to the bar to order another drink because we were no longer waiting on our server to come back. By 8:35 we still didn't have our entree and my husband made the decision to contact our hostess and just cancel our entree however, she said it was just coming out so we requested it to go.. There were people at other tables that we had walked in with that were leaving because they were finished with their meal. The hostess apologized and comped our desserts which was appreciated and our Seafood Combo Platter's were excellent as always but the service was just unacceptable. We walked out of the restaurant around 8: 50 and still didn't eat our dinner. We were so looking forward to dinner at one of our tried and true favorite restaurants sadly we were let down. I am not sure that we will go back.

progress grill has been around for decades. menu has been streamlined, one full page. descriptions are misleading. portions are small. wedge salad compared to Outback needs improvement. clams casino,'clams were small, not fully baked, very moist tasting, french onion soup big glob of cheese, not memorable, seafood combination, the lobster portion was the highlight, the soufflé cups threw me off, all the food was moist not cooked all the way through, almost microwave ish. service was ok, not great. Ambiance needs to be refreshed

After a long drive, we stopped for dinner at the Progress Grill toward the end of the day. Tip: PG normally adds a tip to the check for groups to avoid problems Food was outstanding, especially the seafood! The atmosphere was excellent, and the service was attentive and friendly :-) The menu here is extensive, and no matter what you order you really can't go wrong - highly recommended!

Love these older "fine dining" restaurants. I always get the pork chops. They give you 2 huge thick pork chops that are super juicy.

A great restaurant with great ambience. Love these older restaurants in our area. They give you so much food. You're also paying for a second meal.

Overall: Three generations of my family have been eating at Progress Grill for 20+ years. Stepping into the restaurant is almost like stepping into a time capsule, in the best way possible. The atmosphere, much of the wait staff, and the standard (especially with the crab cakes!) have not slipped an inch. Appetizers: French Onion Soup ($7) - A relatively mild, but tasty onion broth, with plentiful bread and perfect amount of melted cheese. One of the best onion soups around! Oysters Rockefeller ($16) - These oysters were large and tasty, and the garlicky spinach helped make for a great bite. Entrees: Crab Cakes w/ French Fries + Baked Potato ($40) - This is the gold standard for crab cakes. BIG lumps, only a little filler, and perfect flavor, broiled to a crispy perfection on the outside. We are forever searching for a crab cake that meets this high bar, and we have yet to find it.

First time. It was exceptional. We all had the #2 combo. Started with a house salad and home add blue cheese dressing. Fresh warm rolls and butter. Crusty and tasty. The combo was a crab cake, crab imperial, shrimp and scallops and stuffed haddock. The scallops were sweet and tasty! The crab meat was plentiful. Side was Brussel sprouts. This place is well worth the price. We took 1/2 of our meal home for lunch the next day. It's well recommended and was packed at 5pm. I will be back many times. The table next to us had prime rib and steaks. They looked amazing. But, it is known for its seafood. Don't miss out and the 80s decor is fun !

My waitress (Danyell) immediately took my order of shrimp cocktail and the prime rib special. The food is where the experience soured. The shrimp cocktail (6 pieces) was cooked well and arrived chilled. The issue I had was with the garlic aeoli, cocktail sauce, and old bay seasoning dust that was generously sprinkled on top of the shrimp. Both sauces were under seasoned and the dry old bay seasoning added an odd texture and taste that detracted from th flavor of the shrimp cocktail. The prime rib was extremely tough, had no flavor, and was missing the cap. This was a big disappointment as I expected more from award winning chef Dougie Krick. The meal included mashed potatoes, however, as they do not offer a baked potato, I substituted for steak fries which arrived greasy. Total with tip was $85. Given the quality of the meal served, not a value. The server was very attentive and frequently refilled my drink without asking.

The cocktails alone are worth the visit. The bartenders really know their craft, and the alcohol selection, including local beers, is solid. My only real issue is brunch. Every time I've visited after 12 p.m. (brunch is served until 2 p.m.), there's been a problem--either they're no longer taking food orders, the kitchen is backed up with a 45-minute wait, or they've simply run out of food. It comes off unprofessional and could definitely be handled better. I've noticed this becoming a growing trend during brunch service in general, and while some people suggest arriving as early as 10 a.m. for the best experience, consistency matters. If you're offering brunch, you should be properly staffed and prepared to serve guests throughout the full service window. Period. It's especially frustrating when you've traveled specifically to experience their culinary offerings and hit a wall like that. Overall, if you're looking for a spot that feels like a New York-style dive bar with elevated drinks and solid food--if you catch it at the right time--this place delivers. Just plan strategically if brunch is your goal.

Some were great, some good and others should have never been called cheese steak subs. We moved to PA a few years back and have explored our community for the best places to eat. It was one day about 3 months ago, my wife and me had a hankering for a really good cheese steak sub. We punched in the request in our GPS and several places displayed upon the screen. After a quick check on reviews of the various locations, we settled on South Philly Hogies. Although the trip was 18 minutes away at 23 miles, off we went to try this establishment. We both ordered the California Cheese Steak and fries. We drove home and I can tell you by far this was the best Cheese Steak we had ever eaten. The bread it is served on is so soft and fresh and they have no issues with making it your way. I would be remiss if I didn't make mention that the staff are always nice and friendly. The quality and quantity that you get with your order almost seems impossible these days. We were so pleased that every time a family visits us here in PA, South Philly Hogies will always get a stop from us. We enjoyed every bite and discovered that we like it so much that as soon as we receive our food, we travel to the shopping mall and eat on the lot. We never make it home now with our food. All you hear in the car is lips smacking and people saying "um, um , um" I must also report that they are truly wonderful with regard to prices. I have paid upwards of almost $30.00 for the food we ordered from other establishments and the food was not that great at all. Not wishing to see price increased at this location but I would gladly pay a little more because they are that good. Thank you guys for doing such a great job with your service and your food. We will see you again as you are now on our once every 2 week visit list. For ever! Mr. & Mrs. Green
